Hey guys,
well I tried to install Resurrection Remix today , tried two different versions of it , with and without the MD5 , I also tried updating TWRP to the latest, I tried downgrading the bootloader to JB , I tried Autorec and have no idea where to go from here. I get the same error every time "E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/Resurrection-Remix-LP-v5.5.2-20150722-d802.zip" I dont get this error if Im on 2.7.0.0 ,the installation just stops and says error, Any ideas on how to fix this will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Edit:
Sorry I forgot,
I have a D801 (D801 Recovery), I'm currently on cloudy2.2, Im using the Dorimanx kernel for kitkat, my baseband is M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190082.
I have the D802 Version of Cloudy2.2 and the D801 kernel.
Update:
Well I tried to install Cloudy G3 (Lollipop) and it gave no errors in installation , but it got stuck in a boot loop , so I tried to restore a backup and now even the backup (Kitkat) and all previous kitkat roms are all stuck in boot loop (Clean installs). Am I missing something here? Is there some other prerequisite to installing a lollipop rom?
Post your queries with complete device details (includes model, software, kernel and baseband) atleast or none of us can help you.
Updated the thread with the information you asked.
Use the tot or kdz method and restore back to kitkat stock. Then you should root using stump root then install twrp again. From there you have to download a flashable twrp due to the fact that the one that comes with autorec does not flash properly. Also, you got stuck in boot loop for cloudy g3 due to the fact that you did not install a bumped bootstack for lollipop. Ask @bender_007 for and questions regarding autorec or for a custom autorec.

Thanks a lot for the reply , and I successfully went back to stock kitkat using the kdz method , after which I rooted the phone. I didn't install a recovery because I was waiting for exactly this. But one questions , the only ones I found are from Blastagator and there is no lollipop bootstack there for the D801 (only D800) the D801 only has KK and JB. But still , thanks a lot.
Since you are on a d801 you can actually upgrade to lollipop, then you should download autorec v2 for the d801 from the play store. Once that is done you should install a new recovery then you can flash your lollipop ROM.

Hey, thanks for all the help everyone , I managed to make it work by updating to the lollipop bootloader by OTA updates. Then rooted and then both Cloudy and AICP flashed just fine and worked with no problems. But as for Resurrection Remix , still no luck , it gives the same error... but ... I guess AICP will have to do
Did you install the autorec v2? Did you update the twrp recovery from the listed website? The twrp that is installed by autorec is not meant for flashing Roms.

Hi Guys,
So I tried the new stock Kitkat firmware for my d802. Flashed the KDZ through support tool. I lost root as expected.
Then I started to miss root and control over my phone, so I wanted to go back to Jellybean.
After some difficulties I got the support tool working in offline mode. Flashed Jellybean stock KDZ.
Rooted the phone again and installed recovery.
Converted the stock KitKat rom to a flashable zip, and copied it to SD card.
I flashed the zip and all went fine.
Anyhow, when I wanted to return to recovery it did a factory reset instead, and now I can start all over.
Do we have a solution to this problem?
Thanks.

We are waiting for LG to release KitKat kernel sources for D802 before a solution can be made, but it does require you to go back to JB again and then flash a KitKat rom with the modified kernel in order to keep your custom recovery

Thanks. I thought that if it was a flashable zip, I could always return to custom recovery, but of course it is the content of the file that needs to be modified. I'll wait.

it would not be just a modified kernel it would be an entirely modified zip with parts from 4.2.2 and 4.4.2 so that it can support custom recovery like in jb but be able to boot into kk in fact the only reason we need the kernel source is because we have to add some lines so it can allow jb and kk partiotions to work together

I have been using it but for att and have not experienced any troubles and I also know of a few people who have already flashed roms whitput trouble also it seems like the g pro 2 rom might be the first to seeing custom recovery on d802 since someone there already made a patch but has not tested it yet and thus has not released it yet
Okay so I've been noticing a lot of threads lately asking kk this, kk that, kk them, etc. So I decided to make a thread to help some people and reduce the amount of repetitive questions on the Q&A and will try to keep it up to date during my free time.

