Hi all,
I am kinda new here and would like to put a question, hoping it's not a repetition (I have been browsing though this forum thoroughly, but apparently couldn't find a proper answer). This is the situation:
- bought a used Z2
- Z2 was from UK O2 operator and it had operator lock and unlockable bootloader
- network operator lock has been cleared with unlock code
- O2 customized firmware has been wiped away by flashing a recent 5.0.2 stock lollipop
- unlockable bootloader still exists so cannot upload any customized/rooted .zip system
Clearly, the only thing I can do to modify this phone is to upload .FTF firmares to it, due to unlockable bootloader. Right now, I see available online only unmodified stock .FTF firmwares.
THE QUESTION: is there ANY way to create a pre-rooted .FTF file (modding not strictly necessay but rooting essential) so that I can upload it to the phone?

You can't modify .ftf files as they are signed by sony. easiest solution is to root your phone with kingroot , install nut's dual recovery and then flash any stock prerooted zip (or a custom rom if you want) you can find on this forum. kingroot will be gone when you finish the .zip install too

Wouldn't just installing kingroot be enough for a simple rooting of the stock fw?
All I need is the ability to run some apps which need root (e.g. ad-away, set dns, etc.) and nothing more. Is the latest version tested on Z2 running 5.0.2?

Kingroot works fine on 5.0.2 but by itself will not disable sony RIC and you won't get a writable system. Nut's dual recovery will disable RIC on boot, just install it after rooting and you should be good to go.
I suggested flashing a preroot zip just because i don't like kingroot app to manage root permissions and it's hard to replace it with supersu. flash a preroot zip and you'll end with a clean stock rom+supersu+nut's dual recovery and fully writable system

Drop bk to kitkat, root and recovery no problem using practically any tool, I used Z2 dual recover installer, once it reboots to recovery you flash su update from chainfire, rooted and recovery done.
Then just use prf creater to make an ftf into a flashable rooted room, yes you can add root and recovery to that too, flash that from recovery, job done.
You can use lollipop ftf to do that if you wish.

Go back to kk? why? it's a waste of time nowadays... the solution i mentioned won't even need to touch flashtool it's easier and quicker...
Just one last question: reading thrads about 5.1.1 it looks that it's due in a few days.
Would it be better to root now (as kingroot is still untested on 5.1.1 ) and then flash 5.1.1.ftf or just wait for it and then root?

Very true and if all are happy then it's all good, just don't forget to check ya phone afterwards for all the intrusive crap that kingroot throws on ya phone, tried it and it definitely didn't root my Z2 or a load of others.

Sure, i also don't like kingroot. Like i said before it does root fine but doesn't disable ric, flashing nut's recovery after solves this.
And if you flash a preroot zip after there will be no traces of kingroot on the phone. Downgrade to kk and flashtool is still not necessary...

I have been though your procedure and, I must say, kingroot and nut's recovery installed well. Now the phone is rooted. Also added Purify app. There is just one problem left.
At the moment I have a stock 23.1.A.1.28 FW installed, just wanted to make a try with a 23.2.A.1.62 to see how the whole process goes. Instead of preparing the full .zip file, I already had a ready one, so I uploaded it into the phone, plus another .zip for gapps. Then, trying to start recovery, the phone does not enter recovery, but boots normally.
I know that nut's recovery is installed well, as, after installation process, it showed up a recovery (philz's?) with grey keys, and I also went though its menus to check it up. Right now these are the ways I tried, failing, to start recovery:
- immediately after switching on the phone (after vibration), pressing volume up
- immediately after switching on the phone (after vibration), pressing volume down
- starting manually (any of the 3 proposed recoveries) from NDR UTILS app
- starting manually from XZRecovery app
None of these methods work, the phone sometimes makes a double reboot (i.e. stays at "sony" first screen goes black and then goes back to sony screen again) but always ends up with loading android system. Is this maybe due to my locked bootloader? In this case would the only option be every time doing FTF upgrade+kingroot+nut's? Or is there some sure method to boot the recovery and install whatever I want?
After all, if it started once, I believe it can start again....

Nut's dual recovery works fine on LB (i have unlockable bootloader too) probably something you installed messed up the recoveries, did you install/update busybox from the play store? Nut's dual recovery includes it's own busybox which can't be replaced / updated.
Reinstalling the recoveries with the installer on your pc should fix the problem and make them work again.

