Assuming your doing it the correct way.. Place your finger on he home key, then volume down, (don't press yet) then find the power key.. Press all 3 at the same time, once the screen lights up, let go of the power button..
M,
connect your tab to your pc and run
adb reboot recovery
if that works, ONLY perform a wipe cache function
and then reboot
There are numerous tutorials on XDA for setting up adb.
It is possible to render your device inoperable by having too many background processe running.
if you can get it rebooted consider removing some of the more "expensive" apps or find an auto start auto run killer that works for you.

this will sound goofy, but, make yourself comfortable and hold down just the power button for as long as you can.
and make sure you actually pressing it , some times fingernails get in the way and the button doesn't actually get pressed.
you are trying to get it to cycle on and off, if you can hold the button down for ten minutes then do it.

No, mainly to avoid heating it up anymore than it already gets
I've seen a few people with this problem for the Tab S. From what I heard it caused by the Tab being locked up and not being able to turn on or boot even with full charged battery.
So the two options/solutions I have seen are
1.wait a week or two until it drains and press power or charge it after that time and see if it does something(may not always work since it takes ages in this case)
2. Take apart the Tab and unplug and plug back in the battery connector (very dangerous if you don't know what your doing)
3. Take it to samsung and say you were updating through kies and it did this
Just don't charge it as I am hoping the Tab needs the battery drained.

With out sounding disrespectful to the person in need here, but this guy is a n00b and wouldn't know what an ADB from a CMD..
If your still under warranty, contact Samsung and you might get lucky and get a functioning refurb..

2. have you charged the phone ?
on a bright side, you are the 1st one !
Maybe your battery is loose? Not to mention that bricking a
phone is usually due to screwing up a software flash. So, is brick really the right word?

Try holding down the volume down button as you turn the phone on...see if that does anything.
Only time I'd allow the "First" comment to be used in a thread.

Thank you guys
I think it's bricked, and unrecoverable.
After several flashing, It suddenly turned off then never woke up again. Any effort so far is hopeless

I tried with captivate stock firmware, i9000 international firmware, then I flash back to vibrant stock firmware.
After had things done with Odin, my phone restarted, and it was the last time I saw my baby working as a smart phone.

If you are stuck on the phone to PC screen, you are NOT bricked. During development, I ended up getting into this state a couple times myself. You can still get into download mode in the same fashion.
Connect your phone to USB so you get the phone->PC screen. Press and hold both volume up/down. Then press and also hold Home. Then start pressing and holding power for 2 seconds. After 2 seconds, let go of power. Continue holding volume up, volume down, and home, until you get into download mode.

no, a completely blank screen.
no icon, no GUI, no nothing (
Yeah, weird...I just flashed back to US firmware and now my phone is totally unresponsive to everything. Keep in mind I've flashed back and forth several times...even once thought my phone was bricked because the power button wouldn't even turn the screen on. But after holding the correct buttons it finally booted into download mode. I was even using my phone earlier just fine, and having it run quadrant test of 1700, but as soon as I flashed back to 100% stock US firmware, my phone now no longer boots. Go figure lol.
Though this time I think it has bit the dust for real, lol. So be weary of flashing back to US firmware if you are flashing a lot of different other firmwares. Cuz I think something happens and the key combinations get deleted so it refuses to boot into any mode.

I"m at the phone to pc screen..but the Home button is not a "button" it's a touch sensitive button on my vibrant and it won't go into download mode...
I got here because i flashed the custom kernel to put the market and data on a ext4 partition...and it reversed my volume buttons and reversed the routing of sound..headphone speaker..that stuff....so i couldn't hear anything...so when i went to reflash stock t-mobile firmware it told me not to unplug for like hours..it wasn't doing anything.....i took the battery out and now i'm stuck at phone to pc...i think i might just use the warranty..seeing as u can't do a think with it...atleast i can't that is..i feel like a moron...
the forum said to work on com7 but com4 was showing up in odin...i couldn't get it to go on com7 so i thought it should still work....

