Hey all.
Used to have HTC Sense camera and uninstalled it. Now I try to install the SAME apk and I get app not installed. What could cause this, and how can I fix it?
I've already run clean master.
Thanks!

So you're telling me you've never run and APK from another device on your device? Your post was of no help. Please read my post again. There or many people running the HTC Camera/Gallery on their Note 3's. I was on of them. Just now I can't get it to install.
I'm also running Sense Home (Blinkfeed) if you wanted to make a comment on that being an HTC application running on my SAMSUNG.

I guess you never read that HTC Home Sense may require Sense 7.
I guess you don't know what Sense is. Sense (HTC) and Touchwiz (Samsung) are the user interface. They are essentially embedded in the ROM and have hooks in the kernel. Since the Verizon Note 3 has a locked bootloader you can NOT install different kernels nor can you install a ROM that isn't based on Touchwiz. And you can only install ROMs (Touchwiz based) if you're rooted.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Sense
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/TouchWiz
And finally....it probably didn't install because it didn't properly uninstall. You'll have to try to delete all traces of the original .apk AND libraries it added.
Of course...you'll need root for that.
Or...you could factory reset the phone and start from scratch.

If your wife's phone is rooted and you install this, you will lose root. If that's not a big deal, then go for it.
does the update delete everything on your phone?
if so, how do u backup/restore stuff? and how do you get the apps/games u purchased back without rebuying?
any other issues to know about? does the update reinstall att bloatware? do i have to put it back to stock to update?
i rooted to uninstall that stuff and to be able to install 3rd party apps, but never used a custom rom.
i'd really like to be able to use my 8gb sd card for apps since i have no space, so i am thinking of updating now and rooting later once it's available.
Why does everyone pay for apps that's what 4shared is for :-D

If you are already rooted, then you should seriously look at and consider Liberated Aria FR008. This ROM is based off the European Gratia complete with HTC Sense and does not have any AT&T bloatware, has an OC kernel and also used Dark Tremors Apps2SD which is much better than the native Froyo App2SD feature. If you like HTC Sense and want the Froyo 2.2 features, then this is the ROM to use.
If you choose to install the AT&T Froyo 2.2 update, it will wipe your phone clean and you will loose root and you will be stuck with all of the AT&T bloatware with no way to remove it.
For apps that you bought and paid for in the Market, these apps are tied to your gmail account, so if you reset your phone, you can reload the apps from the Market without any additional charges.

will using roms delete anything currently on my phone?

Yes, flashing a new ROM will usually delete anything currently on your phone. If you are rooted, You can use "My Backup Root" to save your apps and settings, text messages and phone log and then restore them after you flash a new ROM.
Here is the official thread about CM 7 RC1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=956223
Here is where you can download CM 7 RC1 and the nightly updates. Starting with Nightly 11 the code base is now Android 2.3.3.

i was waiting for this official 2.2 update for some reason, but now i realize i shoulda just used a rom. so i can backup with myroot (which i already have), but i'll have to reinstall the app before i can restore? reinstalling wont overwrite the backup folders on my sd card will it?
whats the best/free way to backup a non-rooted phone apps/contacts? mainly contacts?

Yes, if you backup with myroot, you have to reinstall myroot from the Market and then you can restore the backup. Flashing a new ROM will not wipe anything on your SD card.
For contacts you can export them to your SD card or sync them with your Gmail account. If you export them to your SIM card, the CM 6/7 ROMs cannot read them off the SIM card.

CM 7 is based on Android Open Source Project code. It is almost as pure Android as you can get UI and interface wise. You can still customize the UI with widgets and such, especially if you buy some from the Market. So bottom line is with CM 7 you can customize the phone however you like.
HTC Sense is the UI that is built into the stock Aria and now the AT&T Froyo update. That UI uses special widgets developed by HTC to enhance the user experience and these widgets only run on an HTC Sense ROM. Will you miss Sense? It's hard to say. It's really a personal preference.

i dont think i'll miss it after reading some more on it.
so do i have to start off with the original update-cm-7.0.0-RC1-Liberty-signed.zip
then update to a nightly, or can i just start off with the most recent nightly? wasn't sure since they are about the same MB size.
also, what about this app2sd dark tremor thing. do i need that? why is it better than the regular app2sd?

You can just flash the latest CM 7 nightly, but you need to follow the installation steps listed in the CM 7 RC1 thread first (i.e. format system, format data, format cache, etc.).
DT Apps2SD isn't as big of deal if you are going to run CM 7 IMO. If you were going to use the Liberated FR008 Sense ROM I would recommend it because it does a better job than the Froyo 2.2 APP2SD.

