I have two fassys your getting my dev one after I declare these builds stable. You aren't getting my extended battery one with 64gig sd. No, that's my baby.
hhp also has two fassys.
and the reason for this development is because I absolutely adore the WM8994. this phone is like a toyota supra to me.
and that this is the original galaxy s, which went from rfs to ext4, bml to mtd, linux 2.6 to 3.0.101(Someday 3.4 , and now to f2fs and lp gives it sentimental value to me aside from the audio. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288093 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233273 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=956349 http://project-voodoo.org/history Supercurio is right up there with NWavguy for me. dude please don't send me a fassy lol
im a teenager and my parents would get worried
and yea the fascinate was always a kickass little music player device, but i'm not the biggest audiophile in the world and Qualcomm's DAC does the trick for me just as well as the Wolfson dac in the fascinate did. lol

were you part of the lollipop port for the fassy? or are you just a close bystander?

aries kernel and aries-common was already updated. the only work that needed to be done was to bringup the device tree. i provided the files to xc racer and helped him with partitions. then i tested the build and showed him what needed to be fixed. he is responsible for the bringup, i'm responsible for debugging, and humberos did the kernel. several people did aries-common. i'm now going to be the maintainer for this device. and will be responsible for improving performance, compatibility, and doing bug fixes. the kernel still needs a lot of work.
EDIT: and hhp was my tester and will remain so.

New to everything here
Hello everyone, I am new to this website as well as flashing and ROMs. Could someone help me get started on how to flash this lollipop onto a Samsung Mesmerize? (US Cellular version of Fascinate)

My fascinate is my best dev device I have! My only other dev device is my LG Lucid, but it is very buggy and I can't get binary blobs or even compile for it. My other devices have locked bootloaders, that's no fun.
FYI, Ubuntu 14.04 with LXDE desktop environment is probably the best dev environment, because Unity just takes too much power!

screw off with that. i have arch on my p4 box. i'll let you see my kernel later hehe. ubuntu even with lxde would make me puke. i sont even have a mouse plugged in. tty1
p.s. windows 10 pro makes me happy. uefi bios updater. alpha drivers for everything. all 'paid' version software. vmware ws pro puts out enough power for me to make every now and then builds ok. i grew up on xp.
as you can tell though, im a rolling release type of guy. anything less is unacceptable.

Spam Cyanogen?

My cousin recently put his Streak to rest because he upgraded to the Motorola Atrix, he was saying how the Streak became the forgotten golden child. I was thinking why not Spam Cyanogen on Twitter and ask for Streak development? Maybe someone would be bold enough or kind enough to offer him a an old Streak to work on? Long shot but I don't think it would hurt to try.

Don't spam Cyanogen, they are willing to make rom for Streak (actually DJ_Steve tried it), but nobody can because we don't have all drivers for Dell Streak (audio driver was not released and Dell won't release it in the future).
But if you want to spam something, check this:

+1. Motoblur is the worst android coding I've ever seen. It doesn't even run well on many dual core phones.

CM7 isn't overrated, its AOSP with tweaks, built-in overclocking settings, status-bar tweaks, unlock screen tweaks, DSP manager, all built from source, no bloat, very fast and compatible... nothing to not like about it.
As far as audio drivers not working, Fards seems to have it working just fine in his fork of the 'alpha' gingerbread source code that Dell released, so I'd say that's patently false... Although his kernel is still quite buggy (certain sensors not working, wakelock issues, etc)... I'd say his kernel fork is probably the closest thing to getting CM working on our Streaks.
The work Fards/AWD_Maniac have done is phenomenal, that being said, I have no idea how much work would need to be done to make the kernel work with a CM7 userland.
*edit*, the Atrix blows, also being obnoxious never got anyone anywhere.
I too think that Fards/AWD_Maniac did great job, but just check the forums with CM6.1 alpha and MIUI alpha from DJ_Steve. He stopped the development because audio was not working and he needed audio drivers for Dell. I believe, that if there will be some way he will make it. I am not sure if you can make driver for something you know nothing about and without support.
But of course it will be nice to have CM/MIUI for our devices.
Anyway, please comment and vote, if you check page 3/4, there are people asking for Gingerbread. Actually Amy from Dell wrote on twitter that who wants Gingerbread should vote/post there:
http://www.ideastorm.com/ideaView?id=087700000008XYuAAM#comments
So I am asking everyone - please go there and give there as many votes as possible. Create another accounts, ask your friends etc.
We can have at least Gingerbread officially!