Hello,
While I was installing a new ROM for Galaxy 9000I s with Odin the USB cable has been disconnected.
And the phone now doesn't start up or even turn on the screen black light.
But the screen shows a phone icon with PC icon with orange the angle between them with ! sign
- Tried to re-connect it to my PC but the Samsung Kies doesn't see it .
So, please tell me what to do to fix this problem..
Thanks for advance
I take it you don't have the 3 button mode, therefore you'll have to make the usb jig to allow you to re flash the phone, search for how to make it.

yeah, just go back into the download mode
then you can flash the ROM again via Odin
Since no one has mentioned this,
To enter download mode, you hold the Volume Down + Home + Power
I've had the same problem. Couldn't enter recovery and download mode at first. Pull the battery and wait a few minutes before plugging it back in. After that i was able to enter download mode

Yes that works also.If you take the battery out, make sure you leave it out for more than half hour.In the meantime press some buttons on the phone to make sure to get rid of all the electricity stored in capacitors in there. When i had this problem i left the phone for 20 minutes and nothing happened. Then i read on a website that it might take more than half hour so i left it about 50 minutes, got recovery after all, factory reset all good.

Sorry for your trouble. This is definitely bad luck. There are the risky heat methods but I wouldn't recommend it.
Just claim that it fell out during Kies update or something, definitely don't tell them you were trying to flash on stuff with Odin
I always used to wonder what would happen if the USB disconnected / computer went into sleep mode or crashed when flashing a ROM. Thanks to the unfortunate OP, now I know! And I hope they fix his problem without making any fuss.

Anybody knows what's wrong and how do I solve it? Here's the entire story (if it helps):
I went to Play and updated my apps. I press and held the power button and selected "restart". (I restart my device regularly) However, after shutting down, it does not boot at all and no matter how many times I press the power button it just wouldn't boot up!
I tried charging it too. Nothing happens even after plugging in.

Can you get to the boot loader, if so, try to wipe data from the recovery within the boot loader.
Or else leave the battery to drain fully , this will solve your problem and the tab will boot.
This happened to me couple of weeks ago and draining the battery solved this issue.

Nope. I wish it did.
Try to hold the power button in about 4 or 5 seconds. I doubt it'll do anything. It sounds like there's a problem with power button or hardware.
I had a thrive 7 before I got my gtab 7.7 and my first one I exchanged because of a problem identical to yours. It was very sketchy to power on.
Exchange or warranty if you can unless someone else has any ideas

Only alternative left to leave it till battery drains, if you can remember the battery percentage before this happens, otherwise i am out of solutions.
A service center would be an alternative choice.

Hey Guys I need some help please!
I have a friend, which will be joining this thread soon, that has a samsung tab 2 GT-P3113 7" .
He is not able to power on the device, I suggested holding the power button down for 30-40 seconds but that didn't work.
He charged it overnight and he can see the charging icon, he then tried again holding the power button for 30-40 seconds...still nothing.
He informed me that when he connects his tab to his computer it says:" I should install OMAP3440 driver for connection".
Sorry , this is all I have, I'm not familiar with the tab 2 .
Thank you!
Isnt there a reset button/procedure? Like hold power button and volume up or down?
My P3110 will not arrive till next week so i can say for sure.
Try holding the Volume Down button and the power button. Keep holding them and you should get a warning about running custom software. If you get this, then you could download an Odin restore package and flash it to the tablet to get it back up and running. The fact that it shows the charging image is a good sign, Hopefully it can be fixed from there.

Yes, I did, but it doesn't work for this tab. Only there is a good sign I can see: the charging icon come up when I plug tab to wall or pc, and when I try to connect to pc, I get a message from pc saying I should install driver for OMAP3440. This is the driver for Texas Instrument processor that come inside tab.
I don't know if this tab is bricked or not, so I'm stop just at this step.

If you can get into download mode it may be a good idea to try flashing firmware through Odin to rebuild it back to factory.
I had the same issue after flashing the wrong kernel/ Rom combo while trying to get ubuntu touch to boot.

Hey Guys I need some help please!
I have a friend, which will be joining this thread soon, that has a samsung tab 2 GT-P3113 7" .
He is not able to power on the device, I suggested holding the phttp://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/cyclops.gifower button down for 30-40 seconds but that didn't work.
Thank you!

