Hi,
thanks for your guide
I just flashed my vibe shot and everything worked fine.
Now I'm stuck, I don't understand how exactly I have to inject gapps.
when I unpack gapps zip file I have 4 files, where do I need to copy them? (root directory or system directory?)
thanks in advance
Zip with gapps contains two folders:
'do skopiowania do app' - this folder contains directories that you should copy to system/app
'do skopiowania do priv-app' - this folder contains directories that you should copy to system/priv-app
There is more than 4 files...
I can't download from your link...something wrong, can you fix it?
Try again - link is now ok.
Now it's working thanks

hey, still something doesn't work...
I copied the directories to system/app, everything fine
copy directories to system/priv-app fail.
what I'm doing wrong?
thanks

I'm using root explorer
Check available space (root explorer shows it) - if there is no free space, you have to delete something from 'system'. I deleted most of ringtones and alarms from 'system/media'. Of course instead of deleting you can just move it to phone storage.
There are two GAPPS packages, one 20150609_Z90-7_ST1522_GAPPS.zip and the other 20150628_GAPPS.zip, what is the difference?
Thanks for your tutorial so far. it is the best and easiest to follow. I was about to get frustrated because most of my work relies heavily on Google apps.
20150609_Z90-7_ST1522_GAPPS.zip - it's another firmware, version 1522 with gapps, but no root. I don't recommend it - there are many bloatware and there is no way to remove it.

I tried every step you posted in your first thread, but when I reboot my phone and changed the lenovo region to row, I don't see google apps appear in my screen. Do I have to install any google apks, like GMSCore.apk?

is this GApps package for 32 bit System or 64bit system?
root without flashin
Hi,
I've bought it from a french seller. He put a rom with lot of bloatware, multilanguage, not rooted and facebook not working (err 504).
Is there a way for rooting just to remove bloatware?
@Philostrate
Try manually install this app: GoogleServicesFramework.apk (user on another forum wrote that it helped).

Yes!, Thanks for sharing this it works, I am now able to use Google apps.
For folks who got this beautiful phone and want to use GApps, please follow all the instructions posted by @mr.mrcn in his first Thread.
At the step when you copy your files to the 'app' and 'priv-app' directories in root, copy all individual folders from 20150628_GAPPS to the appropriate folders in root. For example, In the folder "do skopiowania do app' there are two folders that needs to be copied to the 'app' folder in root; GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter and GoogleContactsSyncAdapter. Copy these two folders into root/system/app folder. Set permission as suggested by @mr.mrcn. (rwxr-xr-x for directories, rw-r-r-- for files). Do the same for the directories in 'do skopiowania do priv-app'. Copy all folders to root/system/priv-app and set permission.
Before rebooting your phone, go to root/system/priv-app/GoogleServicesFramework and install GoogleServicesFranework.apk. When installation is complete, reboot your phone. This should set the Google apps to work.
Thanks again to @mr.mrcn for this wonderful tutorial.
Can we expect a multilanguage version in the next days ...

