i moved all my caches to the sd card, and for some resaon market, google maps, and street view caches cannot be moved back..
if i try to hit move x cache back to int. memory, it will just say "cache moved to sd card"
how do i fix this? i dont want my cache on the sd card anymore.
ASTRO file manager.
This is a simple fix.
You can use whatever form of a file manager you have or prefer to use for your device to search your SD card (root) section. Which is where the primary selection of file folders will reside.
-Anyway, open your file managing application.
-Next, you locate the file folder called, "cache."
-Open the folder, and locate the specific cache you wish to remove permanently.
-After removing the contents of the folder - IF YOU WOULD LIKE; delete the folder as well.
Remove the application after having deleted the contents created by it. NOT BEFORE.

How to use a sd-ext on HTC Buzz (Wildfire)

Hi all,
I just spent ages trying to figure out how to partition my SD card on HTC wildfire and configure it to have CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1.
WARNING, THIS TUTORIAL IS ASSUMING YOU ALREADY HAVE A ROOTED PHONE, DO NOT FOLLOW THIS TUTORIAL IF YOUR PHONE IS NOT ROOTED & S-OFF. - I CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR PHONE GETS BRICKED, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
WARNING, ALL DATA WILL BE LOST FROM BOTH SD CARD AND PHONE MEMORY - Backup all pictures / music by copying them to a folder on your computer.
Your apps will automatically be backed up (Providing you have updated your Android Market to Google Play)
Step 1 - Download these necessary files onto your desktop and put the first one onto the root of your micro sd card:
- http://download.cyanogenmod.com/torrents/update-cm-7.1.0.1-buzz-signed.zip.torrent
- http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
Step 2 - Open Recovery Mode
- Hold down the power button and select reboot (if available) and then select recovery.
- If this does not show up, follow these steps below:
1. Turn your phone off.
2. Hold down the volume down button and the power button until the Revolutionary screen pops up.
3. Tap volume down once, (highlight the word recovery) and tap the power button.
Step 3 – Update The ClockworkMod Recovery.
- At the moment, you will have green text, and a black background. (This is version 2.5.0.1)
- This is the base version that your phone will run on, and does not support SD-ext for the HTC wildfire.
- Move your trackpad down so that you have "install zip from sdcard" highlighted. Tap the trackpad to select it.
- Now highlight and select "choose zip from sdcard"
- A list of files in your SD card will be shown.
- MAKE SURE THERE IS NOTHING HERE THAT YOU WISH TO KEEP OR HAVEN'T MADE A BACKUP OF.
- Highlight and select "recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-buzz.zip", which you saved to the root of your SD card.
- Confirm the install, and select "Yes - install recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-buzz.zip"
- A few lines of code will be shown, then everything will turn blue and the background will change.
- You now temporarily have ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0
Step 4 – Clear Everything
- Here is where you must have backed everything up.
- Select Mounts and storage.
- You will see the following (if some say unmounts instead of mount, make them say mount by selecting them):
- Mount /cache
- Mount /data
- Mount /system
- Mount /sd-ext
- Format /boot
- Format /cache
- Format /data
- Format /sdcard
- Format /system
- Format /sd-ext
- Mount USB storage
- format everything on the page, they should all work, but
- You will get an error on the sd-ext (this is meant to happen so don’t worry)
- Now go back (tap the power button) and select “wipe data/factory reset
- And finally select wipe cache partition
Step 5 – Partition the SD card
- Scroll down, and select “Advanced”
- Select “Partition SD Card
- Choose your Ext Size (I recommend choosing half of the storage space that your card is.
- For a 256mb card, select 128M
- For a 512mb card, select 256M
- For a 1gb card, select 512M
- For a 2gb card, select 1024M
- For a 4gb card, select 2048M
- For a 8gb card, select 4096M
