How about a thread on possible SW enhancements through future FW updates? IDK if it matters, but we could try.
Here's my list, but please add whatever SW issues/bugs you've run into.
1. They should put 'microphone noise suppression' back to call settings. My HK Z3+ doesn't have it, but my Taiwanese Z2 does. I'm using those in the US, but I can ask for it on behalf of HK folks anyway
2. Occasional high 'mobile radio active' numbers on 4G (LTE) mostly from Google apps . My fix was to 'close all apps' once in a while. It's a known lollipop issue (Thanks @addicted1900)
3. Current 8mp auto mode is great for low-light shots. I'd say it's probably the best one in Androidland. Day shots could use a 16mp auto mode, but that will probably ruin current 8mp mode's low noise advantage with excessive noise. So it'd be great if they could adjust the resolution on the fly with some extra settings (like dynamic resolution, always 16mp/20mp, always 8mp,etc). Or at least include a separate high res auto mode (it'd be confusing - I know)
4. Auto mode could use a little lower EV while shooting at bright objects.
5. I used 'trepn' to profile core usage (& assuming trepn itself is not a CPU hog)
Home screen: All 4 little (a53) cores running at max 1.56 GHz most of the times with occasional bursts from 1/2 big (a57) cores. Sounds like an overkill
Settings page: Ditto
Camera (superior auto for photo only): Ditto
Fun fact: Only little cores run the 4K show. Something could be done there too
Point is there is room for improvement & going by Sony's fw update history (their fw updates are quite solid, btw), we could ask for the same thing here
Adaptive light puts screen backlight too low in dark environments.
I wish it could get dimmer at night in fully dark rooms
When Stamina mode is on ( with extended usage enabled), The decreasing of framerate is noticeably. (Never happened to my Z1)

Well, you know that's the way "extended usage" is meant to work?
Yeah but as I said , it doesn't happen to my Z1 , which is 3 generations older.
Profile mode for high, medium and low performance.
Given the performance of sd810, I don mind a under clocked sd 810 for better performance. Just like how one plus is doing
When recording video I'd like the option to defeat noise cancellation/DSP and record 'flat'. Or tweak it somehow. Right now my Z2 records generally better audio on video than my Z3+ .... the Z3+ doesn't seem to record with much gain either, when it's supposed to be autogain - can't believe it needs that much headroom.
Plug in the STM10 (or a Smartlav+ ) and thankfully audio is very much improved - but I don't always have those with me.
I'm sure the speakers can go louder for ringtones, again seems quieter than my Z2 by maybe 3dB or 6dB perhaps (haven't measured, but human ear generally sensitive to 3dB differences).
Really pleased on the Z3+ things like Lifelog and Social are uninstallable, even PlayStation and PSN apps come off without root (could not be removed from Z2). I really like the direction of optional bloatware.
I don't know how broad Sony's Backup vault is, but I'd like to be able to backup/restore custom ringtones and SMS/hangout notifications for my contacts. This is one area where iPhone excels - restore to a new iPhone and pretty much everything remains identical. I don't want to have to futz with NFC locally when it could all already be stored in the cloud.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the Z3+ ... but I warn Sony, if they start going all proprietary again (eg all that ATRAC nonsense, can't even play a video from a standard USB stick on my Dad's Bravia TV, etc) -- then I will leave as quickly as I arrived
Another one for my wish list - a quick way to add Reminders by voice input - perhaps add the option to the long-press power button menu. (I know I think there is an option to always have Google Now listening if the screen is on, but I don't want that)
Not sure of the security implications though, I notice on my Z2 and Z3+ for example if I want to change Camera Mode out of Superior Auto after quick-launching it from sleep with the hardware button then I need to unlock with my password.