Hi,
it looks like the device was somewhat messed up. U were right that i had installed another busybox from gplay, nevertheless uninstalling it did not sort out any effect. Also nut's reinstall failed. Maybe there was some chaos still inside due to experiments done before using kingroot, like, for instance, trying towelroot.
This is how I acted to solve the issue:
- downloaded most recent fw with xperifirm (Telekom.de one, full of useless apps)
- completely flashed phone with .ftf
- reinstalled kingroot
- reinstalled nut's recovery
Now the phone is back again rooted and I deleted some stupid apps with root app delete.
I am now eagerly waiting for 5.1.1 release, hope there will be a vanilla firmware somewhere this week ))
Best would be to already download a patched .zip image.

It's all part of the experience of learning what's best, I always only use dual recovery because windows can install it directly and root at same time, there used to be plenty of rooting apps like kingroot but you don't see so many anymore, but I'm glad you're sorted, when ya get 5.1.1 just use prfcreater to make it into flashable zip then you don't lose root and have to go through the process all over again.

Yes, it really goes this way, now waiting for an unbranded fw, as this night the first branded ones have started to roll out...
I am really happy: for a couple of months I thought I was buried behind that nasty unlockable bootloader, and now i discovered it's even better, as rooting it without touching bootloader allows the software to work at 100% of it specs
Coming from Samsung to Sony is kinda rough at first for nibbling but when the right instruments are present and clear it's worth dealing with superior hardware.
Also, must say that Sony is lately improving its behaviour, after so many years of mafia attitudes towards buyers

I've had Samsung, HTC, Apple, blackberry and finally stuck with Sony, I guess they all have pros and cons, Samsung phones are the easiest to mod and flash, Sony is quite daunting for newcomers very much like HTC. Can be tricky to learn.
Horses for courses and all that, I much prefer a rooted phone with locked boot, no particular reason except the drm keys etc, I do think camera is better on lb, than the quality on ul, although there is a drm restore mod on cross Dev, for ul, it does make xreality work, but it doesn't remove the missing key error in security tests.
I read on a page that once drm keys are gone, Sony won't honour the warranty, very much like Samsung and the knox counter, I'm not sure tho, but I do know I'll always remain Lb and stock based rom.
Only problem I have is getting wifi tethering working properly, it's doing my head in, 4 weeks of decompiling and editing and still can't get my phone to broadcast on any other channel except 1.

Do you think they could be modded like for generic HTC or never heard about them?

Looks like a cheap option of unb
randed HTC, but no, I don't think a HTC section would help.
I think it's an Italian release, dual simply phone, simply Google pointed to an Italian forum androidiani androidiani, run the link through a webpage translator and you may be in luck for root and rom, I think towelroot may root it.
Actually framaroot already offered rooting at the price of a horrible hack (3-4 reboots before device is ready when turning on or rebooting, plus device instability on heavy loads), never tried towelroot on it.
But problem is not about rooting rather than getting rid of horrible stock firmware. The latest fw edition by Mediacom was a total disaster (forums cry loud) and I thought it would be great to try to put some mod on the phones: this is why I had in mind to ask you if there is a general toolkit for HTC phones (like flashtool for Sony) which I could use to try to take care of it and experiment....

So i had search ways to root my Alcatel One Touch Idol X Plus, found some like using "Super One Click" and "Mobile_Go", but didnt manage to do the root because of some errors during the rooting process, so i need to know if its really possible to root my device with this programs or new ways to root.
Secondly i need to know where to find some Custom Roms for my device (i know its a low popularity device), or how to update to KitKat.

@DewiLLpt There are various apps available to root your device.
I'd suggest to try the one click root methods before trying to go further deep.
Here's a few you can try.
1.Framaroot
2.VRoot
3.KingRoot
Try and report.
Your device doesn't seem to have any custom roms but the news is that you'll be updated to KK later this year.The news is not official though.

I tried the Framaroot, error nº8 shows, so i use the VRoot and works perfect, my phone is now rooted, also installed some apps that required the root and works fine.
Will wait for the KK or any custom rom.. but what can u say about this one its legit?
Always make all necessary backups and preferably a FULL backup of Roma who have, before proceeding with the installation.
To install the rom must have the TWRP 2.6.3.0 already installed, here I leave the links where they can consult all the information to make root and install TWRP.