- any memory card higher than this will not be partitioned, the phone will not be able to read it properly, but I would recommend an 8gb card, and if you have any smaller than 1gb, I wouldn’t even bother wasting your time – but go ahead if you wish.
- Now it will ask you what Swap size you want:
- If you have a 256mb or a 512mb card, select 0M.
- If you have a 1gb or a 2gb card, select 32M.
- If you have a 4gb or a 8gb card, select 64M.
- If it asks to confirm, select yes, now wait for a few minutes (grab a drink – you’ve earned it).
Step 6 - Preparing CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1
- Once you’ve partitioned your card, Tap Reboot Recovery in the Advanced Menu.
- You will be back to the normal green text and black background.
- Scroll down to “install zip from sdcard”
- Select “choose zip from sdcard” Now there’s nothing on your sd card. If this has happened, then you know your card has been successfully partitioned.
- Take out the battery of your phone, and then the memory card.
- Put the memory card in your computer (you should also notice that the size has halved)
- Put the other two files from your desktop onto the root of your micro SD card.
Step 7 - Installing CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1
- Put the sd card back in the phone, and turn the phone on normally.
- You will automatically be taken to Revolutionary because you’ve wiped the phone
- Open up ClockworkMod Recovery again (by pressing the down volume key once, followed by the power button)
- You will still have the green writing and the black background (v2.5.0.1)
- Select “install zip from sdcard”
- Select “choose zip from sdcard”
- Locate “update-cm-7.1.0.1-buzz-signed.zip” and install.
- [OPTIONAL – GOOGLE APPS]
- Select “install zip from sdcard”
- Select “choose zip from sdcard”
- Locate “gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip” and install
- Go back, and select “reboot system now”
- Startup will take a little bit longer than normal, don’t worry, this is normal.
- Login with your Google account and follow the Startup process like you did when you got the phone new. (or similar at least )
Step 8 - Get Your Apps Back
- On your computer, visit https://play.google.com/apps
- Select install on every app that you want that you’ve previously downloaded from the market.
Step 9 – Get Pictures / Music Back
- On your default home screen on your phone, Tap Menu / Settings / Storage / Unmount SD Card.
- Put the memory card in your computer
- Copy the files from the folder that you backed up earlier on onto the card.
- Put the memory card back in the phone.
Step 10 – Install S2E (simple2ext)
- Open up Google Play on your phone and search for S2E and install the first one that comes up.
- OR visit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.krikun.s2e on your computer and install the app through there.
Step 11 – Configuring S2E (simple2ext)
- Once you have the app installed, open up S2E (Doesn’t matter if other apps are still installing / Downloading)
- check every single box on the main app page.
- If some items cannot be highlighted, don’t worry for the minute, just highlight what you can.
- Now press the menu button within the app, and select “Settings”
- Make “Advanced mode” be checked
- Make “Extended partitions info” be checked
- Make “Set read buffer” be checked (and set the buffer size to 2MB)
- DO NOT MOUNT AS EXT4 OR SELECT IMPORT – EVER!
- Press back, and then tap the menu button again.
- This time, select the reboot option.
- Once the phone has rebooted play a few apps, open the browser send a text, etc… (Do anything that will use memory on your phone – Facebook’s a good one)
- Now open up S2E again, and the options that were not available earlier are now available, select them, and reboot again from Menu / Reboot within the app.
- CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE INSTALLED CYANOGENMOD 7.1.0.1 WITH AN SD-EXT.
If you ever want to see how much space you have left for apps, data, cache, etc… Download “FreeSpace” from Google Play - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.krikun.freespace
Hoped this helped guys,
I just feel this needs to be on the internet after the amount of time I spent fiddling with my phone, trying to figure this out.