I had this same problem with one of my Samsung tab 2 GT-P3113 7.0's. After trying everything I could find online I decided to open it up and have a look inside. Opening a 7.0 is different than a 10.1 so check a YouTube video to see how it is done. After removing the back cover I immediately noticed that a small ribbon cable had some how become disconnected. I simply snapped it back into place then checked all of the other ribbon cables I could see and then tried to turn the unit on and it worked! problem solved!
If you have tried all of the other methods posted then you should give this a try, because at that point you have nothing to lose.
My Tablet gets handled by a lot of people daily and most likely it was dropped which caused the cable to be knocked free of its connection.
My phone has the 11-20 build of Gummy on it, I just updated the firmware to MJA (hoping to get data) and it was running well for the past hour. I rebooted to recovery to try installing the Euroskank rom and now my phone will not turn on, it had more than 90% battery when I rebooted so I know that is not the issue. When I plug or unplug it from my computer, it will acknowledge that something was plugged in (by making a sound) but not show what was plugged in. Any recommendations as far as what I can do to fix this?

Sometimes holding power for what seems like a long time helps, pull battery put back in, put on charger leave alone, are you getting the battery icon?

I held down the power button long enough to watch a couple plays in the Ole Miss game, pulled the battery and put it back in, no luck. I plugged it in and did not get any battery notification. I did find that by holding the power button while it is plugged into my computer it seems to power on and off on some level because it would alternate plugged in and unplugged sounds, still with nothing else being shown like the option to view files or see anything on the phone screen. Is there anything else I can do?

Well all you can really do is make sure your USB cable charger is working, let it charge without touching it for several hours, could also be a battery problem /hardware problem? Any one else? Have any advice??
I have bricked my phone pretty bad a few times, but I have always at least had the battery icon on the front show up,, hopefully a full charge well cure it,, just Checking but by power you mean the top right botton if the phone is facing you?

Not from what I can tell. The screen doesn't show anything, the LED doesn't light up. Is there a trick where I could trigger it using ODIN or HEIMDAL?
Put battery in phone and charge for 2 to 3 hours without turning phone on.
Take battery out of phone and leave it out for 1/2 hour.
Then put battery back in and see if you can get into 'Download Mode' - Hold Home Button AND Volume Down Button at same time and while keeping them held Press the Power Button till you get screen asking if you want to go into Download mode by confirming with a Volume Up press.
If you can get there maybe you can use one of the Odin/heimdal methods to recover.
Or even more simply - Odin Philz recovery and flash an MJA ROM - That's something I'd try first if you can do that.

I just charged my phone over night, pulled the battery for an hour and still no response from my phone what so ever. I would be ok with a total wipe if at all possible at this point as it does not seem to be booting at all. Could this be a bootloader issue somehow? I updated the firmware not long before this issue occurred and it booted up from that for awhile and this issue started after trying to reboot.
At this point, your best bet is to take it to Sprint and get a warranty replacement. Not much you can do if it won't turn on

Ok...just curious does anyone here have Ting and have tips about doing this through them? I don't actually have Sprint directly but use Ting.
EDIT:
For anyone following this, potentially in a similar situation, I found this service which I hope to hear back from soon, it says they can fix hard bricked phones on their site:

My sister's S4, which is running stock unrooted 4.3 is going through the exact same thing. The Sprint corporate store told her that she needs to have it serviced by Samsung >.>
Why don't you make a usb jig and force it into download mode,I think I seen a video on you tube on how to make one,I haven't tried it myself but I heard they work

Just checking, didn't see this confirmed. The screen is non responsive currently, but you said that using the power button yields USB acknowledgement..
Have you tried a complete power down and boot in to Download mode (Power + Volume Down + Home) and then plugging it in and seeing if ODIN recognizes it in Com? It is possible (although not super probable) that you are experience a flash screen/screen on issue that could potentially be repaired by a reflash.. I know a lot of the 4.3 updated were experiencing lack of flash screen but if left alone the phone would still boot.
Worth a try, if you haven't already.. Stranger things have worked for me in the past.

We did the first two steps you mentioned, got it to turn on, then it it did the same thing again after a little while. We repeated the two steps, factory reset, and all has been well for the past 24 hours. Thanks
Glad you got it working!
And thanks for reporting back here so that others may be helped. Keep the comunnity alive.

Yeah, I've been seeing other people having similar problems after updating even on other carriers. My guess would be that the problem is related to going from 4.2 to 4.3 coupled with user data/cache of system apps and Knox, but I really have no idea. Anyway, Thanks again
Well scratch that, it's back to its usual behaviour. Could flashing via odin fix this or could it be a hardware issue? I still feel like it's related to the 4.3 update.

Re-flaching Odin may fix it.
But it could very well be a hardware issue. I've had a couple of phone with batteries that were fairly new have this issue. Got new battery, charged and replace it and all worked.
