Cannot get data from VS980 on Tmobile - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cannot get data using Tmobile SIM on VS980 (although I get voice). APN is set correctly. I tried editing the build.prop with these values but that didn't work. In the 4636 phone menu I can select the GSM options and when selected, it tries to connect but doesn't succeed. Only luck I've had is if I set the phone to 3G, then reset the phone, on reboot I'll have HSPA and it works but only for a minute or two and then it disconnects.
I have latest Paranoid Android ROM (and have also tried latest Euphoria). I have tried 26a modem and 39a modem; same results.
This video shows a person successfully getting LTE on Tmo on a VS980 (Although it's KitKat, is that the trick?)

I tried flashing stock LP TMobile ROM ported to VS980 and that actually works; I get LTE. Tethering works strangely though, only some sites respond. I really hate the stock ROM though, hoping for another solution, especially since tethering is borked.
Update: Success! Not sure exactly what did it but here's what I have done: flashed xdadebb 39a bootstack. Flashed Euphoria 20150630. Set to GSM/LTE Auto in 4636 menu.

[Q] Roamin Indicator Off

I have been running Nightlies of CM11 everyday as they are released and normally I have no problems. One of them must have tripped something. Wherever "Sprint" is supposed to be--bottom of notification panel and under the signal in the quick setting panel--it says "Roaming Indicator Off." I normally wouldn't mind but with it is the inability to send MMS or connect to LTE.
I've flashed various APN zips to try to fix it that way to no avail. I've tried manually entering the apns and still nothing. I set the phone back to stock using ODIN and LTE and data worked fine. I rooted it again and install the pre unified build of JFLTESPR and data and lte worked, then when i wiped and installed M8 again came the roaming indicator off. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I really would like to get the kinks worked out so I can have LTE again.
It a problem with the ROM that has to be fixed by the developer.
Problem is fixed, it had to do with the the rom not asking for the pin to my sim card. I flashed an older build and used it to remove the need for the sim pin and then reflashed to the most current build.

HELP I broke my LTE

First off I'm using an unlocked S5 on straight talk's LTE network, have been for about 9 months with no problems. I've talked to support twice and they reactivated networks and all that good stuff, and when none of that worked sent me a new sim, which I have just activated and it still didn't fix my problem - so I'm finally bringing my issue here.
Last week I decided to update from phoenix rom oc4 (I think it was oc4) to optimal rom og5 (15-5). Anyway I was hasty in flashing and messed up, so just went back to stock ncg > root > full wipe > flash firmware, rom, kernel, firmware again just to be safe. The rom works fine except I seem to have lost my data connection. The 4G icon still shows, but it's not filled in - as you can see in the screenshots. To make it even more strange, when I check the network and sim card in apps like Advance Signal Status and Sim Manager, I still seem to be getting a connection to 4G but there is just no data flowing. The only error I can see is in phone info, when I run a ping test, I get PingIpAddr: Fail: IP addr not reachable which you can also see in the screenshots. It would appear this is my problem but I don't know where to go from here. I'm going to start flashing different versions of modems, starting with oc4 to see if that helps. Then I'll probably try different roms, but I've flashed other roms trying to fix this and even restored the backup to when it worked and it still didn't fix my problem. Did I wipe my IP address or something maybe? I am in CDMA/LTE mode, and the vzwinternet apn is selected.
For starters try to put the apn settings for your carrier and if not sure call them and ask them to email you the setting
I fixed it, went back to stock ncg instead of ni2 and that worked. Weird.

No LTE on VS980 through multiple ROMS

Hey guys,
So my Verizon LG G2 hasn't had 4G service for quite some time. I was running the Cloudy ROM and lost it. I flashed different ROMs in an attempt to get it back to no avail. I flashed back to stock through TWRP and still nothing. I came across a thread that gave instructions to flash using kdz or tot files but couldn't get those to work. My phone wasn't being recognized by the programs. I don't have access to another computer to test either so I'm stuck there. I've checked APNs and they all seem fine. I'm getting 3G service just fine and everything else about the phone is great. I'm currently running SlimROM but no 4g still. Anything I can do? Any input is appreciated!
Thanks,
Bewb

[Q] US996 on Verizon issues

I have several issues with my US996 on Verizon, running LineageOS 14.1. (I'm not asking in the LOS threads because I figure more people here know the details of this device)
The main problem is I can't get SMS to work unless I set the preferred network type to CDMA or CDMA/EVDO only. I have been using the "VZWINTERNET" APN.
Any time I set an option that includes LTE (including the "Global" setting), SMS/MMS stops working.
Also, the signal indicator works strangely, oftentimes when I have strong signal the signal indicator shows 0 bars.
Lastly, many of the fields in Settings/phone info/SIM Status are blank, eg phone number, signal strength and service state. (Perhaps this is a CDMA/Verizon idiosyncracy since the SIM is not the primary auth to the legacy CDMA network?)
Do I need to flash the VS995 radio to this device to address these things? Is that even feasible? What about what Verizon calls "Advanced Calling" options? Ideally I would love to have VoLTE and WiFi calling as well.
Thanks.

If youre device is abr0 you can use the patched dll version of lg up. https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4233875&d=1502007613 to flash vs955 firmware. I have found that the this version VS9951BA01 is the one has fastboot mode and can get to recovery if you want to use dirty santa on it. or if you get to the you have 9 attempts of 10 to enter the passcode. you will then need to factor reset to get the data formated. But this link has the full instructions. https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-patch-lgup-to-unlock-features-t3652222

Thanks for that tip, I will read up on it a bit later.
The main reason I got a US996 rather than a VS995 is the lack of an officially unlockable bootloader on the VZW variant and having to use an exploit to unlock/root it which only works on old firmware leading me into a potential trap if the device ends up in a state I can't either unlock/root or return to stock from.
I already unlocked the US996 bootloader - will that get reset if I flash a stock kdz onto it?
I tried using LGup shortly after I got the phone but I was having problems getting it to work on my Win7 workstation, perhaps I had the wrong version..