Do you really need to have a partition of SD card to exactly half?
For instance 512M is enough for 8Gb card.....
Also a 16gb class 10 card gives no problems at all when partitioned.......

it is up to you how many free space you want
I have 8g card and always have a 256mb partition set. Never needed any more than that. I also use custom mtd along side with various sizes depending on rom.
using my thanks as likes
i ever tray, with the thread ROM rempuzzle and luck,, you thread very helfull if any pic,
thank you very much, it's helpful guide
Awesome...... Thank you very much. Instead of installing update-cm-7.1.0.1-buzz-signed.zip, I had used SplashMOD_v2.0-Final which installed really smoothly without any problem.
Excellent!!
Indeed this is a very good tutorial, very in depth and more importantly actually helps you get the job done
awesome tutorial buddy
Problem with partition: Solved
Just mentioning for anyone that has problems.
I could select only a few options is S2E and I could not use extended partition. I could not add apps to this or mount from recovery.
Actually I formatted it from recovery and then it worked. Sorry if it is a step of the installation procedure that I did not see.
How does this partition works? My data space is completely free... If I need an app to run even if I removed the SD card how do I install this to the app data?
I have to try his one out .. thanks

This not correct dude. size of 256/512 is nore than sufficient for wildfire.
I personally had 512/8gb but I had to format it to reduce it to 256.
Also the swap increases USB mount time very significantly. On cm9 I had to disable swap in order to mount it. Swap is not recommended for low end devices like htc buzz and I had read that it DAMAGES the SD card.
Plus swap enabled and disabled did not make a difference for me!
Last point:s2e is terribly slow. I recommend using cronmod script. It will mount SD EXT automatically at boot and ensure faster execution.
Sorry for bugging!
Also on step 6, where it says
"- Take out the battery of your phone, and then the memory card."
I think that there is a option to power off, not just shocking device in my opinion but ok...
I use link2sd which can show "storage use" ... no problems at all.
cm9
is this methode also helpfull on a cm9?
and does this patition works as internal memory
when some apps are moved to SD card, I always need to login again and again every time i start them up. (f.e. facebook, twitter, but also my agenda widget wouldn't work when moved. Will this solve the issue?
so I tried it with cm9. but there is something not working with s2e... I can't check any of the options in the main screen nor is there is an option "advanced" in the settings.
what did i do wrong?
in the log list of s2e i find the following:
Initialization...
Ext partition found: /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
Use built-in tune2fs
Use built-in e2fsck
Setup read_ahead value
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 not mounted... Exit!

So this is the step where all doesn't go according to plan.
so I succesfully partitioned my sd. installed cm and installed s2e from your link.
but s2e doesn't work as described. In the main screen , there are no boxes to mark. also no option to reboot in the application. nor is there an advanced section in the settings.
is this an other application nowadays? or did I do something wrong? in my previous post I put the log I find in s2e after starting?
could someone help?

Switch internal and external memory card

Switch internal and external memory card
Mount the external SD in place internal SD.
Option for editing via Root Explorer
Go to the folder "System" to set it right R / W.
Find the file "build.prop" and open it as a text.
Find the line "persist.fuse_sdcard = true" (in the middle of the file)
Change the "true" to "false". It turns out "persist.fuse_sdcard = false"
Save and exit. To turn off the simulation data / media on the internal SD
Go to the folder "/ system / etc" and find the file "vold.fstab"
Separates it as text.
Find the line "dev_mount sdcard / storage/sdcard1 auto / devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host"
Change the "1" to "0"
Add the line "dev_mount external / storage/sdcard1 auto / data / media"
Save and exit. Now External SD card is mounted in place internal SD.
Restart.
Option for editing via ADB
Line by trying to drive in the command line:
Enter only written in blue.
adb shell
su !Get Root
mount-o remount, rw / system !Mount Systems
mv / system / build.prop / system / build.prop.old !Rename the build.prop in build.prop.old
cat / system / build.prop.old | grep-v persist.fuse_sdcard = true> / system / build.prop !Remove line persist.fuse_sdcard = true in build.prop.old and save as build.prop
echo "persist.fuse_sdcard = false" >> / system / build.prop !Adding line persist.fuse_sdcard = false in build.prop
chmod 755 / system / build.prop !Set permissions on the file build.prop
mv / system / etc / vold.fstab / system / etc / vold.fstab.old !Rename vold.fstab in vold.fstab.old
cat / system / etc / vold.fstab.old | grep-v "dev_mount sdcard / storage/sdcard1 auto / devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host"> / system / etc / vold.fstab !Remove line dev_mount sdcard / storage / sdcard1 auto / devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_hos in vold.fstab.old and save as vold.fstab

