Guys, it's good news here. The 5.1 OTA has been captured by one of the guys on FB. He specially rooted his phone just to capture the OTA for us, so great thanks to him. His name is Saurabh Das.
Here's the link to the final 5.1 OTA from Motorola: http://www.mediafire.com/download/m....36.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03.zip (209MB)
Note: This update file will only work if you are on the second soak test update which has the size of 13MB.
Here are the links to all the soak test updates from Motorola:
Soak 1: http://www.mediafire.com/download/f....32.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03.zip (341MB)
Soak 2: http://www.mediafire.com/download/e....36.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03.zip (13MB)
Soak 3: NOT NEEDED.
How to update:
1. You have to make sure you are on the second soak test update 5.0.2 having system version 22.21.36 from Motorola (13MB).
2. If you are not on system version 22.21.36, then do the following:
Flash stock ROM Kitkat 4.4.4. If you don't have it, download from here: https://mega.co.nz/#!SUZA3AbR!P_qdV24-ZpqSwKhCPjifBcd7en7Y7AkBZpRApb2loHs
Follow this guide to flash 4.4.4 on your Moto E: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/development/downgrade-5-0-x-to-4-4-4-stock-firmware-t3031073
Once you're on 4.4.4, boot into the system. Now place the Soak 1 file (341MB) in the root of the SD card, go to Settings>About phone>System Updates. Your system will detect the update. Install it.
Now you'll be on system version 22.21.32. Now put the Soak 2 file (13MB) in the root of the SD card, go to Settings>About phone>System Updates. Your system will detect the update. Install it again.
Now you'll finally be on the system version 22.21.36.
3. Now download the 5.1 OTA (209MB) and rename it to:
Code:
Blur_Version.23.21.34.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03
...and place it in the root of the SD card.
4. Go to system->about phone->system updates. Your system will detect the update. Install it. Let it finish. You're done!
Congrats :highfive:
Thanks
This upgrade to xt1021 been tested or xt1022?
What about those who already installed the 7 MB update???
This is for XT1022 only.
For those who updated to 7MB either wait for update from motorola or flash 4.4.4-> 5.0.2 (both 341mb and 13mb) and then apply this 209mb update.
It has been confirmed that the capturer has successfully updated to 5.1 system version 23.21.34.

in 13mb update
Please put clear instructions . whether to flash thru custom recovery or by going thru ota 5.0.2 and put the file of 208mb in internal or extsdcard and check for ota updates ?
YOU NEED TO BE ON UNMODIFIED AND VERY MUCH ORIGINAL STOCK 5.0.2 LOLLIOP UPDATE OF THE SIZE 13MB (SECOND SOAK TEST). THIS MEANS YOU HAVE TO FLASH STOCK 4.4.4, THEN UPDATE IT TO FIRST SOAK TEST (341MB), THEN AGAIN UPDATE IT TO SECOND SOAK TEST (13MB). AT THIS POINT, YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK FOR UPDATES VIA ABOUT PHONE->SYSTEM UPDATES, IF YOU GET A NOTIFICATION FOR 5.1, THEN ENJOY OTHERWISE YOU CAN USE THE FILE UPLOADED ON MEDIAFIRE HAVING THE SIZE 209MB AND PUT IN ON THE SD CARD AND CHECK FOR UPDATES MANUALLY LIKE YOU DID BEFORE. IF IT DOESN'T DETECT, THE FILE NAME ACTUALLY NEEDS TO BE MODIFIED TO PROBABLY 23.21.34 WHERE IT SAYS 22....SOMETHING. TRY AFTER THAT. OR ROOT UR PHONE AND PUT THE 209MB FILE IN /CACHE/ WITHOUT RENAMING AND CHECK FOR UPDATES. IF NOTHING WORKS, I'M SORRY, I don't REALLY KNOW WHAT THE FILENAME NEEDS TO BE. BTW, THE CAPTURER successfully UPDATED TO 5.1. WE BOTH STAYED AWAKE THE WHOLE NIGHT FOR THIS PURPOSE AND HE SAYS 5.1 IS REALLY SMOOTH.
SORRY FOR ALL CAPS.
If your phone doesnt detect the update, rename it to .38. It worked for me

Someone who is on 5.1 has to make a system backup on twrp and upload it. Thats the best way for making flashable zip
I think it does not work in TWRP(Custom recovery)
Stayed awake whole night and I'm more confused than ever. Don't know if I should flash KitKat or wait for update for 7 MB version or keep trying renaming it different ways.

