No.
Flash a custom recovery with ODIN then flash the SuperSU zip or a rooted ROM in recovery.

If it doesn't work there ate other methods that are just as easy, especially if you already have Odin and the drivers installed.

Help me
I updated my att galaxy s5 using the chainfire for a rooted 5.0 and everything was awesome and then It was time to trade in my Galaxy so I decided to reset it to stock. I messed up by not clicking unroot in SuperSU and trying to restore using odin and stock firmware (4.4), now my phone is soft bricked. I can get it to the Odin Mode screen and the download screen but Odin fails on every attempt to flash a new ROM. I remember now that I believe it said if you flash to the custom 5.0 rooted rom that you can not return to 4.4 because it locks the bootloader to 5.0 or something. Am I screwed and have to wait for a 5.0 firmware file to be released or is there something I can do to fix this?
I believe you have to downgrade to a kitkat bootloader(4.4) and then flash the stock rom. Try that and tell me if it helps on flashing stock rom.
How would I go about downgrading?
Try this.

I'm assuming the chainfire root you mentioned was you using flashfire to flash the prerooted L rom since that's the only way in aware of, if that's the case you're fine to downgrade as long as you use the right file, which is pretty much as long as its for your model, the flashfire thread has the downgrade_to_NCE odin package which I can personally verify works fine to downgrade.

Yeah, I think I may of taken the oc4 update becasue flashing it with Odin didnt work. I DID however get it to work by flashing the OC4 Kernal and then afterwards flashing the G900A_OC4_Stock_ Partitions. However im not sure if everything is in working order now, certain apps etc. dont start up when clicked.
Everything seems like its working after a quick restart actually, and Root Checker somehow says I still have root.
http://arstechnica.com/security/201...ed-by-most-serious-linux-escalation-bug-ever/
Article says "From what I can tell, in theory it should be able to root every device since Android 1.0. Android 1.0 started on [Linux] kernel [version] 2.6.25, and this exploit has been around since [Linux kernel version] 2.6.22.".
Does this mean we'll have a reliable and stable root soon?
Root nightmare
If I'm posting in the wrong section I apologize. But I also want to know if a more reliable version of Route will be available because I have tried 2 different methods listed on this site to root my Verizon S7 and it ruined my phone. Got stuck in boot loop and then when I finally got it to restore after doing a complete firmware reset it's now half functional half not and there's the constant security warning on my phone stating that unauthorized modifications have been made to security reboot phone.. it won't go away. I'm not an idiot I followed the directions fine and my phone is now Jacked. I'm just asking does anyone know of a method that truly works or a way from me to fix the situation there's too many different options listed on the site thank you
Rowhammer exploit might be better but I'm no development so no idea.
I hit up jCase on Twitter about the dirty cow exploit. He said yes this can be used for root. If someone wrote an exploit using it.

DMVerity is the main problem here. It isn't root really. No matter what we do to /system DMVerity will shoot it down. root isn't our issue I think, it's the bootloader.

not familiar with the note 4 situation. But basically I think Samsung finally figured out that the linux kernel will somehow always be exploited one way or another. I mean it's linux and people understand linux well, it's been around forever. So Samsung created something that keeps an eye on /system(i think this is how it works) and if it sees an unauthorized change it bricks. I may be wrong here someone feel free to correct me.
I got a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

XposedInstaller_3.1.1.apk and
xposed-v87-sdk23-arm64.zip
tried to flash the zip file using FlashFire app. but nothing seamed to happen.
I am trying to avoid Custom Recovery
i just want to have Root and get Xposed Framework
just like when you get jailbreak and cydia on iOS devices
EDIT:
i think i got it to work now. i just got this Material Design Xposed Installer and chose samsung
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/material-design-xposed-installer-t3137758
EDIT:
I found out today that i suddenly cant do a factory reset after i installed xposed.
This can be done through Smart Switch from PC though.
i turn on OEM lock and forgot to turn it off again. restarted the phone and now i cant get in the phone i got
custom binary blocked by FRP lock.
factory reset by stock recovery doesn't work. i am ****d now right?
i just couldn't wait to get things done quick enough.
EDIT
i fixed the phone using samsung Kies
Try to download an application called Amplify from play store
As u open it, it will help u to download xposed.
After installing xposed
Open it

Must be flashed with a custom recovery (e.g. TWRP) to install the framework.
SDK21 is Android 5.0 (Lollipop), SDK22 is Android 5.1 (also Lollipop) and SDK23 is Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)

I believe that in the instructions it is said that you need a custom recovery for that..

i read somewhere that it was a simple ROOT. but ROOT is ROOT i think?
in this guide they explain how to get "simple" root on galaxy s7 edge and then tell you to get Xposed but they dont tell how.