echo "dev_mount external / storage/sdcard1 auto / data / media" >> / system / etc / vold.fstab !Adding line dev_mount external / storage/sdcard1 auto / data / media in vold.fstab
chmod 644 / system / etc / vold.fstab !Set permissions on the file vold.fstab
You can also through the terminal emulator, but without the adb shell.
As for the line "dev_mount external / storage/sdcard1 auto / data / media" in "vold.fstab". Logically, the stick should be mounted inside the place outside, but it's not happening. How did you know the contents of the internal flash to be (always was) in "/ data / media".
Do you have a question:
- A sense of this line?
Answer: - If its not say when entering the settings / memory crash bug.
I tried to write a line in this form: "dev_mount external / storage/sdcard1 auto / devices/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmc_host". As such, the phone sees the external SD card but says that it want to format. Formatting is not happening. In the setting of active memory item "Mount SD", but also the sense of it is zero. Perhaps this is because the kernel does not support flash file system ext4.
I decided that I do not need built-in memory as an external SDi decided to completely give it up for memory applications (data / app).
If you want to install in the internal SD as an external SD:
OR. Go to the terminal and drive a "su" then "mount-o bind / data / media / mnt/external1". With this method of memory will be mounted at up to reboot.
OR. Create a file with the following content:
HTML:
#!/system/bin/sh
busybox mount -o bind /data/media /mnt/external1
File Name: name
And open the file in the "SManager ads" put the mark on the "SU" and "Boot". The "Save" and "Run"
I tried to add a script in "/ system / etc / init.d" named "11mount" but he either did not run or he should run after loading the phone.
Be sure to download content from the "data / media" in "/ storage/sdcard0" as earlier in the "media" Many applications store their data, and now "media" is not available at "/ storage/sdcard0" as before.
I speak bad English and use "google translate". Original in Russian here.
This method works on my Atrix HD. Thanks a lot,ZaYAC-ua. I only did build.prop and vold.fstab edit. It's better than swapping via autorun script in init.d.
It seems to have worked however now i have this anoying message that says blank sd card and when i click on it it asks me to format it so i do but it still says blank sd card. I have a rooted Motorola RazrM stock rom. anyone have any ideas on how i can get this to go away?
help
First off thank you for this. I am having difficulty with adding the line in instruction 10. Where does that go and what should it look like when I'm do e? Thank you. I am running the current cm10 beta
Have you done the 4.1.2 OTA? Does this in any way mess with the new update?
I also get error "sh: mount-o: not found" when I try via adb or terminal
Is it possible to do this on cm10.1 or is this mod just for jb 4.1.1-4.1.2

Firstly thanks to ZaYAC-ua I tried this mod with bad results my New Razr M XT905 Running Jellybean 4.1.2 had to be re flashed with stock rom twice!!!
Both times after modifying the files mentioned above phone wouldn't boot only showed Red Moto logo at start of boot then nothing!!!
But I did persist and eventually had success this only takes a few minutes and places your External sdcard at " sdcard0 " Allowing full use of your sd card for media apps etc.
FIRST DO NOT drag files from phone to PC modify them then place back on phone this corrupts files result no Boot!!
Second ROOT EXPLORER would not modify files no matter what I tried yes I,m aware of RO RW and so on.
Third Download ES FILE EXPLORER Brilliant APP for file access, connecting to your LAN and seamless transfer of files between Phone and PC
oh yes and Editing system files.
1. Open ES File Ex Go to & open folder "System" set to R / W.
( tap top left button little phone & half world globe, open " Tools " then open " Root Explorer " then " Mount R/W " check both " radio
buttons and OK. This may need repeating as you access other folders to modify files!
2. Find the file "build.prop" long press and open with ES Note Editor
3. Find the line "persist.fuse_sdcard = true" (about half way down file list)
4. Change the "true" to "false". Should look like this "persist.fuse_sdcard = false"
(To edit press 3 little dots top right corner and select edit, to save just back out of file should see a window asking to save changes)
5. To turn off the simulation " data / media " on the internal SD
6. Go to the folder "/ system / etc" and find the file " vold.fstab "
7. Long press and open as Text with ES Note Editor
8. Find the line "dev_mount sdcard /storage/sdcard1 auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host"
9. Change the "1" to "0"
(To edit press 3 little dots top right corner and select edit, to save just back out of file should see a window asking to save changes)
10. Now add the following line below the one you just changed the 1 & 0 in, leaving a space between the two see pic below.
"dev_mount external /storage/sdcard1 auto /data/media" (Take note of spaces in this line it matters)
11. Save and exit. Now External SD card is mounted in place internal SD.
12. Restart.
I didn't understand how to make the old internal 4GB on the phone avaliable as external SD card as in ZaYAC-ua original post
bit above my skill level maybe someone else can shed some light on this one?
Hope this helps!!
I've try it, it will make the internal storage useless, so, it's not a perfect way.

