Help Building a ROM for Mi4i - General AOKP Discussion

Hello Developers,
Xiaomi released mi4i kernel earlier this month. My Question are
1. Does AOKP is based on CM? because, I have tried CM based source, but I am getting too many errors.
2. Any one already working on AOKP for Mi4i?
3. Is there any latest tutorials for Building Custom ROM from Source.
Thank you in advance,
Best Regards,
Rocky

Question about Different ROM bases.

So I want to install a custom rom but I am confused as to which I should use. I've read different roms and I've seen that they have different rom "bases" like cm 10.1, aokp, aosp, and PA(does it have a different rom base?). Just a question, what is the differences among them? Please help so I can decide which to flash.
Hmmm, good question, well most of the ROMs here are build off of official ROM source and thats what it means by base and the difference between them is almost everything from ui to features and stuff like that and to know which ROMs you like try flashing the the official ROMs like AOKP, CM, AOSP, and PA and then once you find the base you like then flash the other ROMs that are customized versions built from that ROM base

All of these ROMs are built from AOSP; that's Android Open Source Project. It's where Google officially releases the source code. All custom ROMs on this type of device will be built on AOSP. If a ROM says it has CM or AOKP base, that means they built it off the source code for that ROM (which is initially built off AOSP) and added their own tweaks or whatever.

[REQUEST] Custom Kernels For GPE Lollipop

Why are developers are concentrated about developing kernels only from aosp or cm12, we received a gpe official lollipop version, a stable one, why not developing for this one too, we already said that we are willing to give donations if it is the thing that is preventing them from development [THOUGH THEY AREDEVELOPING FOR CM12] ... please respond, and thanks in advance
No sources=no develpoment.
We just received the official OTA. Not the kernel source.

Most stable KitKat AOSP ROM

Hi, I'm planning on moving to an AOSP KitKat ROM, I haven't tried any KitKat ROMs before considering I got my phone with Lolipop. So if somebody could recommend the most stable KitKat ROM out of experience, that would be great. Thanks in advance.
I would recommend SlimKat 9. I put this rom on all of the devices I have. It never fails me. The developer team is great, they plan their SDLC very well. The functions/features included are sensible and helpful. Even their Alpha build is stable enough to be daily drive. You can find their post here:

Rom which you have an interest that is ported to Zenfone 5?

If possible tell why
Of course AOSP or RR with android 6.0, but it is to hard at now, can it be aosp 5.1.1? becouse tank0412 aosp 5.1.0 has audio issues, if port the 5.1.1 and try to fix audio I will use it
[english is not my native language, but I will try]
My vote: surprise us! My only request is a rom a bit different than cm or aosp rom, they are very simple and equal. It's great if zenfone 5 can get some new experiences. Maybe a rom with Layers support? Or a rom with more tons of personalization like rr?
Examples of roms:
crDroid
AICP 10
MoKee
MIUI (Why note? A completely new experience)
Anyway, waiting
EDIT: I can't post as a answer -.-'
I Like Cyanogenmod also SlimRoms . Seems Like Devs started fighting again over there ego problems. I am Good with Cm12.1 right now accept a bug that doesn't allow me for wcdma only mode.
XenonHD ROM

Zenfone 2 is having so many roms right now, can we get them for our Z5 and Z6?
Well, MIUI never worked before but I can try ...
6.0 I am already trying to over a week but still could not make it work c
I'm not even there to little fight, I'm here to help the community.
As they are slimroms has versions for kitkat.
And if it works for Zenfone 2 has a good chance to run for Zenfone 5
PS: I found it easier to answer all in a so response
Look I even try, but if I did would fall on saying it was another copy of the build so I prefer roms that have not yet any available version to avoid confusion
Which version of CM 12.1 are you using?
I love MIUI,it is a great looking rom,i remember when i flashed MIUI on my old S3 mini
MIUI is only one example, but I don't think is a good rom for all, because still in android kitkat. AICP and others like RR are good
@TecnoTailsPlays Tank already working in it. C'mon, roms different than aosp/cm! (with audio lag fixed)

I tried code *#*#4636#*#* for wcdma only mode but menu is unselectable, I replaced settings.apk from tank build then code and wcdma only mode works but settings gives force close so still in middle of mess.. :/ o guess sources are old of this rom. If u could then please find a fix even changing dalvik value doesn't work.

I want Flyme or MIUI
@XHook please let me know if you find any solution for this.

vibeui is similar to miui ...maybe dev can port k900 rom which use intel cpu into zenfone
A Stable CM11 or AOSP Kitkat. That would be so great.
a decent lite kitkat rom will be awesome along with all the lollipop based rom,
BlissPop maybe.

Recent [KERNEL] for Chroma [6.0.1] _r62 ROM for N4

It seems Chroma is no longer developed and the kernel is getting old without security updates. How do I know what actively developed kernel is compatible with that ROM? Thanks for any feedback.
Since Chroma rom is a AOSP based rom, you can use whatever AOSP kernel you like. You can try Quanta kernel (v20). I'm using it on Dirty Unicorn rom since 2 months
Thank you very much. So the first is to find the base ROM, AOSP for Chroma. Also, is it correct to assume I have to pick an AOSP kernel for marshmallow (if they have for all of the Android variants)?
Nevermind: It is in Quanta's page for kernel v20:
"This kernel is made for Android 5.1 (Lollipop) up to Android 6.0. (Marshmallow)"
Thanks again.