T-Mobile's D801 is having problems with root on 4.4.2 because of issues with stock recovery, but they have a dedicated thread which you can check out and read often to see if they figure out how to root it

Bugs/Fixes(When I have more time I'll add more as I find them)
Apparently there is a bug in which when using auxiliary cables/headphones where there is a crackling/hissing sound in the background, I cannot comment on this since I have not experienced it and I use auxiliary cables every weekend for dj stuff and I also use headphones at least once everyday. There is now a fix for this using G2TweaksBox
So I remember from the very beginning everyone complained that there battery was being drained by Bluetooth right after flash without ever wiping/factory resetting, but I have been using kitkat for about two months now and if after 12 hours it's used 5% then wow that's not a drain, the Bluetooth now works in a low energy state just like Wi-Fi so that even if it's off it's always on in a low energy state which means its not draining your battery.
When I have more time I will add more stuff that is stock kit kat related

After rooting stock KK with ioroot25, isn't it possible to install a recovery? you just need to flash a patched kernel with loki enabled after flashing the recovery to boot back into "stock" rom

No the kit Kat bootloader patched our recovery/Loki exploit, if it were that easy there wouldn't be so many people bricking their devices on kk after getting root

The only way is to have recovery on JB then flash Kk baseband for your variant and one of the Kk roms that use the patched kernel. Those Kk roms are mixed firmwares that use parts from Jb to make them work with the kernel and recovery and make sure loki is not broken. So that is why recovery can't be installed on full stock rooted Kk.
EDIT- There are now root and recovery methods/installers for stock KK. Mixed firmware is still used to keep JB bootstack.

ok so for some reason for the first few weeks the Bluetooth reports a false positive(it reports a lot of hours of use but it's not actually draining your battery), if you actually use Bluetooth on a daily basis it will eventually stop giving out the false positive, mines stopped reporting 7-15 hours and now only reports around 2-4 hours which is the actual use I give it on a daily basis
I appreciate the fast response. Sounds like I'll wait it out and see what happens but that's good too know it's a false positive. Thanks again!

i have the d800, and i want to flash Blisspop v3.2 onto it. im currently on stock lollipop (d80030f). its been rooted, and i used autorec (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=b007.autorecd800&hl=en) to get twrp, and thats all i done at this time. i understand that i need to flash the lollipop bootstack, but there are two files given on the thread, one for loki and one for bump. which do i need to flash?
Im pasting my reply from another thread please follow from where you left off at.
Ok flash back via tot to kitkat and take ota to lollipop. Then use autorec v2. *Do not use the twrp thats comes autorec as it does not flash roms* flash a BUMPED twrp using twrp. Then install your lolipop rom then afterwards install the dormainx d800 lollipop patch.

1. flash bumped twrp
2. install rom and gapps
3. install dormainx d800 patch
i think i get it now. since i already took the ota to d80030f, and then rooted i dont need to do the tot flash back to kitkat.

Hi guys,
I'm a newbie in this rooting world. So please bear with me. I know this forum will help me solve my problems and answer my questions so here goes.
The problem is I can't flash any rom. I'm having this error
"E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/Download/CM12/CM-12-20150802-NIGHTLY-D802.zip"
What I did was
-Rooted my phone
-Install AutoRec to install TWRP Recovery
-Install quickboot
-Reboot into recovery
_Update my TWRP recovery to 2.8.7.1 bumped
-Backed up my everything
-Wipe everything (except Internal Storage)
-Install CM12 alongside with GAPPS
Now everytime I flash a rom I end up with that error.
My device is
LG G2 D802 Rooted Running on 5.0.2 Stock ROM.
Can somebody help me please? It will be much appreciated.
Thanks XDA Members.
Can you also suggest some good ROMS compatible with my device?
Thank you.
I got exactly the same message on my d802.
Unfortunately, I wiped my system and it rebooted with a "security error" message. I had to restore a stock LP ROM using LG's Mobile Support Tool program.
@audit13 and @markl098 official cm12 might be still using the old loki method of installing so it will need the jellybean bootloader. Most of the times if you get that error you are using a rom which is using loki on a kitkat bootloader. I suggest to use nevax bootloader changer and flash the rom. You might also need another modem for it. Search it on the forum which modem you need for the official cm12, you probably need kitkat aosp modem from dr87.
I also suggest to look for the newer roms in the forum here in xda as most of them are all using new caf sourcecode and running on lollipop bootstack with bump. (Ofcourse kitkat bootloader)
Audit13 the security error probably happend because you wiped the system but the boot.img remained and loki isn't signing the boot.img with an lg key so it will result on kitkat bootloader in an security error. With bump that problem is fixed as the kernels are getting signed with an lg key. I hope you guys can flash now happy further with no probs