Hello,
I decided to write this because I had a hell of a time finding out how to do this - all the information is here on the forums but not all in one place so you can just read and install the custom ROM.
The ROM that is available that I have successfully tested is CM7_RC1_X8_004
You will need the following programs:
SuperOneClick - to root your phone
Busybox - from the android Market
Xrecovery
Super Manager - from the Market
X10 Flashtool
and your ROM
Rooting
~~~~~
So First we want to root the phone, we will need to set the USB debugging mode to on. Go into settings - applications - Development and click on the tick next to USB debugging to turn it on. Plug the Phone into the PC via the USB Cable.
At the end of this post are files download SuperOneclick and extract it into a folder on your desktop then run the exe file called SuperOneClick.exe and click on root, it will scroll through a load of things then come up with a message that says "Root files have been installed would you like to run a test?" To which I always say Yes then it says "A su command will now be sent to your phone please hit allow in superuser" (there were no messages on my phone so I just hit OK on that message) Then a message comes up asking you to donate, so if that utility is handy for you feel free to donate to the makers of SuperOneclick!
You can now turn off USB debugging.
Installing BusyBox
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go to settings - sound and display and set the screen timeout to 30 mins I have found it to keep locking while installing Busybox as it takes a while to do.
Go to the market and search for Busybox and install and accept permissions on it. once this part of the application has installed you need to run it as it has only been copied to the phone - now you have to actually install it.
So run the busybox app and say OK to the message from the developer (reading it first of course) then it will ask you for permission which you say yes.
Next we see a screen saying Status: Working, Your phone is Rooted, amount of free space in system is 10128kb, Busybox not found. (we haven't installed it yet.)
The first time I did this it took ages to get anywhere and ages to install so just be patient and wait for it. Choose Busybox 1.17.1 but change the location of the install to system/xbin (the drop down box at the bottom of the page.) Then Click Install. For me this time it failed so lets try v 1.18 and the default location. back up and then relaunch busybox installer.
I found I had to change the settings a couple times when I installed before to get it to install, you might not find that. Sure enough this time it installed fine using v1.18 and the default save location.
installing Super Manager and Xrecovery
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First you need to download the new ROM files from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973753
Go to the third post and download the rom: (currently
http://hotfile.com/dl/109568508/3381b40/CM7_RC1_X8_004.rar.html)
Once it's down extract the files to another folder in your desktop and you should have the files LiveWallpapers.zip, Update.zip, changelog.txt and a BASEBAND folder.
Then connect your phone and copy the three files and the folder to a new directory on your SDcard. (I called mine ROM) Now remove the cable from the PC not forgetting to unmount it first.
Then you need to download Super Manager from the market and install it then run it - choose File explorer - click on the favourite icon at the bottom(the picture of a folder and a heart) and choose SD card, navigate to your folder where you stored the files and click on all the ticks next to the files and folder and then when they are all selected click on any file and hold it till a menu appears and choose copy (This is to copy the files)