Maybe you're not getting what I'm saying, Fards is already compiling kernels for gingerbread... FROM SOURCE, even if binary blobs are being used for audio libraries, they were compiled for Linux kernel 2.6.35, the version needed by GB. I don't think this is a stumbling block for anyone anymore since we now have a working kernel from source for gingerbread.
It seems that DJ_Steve never had too much luck compiling the Android userland for the Streak, in fact, I don't think anyone really has, except for those TERRIBLE MIUI/CM ports, but I'm thinking even those were binary rips. All the Streakdroid versions (sans 2.0.0) used pre-compiled files from official dell builds for the Android userland.

Looks neat. I'm curious if we'd even have the space for it all -- that pesky 317mb rom limit we have. If I were you, I'd keep an eye on Defy Dev forums -- if it can work on our platform, one of em will get it working.
Yea I'll be keeping an eye on it for ya it's apparently supposed to release on the 25th? I think that'll be the source.
Ubuntu seems to be very sexy OS. I would love to install it on Bravo. The Ubuntu founder said that it would be very easy to install it on android mobile phone (hmm.. very easy for whome??). I use Fedora desktop now, but who knows, maybe i will switch to Ubuntu on my PC too.
I wish they'd make desktop Ubuntu that smooth haha. I like the new Icon set and the way the apps look

I use Ubuntu based distros for a long time and none of them provides stability, performance acceptable for my needs.
So I think that will be the same story with Ubuntu Phone.
Also IMHO Canonical made a mistake posting UP news over the internet and after declaring that imgs will be available on Autumn.
Till that time Android will, probably, have 5.1 - 5.2 upgrade

I used to like Ubuntu, then I "upgraded" to 9.04. I've only used Ubuntu for about 4 hours since -- was going to use it for android dev work, but the first reboot killed my wifi and nothing I did could fix it (Ubuntu 12.10\Mint13?). Personally, imho, if you like Ubunut you should just learn to use Debian -- its Ubuntu's base and much more stable (they're "unstable" repos are rock solid for the most part, more-so than Ubuntu's stable anyways ). I wish they'd make a Debian Phone....or a Gentoo Phone -- imagine doing an emerge -e world on your phone .
Have you tried Manjaro Linux? Its my current distro of choice (though I still recommend Debian to newer Linux users). Manjaro is like Linux Mint, only based on Arch Linux. I'm using their testing repos and my only issues come from using the latest kernel (3.7.7-ck patch set), it would be rock solid if I had the common sense to stay with the stable 3.6 kernel .
//JellyX bootloops like crazy with Bravo PA, where the Quarx kernel has been rock solid (at least it has for the last 12 hours in the Defy). It'll take ~105 minutes to compile a new build, ~100 more to test and upload...be back later.
//JellyX doesn't like green lens phones -- Defy or Bravo...I've never once been able to use JellyX for more than 3 minutes w\o a boot loop . It usually doesn't even boot for me :crying:.
Yea I liked that version of linux but I run all of the gui off of my mac so i can run something nice but have my server do all the work so basically i just ssh from Mac OS X into ubuntu server (no-gui) and compile away!
And also skeevy if you could pm me with some rom creation help i would be grateful i'm trying to do some work with quarx's 2.6 kernel and getting it to boot with cm7 or even compile for that matter isn't exactly working out :/
-Also do you know a way to slim down the repo manifest so that it doesn't repo sync EVERY DEVICE KNOWN TO MAN!?!?!?
Ubuntu phone OS has just been released (according to softpedia)
sadly it's just the image no source I think :/

