How is this more effective/better than AdBlock Plus for Android ?

Adblock plus for android is crap. It uses a precious 50MB of RAM and keeps running in the background. By using adaway or adfree, you won't have to give any share of RAM to them. They modify the hosts file and add a huge list of known ad sites and 99.9% of all the ads are blocked. So, no RAM usage and an adfree phone
I personally use Adfree.

hey i want to root my alcatel 4033 because of the 512mb of memory, most of it is used up by preinstalled apps but i dont know what to do after rooting it. Can any one help me? i can help my self when it comes to technology and i can follow instuctions
Hi there, i have the same Phone. Got it rooted with the framaroot app. Then i searched the web for custom roms. First Nothing Then i came a cross this site http://www.442kitkat.info/mp3-0/alcatel-one-touch-pop-c3-5687.html. seems interessting? ! I will try to flash it and See how it works out

I got the A version (4033a) i guess. Without dual sim
Bull****. Got to complete a task/buy something. Forget about this link.
Hi, U can remove useless apps using root explorer or root app delete.. Or search for any other custom rom built for ur fone.
Without custom roms, usually this http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/framework-xposed-rom-modding-modifying-t1574401 . With the different modules available for everything from ad blocking to theming to customizing the lockscreen, this is about as custom as you can go without a rom.
I have an app

Hello ackeella27, I have an Alcatel POP C3 4033X and I had the same problem: preinstalled apps and some ram used by these (for example Viber, that sometimes used to crash even if I didn't open it). So i had decided to root my phone and remove these useless (for me) apps by deleting them from the system (they are in a folder called "/custpack/app/" in the case of 4033X but i don't know if it is the same for other model of POP C3).
But I use to reset my phone sometimes (with the decision to not install again too much apps xD ) so made an app, called "App Removal for Alcatel POP C3"
I think if you have 4033X model you can surely use it, if not but you decide even to try please tell me the result so I know that this app is also for another model of POP C3.
You can find the app atached the post; I've put an ads at the bottom because I'm planning to put it on Play Store
In the app, if you haven't already rooted your phone you can click "Get SU" button, and installation of Framaroot will be started: when it finishes open Framaroot and click Boromir. Restart the phone. You can open App Removal, and may modify the code, and then click "execute" button to remove the unnecessary apps.
I posted some sceenshot to show you how is the app
Description of used permissions:
1) SD Card
2) Network State and Internet
3) Superuser
1)To put Framaroot in the SD Card and start the installation process
2)To display Ads
3)To execute the root commands
I hope it works and is usefull
Have a nice day

Edit: The app is now obsolete: wait about one week and I will make a topic with the new app (better than this). Bye

Q did u als had this annoying message when u disable viber. Viber has stopped. Keeps popping up
Yes, so I reset my phone and delete it from the system. I think this phone's version of viber is bugged because if I install it from Play Store it function normally. If you would remove it feel free to use my app (it not remove only viber but also other programs, in future I update if with a cecklist of Alcatel system apps you can check to be removed, more comfortable)
Sent from my ONE TOUCH 4033X using XDA Free mobile app
Aight that woud be cool
This guide is for ROOTED AND NON ROOTED USERS]Ok so guys. I was just messing around because this auto update thing was annoying and found every single guide out there. Non of them did the job well. One even freezed the download at 100% but still in memory -_-
Soo I decided to do my digging myself and traced the exact sequence of the update to its core programs and believe it or not it doesn't even have the name ota or anything like that on it!
You can either do this rooted or unrooted but more efficient as root
It can work on any version as long as you see this program present>>>Amazon Device Client Platform or ADCP
Now I'm using a 3rd generation rooted and everything modded kindle (except custom Rom) but I am busybox and whatever
Which can be obtained by just downloading this loving program courtesy of peniscorp.com..if you wanna know if it works for you just download E.S file manager...goto /device and yes you can go there without root ..just go there and open build.prop and look.for Soho...if u see it...you're good to go ...
NOW LETS CUT TO THE CHASE
Step 1. Press the thanks.button down below
Step 2 Make sure u do number 1 lol
Step 3. Goto your device settings
Step 3 goto applications
Step 4 goto Manage applications
Step 5 in the drop down menu (assuming all versions have it )
And press "all applications"
Step 6 look for the program "ADCP" or Amazon Device Client Platform
Step 7 as non root user you can just fc it and clear data and cache and just avoid checking for updates! We don't wanna remind the device it should be installing updates
HOWEVER IF YOU ARE ROOTED
You could just fc it and use Droidwall or any other firewall app and look for that sucker and block it!
Don't ever try to uninstall it!
Rooted or not rooted ..those pesky updates won't bother u again!
Ps.
Droidwall is available on play store ...you can sideload it of course ..and the app it self has a pretty decent GUI so I don't think I need to get into detail on using the app
Well that's it folkes and believe me NO other ota update blocker works for the kfhd 7 2013 3rd generation and I have Looked everywhere and followed EVERY guide
They are Soo not fool.proof
So there you go guys hope it works as it did for me !