Then Click on the favourites one again and choose root path. Then go to System and then Bin and then click on one file and hold the button till the menu appears and scroll to the bottom where you see paste and click on it and this will paste the files into this folder.
X10 Flash tool
~~~~~~~~~~
Next we need to use the X10 Flastool so download it from
http://www.multiupload.com/GYL7A7XQBT
(The thread I got this from is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746).
Once downloaded you need to extract the files and run X10FlashTool.exe.
Then before you plug the phone back in you need to put it into USB debugging mode again. Go into settings - applications - Development and click on the tick next to USB debugging to turn it on. Plug the phone back into the PC.
In the X10Flashtool click on the button that says ask root perms and press allow on the phone when it comes up and in the FlashTool it will say "INFO - Root Access Allowed."
Then Click Optimize and it will then reboot your phone, let the phone come back up and then in x10 Flasher click ask root perms and it should say Allowed again after a short time.
Then click on xRecovery. Power the phone off and wait for 20 seconds and then power it back on. As soon as you see the words "Sony Ericsson" appear on the screen start hammering the back button. Then the phone will boot into xRecovery.
Backup your phone
Use the sound volume up and down buttons to move up and down the menus and the home button to select the option (I think the back button is back as well). Choose the backup/restore option, then backup to backup your phone to the SD card (First the system and then the data)
Then when it's finished it will say complete and you can go ahead and put the new rom on the phone. Choose install Custom Zip, then choose custom zip from SDcard. Navigate to the directory you put your ROM in and choose update.zip it will ask you if you are sure so choose yes and it will update your phone.
Once it says Install from SDcard complete hit backup then choose the top option reboot phone.
Your Phone will then reboot into Android 2.3
Good job on this
Restoring your Phone to It's previous working state
To restore you phone back to how it was before you started all this all you need to do is Boot xRecovery by hammering the back button once you see the very first Sony Ericsson which takes you into xRecovery.
Then use the volume up and down on the side of the phone and choose backup and restore and you can choose advanced restore to restore a different component or just do a restore to do the whole phone back as it was.
I have just restored back successfully!
is there a big risk that i will damage my phone in case i will do everything in #1post step by step with instruction?
I don't really think so, but there is always the possibility when flashing your phone that you might Brick it.
I didn't break mine and I will do this to test every new firmware that comes out and because I've done it once most of the hard work is done which was installing xRecovery.
In short I offer you no guarantee this won't brick your phone what you do is at your own risk, but I had no trouble.
Yeah i know this that im doing it on my own risk, im only asking of probability of breaking phone cus i want root and install custom rom but i have a little bad luck
OK,
I don't know about failures - I haven't seen anyone complaining about destroying their phone and it didn't happen to me, that's all I know sorry.
super manager isn't copying and pasting files. i follow the guide and when i click paste, nothing happens.
edit: it just says "prepare to copy" when i try to copy the files, then nothing when i paste