Had a really late day today, just got cleaned up and going to bed . Gonna have another late one tomorrow from the looks of it.
Here's the answer I received from Maniac103 on removing all the devices from CM7 about a year ago. Hope it helps.
In CM7, you need to remove the devices you're not interested in from vendor/cyanogen/products/AndroidProducts.mk; after doing that, omitting them from the checkout should work.
Ok sounds good.

i really want multirom and bcmon also on the oneplus one what else needs to get ported to the oneplus?
Sailfish/MultiROM for the OnePlus One
I'm familiar enough with the process of porting/building SailfishOS that I could probably get it running on the OnePlus One in less than a weekend. The hardware looks similar enough to the Nexus 5 - at least as far as the Qualcomm parts are concerned - that it should be a fairly simple port.
I've been trying to save up for a new phone for a while, but I haven't found one that I like enough to buy at unlocked-phone prices.
Call me cheap, but I felt like I overpaid for my Nexus 4 - which I probably did, because I traded a tablet for it.
I don't tend to develop low-level stuff like this for phones I don't own or at least plan to buy, but I have a long history of "porting" Linux distributions (mainly Debian and non-Unity, "desktop" Ubuntu) to Android phones by modifying the kernel to load the root filesystem from a microSD card, among other things.
Before you get too excited, remember that I may or may not be able to get everything working immediately - just look at how long camera support has been missing from Sailfish on the Nexus 4. On that note, the Sailfish camera HAL is in flux right now, but once it stabilizes, getting the cameras working should be easier.
By the time I get an invite and get around to buying a One, there's bound to be other people working on it, especially if this is as important as I think it is.
TL;DR: In a few weeks I should have money, in another few weeks I should have a device, and shortly after that there should be code.
I'm pretty confident that it should be relatively easy to get the port started, but don't expect miracle-speed progress towards getting all the hardware working.

MULTIROM for the Oneplus is a port, the Sailfish support is a reflection of this. You'll need a working image of Sailfish .. AFAIK no-one has made one yet for the Oneplus.
Anyone know if this is being developed?
I would love to see sailfish on the oneplus one. Does anyone know if this is being currently worked on or if there a compatible version out there on the net?

ubuntu

So, I have decided to compile and get ubuntu running on our devices. I have the TMO Note 4.
If anyone has a donor device, or can give me some pointers I want to get all this running nicely.
No goal is unobtainable.
I will like to see this if we can get dual boot [emoji14]
and what about miui 6? there is recently released miui 6 patchrom. Do you know miui? I am asking you this because we are two and we want to port it but we have weak knowledge. Maybe you can help us
and this is how miui 6 look like
http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=34895&extra=page=1&page=1&mobile=no
and there are some of thousands official themes for miui
http://en.miui.com/thread-112322-1-1.html
First of all i don`t think it`s nice of you to come in here and state there's no real custom roms out there for the Note 4, there's a lot of movement in the threads and developers work their butt off providing the latest and the best experience for the device. That said, let`s say i`m willing to give you a N910F donor device for development purpose, what have you got to show for it? Being a newbie ( at least your XDA account shows it ) there doesn`t seem much that shows anything worth to mention.
You sure this ain`t a cheap way of getting yourself a Note 4?

Let's face it, there are too many touch wiz roms, and nothing really "custom" out there for the Note 4.
So, I have decided to compile and get ubuntu running on our devices. I have the TMO Note 4.
If anyone has a donor device, or can give me some pointers I want to get all this running nicely.

if you already have a TMO n4, why would you need a donor device?
and if dual boot works it's even easier to try it all
but porting Ubuntu does sound like a fun project, maybe you can use cm12 stuff to speed up the porting :fingers-crossed:
and i would love to help but i have no idea about porting and i'm already busy with n4 and s6 edge development
good luck though! :good:
My Apologies

First of all i don`t think it`s nice of you to come in here and state there's no real custom roms out there for the Note 4, there's a lot of movement in the threads and developers work their butt off providing the latest and the best experience for the device. That said, let`s say i`m willing to give you a N910F donor device for development purpose, what have you got to show for it? Being a newbie ( at least your XDA account shows it ) there doesn`t seem much that shows anything worth to mention.
You sure this ain`t a cheap way of getting yourself a Note 4?

