[Q] Unfortunately, AudioFX has stopped. - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running Note 3 SM-N9005 Rooted CM12.1 custom rom. It has a built-in audio equalizer called Audio FX. I disabled it since I installed another "more efficient" equalizer from play store. When I log into my other account in my phone, an error keeps popping out saying "unfortunately, audio fx has stopped". I stucked in there without any option since its looping. Then I reboot to try my luck with stopping it from popping up. Sadly, its no use. Its more worst since it is now affect my primary account. Looping endlessly. Please help and if there is an option to delete this "cursed" app outta my phone, please tell me. Phone is love, Phone is life.

By using ? manager in twrp you can navigate to any file in your system and delete them. Look for the apps name or ask the app developer where it is stored.
I mean clear systems dalvic/cache after .

Did you mean the AudioFX or the one I recently downloaded?
EDIT: Thanks kenny! I finally done it by renaming it in TWRP. No need to clear cache.

You welcome.
Clearing is just a good measure.

What folder did you find AudioFX in? I don't see a way to do a file search from within TWRP

[Q] PowerAmp- too many failed files

Hello,

Now i have installed PACman rom for 4.3 and restored PowerAmp with TitaniumBackup.
As soon as i open PowerAmp, it says "Too many failed files, playing will stop now"
Tried reinstalling, clearing data and installing trial version as well. What can be at fault??

I have the same error message once when I un-successfully patched it with Lucky Patcher. It looks like system files remaining are not matching with the clean installation. My advice should be to Uninstall, clean app data, clear dalvik cache... and then using PlayStore to re install both PowerAmp and PowerAmp Unlocker. Good luck!
Still a few problems....

I should uninstall both and clean the dalvik cache. then download both Player and Unlocked from Play Store. If you already purchased them, it should be free. And open the unlocked first, will prompt you to Player unlocked and should work fine...
otherwise, Titanium really screw your files man.. jajjaa
I had this issue. You have to wipe the phone, but even then it might not work. Try deleting the poweramp folder in the 2 folders located in /sdcard/android/

Uninstalled Hangouts and now it's force closing

I don't need hangouts so I uninstalled it but now it's giving me a force close every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to get it back? I'm running a deodex rom.

Tried to from the play store but it didn't work. It's sort of a user app instead of a system app at that point. I even tried moving the apk to /system/app to no avail

are you on a custom rom? if so just reflash the rom. (you probably won't even need to do a full wipe)

Yeah but this rom was a pain to install. Failed in installing a bunch and then finally got it to work. I'm too lazy to redownload everything and set up my phone. Takes me about 2-3 hours

you can do a dirty flash (without wiping) so you won't lose all your settings. it's usually not recommended becuase it can cause FC, but since you're already getting them, I'd say that its worth a shot

i'm sure there's some way to put the Hangouts app back into the app folder and change it's permissions, but i always end up screwing that up lol. that's all the advice i have. good luck :good:
here is the process to "push" a system app to your phone.
1. download the ROM or GAPPS that hangouts originally came from to your sdcard or extsdcard if you don't already have it
2. using root explorer or es file explorer, navigate to system/app in the rom or GAPPS zip file and extract hangouts.apk
3. copy or move hangouts.apk into system/app on your phone
4. change permissions to -rw-r--r--
5. reboot and it should work fine

[Q] Okay Google Now not enabled

For some reason the home screen on my google now for the latest omnirom build isn't enable. It doesn't have the "Okay Google Now" inside the google search bar. Is it something to do with the gapps I downloaded?
It has to do with the installed language, I think. The workaround is to uninstall and then reinstall your Google Search, or move it from system app to user app, and back. I had success with the first option. Then I had to uninstall and reinstall GEL to get it to recognise the new Search and not hang at the end of the boot.

You mean the your homescreen setup? Yeah. sorry I forgot to tell you that would happen. The important question is, did it fix hotword? Also, sometimes the text disappears but the mic is filled in as still functions. Be on the watch for that behavior as well.
As for system/user app converting, I have always used Titanium Backup for that.

