Hi, I need some help with the towelroot method for rooting a AT&T Galaxy S5. I'm currently on Android Version 5.0. When I ran the v3 Towelroot I clicked on "make it rain" and then it said "Device not supported". I tried using the modstrings but they didn't work either and kept saying the same thing. I'm new to the whole rooting thing, I just need some help from experienced on how to fix this. Thanks for the help.
Towelroot does not work on 5.0 Lollipop, only 4.4.2
The ATT version of the GS5 has a locked & encrypted bootloader, so rooting is not possible with lollipop at this time. I'm not even sure if you can install safestrap on the ATT GS5 running 5.0.
visit the ATT GS5 development forum to get the latest info on your option.

Hi, im wondering if anyone can help?
i have a rogers s5 900w8 on 4.4.2 rooted with towel root. i want to go to stock rogers 5.0 that just came out and root. im not concerned about tripping the counter if i can prevent that it would be nice.
my plan was to download the firmware and flash with odin since the ota will not work but i cant seem to find clear instructions on how to root 5.0.

Hi I'm on Telus g900w8 I had stock awhile ago. And then was on omega ROM after I rooted for months. I originally rooted using chainfires autoroot. I believe in superuser I just unrooted then flashed back to stock kitkat. Then once you download the the new version of stock and flash it will be back to normal. Then from there you just have to re root would be my guess.
I'm currently on Cyanogen mod 12 in the unified android development for the past month and its the Lollipop version. I prefer it over the Omega just because of lollipop seems smoother too. For our model you would use the gsm version (if you wanted to try it out). And I just used the stock kernel.
I had rooted my g900w8 about a month after I got it and tripped the Knox counter.
Hope this helps.

I have the att i337 (galaxy s4) that i have rooted and have safestrap 3.72 installed on. I followed the directions http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/guide-odin-to-stock-updating-rooting-t2926642 for the installation.
recently i saw that android 5.0 was released for this phone. I currently am as 4.4.4
what's the best way for me to update the phone. I've tried ota, but it failed.
can i just remove the safestrap software and do the update then? I really don't want to lose my information on the phone again
You could follow the keep root guide in general section.. Try to keep questions in the correct thread thanks and good luck..

we'll see what happens from here.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 version G900V,
Android version 5.0
are there any rooting methods available for this phone yet?? My phone does not have lollypop
I tried the towelroot.com and I was able to download tr.apk but my phone won't let me click the install button.................Does this mean my phone is unrootable????
I've been working on this for a few months! ( I'm just slow and wanted to be sure) I successfully rooted the g900v last night. What build/kernel are you? On 5.0 its as simple as flashing 4.4.4, and THEN ncg kernel, which no matter what will be done before towelroot will work. My g900v was on 5.0 so my first step was to flash 4.4.4 (NK2) on top of it just to start my process.
Don't forget once you are done with rooting with towelroot and after you install SU, flash your kernel back to what it originally was. That way it stops acting so wonky. Ex. I had to flash nk2 kernel back to mine.
Look up Root g900v on ncg
Hope that helps!

An update with Baseband version I337UCUFNI1 of AT&T S4 (i337) won't allow to root.
An update for a Samsung Galaxy S4 from AT&T (i337) to a newer software (as of September 2015 pushed from AT&T ) says that the firmware has connectivity improvements and security enhancements, thus I think what causes failures of rooting my device.
I have carefully attempted several methods to root: like MotoChopper root exploit by @djrbliss, Casual by Adam Outler , the TowelRoot apk, Kingo Software... and nothing had worked. Haven't tried rooting with ODIN only because there were no instructions.
My initial plan was to enable T-Mobile HSPA+AWS bands reconfiguring the Qcomm modem(using QPST tools),but for that to work - the bootloader must be unlocked. AT&T has locked bootloader, and to unlock it I have to root my Galaxy S4 so to install CMW / TWRP, thus unlocking the bootloader I tried downgrading Android version with Safestarp but again, it requires root..I can't work it around, any suggestion? Thanks.
I have the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4
Android Version 5.0.1
Build I337UCUGOK2
I've already unrooted it.
My question is, can I install custom roms to it?
I read somewhere on xda that I can only install roms based on the base one using Safestrap.
I really wanted to install cyanogenmod, but on the page there's the warning ''you must be on build I337UCUAMDB or I337UCUAMDL or this will not work''
Any help would be appreciated.
Not possible without unlocking bootloader
I am in the same boat. Unfortunately at the moment there is no way to get CyanogenMod from OK2. I have spend so many hours trying for the same. The conclusion is that the bootloader is locked and there is no known method to unlock the bootloader on I337 yet.
