Galaxy s4 stuck in *bootloop* - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone model is I9500
It was just rooted nothing else done worked well since 5-6 months
Then suddenly it went off and the caught up in a boot loop.
I am not able to also open up the recovery or the downloading mode as the phone restarts as soon as i enter the downloading mode.
What to do Help ? :/

Rooting your phone doesn't brick it.
You pressed the wrong volume key so your phone restarts when in download mode warning.
As you have a GT-I9500 i assume you have never updated it (pre-knox) so you should be able to flash it with any firmware by Odin3.

This sounds like a stuck volume button. Give the phone a sharp tap on a table and see if the automatic reboot stops. If it does one of the buttons on the motherboard is stuck and needs replacement.

Don't you mean his power button?

No, volume button. Reason being that it immediately reboots when he enters download mode, as if download mode were cancelled. With the power button, there would be a significant delay before rebooting.
Nevertheless, the buttons come in packs of three. Might as well replace them all.

Is there any way to factory reset my broken Bell i9000?

My Bell i9000 SGS has been locking up several times a day since I got it. Today I was installing Weather Bug and Weather Channel apps and it locked--now it won't boot at all.
I guess the phone is probably faulty and will need to be exchanged. Nonetheless, I'd feel better if I could factory reset the phone before returning it. I'm always happier when my private info isn't on the phone before returning it...
I tried all the key combos I could find on boot up, none of them do anything. If I keep holding any of them, it just powers the phone off and on repeatedly.

I can't boot up into Android at all.
try recovery mode
hold volume up key + big square home button key + power button key
when you see the screen light up with the B/W Samsung logo, let go of the power button key
then inside the recovery mode, you have the option to Wipe your data

The phone just keeps booting as per normal. It gets as far as the Galaxy S logo... then nothing.

hmmmm..... then you got one of those model where bell disabled the option to go into Recovery Mode / Download Mode
the only thing you can do now is to go back to Bell and have them exchange it or flash it for you.
similar problem, cant get into recovery mode, but if I remove the battery, then hold volume up + home + power then put the battery in, it will get to a screen with the little android dude and it says forced upload mode due to key press. how very odd.

Problem with my verizon tab

It comes on like this.....my samsung -galaxy tab logo comes in then it disappears...i hear the music (like its about to show me everything but it dont...its a faint light to the tab lik its really on but my screen is blank....help me please...
See if you can get into Recovery. That will help identify if it's something in the software, or something with the hardware.
Power off
Hold Volume Down
Continue holding Volume Down and hold the Power button for about 5 seconds.
Release Volume Down when recovery screen comes up (give up after 15 seconds if you don't see anything)
doesnt work
i tried that... it didnt work....i can get to download mode and thats all ..... i tried the flash back to stock thing with firmware from samfirmware.com,it didnt work....am doing something very wrong......cause my tab still comes on but goes straight off.......volume down and power puts me in download mode
By "didnt work". . . What do you mean? Didnt go into recovery, didnt display. . . ?

To get into recovery you press volume up, not down. That's why he was getting to download mode instead of recovery mode.
Oh, my bad. If the Download screen comes up though, that still answers the question. Try rebooting into recovery and factory reset.

did you have recovery mode?
Have you had any success chubby? Try going into recovery mode if you can like these fine folks have said and see if you can do a Factory Reset

