There is no 23.4.A.1.28 ,there is only 23.1.A.1.28 which it's lollipop 5.0.2 and 23.4.A.0.546 is lollipop 5.1.1
"and what this R7C , R5C , R3C . R1A means at the end of those numbers "
Same doubt!
Those are the customization numbers (CDA). Afaik the only difference between them is the different bloatware you get.
I think the r4c, r5c, etc are revisions. Sony released r4c for USA firmware .28 when it first started rolling out. Soon after that, they released r5c which to me looks to be the exact same thing, possibly minor tweaks under the hood that nobody really notices. Could be wrong but though.
@bdithug the thing is the number doesn't consistently bump up with newer firmwares. It seems random.
It's a revision number of the firmware. It's specific to the current region.
For example Sony updated once the bloatware in Customized DE build and they bumped the revision number from R3C to R4C.
Basically you shouldn't worry about those numbers at all.

Hi all.. thought I'd create a little thread to track where the upgrade has been rolled out to and which customisations...
please please please NO DISCUSSION IN THIS THREAD I want to keep it as clean as possible.
I will endeavour to keep the OP updated.

*brand (eg. Rogers, vodafone, t-mobile etc) this is not your network provider.. it's only applicable if your network provider has customised the software themselves prior to release.

Sorry OP, I've to clarify this.
The title says it's Android v2.3.3. Are you sure you go the official retail update?
I mean not "Flashtool" or the "Gtalk" update which will give you Android v2.3.3?
Aren't the upgrades mentioned here?
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/
No..the specific region branding updates are highly unlikely to be listed there.
I only want official updates.
Google video talk does NOT put 2.3.3 on your phone. It fakes it.

My big question would be regarding the bloatware. I wonder whether, if I do just wipe cache and log, the bloatware from my old firmware would add bloatware with the new firmware. Before installing the German firmware, my device had Taiwan firmware!

Strangely, XperiaFirm lists this update for Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP512 Japanese VMo version:
Code:
Device: Xperia Z2 Tablet (SGP512)
CDA: 1285-4559
Market: Japan
Operator: VMo JP
Network: JAPAN-WIFI32G
Release: 23.0.1.A.4.30 / R3B
Size: 1,14 GB
I'm currently downloading it but a bit afraid to try on my Z2 Tablet as even PC Companion does not notify this update...
Someone can confirm if it works?
OK, just to close this: it works!
So this 23.0.1.A.4.30 firmware (exact same as Z3) is heading to Z2 Tablet at least...
This thread is here in order to stop spamming our forum with new FTF files. Instead we can all link them here so they can be more easier to find, rather then going thread hunting for one that suits your needs.
This works on both Unlocked and Locked bootloaders. Root is not required to flash FTF files.
Thanks to @Joel16 for the idea.
See the full list of contributors at the end of the page
If possible, could a moderator pin this? So it's easy visible for new users.
If you have an FTF, leave an comment with the FW, region and download link and I'll update the thread. (MEGA.co.nz preferred)

It's for an specific carrier. But since the model number is the same, it can be flashed on any tablet with the same model number. (It just might contain extra bloatware.)
