I thought about starting a thread to see how far can we undervolt our Exynos 7420 since there is no way to check our CPU binning I undervolted little cores -75 and big cores to -100 and my max frequency is stable at 2.3 Ghz! Share your settings

What app & kernel are you using to undervolt and overclock?
Sent from my SM-G925R4 using Tapatalk
KToon kernel (?) and Ktweaker app

You can check your bin, use file explorer to navigate to this file and use note editor to read it
/sys/kernel/debug/asv_summary

Hi,
I am currently using an Arc S with DoomKernel 18 (1.6ghz) + Arconium 7.0 on .62.
I've used NoFrills CPU to set max at 1.6ghz and min at 0.3ghz but when I used the app CPU Spy I see the following: 1ghz 15%, 249mhz 47%, Deep Sleep 37%.
How come my arc s is never running at 1.6ghz? Is this because it never saw the need to and could perform at 1ghz or is it because it is clocked in some way?
Usually it depends on the governor you are using.
After you set the processor speed, try to reset the timer in the CPU Spy, which might help.

Is there a governor you recommend? I am currently using SmartsassV2 but it was initially set on interactive I think

Try InteractiveX ?

Smartassv2 works for me, just don't forget to tick the "set on boot" tickbox

-0.25mv / 1500Mhz gives more quadranet vs stock 1400 mhz and stock voltage
how healthy to keep it this way? any risk go up to 1600Mhz?
on last Omega JB rom i went from 4000 to 5130 in quadrant using this OC.
Thanks!
Of course higher clocks gives vigher benchmarks. Uv doesn't affect unless you uv to the point that voltage can't keep cpu stable.

The question: 1500-1600 levels risky to CPU ?
UV lower is good to keep temp lower...
From my experience, undervolting offers no benefits at all. Temperature remains the same and battery seems to be worse when idling.
with no overclocking and with stock 4.1.1 li7 i have 6300 scores in Quadrant..... with overclocking to 1600 mhz i reached 6700... no sense to overclock it

Which rom you use ?
+1
Learning time!
-UV provides stability, its not to save battery. Its such a miniscule amount of volatge it wont mess up battery life, but it will help stability of the CPU...
-And when you OC, you need to undertand that it doesnt stay at the max speed on all four cores all the time. It changes to fit the needs of the user.
I think the CPU can reach 2.0GHz easily, i mean my single core Captivate with a Hummingbird 1.0GHz ARM cortex-A8 could reach 1.92GHz and stay stable with -50mV UV.

I have nexus 7 3G 32gb with trinity kernel,stock ROM.And i have question how do i overclock GPU?
Use Trinity kernel toolbox. It has the option to set the speed of the GPU and adjust the CPU voltages

Can my GPU burn or something like that?Or high GPU frequency will cause only reboot?
I've read that the max recommended GPU speed is 484.Going much higher the battery will drain too much and will get hot. If you set the speed to high it will become unstable and usually reboot. It will reboot and rest default speeds long before it will have time to melt. Just don't use your over clock settings to be set on boot

1. easiest way, use the trinity kernel toolbox and adjust the gpu slider up or down.
2. or manually go to /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/gpu_oc/ with a root file explorer(like root explorer) and manually edit the variable and save it.
yes, it can get very hot if overclocking the gpu. especially when playing cpu intensive games. worst thing is youll reboot if things go haywire.
Excessive voltage and heat can easily fry a CPU/GPU and other motherboard components, so be careful.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and fairly new to Hacking and overclocking android devices. However I have been building and overclocking high end PC's for sometime. So I am no stranger to the risks or processes of overclocking.
But I have some questions that maybe you all can help me out with before I start overclocking my Nexus 7.
Here are my Current Specs and Software:
Nexus 7 Wi-fi version
SmoothRom v5.0 + LeanKernel
Currently I am overclocked to 1500 Mhz Max with 204 Mhz Min + Stock voltage
I have been able to find information about CPU overclocking. But after extensive searching I have not been able to find much on Nexus 7 GPU overclocking.
1. Does my kernel support GPU overclocking?
2. If so how do I enable it? Or where is it located? and what settings should I be looking for (Names)?
3. If you need an App to overclock the GPU are there any that are free (Or at least one worth paying for?).... and which one if any supports my kernel?
4. Are there any good Nexus 7 CPU and GPU overclocking guides someone could point me to?
Basically I am looking for someone who is experienced in Nexus 7 overclocking, to point me in the right direction and help me with some indepth questions that may come up.
Thanks guys
What temperature is your CPU?

According to System tweaks App 39c to 40c while idling in that program. I don't know how accurate that app is though.... so if there is a standard better app to monitor your CPU/GPU temps I am all ears
I have yet to find an app that allows you to monitor your temps during load. Again if you can suggest one I am all for it.
Try trickstermod

Download trickster mod from the app store you should be able to change the gpu voltage there
Sent from my GT-I8160 using xda app-developers app
Alright I will check that out. But what about GPU clock settings can trickster change those too??? And if so.... What setting am I looking for because I saw nothing referencing GPU clocks in those words
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
It over clocks the GPU its on the 2nd to last page I think and you will see the clock speed and you can edit it, don't over kill though haha
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Lean kernel doesn't have GPU over clocking settings. Try M-kernel, you'll find gpu settings in the specific menu of trickster mod.
Anyone who undervolted his g2 ?
How low can we go ?
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
Very good question.
I hope some guys will reply who have already undervolted.
My max cpu frequency is 1190 MHz.
I don't think you need more speed on 4.2.2 (actually i'm on stock rom).
Gonna depend on soc binning for your device
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
My soc binning is 4 and I'm able to maintain stable undervolt by 50 mv (2.26 ghz @ 975 mv I think)

-62.5 here, I'm sure I can do -75 ( done it before) but it get micro lag, so I go to -62.5 works fine, nice and cool.
-100

Which app?
Trickstermod

I'd like to hear more about this! At stock settings my phone overheats and throttles badly. Been testing different voltages and at the moment I'm down five -12,5mV steps @ 962,5mV. Better temperatures and better performance due to less throttling.
I wish I had a rooted phone to do that

Where can you find the SOC binning value?
Edit: Hey looks like I found it
You can see the binning of your SoC in the last_kmsg located in /proc/last_kmsg.
You can also found it in /sys/devices/system/soc0 and search for pvs_bin and speed_bin or /d/acpuclk.