Hi,
I am pleased about X8 hardware but the camera.
My previous phone is Nokia 6120 Classic with 2.0 mpx camera, it hasn't auto focus as X8 neither but sky and earth.
In the group of non auto-focus cameras the nokia's solution is #1, 5 star performance. Unfortunately SE-s camera hardware could have only 2 stars. The reason of my opinion: slow response time from ccd, that is why your pics become cloudy and (motion)blurry.
Nokia 6120's cam: *****
SE Xperia X8's cam: **
So... anybody has any kind of software solution to make X8's camera a little bit more usable?
A little tip from me:
Camera Pro: you can use your camera without capturing noice. And it has some possibilities to set brightness, contrast and color after shooting.
But it doesn't solve the built in motion blur effect. :[
I need more tipps.
Moved to General
Ah. I had problems with the camera being super-blurry too. But this is easily remedied, just set the camera from 'Auto' to 'Sports'. This will fix this 'motion blur' issue you are having, but doesn't stop the overall quality being crap.
You should know by now that mobile phones don't make very good cameras anyway.
Thank you.
I haven't tought that a simple option will improve the camera.
I have left one question: wich app will shoot silent photoes in sport mode?
Thx.
Putting your phone into silent mode should do it. If not, download an app called "Volume" by 'CoreCode' and turn the system volume all the way down. Not the most ideal solution, but it works. I'm sure there'd be a better option if you rooted (such as replacing the shutter sound file), but I haven't messed around with any of that yet.
Ok. Thanks.
Hi all, Got a Desire HD and a radio control helicopter (Trex 500).
Would like to be able to look at the heli in flight with the camera (in video mode is ok) and see what speed the rotors are spinning at.
All that's required is a method of adjusting the camera shutter speed while pointing at the heli until the blades look stationary. (Maybe use the volume rocker for adjustment)
Also a little routine to put the revolution figures on screen.
The heli blades should spin at about 2700rpm but for a wider variety of helis, would like to read a range from about 1900 to 3200 rpm.
A shutter harmonic frequency could be used as I dont think the shutter can operate at these speeds.
There are units available that use this method... But the mobile phone with camera already has the hardware needed. Just need a little bit of programming, I'm guessing.
If anyone can help i'm sure there would be a lot of interest from various fields....
Feedback on the idea welcome.....
aero star
PS. Thinking of existing measuring apps available, any reason why shutter speed can't be added to give object speed calculation and result etc etc
PPS. Recording the heli in flight and then applying the Tachometer software would be ok.... might be easier to adjust the shutter speed for the video recording or playback... ???
I suppose the problem exists for all 5.0.2 versions that have been released so far. Obviously I didn’t check all of them by myself, only the versions without operator customization (Central Europe, Nordic Combined, etc.).
The usage of headphones profiles in the sound settings is impossible. Those profiles shift automatically (I guess they reset to the general profile) while changing a track (I noticed this doesn’t happen always and what is most odd, always when I come back to the previous track, the profile resets) doesn’t matter if I’m using Walkman, Spotify or Deezer. Additionally, when I choose a random profile, its settings is random as well (for example settings for MH1C is not always available under MH1C, it changes randomly during such reset) it’s hearable when changing a profile while listening to some track. It’s a total mess.
The other thing is a bug in system keyboard. Probably it’s a matter of the language chosen (I chose polish)- didn’t check that though. When the keyboard is extended and I click on a word which I want to edit, the cursor moves to the end of the word, and it’s necessary to tap on the word again to cause the cursor stay where I want it. Is this a new functionality of Lollipop? It didn’t appear in KitKat.
Do you have some suggestions how those issues. Is somebody going to report them to Sony? Maybe some version that isn’t affected.
If you have Root, installing Viper should eliminate this.
No, I do not use root, and I think I do not need it.
But this is a workaround. I think, that stock music settings are great so I want to use it on LP too, not only on KK. I love LP design, functionality and all of it features. Now I must use KK again cause of this stupid problems...
Someone noticed this issues? On Z3C, or Z3?
Maybe some root workaround, without installing other music settings?