Hey guys so Ive installed the Live wallpaper hack from XDA i think it was the Rodriquezz rom patch for live wallpapers on the legend..I got it working and everything i was just wondering is there anyway to use it on the lockscreen too? Because when I go to settings to change lockscreen wallpaper i dont see a live wallpaper option as i do with normal wallpaper for the homescreen...
thanks
That's if you have Froyo. Because then, there will be no option to change the lockscreen's wallpaper, and it will use the one you have on your homescreen instead.
It makes sense (hurr not really but sorta pun) to flash a 2.2 ROM instead, because I assume this hack requires you to already have your device rooted.

Well, Im rooted lol I used the tut from paul at modaco, I guess im on froyo? Because i can change the lockscreen wallpaper, i just dont have the option for live wallpaper.
Rooting doesn't automatically give you Froyo. Unless I misread everything you said.
Sorry if I did.
hmm..k lol sorry for my nubness -_- this is the tutorial i used...http://android.modaco.com/content/h...-r4-htc-legend-rooting-guide-now-with-1-31-x/
so what rom am i on right now then? and did you happen to know how to nand unlock and get r/w access?
You're still on the ROM you installed during rooting. It's nothing special, thank goodness it's not Froyo either.
Now you can flash a custom ROM through ROM Manager and enjoy Froyo from there!
EDIT: Oh yeah, installing custom ROMs wipe everything. And there are specific instructions for each ROM too. Look for ROMs and special goodies that you can use with ROM Manager in the Dev section of the Legend's forums.

download "App Backup & Reinstall" from the market, reinstalls every app you have with a small backup file. Cache and settings are lost though...
And for your contacts, you van backup them to a Vcard (.vcf file) in Contacts > Menu > Import/Export
Titanium Backup is an option aswell since your device has root acces already.
I know this is the wrong section but I got some kind of feeling that there are more people looking in this section.
I have read some guides in the Development section (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537'
But I got some questions about rooting/S-off.
Why is rooting/S-off necessarily, why can't I just put the rom on my SD and go right into recovery mode and boot it up from there?
Also the program visionary plus, I hate that thing so much.... At this step:
Open Visionary and tap temproot, then attempt permroot now. Your device will reboot.
How the hell do I open it? I use Astro File manager or something to go to the file but I can't install the program on my mobile/SD card >.<
Also what do I need to do more besides Wiping my phone? In this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11557769
It says to flash a Radio is this a must? Or is the S-off/Root enough.
Thanks already

No, the DHD has a protected system which precludes overwriting the system partition so without S-OFF you can not make any permanent changes.

So basically I'm screwed? Since I need to downgrade to root, and to backup you need to have root >.< but when you downgrade you lose everything xD
I will try it tonight ._.
If you want to back up the new GB OTA ROM then yes but if you just want to back up your apps then No, you don't need root.
Titanium works with root but doesn't need it. Also, if you ticked to let Google keep a backup then your apps will be re-downloaded when you next perform a wipe.

Using Windoze is great....
One word for you: Linux.
At the risk of high jacking this thread, have you installed HTC Sync? Can you connect to HTC Sync? If not, try another USB port (if using front port use back ports or vice-versa). If none work uninstall HTC Sync and reinstall it after rebooting PC.
If that works when you are in adb (making sure USB Debugging is on) try
Code:
adb devices
Do you get a result?

Ok, here's the thing:
I have a samsung Galaxy S I9000. I want to flash a Pure, Unmodified, untouched, plain gingerbread onto it. i dont want any of the samsung applications, modifications or anything by samsung. the same concept that a Motorola Xoom is using. no additional modification to whatever google gave out.
1. It it possible?
2. If so, which ROM will do the trick?
Many thanks in Advance

Touchwiz is 'hidden' deeper in system too. And the CM7-crew wants to get rid of this and just use stock-Android and CM7-features. In ny opininon it's the best ROM of all.

Just like the thread stated. Or is there another apk that is is TW based that somewhat resembles ... I absolutely hate the stock tw phone dialer. Is it possible to install a AOSP phone apk on the note 3 tw rom? I have tried several different times with another roms apk's and it is always a fail.
What I ended up trying was taking the phone and contacts apk from eclipse rom and froze both of them in Ti backup and then installed them (fail). I also uninstalled both of them and installed the others (again fail). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Any reason why you don't want to just run eclipse rom?

I am currently running hyper drive.. I have eclipse on my second slot but I still seem to like hyper better overall.
