[Q] foldermount broken in 5.1.1? - Nexus Player Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was trying to move some apps to usb using foldermount and once I get to the part where I choose the new path I can't continue. I think it is a ui problem since the app wasn't designed for android tv but I've heard other people use it successfully so I don't know.

for me foldermount doesn't work too.
read this post if you want to install on external usb drive:

Saving installed apps to flash drive using otg?

Hey everyone! I'm new to xda and I've been looking for the answer to this question everywhere, but have yet to find it. I bought a 64gb sandisk cruzer usb drive to use with my otg cable with the stickmount app. Because of limited storage, I was wondering if I could actually save installed applications to the flash drive? In other words, if I can use a feature similar to "save to sd card" for apps, but have the apps save to my flashdrive. If anyone could make a video or just type up a response, I would really appreciate it.

Hi,
Haven't tried it myself but you could probably use symbolic link on sdcard\somedir linking to the connected usb drive.
here is a link with more details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1442729
I heard that you can play off the rom that stored on otg drive. I am not sure about installed app, haven't try that myself either.
ES File Explorer has the ability to save apps to a folder that you select.

Maybe something like this could be used for the Nexus 7?

I have not tried this but the feature the OP is talking about would be very nice to have

I was going to write about the same thread. I tried it with NOVA3 and it works great.
You can mount directories from connected USB fairly easy.
You figured it out for nova?

Did you do this with stickmount installed? How exactly did you do it? I moved all Nova's data to the usb drive and deleted it from the Android/data directory but it still tries to download the aditional files back to the tablet. Any idea why?

How exactly did you go about doing that? I Tried for both shadowgun and Nova 3, and both tried to redownload the data
I can confirm that Directory bind does work..
I tried it with the following games..
Order and chaos (game i get on sometimes )
Asphalt 7
Dead Trigger
co-pilot gps (maps are 2 gb)
I have moved a few other things as well..
I am running the leggs rom with Nova launcher on my device. No other mods.
otg i use is a cheap otg cable from amazon. i think was like 1.99 for 4of them from Ohio someplace..With a sandisk micro usb key chain reader.and a Patriot 64 gb micro usb card class 10.. There Highest grade card. I tried this on a 8 gb generic card that was class 4 the games would not load or would stall and shutter when they did.. SO I WOULD Say a fast card is a MUST..
Good luck .. i will post some pics of mine in the thread i created yesterday in the correct forum where i was asking for others experience. Before i tried this last night..

I also tried it with asphalt 7 and when I open the application it still asks me to download. I first moved the application's data to the otg on a folder called "asphalt" then use directory bind to link that folder with the one where the data should be.
Any help would be appreciated.
(also tried it with Transformers on Google movies and did not work)

you can use LetsGoApp try it
It can APP to sd or otg
It can run App at sd or otg(not install)
website
http://www.letsgoapp.net/?p=351
you need root install buseybox
and install LetsGoApp http://www.letsgoapp.net
LetsGoApp Can
App 2 SD or OTG
After replace Android device, the Apps can still be run at MicroSD or OTG by LetsGoApp.
LetsGoApp is a App, which is a kind of solution for storage shortage and backup data.
The Apps can be run by LetsGoApp within the MicroSD or OTG on the most of Android devices .
The Apps can copy from MicroSD or USB OTG to smart phone LetsGoApp.

search google on how to create Symlinks in order to do that.

[Q] Just Rooted my 4.2 N7...some questions

Hi guys, i know that you problably answered these questions several times already, but i couldn´t find a exact match for what i want to do.
I have an OTG cable and a 4 port USB hub that i´m using for tests. I´m using stock 4.2 and stock kernel.
1- I´d like to add a flash drive or a external usb hard disk as a default storage device, is there any way to do this without external apps? like the N7 had microSD support? I saw a topic where some user was able to do this, but i can´t find it. Can i install games and everything if i do this? None of my FAT32 cflash drives were recognized. NTFS drives paragon NTFS mounted but it was not recognized by system in storage options.
2- Overclock using SET CPU will work as usual even using stock kernel? Which settings do you recommend me to use?
3- As you can see, i´m a noob considering the rooting possibilities, which more do you recommend me to do to fully use the potential of my Nexus 7, i use it mainly for playing games and emulators, surfing internet and watching movies. The only thing i did was modifying the script to run XBOX360 wireless controller perfectly. Any recommendations to rooting i will be very grateful, thanks!

Root: Solve S4 Storage problem with Folder Mount

Hi all loads of chatter about storage on the Galaxy S4, the best solution to the storage issue on the S4 is to Root and use Folder Mount from Google Play to move the app data and build a virtual link in the Android OS.
Video guide:
You need to keep in mind that if you have a crap SD card that is either slow or failing then you will see a performance dip in games or app responsiveness if it needs to access the externally stored files.
Your other root option is Debloater to remove the sammy apps you don't need, or use both these and save space and install more stuff
Does it really work well?

[Q] Help Loading Game Apps to 16gig USB STICK

Hello I am somewhat new to the really working with Android. I purchased a Nexus Player knowing that the storage was small only 8gig of storage but I figured with the micro usb port on the back there would be a way to add external storage. I had no idea it was going to be such a chore, but I am learning alot along the way.
Ok for starters the player is running Android 5.1. I
I found out to do this I needed to Root the device and get stickmount and foldermount
I successfully rooted the device using chain fire and then I loaded their side loader.
From there I was able to load the both Stickmount and Foldermount. I even bought the pro addon for Stickmount and have it loaded as well.
ok so now I attach my USB stick through the OTG cable I purchased and see that STICKMOUNT mounts the device to sdcard/usbstorage/USBSTORAGE
THen I open foldermount and if I look at partitions I notice there is no Partition that is showing my 16gig usb stick...
I then contacted the developer and they said just browse to the proper folder where stickmount mounted my usbstick and use it for the destination.. Ok well I then went to app analyzer selected a game, picked the OBB file, and browsed my way to the where my usb card was mounted but then I have no options...... I can't go any farther... I saw online it says to click the checkmark at the top of screen but there is no checkmark.. I have never saw a checkmark anywhere in this program.. I see in screenshots online there is a 3 dot menu at the upper right hand corner of the screen on FOLDERMOUNT but that is nowhere to be found when I run mine.. I just sit at the final destination folder and can do nothing with it...
IF someone can help me I would really appreciate it.. I'm pretty new at all this but am working my way through it.. There has to be a way to get apps to my USB stick I just know there is..
If someone knows of anything I'm doing wrong either why there is no partition showing my 16gig usb stick or how to get the menu on foldermount that would help.. If there are some settings on the nexus player that I need to change please let me know. I've been looking everywhere for answers and I have found no clear answers. Basically if someone running android 5.1 has gotten apps to a USB stick or any external storage please post the procedures for getting this to happen.. Thank you everyone for any help you can give.
