rooting mojo - M.O.J.O. General

Hi guys
I just picked up a Mad catz mojo cheap and want to root it. Unfortunately any links to the Superboot MMM³ rooting file that I have tried appear to be broken. I was wondering if anybody here could point me to a working file?
Many Thanks in advance

I sent my console back to Madcatz to get it done after having so many issues with the Windows USB drivers. Madcatz sucks at releasing updates but they sure are a nice group of folks otherwise. I am afraid Mojo will be for mods only very soon. The mod I have tried works great. You have to apply the work around to the stock image after that it works pretty well with root.

Thanks for the reply. I just found another way of doing it. Something called a towel root! As simple as downloading the file tr-1.apk(sorry, unable to post link) on your Mojo and running the program. Then download Supersu from the app store and all is good. I only wanted to root initially so I could use GMD to hide the soft keys at the bottom of the screen.

You can EASILY Root the MOJO by downloading towelroot V.1.0!!!!
You just download it, install, launch, and its a 1-click root away. Note- ONLY V1.0 will work. You can download it here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/oxrryya4ffs4w6u/tr-1.apk
Simply navigate to this thread using your MOJO's web browser, click on the link, and download.

need mm3 superboot files
modaco site is now down entirely, still need the files my son has just tried installing google tv and we just get a black screen :crying:

Netflix now works*** 3.1

So after seeing that the transformer got netflix i went and tried the solution with out any changes.
*I take no credit for these files or figuring this out. I was just the lucky guy who decided to flash this first
1. Download both files
2. Install the netflix apk
3. Reboot Recovery
4. Install GT10.1Netflix_patch.zip via CWM
5. Reboot System
6. Enjoy
*************************
What the patch is doing is renaming the libnvomx.so in the /system/lib/ to a .bak
Then placeing then new one into /system/lib/
If there are any problems then you can use the libnvomx.so.bak so go back to default.
The libnvomx.so file is from a Xoom. Which does seem to work for our devices
*************************
So there it is folks... if you like it and it works well for you just tap the "Thanks" button for me
Pardon my ignorance, but how is this any different than just installing the APK file from yesterday? Who was this not working for (ie - what rom?)
Really no need to go through that much trouble. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1177969
The difference is that this should work with the Netflix updates to the app. So that you will not have to wait for a modded apk every time
What is in this patch file exactly?
Netflix up and running
I installed Netflix on my SGT today. Works perfectly. Didn't realize how many TV shows they offer (besides movies). For two bucks a week, it's worth it.
Does anyone know how to get this to work on the tab outside the US?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Thanks a bunch. Once I updated to UX I'd been having issues with my old .apk not working. Great! Now if I can finally get wifi tether working I'll be a happy "tabber".
Is there a problem that you are having?
Also is netflix in your country?
Should this fix my 12001 error I keep getting? The patched 1.3 does not work for me. I keep getting the same error.
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I've had the stock APK running just fine on HC 3.1 since I got my tablet last week.
I'm not rooted or anything, running nothing but the latest ROM update from Samsung, which is 3.1 of Honeycomb and I installed the offical APK of Netflix 1.3 and it has worked just fine, other than a lack of having video in correct HD settings.
I know this will take care of the 12001 error issue.. As for the HD issue. It did help me and a few others. I haven't had many people say anything about it. But that if you would like to try as well that would help me see if i can do anything about it, (if there is an issue).
The patch.zip simply renames the former file to a .bak just in case of any negative issues
Okay. So I have the stock apk installed and it runs well. My only issue is that I don't get full hd. Has this update fixed the hd issue for anyone?
Also, if/when Netflix launches official support for the GT is there any way to undo this? (if necessary)
Be aware that the "stock" apk is not working on the LTE version. It will open but gives an unable to communicate with server error.

You have to get a account from Strong Vpn.
I am paying 7,5 usd a month.
When you have the account from Strong , setup your device to use a vpn, and all your traffic will go thru that vpn. The ip address of the vpn will be an us one, and and netflix will allow you to sign in.

As soon as there's a posting of a positive way to root I'd be glad to try as rooting this thing is also a different process.

Thats part of the beauty of this... its takes the original libnvomx.so file and renames it libnvomx.so.bak and then places the new file there. so that when the Offical app comes out you can simply revert back.. when that comes out i will add another zip to revert back to make it simple on everyone...
I am looking into the HD problem as we speak....

