Hello guys!))
I am running android CM12 android 5. Before installing this I had omnirom 4.4 and that was also lagging horribly so had uninstalled that and then applied the CM12 android 5. I had followed all the instructions to the exact point -flashed,cleared cache data etc all correctly.
First few days it ran satisfactorily but then again started to crawl down horribly.
I must mention that my tablet had a bad fall a year back and the screen is having multiple spiderwebbed cracks but working 100% correctly (thanks gorilla glass!) So is it possible the cpu suffered something because of it? I think that is unllikely though because of how perfectly it performs sometimes, no problems in flashing etc.
Now let me describe how exactly it is lagging.
The apps slow down to a crawl. Multiple seconds delay in input after that. Delay in switching apps too. I can try ramping up the speed to 1.4Ghz (by repetedly pressing the apply button in CPU speed app because of the input lag) and then it works smoothly then for sometime. I think once or twice i noticed that the cpu speed while working had slowed down to 300+Mhz something ..... so is that the reason for the lag? The cpu speed is normally 384Mhz - 1.0/1.2Ghz , i dont mess with it often. Oh, and it sometimes restarts by itself randomly too..like after like few seconds of hanging.
I cant browse properly, cant read books smoothly, cant even switch menus and apps properly...it's a total killjoy experience :'(
I have already formatted to factory three times before this but the problem returns after few days or weeks. Have also done f2fs formatting. I miss the days of butter smooth honeycomb& ICS experience....
Please help me to get out of this problem. It's not a simple rom problem i thinK? :'(

I just bought the Samsung Galaxy 3 several days ago. The first thing what I did was unpack the package and boot up Odin. I haven't ever seen/used the stock rom.
The first ROM I tried was InDroid 4.1. Looked nice, but sometimes I had a lot of 'lag' and for instance, when I tried to open Talk (I was already online) it took about 20-25 seconds to view the contactlist. Sometimes everything was working smooth en sometimes all apps were lagging like hell. I tried to reset the factory settings in the recovery mode, but it didn't help.
After that I thought maybe the rom wasn't so good so I tried to flash the stock rom back. I used the newest stock rom from this topic. But I couldn't get it working, it hanged always on the boot screen ("Samsung i5800") and the recovery mode didn't work. After that I tried to flash the newest Kyrillos' rom but I couldn't get that working either.
After that I tried the Dharam's Stock Performance Rom. This rom was working a lot better and it didn't "freeze" so much, but sometimes it does freeze. I tried my phone also without my SD card (Kingston 4GB Class 4 SDHC) and now it does freeze a lot less. (but it does sometimes and some apps are useless now (like Spotify)). Don't know if it is accidentally that it does not freeze so much without the SD card.
Well, I don't know if these freezes are normal, I can't check the stock rom (because I couldn't manage to flash it) but it is very annoying when you are texting somebody, emailing somebody or talking to anybody that you can't type normal (like 1 char/3sec) or that you have to wait very long until something shows up.
Btw, some more information: it doesn't matter how many apps I have open, sometimes it does freeze with only two apps open in the task manager and for instance, now it is working fine with 11 apps open in the task manager. Pretty weird. There is about 200 MB free from the 245MB.
Maybe that somebody can help me out or can confirm that this is normal.
Edit (21:37): Ok, well I tried tonight to run several apps together, like Spotify, Twitter, Facebook, Runkeeper, Maps, Navigation, and some more. It wasn't as fast as my previous phone (HTC Desire) but it didn't lag like I described above. But when I run just 2 apps (like 'Messages' and 'Whatsapp' or just some other random combination (or sometimes nothing)) it can lag like hell. Don't think that it is lagging because of the amount of programs that I am running, but because of something else. But I can't find out what.
I just accomplished to flash back the stock XXJPM from samfirmware. I tried already the CPU frequency scaling but that didn't help either.
No problems for now..
I use bojpc from samfirmware and my phone lags alot too. Sometimes it gets stuck and reboots on his own!
Hmm, now I don't have any problems at all.. Only Spotify lags a bit when I use a lot of apps together, but I guess because that's spotify and this isn't a really fast phone.
I only miss a few things like the advanced battery icon and some other handy things. But that isn't a big deal.
Don't know if I'm gonna try another custom rom, maybe when 2.4 Fugumod is out of beta.
Firstly, thanks for coming to my help. Or at least looking at this thread.
The problem :
I was trying to download the 'additional data' from this game called Gangstar Miami Vindication, and after that (i had doubts if it downloaded fully, because it was done faster than i expected, anyway...) I tried to start the game. It was hella laggy (even on a dual core 1.2gHz phone?!) so I pressed the home button and went to SetCPU to overclock it to 1.6gHz for better performance (or so I thought).
I then started the game again, and midway of loading, it freaking hanged (or freezed if you may). Home button and power button, couldn't work. So I held the power button for 8 seconds to reboot it, and it did. Whew ~ but the horror ain't over. I could unlock my phone easily, no lag at all, but once at the homescreen, it hanged (again). Couldn't scroll to other home pages, or open apps, well simply the screen was unmoving.
This time I went on to remove the battery instead of rebooting with the 8-second power button hold method, and powered it on as per normal. Seemed to be working fine this time, unlocked, and whew - I could switch homescreens. But just after 20 seconds or so, it auto-rebooted. And when it rebooted, it hanged at the homescreen after unlocking as previously.
Now I'm in a panic, cause I just got this phone weeks ago and its not cheap, we all know that. Might this be a boot loop? I'm not sure. (well, it doesn't go through continuous reboots, just once and then a hang)
I'll gladly appreciate it if someone, anyone, can provide a solution to this. I was running on litening rom 6.1 and ninphetamine 2.1.2 kernel btw.
(I was thinking of flashing a stock rom via Odin. Should I? Will it solve the problem?)
Try to set your cpu speeds at what it should be again, if you manage to keep it running long enough maybe that helps.
Thanks for the reply.
I tried flashing an older version of Litening, 5.0. Seems to be without problems but the max cpu speed I can set to in SetCPU is 528MHz. Darn... whats wrong
Ahh finally its fixed. Thanks for the advice. I went to setcpu before the phone could let me down and saw the speed set at 15khz, insane. Then pushed it up to 500mhz, and flashed to ninphetamine 2.0.5. Now its fully functional, no lag, no reboots.