Hello friend,I to have Alcatel one touch idol x+ plus and I have rooted with kingroot app in 2 minutes(For rooting install kingroot and run it on WiFi or 3g, you can obtain root access safely) .The popular custom rom which is the called "LEWA ROM" which is stable,bug free is available to idol x+ but I didn't applied the rom because before apply a custom I want to make a full backup of Built-in rom but I can't because there is no sd card.I am still searching and thinking that is there a possibility of backuping using twrp manager through otg,Any I will try later .
For those who didn't know already: yes, there's a way to root Z5 compact with MM. Bootloader needs to be unlocked.
(1) Install Marshmallow. I did it with flashtool. (I used E5823_32.1.A.1.163_1299-0270_R7C)
--> Clean install, if not, you'll get Google Play Store and Google Play Service to be forced to close.
(2) Install another kernel over here. It's AndroPlus kernel, and I choose the latest version (v20).
--> extract boot.img
-->> (in fastboot mode: power down + press vol up + insert USB) fastboot flash boot boot.img
Edit 20/03/2016: Don't use this version of TWRP. It won't work.
(3) Install TWRP over here, like found in this threat. It's TWRP 3.0.0
--> rename recovery.img
-->> fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(4) Flash SuperSU like you can find here. I flashed v2.65
You can reboot, your Z5 compact will be on Android 6.0 with Root Access.
By the way, read this before you try to install Xposed.
It's possible to install Xposed. I used v80-sdk23-arm64.zip (framework to flash) and XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk as installer.

Clean install = you need to wipe userdata (not SD card)
Dirty install = you flash new ROM without changing existing userdata.
So indeed, you need to start on a blank canvas and reinstall your apps.
--> If you're using a password manager, like LastPass or something else, it's way easier to start off from a clean system. If you're not using a password manager yet, maybe it's time to reconsider using one.
for me a big point to mention here: sdcard is not workin gat the moment..
so you do have to place all things you need to flash on internal storage.

Weird...
For me, having root access didn't change anything to SD card performance. Which means (for me):
- no problem to install/flash SuperSU using my external SD card.
- no difference after root was installed. I still can flash anything from SD Card.
does it have to be E5823_32.1.A.1.163_1299-0270_R7C?
I'm currently on 32.1.A.1.163_1298_7782_R9C.
should i flash the R7C one?

I only wanted to share the way *I* did it. (because different people mentioned there's no root for Z5C)
I guess it will work with any E5823_32.1.A.* and. it. could also work with other/newer kernels/TWRP/superSU... but I didn't test anything else than this device and this setup. + I know for me it didn't work with TWRP 2.8.7.

For me sdcard is working normally under Marshmallow, but can't be mounted in TWRP

For me scared is working to! I also did not wipe my user data. I just flashed the german vodafone firmware over my existing LP 5.0.2 using flashtool, which kept all my apps. The rest was done as described in the first post. The only app which caused trouble was spotify, I just reinstalled it and everything was fine ...

No, nothing about this is stable.
-- Dirty flash of MM could mean that certain apps or parts of the system become unstable.
-- TWRP 3.0 is only released a few days ago. Could contain bugs, who knows...
-- AndroPlus kernel is work in progress. Literally "status: testing". And for more info about that kernel, you can always read/ask in that threat (I don't know the ins and outs of kernels at all)
-- Xposed + it's modules: all work in progress. Some could be stable, some could be buggy.
For now, this is a way to get root. Maybe other developers come with different methods to root, maybe not. But getting root access means: f*ck*ng around with your system on the deepest possible level and breaking some "stability" sony intended to give us. If you would like to take advantage of what root access can give you: give it a try. If you're afraid to break anything: stay away from it or be prepared that you'll have to start over from scratch.
Yes forgot that to clear. Sdcard is working in running system, but not in twrp. Thats no big deal, only nice to know...
And I've tried it german customied did work.. Schud not make any difference as long as it the same version number...
Drm restoration I couldnt check until now.
Nice that I now can restore my app data with titanium backup

I'll think I have to try again. Perhaps the first boot something was going wrong.. But I couldn't access sdcard and flash supersu from the card with twrp. SoI booted, copied supersu to internal "sdcard" and from there it worked.. I also tried to mount sdcard.. No reaction (but also only at first boot)