Clarification
Hi guys, Im saurabh who uploaded the 5.1 ota.
Well, I never used the last 7mb incremental soak test that few people used. Before lollipop soak test, I was running the the kitkat 4.4.4.
So just like others, I used the first captured 350 mb approx soak test and copied it to external sd and got the lolipop soak test by checking for update. But as we all know , it had few issues , so thankfully some guy uploaded 13 mb incremental file too. I again installed it by copying to sd card and checking for update.
Meanwhile, few people got 7 mb update, but I was so annoyed by the 5.0.2 performance that I never bothered to find out about it. On 14th june, I got picked for Motorola Feedback Network. Anyhow, being bugged by the poor performance of stock soak test 5.0.2 I decided to unlock bootloader and root my device. Incidentally , after unlocking bootloader my mobile factory retested as expected. After booting I got OTA prompt of 5.1 being available . Now , rather than installing I thought of capturing it, so after downloading the 209 mb file I rooted it and captured the ota. (Again I had to go through the painful steps of going back to kitkat 4.4.4 to get back stock recovery, but Nilakanto, OP, helped me with all the correct files so thanks a lot to him). So, all in all, I am running lollipop 5.1 now.
Things needed :
First soak test of 350 mb file
Second soak test of 13 mb.
I never installed the 7mb soak test that was pushed later.
Stock recovery
Locked or unlocked bootloader does not affect it as you all know.
Ofcourse, no root
You may have to rename the file as one user suggested.
Good luck guys.:good:
EDIT : Many users are also getting OTA prompt for 5.1. So , I think everyone running soak tests shall get it sooner or later.
Some screenshots
Here are a few screenshots and available memory after installing 5.1. I did not had any extra app installed.

Yea, i'll stick with a custom ROM instead of this oficial update (that [email protected]!)
They are so late that i'm sure SaberMod, BlissPop, etc are better optimized.
Has anyone confirmed this to work on the XT1039? I assume it wouldn't be possible due to different LTE bands?
EDIT: Comparing the bands, it seems like there's little to no difference between the XT1040 and the XT1039, I assume like the Falcon, we wouldn't be able to restore to an older firmware via fastboot if we flashed this
Congrats motorola, it's been just 6 damn months.

Hello , i make all steps , but when i flash ota 5.1 with custom recovery i get error , and installation aborted
help please
Hello,
I took a captured OTA of a 5.1 Lollipop ROM and when I launch the update process, I also get an error, it says that the fingerprint is not the version expected. But I have the KXB21.14-L1.56 as mentioned in the error message.
But I have an other question, why flash the 4.4.3 instead of directly the 4.4.4 version of the ROM ?
Thank you.
Hello again,
Yesterday I could update my XT1039 to Lollipop 5.1 via OTA on a fresh install of a 4.4.4 KitKat version. I just had to go in Google Play and to update the Motorola update service.
After the update, I could see that the build number of the update was LPB23.13-17 and the System Version is 23.21.17, different from the 21.11.56 of the captured OTA given here, which gave me the error.
I hope this helps.
Cheers!

Which KitKat have you installed? I tried doing the same (using Br retail) but didn't worked, it says there is not update.
As posted here: https://community.republicwireless.com/blogs/republic/2015/11/23/device-mr-progress-update-112315, it appears that RW is going to be rolling out Lollipop this week, starting Monday and finishing Wednesday.
I plan on using Sunshine before the update, as TowelPieRoot likely won't be compatible. At the very least, unlocking the bootloader will allow downgrading back to KitKat if Lollipop has some serious issues.
Sadly, the update as of December 8th says the update's been delayed AGAIN-- the soak test starts January 11th, the general roll out begins January 18th.

Has anybody been able to capture the RW 5.1 OTA?
I did something stupid with my phone after updating to 5.1, then had to downgrade to 4.4.4 (I have an unlocked boot loader), but parts of it will not downgrade.
Now the motorola update thinks I am already on 5.1 and will not download the 5.1 OTA again.

OTA update zip
Does anyone else have the OTA update zip? Maybe final release? I know you said it's the same file, but maybe it's slightly different? Because it won't work for me. BUT I was able to just take and install the EMR update. So I don't know why Motorola update won't give me 5.1 too? Is it something with the phone reporting Sprint keys instead of Republic Wireless keys, like mentioned in the Reddit post? Or they think I have it already? I just get an "aborted" message. I have no system mods and I went back to stock recovery. It worked for the EMR update, so I can't figure out the problem. Any ideas? If hoping to not have to factory reset or install 5.1 from scratch (if it's available). Thanks!

Like I said, the soak test OTA is the *exact* same file as the final update. They wouldn't make changes to the build that got soaked or they'd have to redo the entire certification process again. That said, your issue is probably the Sprint keys issue. I know you don't want to do a factory reset, but you'll probably need to flash the RW 5.1 .sbf factory image to get yourself on the new update with everything sorted out.
The sbf file is here: http://www.filefactory.com/file/27kl2ef9ngk7/XT1049_GHOST_REPW_5.1_LPA23.12-39-R-15_cid6_CFC.xml.zip

Had my A2017G for a few months, but still stuck on v1.0.0b06 with no available OTA updates.
Will I manually have to flash it to a android 7 version then will I be able to receive OTA?
Any guidance is much appreciated.
It really depends on where your device is from. That build may very well be the most up-to-date build released. Check the ZTE support site to be sure.
If you want to go to nougat right away, I'd suggest manually installing the German update zip / installing the leaked 7.1.1 B01 zip floating around. Afterwards, you'll receive the OTA prompt for the 7.1.1 B02 build.