My apologies, you are correct about custom roms. What I meant is we don't have MIUI, Firefox, etc. Yeah skinned versions of Android, yet some people like them.
I want to do something no one else has done, and bring something to the table.

I've only ever worked with twizz roms before but have now got a dedicated linux machine. I was trying to teach myself to compile from source but Ubuntu sounds very interesting and would love to be involved but not sure how much help I'd be

That's all I have now is my ubuntu laptop.
What I found out is ubuntu touch is based on cm10.1.
They don't have 3g/4g/let working for some systems.
I am reading about how to compile. Hensel why I need a donor device, just in case I super brick. Bricking out my only phine would suck.
I haven't figured out how to pm, so if anyone can talk to me like via Skype, and help me learn. PLEASE!

Why would I donate you a Note 4 to brick it? lol.
Sounds like a fun project according to me. Did not heard ubuntu ported since note 2.
But have not enough money to give away a note 4.
NOTE 4 running Ubuntu/Windows10
Ladies and Gentleman,
John here, I have spent at least 5 days trying to port windows 10 to the Note 4, (turns out its not possible) windows 10 requires secure boot and bypassing this is a pain in the ass, so I've given up.... it is 5/12/2017 and I've arrived very late to this thread but I got my note 4 out of the drawer and decided to turn it into a portable Linux pc, I spent 4 weeks porting Ubuntu to the note 2 in 2015 and dropped the project because there was many issues getting all the drivers to work but so far porting Ubuntu to the note 4 is working well but it needs quite a bit of glitches to be fixed, im trying to get the 4G gsm module to work and the sound but soon this will be working great and I will share my finished product.

If you are being serious, I have have a N910V and I am trying to get my name out in the dev world. I am willing to help you in your project and confident in my experience at recovering a bricked device enough to say that I would sacrifice my phone for this project. I am still new to compiling sources but with a little guidance I am sure I can help you.

I also have a N910T and am willing/would love to be a part of this and help get Ubuntu working on my Note 4. I will help in any way I can.. I have been searching for a port of Ubuntu for some time now so I was VERY excited when I saw your OP. I know this might sound odd but the main reason I wanted to run Ubuntu was for native development. In the same situation as @sawdoctor I have also been trying for about a year to compile a kernel but for some reason I just can't figure it out ha. I don't have my computer with me during the day but I have my phone and plenty of time so I was looking for a way to compile the kernel source with my device. And although I obviously don't know that much about development, I figured what better way to start that running Ubuntu. It's crazy to me i couldn't find one single guide or post about how to build a kernel with the phone you want to run it on. Seems like it should be easy ha. I have have tried termux, gnu-root, cc-tools, kbox3,........you name it and I have a TB of it ha. So all rambling aside, just let me know what or if you need anything

Your Help would be greatly appreciated, currently I'm working in the graphics, the note 4 has a high pixel sensitivity and the Items are very small, resizing things isn't working too well so I'm trying to figure out away to enlarge buttons and Icons

Not at all, Ubuntu isn't sizing things properly and it's almost impossible to use the touchscreen to click buttons, can only be used with a mouse, just getting otg to work was a pain to plug in a mouse, there's some options In Ubuntu for resizing but they don't help that much.