[How to] Root the Galaxy Note - step by step guide NOW WITH VIDEO!

UPDATE:
As many will be aware there are now Root methods that do not increase the flash counter, therefore meaning they do not irreparably void your warranty like the initial ODIN method. I have made a video for the new method to supplement Chainfire's excellent written guide here.
DEPRECATED GUIDE - NO NOT USE THIS GUIDE UNLESS YOU HAVE NO WARRANTY AND WOULD PREFER TO USE ODIN BECAUSE YOU ARE ALREADY FAMILIAR WITH IT (ALSO SUBSTITUTE NETCHIPS KERNEL WITH A CFROOT ONE AS NETCHIPS KERNEL BREAKS WIFI TETHER):
I've Rooted my Note using Odin, very simple like most Samsung devices. I've got a full guide here.
Basically flash netchips kernel for CWM in PDA in Odin and then flash a SU zip from recovery and you're done (if that isn't enough info for you then check the blog). Current drawback of this approach Vs the zergrush exploit is that you cannot return the Note to a factory state for warranty purposes (the flash counter remains elevated). This means your warranty is really, truly, borked. I'm sure someone will crack it soon, but for now this is the state of play.
Video also has bonus demo of the Note running the 'tegra-only' Shadowgun and outputting it via MHL to an external monitor and playing it with a PS3 controller!
I know this is off topic but I got a few questions
1) If I want to flash stock ROM (KJ4), will I need to specify PIT file? If so, which one?
2) How did you get Shadowgun on market? Mine says that it's not available for this device.

I used Chainfire 3D in order to download Shadowgun from the Market - my blog has guides on how to use Chainfire and PS3 controllers (info also available here at XDA0.
I got another question, if I set Chainfire to use NVIDIA plugin, then will other apps that worked previously have any impact or will they stop working?
It will use the Nvidia plugin for them too, which may or may not break them. If you get the Pro version of Chainfire then you can use 'per-app' settings.
Ah okay, I just bought it. Thanks a lot for your help, playing with 4xMSAA doesn't really impact performance and I'm loving it.
Don't forget to try 16xMSAA... on the SGS2 most games are well playable on that setting, I would expect the same for the Note.

Unless told explicitly by somebody who knows what he's talking about, you don't need to use a PIT file at all.
In all my days using and flashing the SGS1, SGS2, and SGT7, I have used a PIT file maybe 5 times out of near 10000 flashes.
Hey CF, any idea why some of us are having issues with CF3D and the newest SU? I had to flash about three different versions in recovery last night to get Root to work for anything but Titanium Backup?
Nope - no idea. I don't make SU you know... (that's ChainsDD)
Also, I sent you a PM, any chance you were able to check out my question ?

I thought you might know from Chainfire point of view though...
Not really. To be completely honest... SU has IMHO always been kinda prone to issues. It's pretty sensitive code.
Ah well, I've fixed it anyway with the method I posted before, but it took a few SU build flashes in recovery to crack it. Will let you know about your question later.

Umm... the zergRush root exploit also works, and it doesn't involve fiddling with Odin either. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326955
Yep, thats true. "Fiddling" with Odin as you put it is second nature to many of us by now though...

True. But there are reported issues with netchip's kernel atm so it's probably safer for most people who just want root to do it via the zergrush method.

Indeed, kernel issues can be resolved by flashing the stock kernel back, Root should be retained. Will try it when I get home this evening and confirm and add it to the guide.
sir can i ask a question?
after i install the cwm and i will make a nandroid back up before rooting the phone.
if i restore the unrooted back up. Will i go back to became un root again and go back to out of the box state?
No, it will restore to the exact point at which the backup was made, after Root installation. If you have not yet Rooted your Galaxy Note please be aware there is a better method available now that does not increase the flash counter (important for warranty).
I have a video guide for the new method (thanks to zergrush and Chainfire), it is currently converting and will be uploading to youtube shortly (although it is not hard to follow the text guide in the Chainfire Root thread either).

Blu studio X support?

I apologize for posting this querie here, but there doesn't appear to be any development going on at XDA for the Blu Studio X. Would anyone know if there is a forum where I can find any custom kernels/recoveries for this device? Again, sorry to bother anyone here. Any help is much appreciated.
I have the Studio X Plus and am working on getting a bootable Philz & TWRP for it. I just started though so don't expect anything worthwhile just yet.

