Hello, can someone hepl me with conection to network by HSDPA?
I live in Ireland and i bought internet from here: http://www.buy4now.ie/3g/productdetail.aspx?pid=622&loc=P&catid=2.1
I get this modem with sim card and when i conect it by usb everythink works fine, but when i put the sim card to my SHIFT in Snapvue side it detect 3G signal but Comm Manager will say : ''THERE IS NO DATA SESSIONS ACTIVE. PROGRAMS CONNECT AUTOMATICALLY AS NEEDED. TO CHANGE CONNECTON SETTINGS, TAP SETTINGS.''
When i bought this, in shop the employee make some registration of sim card and modem, i mean the modem have own IMEI and S/N numbers which was registered for work only each other. Maybe i will need to change my SHIFT MODEM IMEI to same as this HUAWEI MODEM USING. It's Huawei Model E220 HSDPA MODEM, FCC ID : QISE220
I was calling to 3G tech support, they sayd i can't using them broudband w/t HUAWEI modem.
Can someone help me ? Thank you very much...
If your 'Snapview' side of the Shift did not recognise the card at startup, you may need to use a different SIM card as Ireland 3G is not supported within the operator settings in 'Snapview' basic.
You need to then 'Liberate' Snapvue, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378234
Then you can load the Ireland 3G settings if anybody will supply them to you, not sure if they are available as a standalone settings cab.
Hope this helps.
I got it
I used setings for UK 3g and then i changed only one thing in netw. settings, i edited the name from something UK 3g net to 3ireland.ie that's it, now it's working, i will test it and i post my experience here later
I did it on clasical HTC WM, not in full WM
Good for you.
You yourself will probably help a few others with that.
I imagine you changed the APN within Connections which then allowed Network access.
If all goes well can you post exactly what you did for others to use.
Good luck.
Hi guys,
Was wondering if you could help with something.
I am in Bolivia at the moment and working out in a remote town with little WiFi.
The phone network ENTEL here sells '4G' dongles (hdpsa+ hupsa actually)* with unlimited data for no money at all so I picked one up. Plugged it into a computer, installed the software and it connected and works great.
However when I tried to put the SIM from my dongle in my Galaxy S2 it will not work. Just says emergency calls only and does not seem to connect to anything. I have enabled packet data and apn settings seem present.
With the same phone as a test I took a normal ENTEL sim card (not from dongle) and this connected to network and EDGE data and I was able to access websites etc over mobile internet no worries (although it costs a lot).
I'm sure none of you will be familiar with the Bolivia phone networks but perhaps on basic principals you can help. IE why doesn't my dongle simcard work in my phone for data?
Thanks so much in advance.

If it's.like it is here in Costa Rica then the SIM cards used for the data dongles are coded for just that and can't be used in phones... Mainly because usage plans.are different they won't allow anyone to use it for data on phones whose plans data plans are twice as much.
Now if that's not the case there then it's probably hardware related such as in frequencies... The dongle SIM may be for a different radio band than what you're phone can pick up
My home 3g wifi modem stopped working 6 months ago so I now use my old galaxy s as the modem. The sim is data only that's meant for a dongle / pocket wifi but it works fine. Just had to enter the virgin broadband apn and that was it. The sim is a 3g sim and the phone is unlocked.
Never tried a 4g sim though. Very good chance the 4g uses a different network frequency than the phone supports. But I would think a 4g sim should still connect to the 3g/H/Edge frequencies.

Since we moved from central Africa back to France my wife's note 4 cannot get connected to mobile data...
All was working well - cell phone/3G (only 3G provided) and wifi but now mobile data is no longer working.
Tried her sim card in another phone and 3/4G is working so the sim is ok...checked the internet and it looks like they are using the same frequency bands so if it worked in Central Africa it should also work here in France.
The phone in question is an ex sprint (P model) which got flashed to European standards - its modem is for the European networks.
Should I try to flash another modem and if so which one? I understand that I cannot just flash any modem?