Hello everyone,
I've noticed that there hasn't been any threads about rooting the Xperia Z2 Tablet on lollipop. Most threads have discussed how to root the device on 4.4.4 and to create an update image to maintain your root whilst updating to 5.0+.
I've scoured the interwebs and found nothing so I'll make it easy for those whom don't know how to achieve root or don't want to do much work without creating images and such.
First off I'm not responsible for any inconvenience that may come with rooting your device and losing your warranty. I can and will be willing to help out in restoring or answering questions that you may have.
This method uses Kingroot... For those who have a problem with kingroot, it is only used to achieve root and this guide will also be showing you how to remove kingroot and install Supersu with ease. Using the link below download the necessary files: Kingroot V4, Supersume, XZDualRecovery 2.8.26. Place all these files on the root of your devices internal storage/SD card excluding Xdualrecovery as that needs a PC. (If you want to Xposed working I will also supply the files needed for that as well). https://www.mediafire.com/download/wrsajbgw2jr6czt
*Make sure you have unknown sources enabled under Settings>Security>Device administrators as well as Developer Options available and USB debugging enabled. (To enable Developer Options go to Settings>About Tablet>Build Number and click it 10 times).
1. Install NewKingroot.apk and run the application. It will notify you that a root method was found and to try it. It may take up to 2 minutes to achieve root. (If all you wanted was root and are content with kinguser then you're done! :good: if you want Supersu and/or a custom recovery then continue on to step 2!
2. Connect your Tablet to your PC via microUSB. On your PC open and extract the contents of TabZ-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26-RELEASE.combined.zip to your desktop. Now double click install.bat a screen will pop up providing you with options to install xdualrecovery. Choose option 2. Installation on ROM rooted with SuperUser by pressing 2 and enter. The script will run its course and tell you to grant permission on your tablet. Open up your tablet and a kinguser prompt will show asking you to grant or deny permission to ADB (Grant it!!!) afterwards your tablet will reboot on it's own to TWRP. (I advise you to either make a backup of the tablet now or after you install Supersu as insurance in case of any mishaps). Click reboot System.
3.Install Supersume, open the application and run it. It will of course ask to grant it permission (Grant it!!!) it will check the environment (making sure that there isn't any Pokemon nearby that you don't need... Sorry Pokemon Go reference) and it will begin removing kingroot and install Supersu. If you didn't have Supersu installed already great! It'll open up Supersu automatically. Supersu may ask you to update binaries (DO NOT click TWRP as it will reboot and you have to start the process over from step one!!! :crying: Just click Normal and once it says successful you're done! :victory: The next step is optional if you Want Xposed.
*Optional 4. Install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk. Open your app drawer and open NDR Utils. It will ask for permission (Grant it!!!) now here you may choose your preferred recovery... Philz Touch Recovery,TWRP or Clockwork Mod Recovery. Click Reboot to Primary Recovery (fourth option) once it's rebooted you want to click install>SD>xposed-v85.1-sdk22-arm-by-romracer-20160620.zip and swipe to install. You should get a success when it's finished. Now simply reboot and your apps will be upgrading. Congratulations you now have root with SuperSU and xposed! :victory:
**if you wish to uninstall Xposed simply reboot to recovery and click install>SD>xposed-uninstaller-20151218-arm.zip uninstall the application once it's rebooted and you're good to go!
***if you have a problem with Supersume not working, reinstall Newkingroot.apk and run it again to get root. Then run supersume again (Grant permission!!!) and let it run its magic.
If anyone has issues, has questions or needs help PM and I will do my best to help and answer all your questions. Please don't be discouraged because I'm new here! I will be soon adding a link to a video tutorial on how all these steps can be done!

Hi there, I also have SGP561 as well for Verizon. Verizon didn't release Marshmallowfor the device yet unfortunately. ???? still waiting and more then willing to confirm when it does

Power off device. While device is booting up at the Sony logo hold power and volume down/up (depends on customer recovery) until led flashes green and device vibrates then let go

That's great news to hear! I picked one up and wanted to root and I did on KitKat but when I upgraded to lollipop I lost root and rooted it the long way... Needed something simpler and couldn't find anything on here. So I wanted to make sure a guide was available to all. Enjoy and let me know how it went

If you're talking about your google drive, there is no kingoapp.apk in there
All there is:
- supersume.apk
- tabz-lockeddualrecovery
- xposed uninstaller
- xposed v85.1
- xposed installer
I downloaded the most recent kingroot, which worked on my Verizon sgp561, and then I used your superuser file to change over to su. Seems to work just fine.. I'm on 5.1.1.
I tried the most recent kingroot and it fails.
An old version gave me an error code of 0x162982

So I got this phone a while back and I want to get rid of bloatware on it so I was going to use Titanium Backup, trouble is you need root(obviously).
I don't have much experience rooting as I've only ever rooted an Xperia E, and I only used a downloaded application on my laptop to do the work for me.
Help would be much appreciated, I will leave possibly useful info below.