In supermanager open the folder system and then select the folder Bin, you have to change the folder from read to read and write first before u can copy anything.
thanks, realized i hadn't given super manager super user permission. what do i do differently when installing Rachts Roms because they don't come with an update.zip?

When u have Xrecovery and make an backup it will create a folder in SD card "backup" after u download the Rom from racth u put the folder on the backup folder, then in XRecovery u go to backup then restore, u will see the rom there, just press ok and it will do the rest like the zip file.
to the OP thanks a Lot i appreciate this Guide!

Just need to be well prepared!!!!
Based on my experience.. I didn't really know what I've done that make my phone cannot boot... it's all because not really prepared... Need to do some research and reading 1st..
Luckily, when done some reading, I manage to boot the phone after flashing with SEUS..
And after that... I prepare to do checklist... Now.. Everything seems OK...

With your phone did you get a 2GB SD card? I did with mine and that's where you need to copy the ROM files to(you need to copy the files in windows to the SD card). The only thing I was copying with super manager was the xRecovery files. (and I'm not sure I needed to do that since you kinda install xrecovery on the flash tool, I just posted exactly what I did)
mss_2212, yeah using the SE repair might get you out of a few scrapes, it's good that they offer such a utility to completely flash your phone back to the latest SE update!
Well, V6.0a is now out I am downloading that as we speak.
^^ how is it running? i see BlueTooth not working.
i realize my error you were talking about copying the files for Xrecovery i thought you were referring to the ROM files.
Thanks for the help! I hope I success for the install of the last custom rom from CM 2.3! If it's good, it will be translate for the french forums! ;-)
I'm still setting it up to how I like it but so far so good - it's nie and stable for me and WI-FI works which is a dream.
Don't forget to make a backup first of your old ROM though!
Thanks
Hi!
I tried to install the last 2.3.3 CM7 with this guide, but I get a problem with the X10 flashtool... In fact, I don't understand if I have to lauch the .exe in my phone, or in the PC. Because with the phone I can "ask root perms" but I get an error (it says me to use usb debug the phone and install...) but I think that I've followed the guide And since the PC, there is no file in the "firmware" fold...
So I install the custom ROM, without that step, and it success, even if I get another problem, but I think, because of the instability of the rom (no market, and no possibility to dl by internet)
Thanks for the help!
Hello,
Not quite sure what you're getting at, I will try to help if I can (I'm still a bit of a noob really myself)
You need to run the x10 flash tool on the PC with your phone connected in usb debugging mode before it will work.
"Then before you plug the phone back in you need to put it into USB debugging mode again. Go into settings - applications - Development and click on the tick next to USB debugging to turn it on. Plug the phone back into the PC."
The Market and other applications are included in the latest version(.6a as of this writing) in a zip file called gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip to install them you need to boot into xRecovery and choose install custom zip and then point it to that file which is next to the install.zip. Then the market will work.
v.6a is really nice but ultimately I had to revert because I needed to take some pics but a lot of stuff is working well!
Ok this was a big problems for me because i love testing out sifferent rom but also have like 9 different emaisl accounts on my phone (NOT GMAIL) but email accounts.
And everytime i would tryout a new rom and i would do a wipe and then have to Start from scratch with my email accouts.
So i did some messing around with my phone and foudn out how to make a complete backup of all my account please read carfully
(I AM NOT RESPONSIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES DOEN TO YOUR DEVICE)
Things Nedded
# 1. An Android Phone (Duhhhhhh)
# 2. A Rooted Phone (Must be rooted to do this)
# 3. Root Explorer
# 4. An SD Card with enough space to backup your accounts.
here is the procedure.
Before installing any new roms or just doing a wipe you must do the following to backup your accounts.
Open Root Explorer and browse to the following folder on your phone
data/data/com.android.email folder
in this folder should find the following folders
chache
database
files
lib
shared_prefs
now copy each folder and browse back into your sd card and paste them into a new folder on your SD card.
now your email setting are safe and you can wipe the data from your phone.
now once you have installed a new rom or did a master reset.
go into your email app and add 1 email account somthign simple like a gmail or aol etc....
install and run root explorer again,
browse to your SD card were you saved toye 5 email folders
copy them and then browse back to
data/data/com.android.email
make a new folder in the data/data/com.anroid.email folder
so now open the new created folder so you will be in data/data/com.android.email/new folder (or what ever you named the new folder)
now paste the 5 folders in this new folder
chache
database
files
lib
shared_prefs
now open each folder and copy all files inside 1 of the folders for instance data/data/com.android.email/new folder/database copy all files in this folder
now browse back to data/data/com.android.emal folder and open the database folder located here in data/data/com.android.email.
so now you will be in the following folder data/data/com.android.email/database
now paste your files in this folder. (Please Note you may ends up with 2 of the same files for instance) (webview.db & webview.db -copy) delete the webview.db file and keep the webview.db-copy file.
now rename the webview.db-copy file to webview.db and any additional file that may have the -COPY extension on it delete the orignal and rename the -COPY file as the original file name.
keep doing this process with all 5 folders.
once done if you go into your email.app you will only still see the emailaccount you created erlier this is normal.
Now reboot your phone (Full Reboot) power off then power on.
when you return to your email.app you will see that all your account have returened.
if you need any help let me know.
i will add screen shots later to help out
Hope this helps.

Great tutorial! This has been driving me nuts for years.
Just tried it though and the copy process failed... I believe a file was in use. I went to the app manager and force stopped email, but it still failed in copying. It did get farther though.
Any idea what else I should force stop for succes?
My plan b is to boot into recovery and see if I can do the copy steps from TWRP. Seems like I saw a file manager in there before..
Thanks again!

I did have success copying with TWRP. Now I just have to backup my current rig and see where this process gets me! Thanks!