So far I was only able to get CWM working, and it is a generic MT version. Still working on it though.
Blu Studio X D750u? There is so far no Recovery nor any Custom ROMS. The phone didn't come with any bloatware at all, but if all the extra Google stuff counts as bloat, then it has basically all of it. Have heard of Kingroot etc working for it but would prefer a Fastboot way to do it. Cleanly without having to install various APKs etc unless its one of the trusted ones like SuperSU or Superuser.
P.S. I edited the post. Ok, yeah you are right should be cross compatible. There is nothing out there yet for these.

No, I have the d770, the 5.5 in. one, but from what I have seen already of both devices, they should be cross compatible... should be...
offcial support from BLU is so bad, they can't even answer any questions.
blu studio x d750u kingroot and factory recovery
I bought one and kingroot worked, repeatedly, without a hitch on slackware 14.1 x86 installed with the slackbuild for android tools. . Unrooted fine every time, no ads, scams, malware, or any such evident. I found a link on this forum, think, to a spanish site with a full range of blu factory recovery images, as well as some windows-based flashing utilities.
your system won't let me post the links, so check google plus forums for blu studio, here is the url ending

Is Shield Development Dead?

I just picked up a 2017 16GB Shield w/ remote and controller over the weekend. It's really cool despite the lack of full Play Store. I was really interested in flashing a custom full Android ROM but most links seem to be Dead. What do you guys recommend? Perhaps someone who is running full Play Store can chime in here and let me what you did. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I did see this. Looks very good but does everything work? I was skimming through the thread, and this may have been a comment from a long time ago, but mentioned that WiFi wasn't working. That would be a critical bug if that was the case. But if most of the kinks are gone by now I'm willing to try. I've heard great things about Linage OS on phones. I was actually wondering if simply rooting stock ROM and tweaking the build prop would allow full Play Store. There's got to be a way to trick it. I'll have to do some more research.

After looking closer to the specific Linage OS builds, it appears that they are for Foster (2015). I have Darcy (2017). Looks like I'll have to wait it out and hope for the best ?

To be honest, the more I play with the stock system the more I like it. It's certainly stable so you got to give credit where credit is due. Thanks for the link. I did actually stubble upon the Nougat ROM last night and downloaded the files. Im first going to root stock then replace the launcher and tweak the build prop hopefully masking it as a Shield Tablet codename sb_na_wf. Then I'm going to fastboot to TWRP and sideload the real play store and see what happens. (Fingers crossed). Not sure if anyone has tried this but that's my best guess. If it works great, if not , I guess I can stand to just sideload the apps I need. Were you able to actually flash TWRP on your Pro or do you just temp boot to it?

The newest version of Android for this tablet is Android 5.1 but it runs fairly slow and isn't really worth it I personally prefer KitKat because it still supports most apps and runs pretty smooth. To install a room you need to root then unlock your bootloader.

Hi, I recently bought an Acer A500 without realising that the software updates were no longer supported by Acer. The current build is Acer_A500_1.105.01_EMEA_GEN3 and it is on Android 3.01. I am wanting to upgrade to a newer version as this software seems to be outdated and doesn't seem to run properly. Is it possible to install a Full ROM directly over this to get to Android 4.0 or do I have to update incrementally? I have no experience in dealing with this so would appreciate any help I can get. So far any links I've found to the full ROM's are inactive. I've downloaded the following OS from the Acer website but not sure whether I can simply run these to upgrade: Acer_7.014.02.041.203.01.WW.GEN1_A32H_A and Acer_AV041.A500.RV21RC03.WW.GEN1_A40I_A.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If they are zip files take the Acer_AV041.A500 one and rename it update.zip put it on an SD card and turn on your tablet holding the volume up button + power(may be volume down) and it should update to ics(4.0). If you want to update past that( to so thing like KitKat(4.4) you need to root your tablet and unlock your bootloader there is a couple tutorials on this website on how to do that. If you want links to everything just ask me.

Thanks for the quick response. There is an update.zip file in that zip folder so will use that one. Does is matter that it's not EMEA_GEN3? Is there any benefit to updating from 4.0 to KitKat 4.4?

I would try to flash that any way, it probably won't work but it's worth a shot. The only benefit to getting kitkat would be more supported apps from the app store but a lot of apps don't work anyway because this tablet does not have neon support.

Yes but, it is a fairly complicated process(compared to most other devices). I would see if you can find any firmware downloads for this device and try those before you try installing a custom rom.
