I have a very frustrating problem with my contacts.
I want to display only the contacts from 2 of my 10 accounts, but everytime I go to "Contacts to Display" -> Custom list, the phone defaults back to "All Contacts". This is very annyoing and frustrating.
Pl help.

2.1 syncing issues

I have an eris. Maybe I am missing something but it is syncing over 800 contacts and I have no way of telling it to ONLY sync a specific group. Did this option disappear or is this a bug?

This works but doesn't allow you to only sync contacts that are in the "Phone_Contacts" group, for instance. In 1.5 you could select which groups from your google contacts to sync to the phone, but now I think that option is gone.

Where are my contacts going?

When I add contacts to my address book, I can not find them afterward.
I know they are there because when the contact calls me the phone recognizes the caller but if I browse through the contacts list I can only see my old SIM contacts that I had on my SIM card before I got the N1 and contacts from my GMail account.
What am I doing wrong?
Have you got some filters on?
Go to settings in the contacts app and check
When I open contacts, I click the touch button that looks like a few horizontal lines. I select Display options and it takes me to a new page that has my gmail account. In there the first option "System Group" is the only one selected.
Are those the filters that you refer to?
contact>> display option >> gmail accounts >> check all the checkbox
it should be appear now..

How to Sync "My Contacts" instead of "All Contacts"?

So I searched on google how to sync only "My Contacts" instead of "All Contacts" and it pulled up some threads for the HTC Hero. This one had a solution...
"Now I think I've got it!
"People" - I see you mean the picture of the people.
"Groups" - Yes, I see it says "Groups" at the top of the screen.
"Menu" - Yes, now when in this screen, I click on the "Menu" button.
"Sync Groups" - Yes, now I click on the "Sync Groups" button.
All list appears as follows:
1) Sync All contacts
2) My Contacts
3) Group Name #1
4) Group Name #2
5) Group Name #3
etc.
Because "Sync All contacts" was checked, all below were checked.
I de-selected "Sync All contacts"
I selected "My Contacts" as the only one to be checked.
Since "My contacts" has all the contacts I want to be sync'd, I left this one as the only one to be checked.
I think the problem is now resolved.
Mission Accomplished."
Problem is, when I follow these steps and press menu while in groups, there is no "Sync Contacts" option. Only "Add Group" and "Delete Groups".
Anyone have a solution to this?

Google calander driving me nuts

I know at least one other person has experienced this as I found this
When I add an appointment in the calendar, I always get this message:
"New event
Local calendar does not sync with Google calendar.
If you want to sync with Google, please add Google account"
Then a checkbox for "Go to account and sync"
and another: "Never show again"
Now, I have a Google account so not sure what I need to add.

I also know what the problem seems to be. It appears I have a local "My calendar" and a Googlemail one. I know this as I have a drop down option in each new appointment from which I can choose. I cannot however find a way to make the Googlemail one the default or delete the "My calendar" one.
This means if I forget to choose I do not sync with my Googlemail account nor my home PC. Anyone got any ideas ?
Screeny attached. (Personal info edited out)
Just open calendar, press settings and choose the calendar you want...
You can disable 'my calendar' also from there

That is the settings page. You can effectively select which calendar/s you want to display but you cannot disable them they are still running but the appointment in that calendar are not shown when you open the calendar app. and even if the "My calendar" is de-selected when you try to create a new appointment it still defaults to "my Calendar". It cannot be removed or disabled and you cannot make "Googlemail" the default.
Use a rom with all that samsung rubbish removed! Simples!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I'm not a fan of the default calendar input etc, so I use Calengoo and in that I can select which calendar it defaults to and displays, but it costs a few dollars. Maybe try something like Jorte. I just preferred the way they worked over the stock calendar.
I had this problem but with some ROM update it went away. What ROM version are you using?
Mine always and with any ron defaults to Google.
Once selected it stays default
You can try to erase all settings and set it up again
It doesn't do that on my version (2.3.4 JVP), the default calendar I select in the settings is the one it uses.
Maybe try clearing the data for the calendar by going to
settings->Applications->Manage Applications->tab All
And selecting Calendar storage and doing a clear data.
Maybe that will clear the problem (but you will have to reconfigure
your calendar, but if everything is synced to google it should be ok)

Again thanks. I have done that as well. It only started after the 2.3.3 update (official) I can't understand why there is a "My Calendar" as well as the Googlemail one, just do not see the point.
Just to clarify how it works for me, I have all of the calendars enabled in the settings (including the phone only "My Calendar". That just indicates that they should be displayed on the calendar.
When I add a new event (tap to create) one of the entry fields is the calendar I want to create the event in. Once I set that (and actually create an event, if you cancel it doesn't stick) it automatically defaults to that calendar for subsequent events that I create.
That is how to set the default calendar being used.

Contacts' Birthdays not showing up in S Planner

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (GT-N9005) running on DarkLord ROM.
I've been using the ROM for quite sometime now but only until today that I noticed my contacts' birthdays are not showing up in my S Planner. I've tried almost everything I can find on the internet from syncing Google Calendar to clear data and cache of the Calendar Storage and S Planner to making sure my calendar setting for "Display contacts' birthday" is turned on. Nothing works...
I really need help on this on... I've saw someone saying:
Open Calendar and tap menu -> Calendars to display. At the bottom of the screen, tap "Calendars to sync" button. For each calendar (if you have more than one), check the box next to "Contact's birthdays and events".
But I just can't find the "Calendar to sync" button. Please help! Thanks in advanced