Check for a pre-rooted firmware for your version available on XDA then flash it using Odin.

Wait, you want to remove JUST bloatware?
Root can do much more than that and many guides use root and a custom recovery. But, as Atronid suggested, you can download and flash pre-rooted firmware for the device, but (ironically), to get rid of the bloat, you use the firmware, but the firmware usually comes with MORE bloat, so it's just plain stupid!
Also, I have had a major issue with this particular firmware in which the device overheats and soft-reboots constantly... I checked if it was anything else, but after switching back to stock, the issue stopped.
I am not condoning this method, it's just that I'd advise you to be careful with the overheating. It may not be an issue for you, I don't know. But here is the one I used for a bit:

OR, there is another method which only works if you have a custom recovery and are ready to ditch Google.
You COULD install a custom recovery for your device and flash a SuperSU ZIP file. People may shout ''Doesn't work! He's lying! Blah! Blah! Blah!''
Well, I own the exact same phone as you and I know that method works.
But, for most things, you'll need a custom recovery anyway. It adds so much more to your device that allows you to unlock it's potential. HOWEVER, unless you are confident in Odin and how things work on a device, I'd slightly recommend that you avoid a custom recovery for now if you don't have much experience with Odin and flashing images.
BUT, if you can flash the pre-rooted firmware okay, you should be able to install a custom recovery fine.

I have also tried (and disliked) one of those pre-rooted firmwares; it is a pity that all there is available for this device are a couple of outdated and bloated versions. I even tried to build my own firmware, but failed to create anything bootable (fortunately, I managed to not brick my device).
Then I tried the TWRP route: following a couple of guides I found here, I managed to install it, and use it to install the latest SuperSU .zip file. TWRP reported no errors, and everything seemed correct, but when the device boots there is no trace of any rooting: no SuperSU app, no "su" binary, no nothing at all...
Thus, if you could post here how you managed to make this work, I would be very grateful.

This is not to get likes or thing like this but because I am sick of this **** to mess around with firmwares and integrate bloatwares (and spywares, everything is possible...)

Well, first I installed TWRP 3.0.2.0 also using the guide somewhere in the forums, then I downloaded SuperSU 2.46 .zip from the Chainfire website and flashed it using TWRP.
If the SuperSU .zip file didn't work for you, then try CF-Autoroot, whatever that is. I don't know because I have not tried it on my phone. I believe that it finds exploits and uses them somehow?
Anyway, did you flash the ZIP without extracting it? I don't see how it can't work, really. Call me stupid, but I don't know why that happened.
Anyways, good luck to all, for I am not active on these forums nowadays (as much)

Same TWRP version, same SuperSU version, did not extract the ZIP file. It took me several attempts, but I finally managed to install TWRP and "install" SuperSU without errors. I do not doubt it worked for you, perhaps my base ROM is different, and has some type of protection that deletes any "su" file.
Will have a look to CF-Autoroot, thanks for the tip!

I flashed that same firmware before and I had the same issues. Had to download my original firmware from some site with terrible download speeds, took forever. Nice to know you found an alternative and I'm sure I would find more cool things to do with root.

I just need the root because I have to retrieve attachments whatsapp that I deleted by mistake on the internal memory. as the software with which I should recover (dr fone) fails to do the root.
Here's my Cheat Sheet ! This is the same procedure I used a while back with N910VVRU2CPD1 . I just updated the thread to work with the newer package.
1. Odin SamMobile N910VVRU2BPA1
reboot and factory reset a few times if needed to remove custom icon
2. Odin hsbadr's N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVRU2CPD1_FullFirmware.tar HERE
3. Unlock with the samsung_unlock_n4-fix PROCESS use SIM card for data. Wi-Fi will not work at this point.
4. Odin twrp-3.0.2-0-trltevzw.tar Uncheck Auto Reboot, Manually boot into TWRP
5. Odin hsbadr's N910VVRU2CPD1_StockRestore.tar HERE
6. TWRP BETA-SuperSU-v2.71-20160331103524, Factory Reset, boot system
7. Use FlashFire to Flash firmware package SamMobile N910VVRU2CQI2
( ! System and Cache only ! )
Your mileage may vary.
Before I install my personal apps I remove as much Verizon, Samsung and Google spyware as possible.