[Q] Recovery's fine... VolDn+Power doesn't work

I feel like this is a stupid question, but here we go anyway. I'm on an LS980 with TWRP 2.6.3.4.
I can boot into recovery just fine, as long as I use adb reboot recovery, or any of the methods to do a reboot to recovery from software. For the life of me, I can't get the volume down + power key combination to work. This would be no problem, except I'm stuck in a bootloop (my own fault), and can't get to either the software solution or ADB.
Yes, I've followed the directions in which you hold the two buttons, and when the LG logo appears, release and repress them both. I've done this about a million times now, in every different pattern and length of delay I can think of.
If I hold all 3 during boot, I get the "hardware control" screen, with a barcode and my IMEI at the bottom. Download mode, using volume up + plug in USB, works as well. Both volume keys have been functioning fine for controlling volume in software, so they are mechanically sound.
Is there any reason the keys might not work during boot? Is there any other way to reboot to recovery? My only idea is to push the stock image to the phone in download mode, and re-root, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Start with the phone powered all the way down (if you're bootlooping, hold the power button for maybe ~10s until there's a short buzz from the vibrator and the LG logo pops up, then hold it down for a few more seconds to power off).
Hold power+voldown until the LG logo appears. Release them then immediately push them again, and hold for a few seconds.
You'll get a 'Factory hard reset' screen that tells you to press Power to confirm you want to do a factory reset. Push Power a couple of times to confirm this. If you have a custom recovery installed, it won't erase anything, it'll just boot into recovery.
I just tried this, and it worked the first time.
Antinorm -
I'm familiar with that process, and have been trying it nonstop! Here's a video; maybe you could critique my technique?
You don't have to hold both buttons after the release.
1. Hold VolDn + Power until LG Logo appears.
2. Release both buttons for a few seconds
3. Hold only Power Btn
4. You get into Hard Reset
5. Push Power Btn 2 times (For executing reset)
After that the phone will boot into recovery.
Don't do this with plugged in USB cable I don't know why, but it doesn't work if you have a usb connection.
Nope, no luck using just the power button for the second press. Thank you, though! I'll write some more detail of what I see.
Initial state: the boot animation is looping.
I press and hold the power button.
The screen goes blank. I continue to hold the power button.
The LG logo reappears for a moment. If I were to release the power button before this point, the phone would restart.
I do not release the power button; I continue to hold it. The screen goes blank.
I now release the power button. This is the phone in its "off" state. If I plug it in to a power source, a battery charge icon and a percentage is displayed center-screen. Entering download mode from this state works. The phone is not plugged in.
I hold the power and VD buttons together. I've also tried pushing one first, then the other, in either combination.
The LG splash displays.
I release both buttons.
I wait an amount of time. I have tried various values from "as quick as I can move my fingers" to "a solid three-count".
I hold either both buttons (pressing them simultaneously), or just power, and wait.
Time passes.
GOTO 1
Does any of that sound wrong?
Weird. This method works for me. But getting into recovery was a bit of a hassle for me too at the beginning. Your doing seems to be ok... well seems like your only chance is adb right now.

Do you know of any way to ADB without an OS booted or recovery? I don't!
IF your battery is low or almost gone - you can't enter in Recovery with those 2 buttons.
So just charge your battery. I'm using CWM 6.0.4.4 and phone charges battery in this mode. It's slowly, but at the end my battery was 100%.
Now I can go to Recovery with 2 button combo. No download mode for me, but I'll open a new topic for that.

Whelp, sorry. Would have thought you can adb while in download mode. Turns out you can't.
Well i don't have a better idea than you with going stock and start from the beginning.

[Q] Power button issue not mechanical but cant unlock bootloader to solve

Thought Id ask here before I give up.
Been having a problem with my nexus.
The power button started acting up recently.
I've tried replacement and also made sure the mechanical button works inside someone else's device and it works fine.
My problem is that the button seems to loop or not work at all. For instance the device wont boot (Gets stuck in a loop) unless I hold the power down until the boot has completed, then if I let go it will usually stay on.
But then the power button is unresponsive unless I hold it again which in turn puts it back into a loop. I can hold it down for 10 secs then release then I get power down option but if I select it it goes back into a loop.
Ive tried a recovery which hasn't fixed it and tried using computer to flash a new image but I cant unlock boot loader as when I manipulate the button on the screen where I have to accept. It then goes into a boot loop again causing the device to not unlock/relock.
Im pulling whatever hair I have left out here and am about to give up unless anyone else has any ideas? Its as though the power button either works but sticks on. Or doesn't work at all. depending if I've held it on for a while or not.
Many Thanks

samsung galaxy s7 bricked

My phone wont start anymore it just goes to the att logo and freezes and i also wont go into recovery mode. The model number is SM-G935A.
Switch your Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge completely.
Boot into Galaxy S7 recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power keys at the same time.
Release all three buttons when Samsung Galaxy S7 screen flickers and you see a warning sign.
Press Volume Up to continue to the main screen of Recovery mode. Or, press Volume Down if you aren’t sure and want to go back to the normal mode.
You can also try from totally off, press volume up, home, and power.
Last, it sounds as if you recently tried to root?
If that is the case just get into recovery, I know sometimes it can be a pain to get there, and then factory reset in there and you should be back up and running.

It wont boot into recovery mode it just show recovery booting flashing in blue letters then it restarts regularly
If you do not know what you are doing best bet for you is to take it somewhere to get restored. Safest way is to take it to the Samsung reps inside a Bestbuy call ahead and explain the model so they can start downloading the correct firmware.