Thank you so much for your answer. I can't find much info on that regard. Things becoming more clear now. Can I ask one more question?
I was on stock, decide to try SlimSaber, which is quite nice by the way. So, I rooted my D800 and got TWRP. Then flashed Loki's lollipop bootstack (bootstack-d800-LP_30d-loki-signed.zip) recommended by OP and ROM and GAPPS. Everything works perfect. Now if I want go for 4.4.2 based stock ROM for example I should flash K.K bootstack before? I found this file - bootstack-d800-KK_20y-v1.1-blastagator-signed.zip. So is this mandatory always flash bootstack before upgrading downgrading, right? I can't find any detailed info on this in XDA unfortunately.
Thank you for your time.
Greetings.

Ehhm. You can try it. The reason why is because the use of bootstacks became more since lollipop. You can try it. Perhaps it works else you could always autorec and then folllow the guide on how to flash. I can test it perhaps also for you later. Ofc with my d802 version but I am still underway from heading back so I can test jt only from wednesday

Now that ive discovered that there are no roms for lollipop im going to downgrade to original firmware that runs 4.4.2 so i can try out some of the roms that have been developed. Ive found a way to root, though i cannot find a guide to install twrp, all the guides seem to have twrp for a different model of lg g2.
What version of twrp do i need and how can i flash it for the d801?
Go to the Play Store and search for AutoRec for your D801 for lollipop and install and your good to go as long as your rooted.

doesn't that contradict what firmware is going to be on the phone? im on lollipop 5.0.2 now, i think the original is 4.4.2 if i downgrade by using the lg toolkit. does autorec work for d801 work for kitkat? confusion here. If you`re on 5.0.2 lollipop then you need to install autorec from play store to get twrp installed but you must be rooted in order for it to work.If your trying to downgrade back to kit kat then I think you don`t have to be rooted or have twrp installed at all in your flashing to stock kit kat rom.
If your trying to return to stock kit kat read here.

You are misunderstanding. I am using a Tmobile d801 on lollipop that is rooted and twrp installed. There are no custom roms.
I want to revert to 4.4.2, so that i can use custom roms, so the autorec for lollipop would do me no good to root and install twrp.
What would i need to do to root and get twrp installed on 4.4.2? i know how to go back to stock, but im going back to stock rom because i want to root and install twrp. What you are telling me is to use the autorec for lollipop...which ive already done. im rooted and twrp installed on lollipop, but i want to downgrade and need to know how to install twrp on 4.4.2

You are misunderstanding. I am using a Tmobile d801 on lollipop that is rooted and twrp installed. There are no custom roms.

That's because the phone is not rooted.Maybe try LG one click root.If the phone didn't reboot and you see android updating then it's probably not rooted.

You need to turn on developers mode and follow the instructions carefully. When it asks you go in download mode and you get stuck at 90% just wait about a minute and then hold power down and let phone reboot.Let me know if you need full instructions.
If that didn't work. This is what I used on my phone.I just remembered.

That didn't work on my T-Mobile G2 D801 ("Device is patched, sorry"). In fact I've tried Purple Drake, ioroot, StumpRoot, LGOneClickRoot. None of these work. I wonder what's different with your G2 that allows StumpRoot (or any other rooting) to succeed. I'm contemplating a downgrade all the way to KK 4.2.2 as both LP 5.0 and KK 4.4.2 seem impervious to rooting.

I downgraded my phone back to Kit Kat on a D800 and rooted Kit Kat stock Rom just today with StumpRoot. If you are on stock Kit Kat Rom it should. If you install the StumpRoot apk on your phone and let it did it thing and when ask to reboot phone after reboot it should reboot on its on once more and then your rooted.Supernova will not show up in app drawer but you should be rooted.Just work for me.I think because you don't see it in app drawer you think it's not rooted. They're apps in Play Store to check.

No, I always use a root checker to get root status. It seems we're comparing apples & oranges - we have a different phone and different versions of Android. But thanks for trying to help.

StumpRoot should work on all variations of the LG G2 but only on Kit Kat not Lolilpop.