What this software does ?
This software has made from 5 parts.
1. Rename APK
2. Compare APK
3. Find APK from txt
4. APK Batch Installer | Uninstaller
5. Backup | Restore Data
Rename :
1. Add apk files to the list by doing one of the following:
• Double-click apk files in Explorer while the Rename-tab is active
• Drag & Drop from Explorer
• Add single files via “Add APK”
• Add whole directories via “Choose Folder” (Folder history via “▼”)
• Add files from your Phone via “From Phone” (ADB connection needed)
Note: You can sort the list individually by clicking the column headers.
2. Setting the renaming pattern
Set the desired pattern via the Dropdown-menu below the list.
If you want, you can set an individual pattern by using the provided tags.
Note: <Manual|Label> will use the names provided in the manual rename-list.
For apps that are not the list, the standard label is used…
3. Renaming:
• Select the files you want to be renamed by marking them in the list
• Press “Preview” to see what the files will be named or press “Rename” straight away.
• If you want to send these files to the Compare-tab, right-click on the list and press “Compare”
Monitor :
You can set up a folder for APK Organize to monitor. It will automatically rename all apk files you put in there.
Set up your desired directory and the renaming pattern, then click “Enable” to start the monitoring.
You can now close APK Organize. It will continue to run in system tray.
Check “Auto Start” to start monitoring on windows startup.
You can check what APK Organize is doing by clicking “Logs”
Note: Existing files will not be renamed. Monitoring only works for newly added files…
Newly added apps that already exist will automatically be overwritten.
Check “Ask for overwrite”, if you don’t want that.
Manual Rename :
Sometimes two or more applications have the same label name but are in fact different apps (f.e. Angry Birds).
If you want APK organize to rename any apps differently, you can associate a package name with an individual name.
1. Add apps to this list by doing one of the following:
• Drag & Drop from Explorer
• Add single files via “APK” → “Add”
• Add whole directories via “APK” → “Add from folder”
2. Double-click or press F2 one the corresponding cell in the right column and enter the desired name
3. Save the list anywhere you want via “File” → “Save”.
4. Close the window, go to “Manual Rename” → “Load list” and select the list you have created.
5. Set the renaming pattern to "<Manual|Label> v<Version>" or "<Manual|Label>".
6. Press “Rename”. APK Organize will now rename the files accordingly. For apps that are not specified in your list, it will use the regular label.
Compare :
1. Choose if you want to compare by file name or by Label name and version from “Search with”
2. Choose the directory to compare to on the top panel. (F.e. your apk archive)
3. Add the new apk files to the list:
• Double-click apk files in Explorer while the Compare-tab is active
• Drag & Drop from Explorer
• Add single files via “Add APK”
• Add whole directories via “Add Folder” (Folder history via “▼”)
4. Press “Scan”. APK Organize will now automatically mark every finding in the bottom list.
5. You can now do the following with the results (or your own markings):
• Delete: Deletes all old files… You will then be asked, what to do with the new files.
• Copy: Copies the new files to the specified directory
• Move: Moves the new files to the specified directory
Note: You can do the above steps for files without results too by right-clicking them.
You can also load an exception list. Files that are on this list will be moved to an exception
folder on the target directory to be organized manually…
Search :
This tab enables you to do operations with a specified list of apps, f.e. if you have to install a bunch of apps after a wipe. If you have to do this very often and the apps are always the same, APK Organize can automate this process for you:
1. Create the list of apps you want to do operations with or select a list via “Select list”, if you have already done one of the steps below.
The list MUST only contain the app’s label names without versionnumber, divided by a linebreak. You can do this by the following:
• Manually add the apps with “Add”, Drag & Drop from Explorer or double-click from Explorer and save it via “Save List” for further use.
• Export a list with ROM Toolbox or any app that is capable of exporting list in the demanded pattern and load it into APK Organize. Make the necessary changes and save the list.
2. Choose the directory where your apk files are stored for the left list.
3. Press “Scan”. APK Organize will now list every finding in the bottom list.
4. Do the operations of your desire via the provided buttons on the bottom.
Install :
Installing apk files:
2. Press “Install”. APK Organize will now try to install the apps over ADB. See the log, if there are any errors.
Note: You can view details like label, package name and permissions via right-click → Details
“Unknown sources” has to be enabled on your phone to install apk files…
You can sort the lists individually by clicking the column headers.
Uninstalling APK files:
1. Go to “Mode → Uninstaller” and choose, if you want to view the installed apps by label or package name.
2. Select the Apps you want to uninstall by marking them and press “Uninstall”
3. APK Organize will now try to uninstall the apps over ADB. See the log, if there are any errors.
Backup : (Root Needed!)
1. Set the directory you want to store your backups in via “Backup Directory”.
2. Go to “Packages” and choose, if you want to view the installed apps by label or package name, or click “From Directory” to display the backups from your chosen directory.
3. Check “App” and/or “Data” for the apps you want to backup or restore and press “Backup” / ”Restore”.
4.APK Organize will now try to complete the task. See the log, if there are any errors.
Notes: If most of the backups/restores fail for you it may be that your ADB daemon is running in secure mode. This can happen on stock kernels, but also on other setups. In that case, try running ADB ROOT (and maybe set it to Auto mode) in APK Organize
For Restores “Unknown sources” has to be enabled on your phone…
You can sort the lists or check/uncheck something for all apps by clicking the column headers.
If you have checked App and Data for an App and it gives an error, try checking “Skip failure for App or Data while backing up both”. It is not necessarily an error, because there just might be no data to back up…