I forgot if it's required. But no harm in doing the updates incrementally. The German support page has the B10 update, as well as the 7.0 update. Then the 7.1.1 B01 leak can be found around here. These of course are all for the A2017G variant.
If you intend to unlock your bootloader, I'd suggest doing so before upgrading to nougat.

First: Check that you didn't put the zip with the buncha numbers. If you open the zip you should find an update.zip and a pdf or something, and you have to use the update.zip inside. NOT directly the one with the numbers!
Second: Your phone probably won't find the file on the OTG, if so just copy the file from the OTG to the root of the internal storage
Ah....
I unzipped it.....
Okay so still no joy, neither of the files would update

You almost brick the phone. Tell me a couple of things:
-What's the model? Turn it around and look below the Dolby Atmos symbol, it should be etched there. Either A2017 or G or U.
-I see that your software is of the A2017G. You probably have an A2017.
-What's the version that you downloaded? If it is for another version you can lose the IMEIs.
I have a similar issue. I have an A2017G. I had LOS on and am trying to go back to stock. I can get MM B10 or B11 to load, but N B01 won't flash within Android and if I force it from within recovery, the phone won't boot. anyone any smart ideas?

Because it may have bugs and also night light isn't enabled yet!
From the updater script, looks like you'll need OPN27.74/28 to flash this soak test OTA, and will bring your device up to OPN27.76-12-2/4
Code:
Package expects build thumbprint of 8.0.0/OPN27.76-12-2/4:user/release-keys or 8.0.0/OPN27.74/28:user/release-keys
Having a quick look through the updater script, looks like it'll check and update your boot (kernel), modem, OEM, system and GPT/bootloader partitions. I see references to Google Widevine in the modem images too. At least the error messages seem to be a little more helpful.
You can find the updater script at the following path: OreoSoak2.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\ or as an attachment.
As always, it's up to you if you want to flash these soak tests, bear in mind there may be bugs and unless you get the other soak test OTA updates, you may not be able to update back to the official OTA path. That is, unless you can find the stock Oreo fastboot ROM or try to downgrade. Or you could just wait for the official Oreo OTA to come out....
That's soak 3 buddy.
and the soak 2?
Possible to flash over SOAK 1 with bootloader locked?

No you need the second one as well. You must install them in order that is why it is never smart to install a soak test unless you are in the test

Can we install it from 7.1.1?

If you've got the December 2017 7.1.1 update on your device, completely stock, you may be able to install these soak tests. However, as xantanion has pointed out, there appears to be at least one soak test OTA missing. Thus, you may be able to flash the first soak test OTA, then you may not be able to flash the soak test in this thread as you're not on the expected build for this OTA (i.e. you may be missing the inter-linking builds as again pointed out by xantanion). OTA updates check the build you have on your device before flashing, as I mentioned in the above post - this OTA requires OPN27.76-12-2 or OPN27.74 - if you don't have either, you may not be able to flash this OTA.
Without access to those possibly missing builds, you'd be stuck on an OTA build, and unless you find the Oreo fastboot stock ROM (which isn't out yet) or downgrading back to 7.1.1 (possibly risky, requires an unlocked bootloader), you likely won't be able to progress (no OTA updates) or not be able to flash the non-soak OTA builds. You'll only get these soak test OTA builds if you're part of the soak test program or someone can leak them.
You do not have to flash these soak test builds, you can always wait for the official OTA to arrive, unless you're willing to put up with the possible bugs in the firmware and the possibility that your device may not receive OTA updates.
EDIT - looks like some users may be having some luck with this OTA build?

They're still going to have issues when it comes to updating to the full one even with being able to install it now via sideloading
Only two soak test are released over December security patch in India and they both are captured and shared on forum's
So when can we expect the actual update?

I imagine it really is Motorola's decision, whenever they're happy with the build from internal testing and from the soak tester reports, and whether there are any major/show-stopping bugs still present or introduced. Minor bugs, depending on if they've been reported, may be fixed prior to the final OTA, or scheduled to be fixed in the post Oreo release if they're more troublesome to fix or troubleshoot. The soak test OTA may become the final OTA that's released to the general update channel, or there may be further OTA patches, which of course will push back the release date. The last thing you want is to introduce the Oreo update and then pull it, as happened with the Samsung Galaxy S8 devices.
So, it's anyone's guess when the release date will be, and why OEMs likely don't give hard deadlines, despite what the PR news release that's been on Ausdroid and other platforms suggests. At least you're getting a soak test - Moto G4 Plus/G5/G5S devices haven't seen one yet!
Please share the new apps.. dialer, camera, contacts

I agree, you guys should ve happy for getting soal tests.. i have both G5+ and G5s+ and no soak tests.. we'll get oreo in may..
Pliss

He meant a link to download the new apps without installing the soak test

Why moto dorsn't remove the buggy carrier name at the bottom lf the quick settings? With oreo we got that information at the top, no need to have it twice