EDIT: I was able to skip the recommended rooting and unlocking of 5.1.1 and make the jump I described.
I did not do the unlock using Kingroot until step 3 and I did not permanent root with Super Su until step 6.
No matter how you get there the phone has to be on [Firmware] [MM] [6.0.1] [RetEd/DevEd] Safe Upgrade to Marshmallow [N910VVRU2CPD1] then you can use FlashFire.

Kingroot needs to connected to root. I never seen it work without a connection. N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVRU2CPD1_FullFirmware.tar brakes wifi but you get it back with N910VVRU2CPD1_StockRestore.tar, I dont know why. It just works

My best guess now is it's some kind of provisioning issue that is cleaned up. Some of the files deleted you may actually need some day.

I seem to lose root after I flash CPD1. Still have TWRP though and says developer mode. What could be causing this?
Edit - When I flash stock restore I mean. I get rooted on BPA/CPD and then when I go to the next step I'm losing root and Kingroot says it has no solutions. I must be doing something wrong.

As long as you have TWRP installed still you are in good shape. At that point, you could either flash (through TWRP) SuperSu or magisk (on certain kernels magisk install errors out in twrp). The main objective is to get the custom recovery (twrp) installed on the 6.0.1 bootloader and once that's done it's just a matter of flashing your preferred rooting method or flashing a rom that has root included.
You can use an app like this to check your bootloader to make sure it's the right one.

That's weird. I flashed SuperSU but it didn't show up in the apps and when I tried to use Flashfire it said I didn't have root.
Got there. SuperSU had an error message when I tried to install it the 1st time after flashing full system. So I rebooted and installed again. Now Flashfire crashes and won't open. Switched to Flashify and it seems to work ok.
Edit - Stuck here for now. Flashify can't seem to find the CQI2 file and I still haven't been able to get Flashfire to work. Tried an older version and still crashes when it checks to see if I have the pro version or not.
In case someone else has the same problem with Flashfire, it's because the program expired April 1st, 2018. Turn the date back on your phone and it will load.
Finally completed it!!!
Ok, so the things I learned from my trials and errors.
1) DON'T flash the kernal and SU after you root with the N4 fix. I did this the 1st 15 times and could never get Flashfire to work later on. So skip all of the stuff in that post after you flash TWRP. Then flash the next firmware step.
2) Uncheck auto time and date on your phone and roll it back to before 4/1/18 to get Flashfire to work.
I'm sure there are some more things and I'll add whatever else I think can help the next guy along. Good luck! And thanks for the guide doc!
Note: Did the phone icon on your lock screen disappear as well when you were done? The camera is there on the bottom right like normal, but the phone is gone on the bottom left and it displays the charging info there now.
Thanks for this - it was helpful to make clear that in my mind that despite what other guides say, there is no need to unlock a Lollipop bootloader with a Lollipop kernel + ROM first, and that we can boot a Lollipop kernel + ROM with a Marshmallow bootchain and unlock the Marshmallow bootloader from the get-go.
I tracked down the CQI2 full Odin and I made hybrid Odins that get you "rooted on N910VVRU2CQI2" in fewer steps, following hsbadr's file naming scheme:
N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVRU2CQI2_FullFirmware.tar.md5: MM CQI2 bootchain/firmware/modem, LL BPA1 ROM/kernel/recovery
N910VVRU2CQI2_StockRestore.tar: MM CQI2 ROM/kernel (no recovery - TWRP isn't overwritten)
These should be fine as drop-in replacements for the files mentioned in steps 2 and 5 of your guide.
Using these obviously means that you are unlocking the CQI2 aboot instead of the CPD1 aboot in step 3 while temprooted, and - importantly - step 7 is unnecessary to get to a CQI2 ROM, which is good because Flashfire is now expired :3
I doubt there's much of a real benefit to being on the newer aboot, but hey, why not.

No, this will work with both versions of the verizon note 4.

I followed this link because its supposed to be a way to downgrade from 6.1.0 to 5.1.1 so I can unlock boot loader. However, these instructions make no sense to me. Can someone PLEASE help me. I've been searching and searching for a way to root my note 4 (N910VVRS2CQA1) and can't seem to find a way. I've never done this before so I'm pretty clueless. When I read these instructions, I just don't understand what I'm supposed to be doing. A lot of this tech lingo means nothing to me unfortunately. I'm starting to thing I should just give up the idea of rooting this Note 4 that's getting slower and slower and just get a new one. I don't really want to though bc I love the fact that you can replace the battery. It'd be much easier to just root and upgrade.....well, easier if I actually knew how.