You are right, I noticed this issue too. Profile switching is inconsistent. Also, audio effects aren't applied automatically on tracks, you need to disable-reenabled them in Sound Effects menu, and do that for each new track (not always, like you said). The Sony SW Audio Effects are basically broken.
So what we can do with it? I really want to use Lollipop again, but I need music app and sound quality working flawless to be satisfied.... Maybe some root solution? Someone, please?
Also this is strange that there are only two of us, who cares about this issue. On the biggest android forum in the world... Sony Z3C audio quality is superb - I does not believe that there are no persons who uses their phones to listen music in great audio quality... I don't want to change my earphones only because it is not playing as good as it should on general audio settings. XBA-3 are great and sounds brilliant on MH1C profile. So I NEED IT to work on Lollipop!
Where are you, guys? Any support is needed asap!
I have an MH1c and the profile is useless for me now :'(

I recognize the edit issueon my lollipop. When placing the cursor in the middle of a word, it jumps to the end when you start typing. Very annoying :|
I don't use headphones profiles, so can't help in this regard.
Checked the edit function. First - it's specific to the system keyboard, second - it has a very consistent behavior, which leads me to believe that it's not a bug, but a feature. First press on the word is not for editing it, but rather for replacing it from a set of auto-completion options shown when you type - the same set shows up when you press the word after it's already typed. The second press is getting you to editing the word letter-by-letter. I've tried changing the autocorrect options, and when auto-completion suggestions are completely disabled - this feature is disabled too.
It can actually be useful in its current form, though I can definitely understand the need to have a switch to get it disabled without disabling auto-completion suggestions.

You mean feature of Xperia Keybord on Lollipop? Lollipop has different version of keyboard than KitKat? Can someone check this? On KK I've got 6.4.A.1.54 Xperia Keyboard. I am curious, if there is different version of keyboard on LP - is there a possibility to install keyboard from KK (without root) and will "the bug" still be present?
This thing - as a "feature" - is something doesn't make sense. On KK you can also change typed word to other from suggestions and - at the same time - you can edit if from where you tap it. Why the hell user has to touch the word again?
Not sure why, but I don't use a system keyboard - I use Smart Keyboard Pro. This "feature" isn't a part of the OS - it only happens when working with Xperia keyboard, with a custom keyboard it isn't happening.

While I agree with you that this is an issue, and if they have the functionality available it SHOULD be working as intended...
If you care about audio fidelity so much, you shouldn't be using an equalizer in the first place, you should buy good headphones, that have been correctly tuned -- either to produce the correct sound or to produce the frequency response you most like. On the fly software equalization is never the answer.
Most people don't care about the issue so much, and audiophiles will have the correct equipment. That's why no one else seems upset at this.
---
As for the keyboard, it is most certainly the way sony designed this new keyboard to work. It's not an defect, it's how it works. Try google keyboard, swiftkey, fleksy. I've used all of they and any one is far superior to the xperia keyboard -- the beauty of android is that you can customize what you don't like.

Believe me, I am know what I am doing and what I am using.
My headphones works good with Z3C on general profile and without any equalizations (by the way, Z3C has great audio quality, very simillar to eg. Sony ZX1 or Sony A15 audio players). But with MH1C profile works greater than good - it is sounds excellent. This is not an equipment issue thread.
No Xloud, Decreased overall loudness/Volumes.
I am also getting Sound Problems after the Lollipop Update.
1. The Xloud Feature has disappeared from the sound settings and playing music through internal speakers is so terrible, makes sound like coming from a very cheap phone.
2. The loudness has decreased a lot now. I think that Sony have changed the volume levels. I remember that in kitkat volume at lvl 1 was high enough to be audible easily and at max volume, it was pretty high, but now the volume at the minimum level is barely heard even through headpones. The sound i am getting now at max level in LP was at a level less volume in KK.
3. Yes, there is headphones selection problem now in LP, but you can just get the type of sound you need be selecting different ones. For example, if you want to listen to sound for Noice Cancellation headphones, then select those and then select any other to get the NC sound exactly same which came in KitKat firmware. The fact is that you will get the audio type which headphones you have selected previously.
Rest I am not getting any major issue.
even my friend who has xperia Z2 have same problems. I think Sony have used same basics for all lollipop updates.
If the stock eq isn't behaving, replace it with Viper:

No, there is no problem with equaliser. Is there something to increase volume level.

Viper can up volume, as well. It's not as good as a dedicated headphone/dac would be, but it definitely does the job.