No its not prefect but when I installed GTA3 and Pinball Arcade this left my phone totally useless 20M to store apps lol, personally I think a 4gb loss for a potential 30gb gain (32gb card) is a good trade off!!! Hopefully some one can show us how to make the 4gb available using ES FILE EXPLORER?

Hey not sure which words you are referring to the only top left corner I guided you to is an icon of a phone and half a world globe tap it to open tools.
Is their any other way like creating a partition in sd card and converting it to internal memory, if it van succeeded the sd card will be no more useless after converting its partition as internal memory

Some initial housekeeping is required. Then delete everything in mnt/storage1. As long as you do not do much with the ext unmounted there is never much there anymore.
BTW
Is there a good reason not to use this with CM based roms?
Ok I have tried to do this as my phone only has 2gb internal and filled up rediculously fast as i'm downloading maps and things on it and now i cannot do much of anything with it. When I arrive at the point of editing the vold.fstab file this is what i'm presented with:
Code:
# internal sdcard
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard 28 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc1
# external sdcard
dev_mount external_sd /mnt/external_sd auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.4/mmc_host/mmc2
not sure what to change here so could use some help. I'm thinking change the 28 to auto so that it is no longer locked to that partition... It is a samsung Rugby smart rooted and running CM9 if that matters
thanks

Ok I got impatient and started editing on my own and after about 30 different edits to vold.fstab and not having any storage (internal or external) for a while I got it all working. external card viewed as internal i'm sooo happy. this is how i converted the above code:
Code:
# internal sdcard
dev_mount external_sd /mnt/sdcard1 28 /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.2/mmc_host/mmc1
# external sdcard
dev_mount sccard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.4/mmc_host/mmc2
Hope this helps anyone else with a similar phone. this seems to be similar to several other galaxy variants from what i've found throughout the forum. Now i just gotta get the interal recognized again. I believe the first line still needs tweeked.

I'm running CM9 on a Rugby Smart as well. Were you able to find the "persist.fuse_sdcard=true" line in the build.prop to edit? I can't seem to find that line.

I believe I just added the line to the end of the build.prop as it was not in there at all. i don't know if this was the right way to do it but it worked for me...

Ok so you made me go back and inspect my build.prop
scroll down till you see:
Code:
# Storage Configuration
and add it under there. Mine actually says persist.fuse_sdcard=false right now
and it's working fine dunno why but it is...

download this file explore in setting select to show hidden folder link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523691
your stock 'my file' file explorer also shows hidden files although you just have to check in My File settings > show hidden files.
& if you miss that file in internal sd > android > data then its surely on external SD..(same path ext. sd > android > data)
most of the time high MB data directly downloaded on external SD so once check ext. SD too.. hope your file is there only...

[SHARE][MOTO E] Save Internal storage space with XInternalSD

Hello guys, For all those facing low internal storage space , here I would like to share xposed module namely XInternalSD .
What It Does ?
This module allows to change the path to internal SD card i.e. it changes the value, which is returned by
Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() to a custom path so that the apps find external storage as the internal storage.
This module is useful for the apps which have only file save location in internal memory .
This module replaces file save location from internal to external sdcard and makes them to store the data on external sdcard
instead of internal sdcard.
Disclaimer - I am not responsible for any kind of damage to your phone or sdcard or any other data . Use at your own risk.
PREREQUISITES - ROOT and XPOSED Installed -
How to use this module ?
1. Download the module XInternalSD : http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.pyler.xinternalsd
Activate the module in xposed.
2. Download the module KitKat SD Card Full Access : http://repo.xposed.info/module/kz.virtex.android.sdcardfix
Activate the module in xposed.
3. Reboot the phone and open the app.
4. Tick the option Custom internal sd path.
5. In the option path to internal sd card enter
storage/sdcard1 and press OK.
6. Either enable it for all apps [I have not tried this option ] or if you want to enable for selected apps write their package names separated by commas and without spaces. [ I have tried This option ]
Remember This module doesn't change the internal sd to external or vice versa , it simply allows apps to store data on external instead of internal sdcard. It may not work on some apps . Please go through the original thread once.
