Hello can anyone please help me with a contacts backup software which is JAVA based. Actually I wanna transfer my contacts to other phone which is not a WM but is JAVA enabled, so please help me...!!!
P.S please I know abot PIM backup but I need a JAVA based software.
There is very little Java apps.
If your other phone is able to connect to internet via USB or Wifi, you can try Google Sync, which is able to sync to any google account.
Or find this software called 'Mobiledit', which is a really good payware, you can transfer contacts and photos from one device to another.
Or another way is to use this method:
1) Transfer (Move, not copy) your contacts (from your old phone) to sim card
2) Than at your WM device, move your contacts from sim card to your phone's memory and delete the contacts in your sim card.
3) Keep doing that till your contacts have all been transferred to your phone.
To backup, you can use Google Sync.
Cheers and Best Of Luck.
I remember my days doing that, the best way is to use Mobiledit, which I have been using since 2005, but now I just use Google Sync.
Hello everyone !
I have a HD2 and think of getting a Galaxy S - real soon !
I have the following issue and would like to know if there's some app available to help out! (besides the classic Outlook sync and then re-sync on the Galaxy)
Thanks a lot for your time , hopefully there's a similar thread where i can read things like this...if not , feel free to post here !
I've not used it myself yet, but I'm planning on trying Sprite Migrate:
http://www.spritesoftware.com/products/migrate/how-does-it-work-
i did mine via my gmail account, so it was a natural move, as i was already sync-ing with gmail on my windows mobile phone
I have used sprite migrate which is a free app. Worked like a charm. It even migrates your call history.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
If your contacts don't have pictures on the HD2 then you can simply go into standard WinMob Contacts > select all > Beam via Bluetooth to the Galaxy S. (At least its something like that, can't remember the exact menus when I did it on my Touch HD). This method also worked for getting contacts from my girlfriend's Nokia 5800 to HTC Desire.
If you have contact pictures though, that method becomes more of a pain. I had to sync to Outlook, remove all contact pictures, then export each contact as a VCF file which were copied to the SD card and imported into android that way.
Same here when I migrated from HTC Diamond to Galaxy i7500. I was already syncing contacts & calendar with google. As far as I remeber, I followed this guide:
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138636
Hope it helps.

mIQ. Worked flawlessly for me switching between devices.
vCard Expert will save all your contacts into a vcf file that can be picked up by an Android phone.
Yooo,everyone,thanks a lot !
I used the Sprite thingy and worked beautifully....i never thought of such a smart piece of software ! Nicely done !
They even offer a complete backup solution software for us rooters / flashers , so , even better !
The touch screen don't work, but i have locked keybord. Now i can't unlock without hard reset or new rom???i have some message and contact how can i make back up.or any body know where is the message saved in WIndows folder?
a) install a new digitiser - this doesn't need a hard reset and can be easy to do. Just read the repair manual to see how to dissasmble.
b) install my mobiler from your pc, onto your phone. You will be able to control your phone via your pc, you can then turn locking off for the time being if you are happy to do so.
b2) if you do b, then you can install a program called pim backup. This will save all your texts and contacts and messages. Alternatively, get microsoft myphone which will sync it all to a live account, and you can then pull this info onto any windows mobile phone. You could also activesync it to google, this will only get your contacts from what I remember, but it will also mean you can backup to google, so can then pull into another winmo phone, or an android phone.
I hope this helps!
Hi guys, I recently reinstalled windows from 7 to 7.5 but I lost all the contacts which I added onto my phone since I was on 7. There was no options that I saw to "save to sim card or save to phone" like most other phones out there so I dont know where they are saved.. I had a brain wave about the fact that the contacts were "linked" with my email account but there is only the emails saved. I am wondering if the numbers are saved somewhere or, each time I have to reinstall I will have to ask fro their numbers every time? Has anyone else had this happen?
Please let me know as I really want to update my rom and radio for better battery life!
Many thanks,
Marc
you cant save contacts to SIM card.. not compatible... phone automatically save contacts to your Live account (and you never loose contacts if you not loose your login data ) this is only if you login to Live account with your phone (and also live activation code entered)
you can access online to your account contact list via
http://mail.live.com/?rru=contacts
ahh yes, i see it now, so then I can export the whole list as a .csv file too. Now I sign in on my phone and can add it to the phone directory? Sorry if its nooby but I cant seem to access anything like that through the dedicated email app? Juat on internet explorer?
Marc
if you have mails in contacts list, you simply use mail app
and again, all is simple... you thinking too much simple: add Live account to phone and all is solved... all your contacts be saved and you not loose it and you use this contacts with phone or computer...
i give you this link http://mail.live.com/?rru=contacts to access it via computer (if you need to change contacts very easy if need it), not with WP7...
pda v8 has this function build-in
Not very good with the windows phone and am trying to help an older friend out that had a Nokia 710. He just purchased a HTC 8X and T-Mobile couldn't help him transfer his numbers and all. He had no idea about a windows live ID.
Sure, I could set him up a Windows LIve ID, but is there a way that we can bypass all of that and just plug his Nokia 710 into the computer and back it up, plug the 8X into the computer and upload all the information on it?
Thanks.
Reposting from the original thread:
On my nokia 710 one of the preinstalled apps is Contacts Transfer, I dont know if thats a microsoft thing, or if its nokia exclusive or if nokia have made it available on the app store (which they may have) but all it requires is both phones to have bluetooth on, then you set the old one to discoverable, follow the instructions. It seems to work pretty well with my ancient android handset.
I personally have all my contacts stored on my google account instead now, syncs more readily with more devices than the windows live account does.
There is no way to do a complete backup of WP7 except for a device image (which can only be restored on the exact same device it was taken from; even another one of identical model won't work). There are various homebrew apps that will let you get your files off, but currently we have no way to get them back *on* to WP8.
For contacts, synching to an Exchange server, Live account, Google account, or similar is definitely the best way. You can also try doing a transfer using BT, though. Nokia's Contacts Transfer app (which is just a Nokia-specific app, for all that it's pre-installed to the Setting hub) should work, but if you want to transfer the contacts en masse you may need a similar app on the other end. I don't know if HTC has one (Nokia and Samsung do, but my HTC HD7 did not). If you know how to use an intercepting proxy, you can access the Nokia- or Samsung-specific app stores and download their apps; that might (or might not, depending on how they are written) work.

He just primarily wants his email and phone numbers. His email is a @cox address though. Will the Windows Live backup let you do that? If so, I will just set him up a windows live id.
Yes, you can register any email address as a Microsoft (Windows Live) account, and synch contacts to and from it. You can do that even if you have the same email account also used as a "normal" (POP3/IMAP/SMTP) account. I'm very surprised he doesn't have one already; using WP without such an account is very limited (app store, Find My Phone, contacts and calendars, integrated IM, etc.).
