[Q] How can I transfer my apps to sd. - Galaxy S3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I transfer my apps to my SD Card ? Currently all the data is in the internal memory, I don't want that. Also how can I make the camera to save pictures to the SD Card ? I'm running BDITA 4.4.4 Rom v2.2.

Don't think about it. This change is now full and final. Its going to be a part of future android versions. You can copy/move data. So do it.
There are some methods through them you will be able to use this "apps 2 sd" function but they have some risks. You can brick your MMC or you can hard brick your mobile. So i suggest you to live with this new system.

How do I move my apps from the SD card BACK to the phone's memory?

So I've never done App2SD stuff before.
1. Is it "permanent?" Can I move it back to my phone if I want to?
2. If I upgrade to a larger card (32GB in the future), can I just copy the app files over to the new card after it is partitioned? Or do I need to do another type of backup somehow, like Titanium?
EDIT: 3. If I flash a new ROM- will it know that my apps are on the sd card?
tia for any answers.

[Q] Upgrading SD Card without loosing existing data and settings

Wenn you have a Windows Phone 7 on HD2 working, but you need more space, is it possible to upgrade to a bigger SD-card without loosing your data?
Can you format the new SD-card and copy over all files from the old card to the new card e.g.?
Or do you really have to start from scratch again?

Read THIS thread. You just would not be copying over any android files unless you are going to dual boot.

I think you missunderstood me, it's not about Android. It is not about creating a dual boot HD2 with Windows Phone 7 on NAND and Android on the SD card.
Think about currently having a HD2 with Windows Phone 7 installed and an SD card inserted of 2 GB. Then you realize your SD card gets too small because of installed applications and created alot of video's and pictures. Now you want to use a bigger SD card, a 16 GB e.g., how to "upgrade" to a bigger SD card?
Normally you have to start all over again, you loose all your installed applications and program settings wenn you insert a new SD card, because you have to do a hard-reset for what I have read.
But it is also possible to upgrade to a bigger SD card without loosing your data?

there is no way to save data yet. it has been voiced to MS for the ability to do this with zune or cloud services but nothing yet. you can get to your pictures and videos on the phone by using your pc. THIS tells you how to do that. you can then add them back on the phone without syncing with zune.
i think copying over the whole partition via easeus partition master while the device is in magldr will resolve your problem. you'll need to expand d partition i guess

From what i'm reading is what he's trying to say is No, My guess is you have to reinstall wp7 on your hd2 with the new sd card in there. Try that buddy.

how to make the external micro sd card primary for everything

hey guys
is there a way to make the external micro SD card primary, and make everything download to it with out having to move apps to it manually...?
can understand why they would sell a tablet without a decent amount of memory...
I don't know how to move already installed apps to SD, but I think I have a solution for future installations of apps.
I have a special version of SpareParts that has an app2sd option and you can set that to external. Maybe this option is already working and you actually don't need SpareParts, don't know for sure.
WARNING: Some apps have widgets/persistent notification process or have a background process running. These apps should NOT be on external storage (microSD card)!
You will need to go thru each app and decide for yourself if it can be on your SD card!

[Q] ICS moving apps to extern sd card, bug of future

I flashed with Odin Mobile Icecream, still rooted now and no issues at all
except: when i wanted to move apps to the extern SD card with app2sd i get the error : "INSTALL_FAILED_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE"
the external Sd card is recognized
is there a fix for it ?
is it a 'bug or a feature' ? Same problem as with Honeycomb ?
Strange thing is that making pictures by the camera the pictures are saved on the external Sd card without any problem. So the Sdcard is working and oke

Modern Android devices are manufactured with a lot more memory than the days of Eclair, Froyo and Gingerbread. So the newer versions don't need the workaround of moving apps to external storage. As a result, apps run faster and can't be harmed by removing the card.
At least the ICS release allows us to move data freely. I understand that Jelly Bean will start requiring app permissions to access the external storage for data.

App To SD

The new update gives functionality of transferring apps to sd card but when I transfer an app to SD it remains in internal memory and there is no change to my external memory card. Can anyone tell me where does it exactly go and what actually happens when i move my app to sd??

Well app to sd card option moves the apk u installed in the SD card but it keeps the data in internal memory only.. so incase u take the memory card out u cannot run the application and its done this way so that u can free up some space in ur internal memory for other use etc
What is bigger, the APK or data?
u can use terminal or folder mount to link that data in external sdcard to phones memory! so phone thinks its on phones but its on sd! btw u may experiance lag or slow loading and stuff! havent tryed my self i got no space problem on 8gb version i just bought it im currently downloading more games! like rapid gt and others
also try to save some space whit moving everything to sd expect game data!

Most of the time its data that is big
example Need for speed is abt 13 mb app size and the data we need to download is abt 600 mb and after its extracted its abt 1.6 gb
I already use pro version of Folder mount but i just had a doubt that samsung is providing the old method of moving apps to sd again but still i see no diff in my internal storage as i have already moved many internal apps to sd using the new function but still i see my ext sd is empty and the apk remains in int memory only ......