Glad you like it !
Those guys who downloaded, No idea ?
Is it worked ? No bugs found ? No feature you need ?
I tested it and it works perfectly as far as renaming and comparing is concerned . I would love this application to have the capability of getting the apps list by itself from the phone. And also to generate a text file with app list or an html with links in the folder with apks or alphabetically arranging the apks etc.
And ya i got some error about the aapt stuff while renaming , I renamed the apps with different tool and then compared them with this tool.
I would love this thing to develop more . All the best ! and thanks again.

Tested new version , no bugs as such . But sometimes it doesn't delete the older version of an apk.
Hope u could add a feature to backup and restore the app data also just like titanium does . and also compare the data too.
Thanks for this small but very useful tool.

Hey man, here is an Idea, change the compare module to compare by hash, like MD5.
Some people, me included, mod apk for theming but the package name is the same, maybe comparing with md5 and give an option to rename the duplicates will be cool.
Also a small request, is it possible for you to make an Android application to rename a bunch of APK in a given directory to their Application Name, like "Application Name v1.0.0.apk" or "applicationname_1.0.0.apk" or something like that? I ask this because I installed a backup software but it makes this backups with the package name and I always end with files like com.something.apk and it is a real pain to find out which file is what.

Hey.
comparing is not by package name, it searchs by application name.
for searching hash if you help and explain more maybe i can do some work !
for duplicates the software asks what to do ! keep both or replace or skip !
and your last request, Renaming in phone !!?
Hi, I've seen some posts on how to add Google Play Store on my chinese version of the Zenfone 2. However, can some one please walk step by step on how to do it? All I saw was "Transfer it to the phone and enable unknown sources...Install apk normally.." - but - I don't know where it needs to go and how to install it? The file I received was "com.forfun.ericxiang-1.apk" Thank you
1. Copy your file to Internal storage or SD card
2. Go to SETTING >> SECURITY >> UNKNOWN SOURCES enable it.
3. Go to your copied file (base on step 1 where you copied file internal or sd card) and then install it
Thank you. So I did the first 2 steps. Can you please explain step 3? Do I double click on the APK file? I currently have it on the Internal Storage - by itself and not in the folders listed

On an Android device you don't "double click" anything. You tap once on the file. Then a prompt will appear with a list of all the permissions the APP wants to access to and you can choose between installing it or not.
Thanks. I can't "tap" it because it's a file in my Internal Storage. I can only see the file on my computer. What do I need to do to have it appear on my Zenfone 2 as a "tappable" icon or something? Sorry - I'm new to this phone...
Open File Manager application on your phone and then go to your copied file, tap it
Got. it! Thank you! However, it vanishes when I open it after it was installed. Any thoughts?? You guys are very helpful!
Hi - never mind. It's now setup properly. However, I'll need to try top open it with a better internet connection. Keep you posted and thank you very much.
I think that method of installing of play store on CN version won't work...... So that only the play store gone

Try this it wil help, but that post need root access, I know your are a new to android. So read that fully, in the last few line says, they give instruction for non root users, so try that instead of rooting boz ur new dont root untill u know some experience in android files, apk, and other basic things....
Just Google for Google installer apk. Use it to install play store and Google services framework. Then update these both to the latest versions. Any other Google apps can be installed directly from playstore.