Foreground apps crash with no errors

Hello
I have this problem. whenever I open play store and apply updates or install new apps, the play store crashes and the updates are interrupted until I re-open it and resume the update manually. This doesn't seem to happen when the updates are done in the background automatically without opening the store first. I have already tried uninstalling, deleting cache and data, reboot etc. but the problem persists.
I have the Samsung Galaxy note 3 SM-N9005 LTE version with rooted kitkat 4.4.2

I see that very few people have this very annoying issue
I just don't want to resort to factory reset. I mean I know it will probably fix it but I just don't feel like setting my phone up again from the start which is time consuming, besides, what would be the purpose of this wonderful community if all problems were solved by wiping up one's phone.
I was wondering if the cause could be some poor memory management or bad cleaning/anti-virus apps interfering with the memory management I mean I am a complete noob in terms of android management but I assume when there are multiple apps being downloaded/updated at the same time it must consume a great deal of resources but for an app to crash without even the popup message that says "....has stopped" I have never seen before

Maybe you try to get a appstore.apk, delete your's wipe Cache and then install the apk.
I would also recommend data wipe though cause with backup (I use titanium) it'll be less time consuming than everything else. Just backup user data and you won't have to set it up again. The thing is it's not guaranteed that the problem lies within playstore and since we don't have your phone in our hands it is nearly impossible to point you to the exact fix.

well... speaking of backup I also use titanium and nandroid, thank god for that because earlier I tried something stupid (suggested here on XDA though) I cleared the app store cache and data which is fine because I did it before with no problem but then I cleared the google services framework data/cache, I wish I hadn't because it literally messed everything up. I was unable to connect at all to the store even though I had a good network connection. thank god it worked again after I restored the app/data
I can live with that issue. it's not such a hassle since I usually check the play store for updates every day at least. but I may try your first suggestion though. thanks 4aces

As you wish b careful though. I think (definitely not 100% sure) you have to put the apk file in device/system/apk with es file Explorer or root Explorer and than put the permission to rw rr.
That's why I recommend full wipe.

thanks for the link. maybe I could try to update it as my version is 4.6.17 which is older than 4.8.19 and see if there is a change. One thing I don't understand is that one can only disable it and not uninstall it so does that mean it's a system app even though it's not in the /system/app folder? should I convert it to user app with titanium prior to update?

One more suggestion. Try to open application manager in settings and select all. Look for download manager and clear the cache then reboot.
If it doesn't help wait for other replies or wipe data will have to do the work.

I tried that but didn't help. then I tried to update and move to system, made it even worse as play store crashed as soon as I hit the update button. Reinstalling the app wouldn't help so I had to restore a nandroid backup. I'm giving up now but won't waste time doing a wipe data because it's not a real issue since I'm able to update anyway by hitting the button and close play store right after. All my apps still update in the background anyway

[Q] Leaked Android 5.0 Apps apks Help?

Hey everybody
I found a link this morning for the new Android 5.0 leaked Google apps: http://http://phandroid.com/2014/10...y-music-and-more-leaked-android-5-0-lollipop/
I've simply installed the Messaging apk and it is working really well on my Rooted AT&T Note 3.
I attempted to install the new Gmail app, but I could not get it to work. I was getting FCs and had to jump back to the current Gmail.
Has anyone been able to get the Gmail apk to work?
Uninstall Gmail using System App Remover. Boot into recovery, clear cache & davlik, fix permissions, reboot, then install it. Those are the steps I followed.

Guides seem to recommend people to move the Gmail APK to /system/lib/ (?) but that seems Android 5 stuff.
I moved it to /system/app and renamed it to Gmail2.apk, changed permissions to rw-r-r- and restarted, cleaned cache and dalvik, all fine now and working well here on CM11 M11 SM-N9005.

Here is a breakdown of my steps:
Uninstalled Gmail app updates through application manager (Stock rooted Touchwiz)
Removed Gmail from the phone with System App Safe Remover (from PlayStore)
Installed the new Gmail apk.
Used SafeStrap to reboot to recovery and cleared Cache, Dalvik, and Fixed Permissions.
Rebooted.
Pushed apk into System/app.
Renamed to Gmail2.apk
Set permissions (rw-r--r--)
Restarted
Opened
FCs for days.
I'm thinking about throwing in the towel on this until they actually release it.