Checked them and found them to be absent...filled them out and now mobile data is working.
I have bought more than a few mobile phones the last couple of years and this is the first time I had to manually enter the APN settings...anyway, glad that it is solved. No need to flash another modem!
I am currently in India, and trying to use my Essential PH1 with a Vodafone India 4G sim card. The SIM is not registering with the phone, and I am unable to get any network. I keep getting the message "your SIM is not allowed to use this network". I have tried contacting the local service center, but they tell me that the handset settings need to be changed. The same SIM works well with other phones in India.
I am using a Vodafone India 4G sim.. its a 'postpaid' connection (if that matters). When I manually select the network, all the available networks are listed, when I select "choose automatically", a message pops up "already registered on the network", but i dont get any signal.
When I manually try to select Vodafone IN from the list, pop up message says "your SIM is not allowed to use this network"
I have checked with Vodafone customer care, and they are sure its a phone config issue.
The same SIM works perfectly fine in any other handset. (Currently running the same SIM in Nexus 5)
Since this phone has not been launched in India yet, there is no technical knowledge or troubleshooting database available locally. Would you be able to help me with the correct settings so that the I can continue using the phone in India?
HI
I am having the same Issue with my phone, just bought it from US. indian SIMS not registering, were you able to find a solution for this?
Thanks
No.. not yet. The Essential customer care was supposed to get back, but they are not responding since the last couple of days. Do keep in touch if you are able to find a solution...

Hi
Received an OTA today for the device, Airtel and Vodafone are now registering ,. Jio is not able to register.
Cheers
I'm having a similar problem in Japan with Softbank, which ironically bought Sprint - the sole carrier of the phone in the USA.
There is no signal at all, and when selecting Softbank manually from the list of carriers, an error message stating it can't authenticate on the network popped up.
I faced the same issue a week ago, with both Airtel and Jio not registering the device on their networks. Yesterday, I booted up the phone again, installed the OTA, and was on my way to the Airtel store to talk about it. When I put in my SIM and turned it on, it got a signal and LTE data. I didn't try the same with Jio.
The most likely reason for the phone not being detected initially is that Essential has just one SKU, as far as I know, with all IMEIs of the 99x series. That's the typical IMEI series for Verizon and Sprint in the US, which are CDMA networks. Most other GSM IMEIs are of the 35x series.
I had planned to contact Essential support about this, but I didn't get down to it. I'm not sure what exactly made it work the second time. Maybe the OTA update changed something, or maybe Airtel took a while to auto-register (whitelist) the IMEI of this phone after it first detected it being used with a legitimate Airtel SIM. Regardless, it works just fine now.
NOTE: After I was able to get a signal, I could see the LTE symbol with no internet connectivity. I changed the preferred network type to "Global" in Settings and then it worked just fine. The default setting of LTE/TDSCDMA/CDMA/EVDO/GSM/WCDMA didn't allow data, only calls and SMS.
Yes am too facing same problem with essential PH1
used all operator Indian 4g / 3g sim card
even cdma also ...no result ...no network
Product Name -Mata
Variant Openus
Baseband 2.0.c4-M1.2
Secure boot Yes
Device State Locked
anyone some clue ???
regards,
When using outside of the U.S.A change network type to Global. Secondly insert the Sim (with the phone turned off). You should receive service when you turn the device on. In case you don't, give it a moment.
I had to replace my Sim as a last resort and then it worked without a problem.
Good luck.

I've got a very weird issue with my Galaxy S8 (SM-G950FD)
After working fine for about 1.5 years on the network it suddenly wasn't able to make and receive calls anymore on the Lebara (Vodafone) network in Australia.
The issue spontaneously disappeared a few hours after it first surfaced but reappeared and has not gone away since.
Internet and Txt/MMS are working normally. But when someone calls me it goes straight to voicemail and when I call nothing happens for a minute or so and then it "disconnects" but no tone
When I go into the phone app and try to retrieve settings like caller ID and/or forwarding it gives the following error:
Failed to read data
Something went wrong. Check your
Sim Card or network connection,
then try again
When I insert the sim into an S7 it's working. When I insert the sim from the S7 into the S8 (Optus network) the S8 works as well.
I've performed a factory reset (without restoring the settings)
I've gotten a new sim and Lebara has ported the number to it but that didn't help
Being a dual sim I've tried using the shared sd/sim slot but same issue.. data/mms/txt working no voice.
I've tried copying the apn settings the S7 displays with the Lebara sim to the S8 but that didn't help either.
I've now used Odin to flash the phone back to the Oreo version with the December 2018 security update and that didn't help either.
Any other ideas?
Thanks
I've managed to narrow down the issue a bit.
Also went out to purchase a Vodafone Pre-paid sim. That one didn't work either at first but after some troubleshooting with support of Vodafone we've found out that the S8 doesn't connect to the 3G network of Vodafone Australia.
When I have the SIM of another provider in there and limited the network mode to 2G/3G autoconnect the phone just finds the 2 other networks on 3G (AFAIK 2G has been phased out).
I've tried to get into the advanced service mode but this doesn't seem to be possible anymore.
Is there a way to try to see which bands are active on the S8 and better yet enable them all?