You mean, that If I chose MH1c profile, change it to another and save settings (go back) - while listening music it will automatically change back to MH1c setting? Not some random profile, or general profile?
The selection does not change, but the sound becomes as that of general headphones profile. I have even updated firmware to 23.1.A.1.28 but still all tge sound issues are there. Maybe in future firmware they will fix it.

Will 3G data work in the USA with this S82 Watch?
This is the first time ever I have seen this on a watch:
Band 2G: networks GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz. Band 3G: WCDMA 2100/850/1900 MHz
That's straight from the specs. Other forums have indicated at&t operates the WCDMA connectivity on 1900 MHz. If that's true, will this watch support the higher data rate in the USA with at&t as the carrier? Has anyone tested this out to REALLY verify it?
Thanks.

Hey I have Both I literally just got the S82 today and I like the look of the S8 better!!!
The functionality is also easier on the S8, but don't take my word for it because i have only had it for one day!!!
I think that the S82 is better for extra memory, removable battery, and the screen resolution looks better. Nothing else really stands out to me!!!
Sorry, English is not spoken Google Translate
I got it on 30 June.
I assess its more like a toy than a complete replacement. And, oh yes, I have it in my hands and lying on the table, constantly wearing on his arm until he tried.
*Now, about the shortcomings.
*According to the manufacturer's website battery capacity of 700 mAh. In my copy of 500 mAh. On eBay, there are two types of battery: Model 463232 - 500 mAh and Model 452547 700 mAh. In my case, 500 mAh. I saw information about other models of batteries for other models zgpax there some sort of confusion: on one battery write 700 mAh, and the description thereto - 500 mAh . So I do not know whether to trust these figures.
*On the manufacturer's website said the three sub-screen buttons. But realistically, only one button - the "return". I researched and found out that some programs will replace the missing "Menu" button if you can hold the left edge of the screen to the right. But what to replace the central button "Home" do not know. As it is often required to go to the menu Settings, or running programs long press "Home" and then come back. Have to press "Return" to close the program, change anything in settings, and then re-run the program (if the program is full screen and can not see the top of the bar to quickly setting). Without these keys very uncomfortable. Maybe something I do not know, this is my first watch and learn on their own.
*Hours of course small, just can not say. I have a habit of more smartphones to turn off all wireless, you do not need at the moment and close the program. In these hours, I installed the program iBattery, which in sleep mode disables the wireless and dampens background processes. After switching on again% battery charge varies little, even if, for example, it took half a day. But at the same time you will not run programs that have something to work online. The program has a setting that can be turned off in sleep mode.
*More about the battery life. The battery is discharged relatively evenly (if one can say so), but when it was less than 40%, then quickly, before our eyes discharged. The truth is when I used about two days sometimes including watches. But keep in mind that the number of% charge can be deceptive and the battery is discharged very quickly (just drop into the abyss).
*Another unpleasant surprise was the background noise when recording microphone. Maybe it's just me, I do not know. But when the recorded video with the sound recorder and recorded, it appeared on the record very noticeable background. I do not know how it connects the microphone to the motherboard, do not understand, but it is very unpleasant. Call off the clock I did not try, not tested.
*Level wi-fi signal is weaker than the big smartphone at the same distance. But it works. Just worked bluetoth headset for external headphones - check the music, I did not try to call, do not use.
*GPS works. It just seems that the signal strength is weakened if the watch is worn on the arm. Remove the watch seems to be better. Quickly picked up by satellites if the program updated AGPS. Without this long.
*The standard keyboard is very small. You can try MessagEase keyboard, but get used to it and adjust.
*The font size in Settings better expose the fine.
*If the program is some kind of advertising, in contrast to a large smartphone, where a small advertising bar at the bottom, then the clock it can take almost half of the screen. Even if you run without wireless networks, then this place will be empty.
*Built launcher scrolls like that tight. Sometimes you have to move a little in the opposite direction, and then to the right - then scrolls.
*He tried to pick up, but it is not found launcher without advertising, to have more icons on one screen, and not to open the folder. I use the built.
*The camera shoots course is not very good. Yet it is fair 2 megaPixel. I've seen pictures on the internet made similar clocks supposedly 5 megaPixel, but there was just awful interpolation, feeling that took the sensor ~ 0,3 megaPixel and greatly interpolated to 5. So that the camera in my watch but not much, but still the better. It's funny that in the program Open Camera video settings have much higher resolution of the real, but the video still will remove 864 * 480. In this program the default quality jpeg 90%, 100%, I found, though subjectively the difference is not obvious. The camera is in such hours not to create photographic masterpieces , and if with nothing for normal shooting, and it is necessary to capture all costs (eg price tags in the store .
*Incidentally, the level sensors do not work properly in hours. It seemed to me that the navigation program where the compass shows when you hold not horizontally, but vertically. Also, if in the Open Camera to include stability augmentation, the picture will be cut off and inclined. A program interface is inverted 180 degrees, tilt and if by yourself, then become normal. This indicates improper calibration of the sensors. Perhaps there are programs where possible to set up, I do not know.
*What else to add? The exterior design is closer to the classic clock. The camera on the right side a bit like winding mechanical watches. Buttons on the left side - less likelihood press chamber as in the other clock, where all with one hand. Hours unprotected battery is built into the rear cover and remove easily without loosening the screws. Access to the SIM card and the card slot light. Stuck Card Transcend 32Gb UHS-I TS32GUSDU1 - works .
*By the way, when buying was no information on the headphones. Came parcel included microUSB appeared headphones. The firmware has a FM-station. Connected to test - runs.
*On the screen at the plant was glued film, glossy, uneven, it is necessary to tear off the top layer №2. But under the film had a lot of bubbles and dust particles. I tried to clean up and re-stick, it became better, but 2-3 motes remained
*Figured screen size ~ 38 * 41 mm. Of similar size saw glass sony smartwatch, but there are size 39,2 * 39,2 mm. So it goes a little wider. I do not know whether the glass is carefully grind, to come in width.
There is only one plus for the S82, the better battery:

Very bad, like all available chinese watch phones. My EC309 has a 560 mAh battery, on the website 600 mAh.

Just got the watch. I can confirm that it works 3G on AT&T network. The only pluses for this watch vs. the S8 is that U.S. customers will be able to access 3G on both AT&T and T mobile, and can easily swap memory cards. The battery is 500mah, not 700mah as advertised by the manufacturer and several websites. The watch is very thick and clunky. The position of the camera is difficult to take photos while wearing the watch. There is no home button, just a back button. Touchscreen response is poor at times. Speaker volume is quite loud.
FM radio works with included microusb headphones. Battery is attached to back cover. The battery/cover unit can be easily removed to access the SIM card slot and TF card slot. If you install a launcher like nova launcher, the notifications panel at the top disappears. Google Playstore works. Bluetooth pairing to keyboard and headset works fine. About 1.2 GB memory for apps, like the S8. If you don't live in the U.S. and don't need a lot of storage memory, stick with the S8.
I've put the S82 aside for now and have gone back to my Aplus GV18. I may be returning the S82 as I am in a dispute with the seller about falsely advertising a 700mah battery.

do you has pictures from watch?
Attached are photos of the watch. I have tested GPS. Works fine outdoors. Difficulties finding position indoors. Battery goes from 40% to 14% quickly. This is my first day of heavy use. I think that it is because the battery is not calibrated yet. Should improve over the next few days. Heavy use and screen on time today of 4-5 hours. Includes downloading some apps, using GPS, taking photos, watching a little YouTube and playing with various settings, wallpapers, etc. Gets a little warm but not hot. Do not notice warmth when on wrist, only when holding in hand. Touch screen response getting a little better with continued use. Still frustrated with the watch, but getting better as I find apps to get around its shortcomings.

Yes, it's a photo with working watch.
Photo of nature - individual blades of grass, twigs of trees , leaves are noticeably better compression quality jpeg.
I set the program Open Camera because more options in comparison with the firmware.
In my copy of the image on the clock in the corners of the photo looks blurry and darker.
It did not work to upload a video of 20 MB.
Tell me please, what quality audio recording?
In my copy of the recording sound is very strong background noise.
And you checked the phone call - as an interlocutor hears you?

