What is the parameter for a custom ROM recognize the operator's SIM card APN settings automatically?
Is it any setting in build.prop or cust.prop files?
Any developer knows and could help me with that?
thanks
Resolved, only copied the /cust/config/apns.xml file to the new ROM and after starting the chip APN was automatically recognized.

Hello, from some time now i'm experiencing this problem.
I have no APN settings in the APN screen. It's all black and i have to manually input them all the time i change to a new ROM.
Can you help me to solve thi issue please?
Did you ran Market Enabler? If you did, then every time you change (fake) the provider, the APN setting will be refreshed following the new provider and you'd have to re-enter your provider's APN parameter.
Well, that's how I experience it on mine.
No i have a stock shui8 1.4b rom. no changes. the problem is that there are no APN at all.
So when the phone connect to my operator the system automatically didnt show me any pre
setted APN (web, mms, wap etc)
It just give a black screen and i have to add all of them manually
I encounter similar setback during the earlier batch of builds. This is common, as builder need to compile a complete apns-conf.xml (Build-time APN configuration) which is to be loaded during boot.
Try finding a complete apns-conf.xml and copy it to /system/etc/ folder. Follow this thread for further information.
I went through the flashing okay. And I was even able to unlock and do everything else including getting a code from MS. But when I get to the step that says run connection set up, it tells me that my carrier is not in the database and then tells me to manually set up my APN.
I know I did everything else okay, but I know I can't edit my HD2 registry settings because of this. And my market and xbox features don't work because of this issue. Please, if anyone has had this experience, or knows why I'm getting a "carrier not in database" when I run HTC Connection set-up. I would greatly appreciate it. I hope I'm not the only one having this issue.
Same problem here. Whats your carrier?
I already tried to add the keys manually using a registry editor. However it didn't work and the phone has locked itself again. Now I cannot even unlock it anymore using chevron (it says no connection) so I cannot launch any registry editor or try something else. Probably I have to flush it again. However what I still really need is a solution to this problem with the carrier.
I have solved the problem. My carrier is a small carrier from austria (bob). It seems that the HTC tool simply doesn't have any data for this carrier (the tool in win mobile 6.5 has known bob...). I used another sim from another austrian carrier (a1), whith this i was able to run the tool and add the registry data!
The Connection Setup didn't work for me too. Just ask your provider for the APN (Access Point Name) the Username and the Password and type it in Settings-network- add APN. Thats all.
For A1 /bob its:
APN: A1.net
User: [email protected]
Password: ppp
Yes, but entering the APN has not been the problem. I wanted to use the Connection Setup to add registry keys according to the WP7 guide. However, I already have solved this by using another sim of another carrier.
@oscar2010 did this work for u too?
Anybody know how to disable "Insert Sim card" & enable manual APN settings?
I put my AT&T sim card in and it works great! However I have noticed that I don't get cellular data and there is a persistent "Insert Sim card" message. Does anyone know of a way to permanentlydisable this particular message and manually enter the APN settings?
Thanks!
Settings -> More Networks -> Mobile Networks ->Access Point Names to edit the APN. Not sure how to get rid of the message on this phone or if it is possible currently.

Once you root the phone you can disable the message; you will need to either delete or freeze the Setup Wizard apps.

Thank you so much man!!!
I'm currently running Cloudy 3.3 on my D802
I'm having a slight difficulty with my mobile network APN.
The configuration cannot be changed, and every time i attempt to set a customised APN based on my telco, it jumps back to an existing setting already embedded into the system.
There is no current way i could "delete" the existing setting.
Is there a way for me to remove it manually via CWM or root explorer?
And if possible, where and what?
Guys any help please ?!!!

With RootExplorer:
1. Delete etc/apns-conf.xml
2. Delete data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db and mmssms.db
3. Reboot phone.
4. No more default APNs - create your own and enjoy.
EDIT: Nevermind, switched carriers. Mods please delete this thread.
Hello all. Background info:
MetroPCS. I had WiFi calling prior to 8.1 stock while rooted.
The way I did it was to delete all APN settings one by one until the T-Mobile ones appeared and edit one of them.
Problems:
Unable to get WiFi calling to work.
Unable to delete APN "MetroPCS 260 dun"(fields are greyed out and only options are "save" and "discard) (though the others are deletable).
Can't add new APN with appropriate settings because an APN with the MVNO type set to "none" won't save.
Things I've tried:
Updating e911 address via app and MetroPCS customer service 3 times.
Factory reset.
Reflash ROM.
Extract sim and reinsert it.
Meddled with the APN config file and since restored it.
I'm perplexed by this situation since I haven't seen or heard of anyone who can't delete "MetroPCS 260 dun"
Any ideas as to why this is happening and how I may fix it?
Thanks in advance.