Hello guys. First ... sorry for my English and second .. let's talk about my problem I got my new Desire Z and everything was fine for a while .. then everything, even menu started lagging, so i rooted my phone with CyanogenMod 7.1. Again, everything was fine for about a week and then it started lagging again, frequently ... So i downloaded OS Monitor and after i started it i said: WTF??!!! My CPU is frequently switching from 250MHz into 1100MHz and back, same as the CPU usage is jumping from 0% to 100% and back every 2sec or so ... and this all happens even after reboot while not using telephone at all
That is how the CPU is supposed to perform. It scales up to finish tasks, then scales back down to save battery. If the CPU sat at your max limit (in this case 1.1ghz) it would burn your battery.
You have a bad app or process that's causing the lagginess.
But it does this even after rebooting phone, no apps have been started yet and even when i delete everything from my sdcard and use the recovery to delete everything from my phone and return it to its original state ... It's still lagging ... It works fine only about 4 days after SW update .. first it was fine on Froyo, then it started lagging, so i updated to gingerbread, everything fine again for about 4 days and then boom lagging again, could it be that my hardware is broken? Thanks for the reply btw
hello,
i'm getting crazy with this annoying micro stuttering and occasional lagging. it's happening everywhere - home screens, app drawer, settings, apps like xda and tapatalk. it's not major, but it's enough to be seen and to drive me nuts. i tried stock KK, Cloudy stock 2.5 and Cloudy G3. i also tried several kernels - stock, bruce Kernel and Dorimanx. i also tried tons of different settings for cpu governor and hotplugging; i tried the lag mod which have to remove the scrolling lag - it seams that nothing is helping. i tried with and without Greenify (to avoid a lot of resident apps), i also tried both Dalvik and Art - nothing. the slight lag is there - and it's just that - slight stutter, few frames dropped - enough to make you think that some setting will kill it finally. but no matter what i try, that slight lag and stutter is still there. can you give me some suggestions - i'm coming from Galaxy S3, which i used with Beanstalk rom - i experienced 0 lag and stutter and i cannot believe that i see that in a phone like the G2, given the powerful processor and the 2 gb of ram.
please help me not to get insane with that phone

I've only got 550mb of ram free and my phones flying. Not even a little bit of lag. But for the first week or so after re flashing the stock Rom I did get all that lag you were describing. Even after I debloated, flashed Bruce's and did every other mod you can think of. It ended up going away on it's own after a while. Maybe you just need to stick with one setup and let your phone settle.
You can use beanstalk on the g2 as well, if you were interested in going that route again.
I have the same issue. In games it lags and stutters just enough to put you off the game. I have noticed some videos do this as well like youtube. I am still testing this but I am reluctant to spend any time on it as it has a clear issue when other lower spec'd phones run the same games fine. Basic games as well. It is subtle, but the stutter is there. On some games it's can even be a full 1 or 2 second complete lag and game halt. I tried the CPU throttle option in hidden menus and this did nothing.
Can this be hardware problem? I phone LG and the support agent was extremely unhelpful. He said that it would be sent for repair and they will not play games, only flash it and run a test. I'm concerned this will be a classic case of "there was no fault found" and it will be a complete saga for ages. I already had this before with a different phone (different problem) and I'm fed up with phone problems.
Mine is from Vodafone UK store bought. I am tempted to try stock UK firmware to see if this fixes. Shouldn't have to though.... I also might end up trying a custom ROM to see if it goes away. I absolutely love the phone otherwise. I just want it to work.
PS: It runs benchmarks fine with high scores.
Hi all,
Is there some kind of RAM test app (like memtest x86 for Windows/DOS) for the Note 3 / Android devices ?
Lately my Note 3 started to reboot out of the blue, many 'xxxx has stopped' errors.
I was still on 4.2 stock (root) so I decided to upgrade to an custom KK ROM.
The usual 5 mins to leave the phone alone was not enough, immediate freezes. It seemed that removing the battery and putting it back in fixes it for a few mins but then I get the same freeze.
Nothing responds and the area around the camera gets hot. So I tried the stock ROM and various other custom ROMS and recovery's. Nothing helped, exactly the same, freeze within minutes.
So I did a cpu stress test, that went fine CPU temperature was also normal, but still it felt hot around the camera. Bootloader was up to date.
So in the store they told me it could be the RAM. They also told me that they saw I tried an custom ROM and I lost my warranty. I reminded them of the non-conformity in Europe and they quickly changed their judgement.
They said 3 weeks at most before I get it back...
Now I've got an nice Nokia 206 Blue
But to get back at my question: Is there is any app to test the RAM? And has anyone else experienced these kind of problems?
stability test from play store may help you. also check check 3c toolbox, it does not have proper memory test, at least I didn't see one, but it has about 60, probably more, different utilities, like system and kernel logs, sd memory speed test, device recorder, cpu temp monitor etc.
if the area around camera is getting hot, maybe that's the problem? if the cores get stock at full speed, they would overheat, start thermal throttling and then errors would start showing up.
same problem
I have the same problem with my note 3 LTE, is there any solution?