Hmm. Well maybe resizing everything could be an acceptable approach but if windows and android have different "skins" maybe we could make a custom gnome launcher that works better with the small screen, but as far as the drivers and the kernel, is it stable, and what model have you compiled it for?

if you finished your project, i'd love to try it on my device.
Hey bro. Any progress? i just ran across a kde plasma active installer for nexus 7 that uses multirom to flash linux to ext sd. Would it maybe be possible to adapt the script to our device being that we have EFIDroid and Multisystem?
I've been working on porting Halium (needs for Ubuntu touch now) to my device, I haven't gotten the graphics to work yet but with the work I've got done so far we could get the graphics working then get other OSes that support Halium working (I.e. plasma os, sailfish, and possibly even post market os) if your still trying to get this working let me know and I'll contribute what I can to help, I still DD my n910p cause I like the form factor of my note 4, hate the glitchy issues that sprint forced into its software though. I have gotten Ubuntu to boot to a headless system setup, but that's not useful for what my end game is, its just a step in the right direction.

Call to all devs and testers

Hey guys I recently started Android development and am trying to do a CyanogenMod bring-up and I am wondering if anyone still owns tegra note and are willing to test if it is successful further I would also like to know if there are any developers owning tegra note and are willing to work on it. It'll certainly make the task easier. That's all folks I'm hoping the community isn't dead
Yeah I have an EVGA Tegra Note 7. I'm willing to experiment with builds.
I can also test your builds.
So guys I think I've made some progress although it's still not building. I'll continue to work on it if anyone is interested then here is link to my repo feel free to fork or modify or work with me by making pull-requests
p.s I'm new in xda so cant post links but you can go to my profile and then the repo
skoar/device_Tegra-Note-7/tree/cm-11.0
wow, i think it is not too late, Tegra 4 is still good for play. i hope i can test your build .
Hi, can I help you with beta tester !!!
I can help testing
i have xolo tegra note 7 can can test build.. i seriously need this tablet alive and kicking. i have basic fastboot knowledge , i own yu yureka , redmi note 3 handset and i this handset are developers fav so u can understand why i brought tegra note 7 cause custom rom gonna make this device beast. but sadly this doesn't happen, you have enlighten our hopes. i was tester for kernel and roms for few roms too.
also for more tester and fast spread news you can ask here
plus.google.com/communities/107930429626808861984
So it seems like there are still tegra note users out there good to know. Currently my exams are going on so I'm away from my lappy but once it has ended i.e, on 18 I'll get back to it. I've got it to build just got to take care of some errors. I won't be making any promises but I'll give it my all. Just sit tight for now will give build once I'm done........
Hi. I can also help testing, but I'm not a dev

I hope that this device is not abandoned.
Oww its nice to know that we Will can test!
TKS Guy!
I will gladly test this rom out also and can give feed back via bootlogs, etc. my device is just sitting here taking up space and powered off waiting for something wonderful to happen.
It's great to see so many users interested in testing but currently my final exams are going on so no development gotta focus on studies. I will again start on 24th. I've made considerable progress and I'm not abandoning this device we'll get cm on this but for the time being gather more developers it'll certainly make the task easier
It's been 1 and a half months since I started the bring up and I guess it's time for some update on the progress. First of all I was finally able to get the device tree right and buildable and .......... Hell yeah the build was able to complete. I'm pretty sure WiFi is broke but I got it to build now fixing things would be easier. But there has been some complications on the way the reason there is no cm...zip. There are .IMG files and need to be flashed from fastboot. Now about testing you guys could volunteer to fastboot these files or wait a little more probably till this Sunday.
Those guys whose exact feelings are ' I'm dyyyyyiiinnnggg to get cm on my device and super angry on nvidia guys for not giving a decent well organized device tree. I'll go on a rampage if I don't get the build' will be given the files
While
Those whose exact feeling are ' oh well it's done, great to hear but I'll like to wait till Sunday' will get the build on Sunday.
So testers choose from the above two and let me know what you want

I am the guy angry on nvidia also cm lover .. but thing is that as we know this is tablet and without wifi we can't test few things like apps stuff.. so if you can fix wifi, then I can flash fastboot IMG file only if you are sure that it will not break my tablet ?

As for now, I regret I can't test anything because the power button of my tegra note is not working. I will test it when it gets repaired.
Thanks for your work.