Call quality: If cell signal is poor, then difficult to make calls because voice drops on both sides. The cellular antenna on the S82 is weaker than my $25 GV18. So tested at place with good cell signal. Speaker volume is loud for music play, but is not as loud for phone calls. Would be difficult to hear in noisy room. Using watch microphone, there is some voice distortion, but can still understand. When paired with bluetooth headset the volume is loud - easy to hear other party, also other party can hear my voice clearly. For making phone calls, best to use bluetooth headset. Also, need to make sure you use carrier with strong signal in your area or you won't be able to make calls.
Using voice recorder with both the watch microphone and bluetooth headset, I did hear some background noise, but not strong. There was no background noise during phone calls.
I had to download a messaging app from Play Store in order to text. The phone messaging app did not work out of the box.
One plus of the S82 is the rubber cover over the microusb port that prevents things from getting in. I understand that the S8 microusb port is open. There is a screen protector pre-installed. Good screen visibility in sunlight. The screen on uses up most battery, so turn screen to lowest setting when indorrs to save battery. note that the speaker hole is on the watchband itself as are the antennas.
Will update in future post with some apps that may be useful to make watch more usable. There is now a YouTube video of the watch from an owner. I am new to this forum so am unable to post a direct link. Just search ZGPAX S82 on YouTube. It is posted by Morry.
I'm am sure the device could be made better after root, but I am not knowledgeable enough to be comfortable with trying to root it.

Will this work through bluetooth to a phone, or is it stand alone only.
Thanks
You can use a program like SWApp Link for companion functions.

rooting s82
Anybody know how to root the zgpax s82 also known as Alps H18.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, I have a picture quality issue when playing Netflix. I also include links to the video. The image is horrible in dark scenes. It is dark and looks like a mosaic.
The paradox is that if I set the quality in Netflix settings to low, the image looks much better and brighter than with High Quality.
I tried turning the Brightness Boost feature on and off in HDR (new setings in A12), but no change. When turned on, it seems to me that there is more mosaic.
I also tried deleting the data in the Netflix application, it didn't help.
I have an OP8 Pro 256GB, A12, with no ROOT, no other intervention.
The mobile was upgraded to A12, reset factors, and then started installing applications and setting up.
I have the highest quality set in Netflix, max data allowed. The cell phone is set to 1080p and 120Hz.
Is it possible that HDR broke? HDR image create software or a physical component on the motherboard? I can't handle it.
I tried to compare it with my brother's OP8pro, but he has an L3. HDR doesn't even turn it on and it plays in SD quality. I have L1. My brother doesn't care. I also attach a video as I compared. That's the brightness I have when I set the LOW quality.
I tried to play DUNA on HBO Max on my and my brother's and it looked good as well as my brother's mobile.
I add another finding. This problem is not only with Netflix, but also with normal playback. I tried to release a 22GB qHD movie and also in the dark scenes a horrible mosaic in the shadows. I tried to play through the gallery, xPlayer, VLC and the same. When I make a printscreen, and I send it to the PC, the photo is like it is played by the PC (okay). So only the mobile phone has a problem. Interestingly, there is no such problem with HBO Max. I often watch movies, series on mobile. It's starting to bother me a lot, and I'm thinking of throwing it at a service station.
Turn off DC dimming.
and where do you have dc dimming options in oos12 ??
I tried this tutorial but it didn't work.

I'm not sure if it's been removed in OOS12, but you can try searching in the settings. I'm using a custom ROM right now, and my menu layout is different than OOS12, but I'm pretty sure you have an option like that in OOS11.
You might need to enable Developer Options to be able to find it.
DC dimming uses a different technique to control the brightness of the display panel at low levels. It basically turns the pixels off if the value would be close to black. This increases battery life slightly, but you lose some detail in dark scenes in movies and such.

You're wrong. It's not about DC dimming. On android 12 aosp there is also a problem with displaying HDR content the same as on oos12. I know because today I was flashing derpfest and there was also a problem with Netflix. There is no problem on oos11