As the word "Useful" varies user to user. Here are some apps those I always keep on my rooted phone.
Titanium backup:-Helps to backup games+apps even with data. The most needy app as I am Flashaholic.Lol
Es file explorer:-My favorite file manager. You don't need root for normal using. But for advance use(like editing system file, set permission to system files etc) root is needed.
Ad blocker:-Help you to get rid of annoying add on web pages.
Tasker:-Apps for little bit of more advance user.Helps you to automate your device.Such as ,I want to silent my phone when I am school,it automatically does that.
Xposed:-There are several module in Xposed by which U can taste the flavours of such things those are not present on your ROM.There are a long list of modules.Just check it.
Greenify+Amplify+power nap+App oops Xposed:-Battery back up is Bad.Just give it a try.For instruction check here.
Viper4android+Dolby Atmos(optional):-A must apps for music lovers. It comes with its own driver.U can Controll many parameters of music sound.
Kernel adiutor:-Helps you to take control of various Kernel parameters.Just use it with little bit of concern.
Battery calibrator:-Useful apps If battery monitor is showing wrong information.Use it when U flash different Roms like me.
Link2sd:-Helps you to move app over to Sdcard.Smae as Apps2sd but works in different way(by creating link). Don't know if it will work in marshmallow or nougat. As there is now adaptable storage now.
Flashify or Rashr:-Don't have PC all time.Helps you to flash zip or image file without rebooting to recover, including zip file, kernels, boot image, recovery image etc.
Servicely:-Sometime some apps keep running at background and consume battery. This apps helps you to prevent those apps from running in background.
Root call blocker:-If your ROM don't come with call blocker option .This is a useful app.
There are also many apps like Lucky patcher,Wakelock blocker,Rom toolbox,Dumpster,GL tools,Gravity box,Sdfix etc,U can use.
Just make sure what U R doing before using most of those apps.As mishandling some apps may cause brick your phone.

If the stock kernel(coming with ur ROM) supports DT2W then there should be an option in kernel adiutor. If not then then there will be no option. If u want DT2W then u have to use another kernel which supports that.Look into your devices forum.

Which version of Android are you on?
The best way of flashing t.w.r.p is by fastboot.
1)Setup ADB and Fastboot on your PC.
2)Open a command window inside the folder where your TWRP recovery .img file is saved. To do that, “Shift + Right click” on any empty white space inside the folder and then select “Open command window here” from the context menu.
3)Connect your device to the PC, make sure USB debugging is enabled from Developer options.
4)Boot your Lenovo A6000 into Bootloader mode using the command below:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
5)Once your phone boots into bootloader mode, issue the following command to flash TWRP recovery image:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
6)Reboot your phone using the following command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
U can flash T.w.r.p.img by flashify or rashr app available on playstore. There should be an option like"flash/install recovery from SD card".Select the image file from there and flash it.
KitKat 4.4.4

SD Maid - is a Storage manager and gives you full control over every App on the System (Bootmanager, APK-exporter, System App uninstaller and freezer, App resetting, force close apps, rights manager and viewer).
It's a powerfull tool, handle whith care .
Titanium backup, if you deal with custom ROMs. Nandroid manager also a nice replacement.
Faster GPS - A one time setup that helps your GPS lock faster.
And +1 for AdAway. Helps with the enormously bugging sites that force ads on you. Just keep in mind that there are few (lame) apps that will not work after this is installed.
+1 for AdAway
also, instead of using their Host sources, you can use the consolidated hosts file from steven hosts
https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts
the host files are categorised and they also contain list from adaway
so, you can block more type of ads and specific ads too (like social/porn)
Where would I find the +1 app. I've looked on F-Droid site and googled it. The search results aren't turning up anything in regards to this app. Thanks for any responses.

What apps do you guys use to block ads and still get OTA updates?
I just got a Mi A1 and I intend to root it and install xposed, but with the OTA updates in mind.
If you guys have any suggestions they will be very much appretiated.

If you're talking about ads in browser just use firefox and install adblock plus in addons.
In youtube install youtube adaway you can search it here
In apps i don't know ?
Magisk systemless hosts + adaway = system wide ad blocking. Only very few apps are showing ads (those are probably using their own ads instead of standard ad servers).
For youtube I use ogyoutube with microg.
Without modifying the system you can still use the open source project http://blokada.org
I use block this! It creates a VPN which blocks ad dns hosts.

I've read it as well (only one guy who mentioned it btw.), but to be honest I do not believe it. I am using the latest Adaway version which has enabled "systemless mode" by default and it didn't modify my system hosts file. But I must admit that I didn't receive any OTA yet and had to always flash full ROM to update my system, so can't guarantee it

Yes, I flash full ROM via fastboot each month (did the same with my old Nexus 5X, so I'm used to it).
Magisk has a systemless adblock module called "Unified Hosts Adblock".
Don't block adverts. Ya, I may sound like a noob & jerk but that's the only way everyone of us get to use free contents. The developer & content creator won't be giving away stuffs for free if they don't earn. Support the Developers & content creator.

I support devs directly, I either purchase a full version or donate to them. If there is only "free" app filled with ads, I see no reason to not to block them. As soon as content creators start serving unobtrusive ads (web, youtube, ..) I'll stop blocking them. Until then...adaway is and will be my second installed app (the first one is Titanium backup pro ). Btw. there wasn't a single ad during past 20 years which I would be interested in, if I clicked on one, it was by mistake.
I use minminguard (xposed module). to update, simply flash full stock rom (keep user data in mi flash tool) then update ota. Unlock bootloader again, boot TWRP and flash magisk.
i had troubles updating to november patch due to adaway. i installed the latest adaway there is, it even said systemless hosts in option.. yet it did modify my hosts file directly - i checked this after i unistalled adaway + magisk
not sure if i did something wrong on my end, just saying that it didnt work for me systemless.. would like to hear if someone managed to get it to work tho
im now using unified adblock from magisk, works okayish

Not sure what went wrong on your end, but modifying system data would lead to fail of Safetynet check. I am running Magisk + systemless hosts + Adaway and Safetynet passes the check, so I assume that nothing has been written to the system. I will confirm once I actually receive an OTA, so far fastboot images were out earlier than mine OTA
