I recently Rooted my i9505 stock 5.0.1 using CF auto root and it wetnt out pretty good. then i was going through the play store to find root only apps when i came to find Texdroider DPI app to change the dpi and then i installed it. it worked okay but then i tried it again and when i restarted the phone, it was stuck on boot animation. and i think its soft bricked i dont know what to do:crying:
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
The DPI change is made by editing the build.prop file. The simplest way to fix this is simply to reinstall your stock ROM using Odin, and to NOT use the DPI changing app.

Hi
I have an SM-N900.
Recently I changed a few stuff in the UI including the Settings menu. I was using the Settings menu from S5 by replacing the apk. Today I thought of reverting this. This is what I did :
1) Changed the existing apk to SecSettings.apk_S5 (as a backup)
2) And i changed the backup I had (SecSettings.apk.bak) to SecSettings.apk
Now, I assumed the permissions and all would be fine as it was being used earlier. I don't know if its the permissions that is causing the problem, but, after I rebooted the phone after making the above changes, my phone won't boot up. It is stuck at the Samsung logo...
What do i do ? Is there some way of flashing the settings apk (if i find the correct one) as a zip file from CWM ? or should i just flash a stock firmware ?
UPDATE :
I used Aroma file browser to revert these changes (that is go back to s5 settings) and the phone came up finally !!! Now the questions is, how do i go back to my stock settings ?
Hi guys,
I had installed TWRP recovery and I pressed fix file permissions and when I rebooted it messed up my phone, deleting Google Now Launcher, and I cant open playstore anymore, I tried flashing the stock android 5.0.1 recovery again but that didn't work, should I flash android 5.0.1 again but without the ''-w'' parameter?
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I lost more apps like Whatsapp, Chrome is also gone why did I press that button for gods sake....

Yeah, don't use fix permissions anymore. Flash the 5.0.1 system.img with fastboot.

I tried, I also flashed the full Android 5.0.1 image, nothing worked... Ofcourse without the -w parameter to not wipe my data.
I am so desperate, there is also a problem, my Google account is also gone which is why I cant access Play Store.
I found this out by using logcat to see what happens when I click on the app.
EDIT: I think I fixed it sort of, I installed Google Play Services from an apk and then I could open Play Store again and login to my google account. now only a few widgets are gone but that can be fixed.
Folks,
I have used wanam exposed and changed few of my settings in my camera, dialer, browser, message and gallery. However, over constant apply of many settings, these apps become so buggy.
I have searched all over xda for restoring to stock from wanam exposed but all suggested to flash a stock rom. However, i flash the stock rom as my first option and would like to replace those apps with stock one to back to normal.
i am using SAMSUNG stock rom 4.4.2 and rooted with chainfire method. Completely stock without any changes.
Attaching the browser where the icon and layout are disordered and camera app - where the settings options are not available.
can you please share me the TouchWiz Camera/Dialer/Message/Browser/Gallery apks for me to restore to guys? Kindly share me please.
Did you uninstall Xposed and all the mods you used? If not, do so and reboot. The last time I used Xposed, after uninstalling it and rebooting the S4 returned to normal. However, if there is no change, you'll most likely have to do a factory reset in recovery. You'll lose all data, but you should have a clean slate afterward.

Yes.. Uninstalled and rebooted. Changes are not reverted to stock. Yes, factory reset is last option. Can you share me the apks if you are using kitkat rom?

I'm on Android 5.x but the 4.4.2 apps won't help you here. Xposed by design is, if I recall correctly, not supposed to touch the app files when making changes, so something else is causing this. Flashing your stock ROM via Odin should resolve this.
Can anybody share me the stock touchwiz 4.4.2 stock browser, dialer, sms, gallery. Apks please..

Hello all!
I am very very... very new to rooting so please bear with me. So basically I used KingRoot for an easy rooting process and then went and used an app that gets rid of KingRoot in favor of Super SU (App was called Super SU Me I think, on Play Store).
So one of the first things I did was download the Jrummy font changing app. I found a font I liked and I was prompted to make a backup of my current fonts and to have a nandroid backup as well in case. So I thought, being the noob that I was and still am that I wouldn't need to do such a thing so I just backed up my fonts thinking "good enough". I then reboot my S4 and it gets stuck on the AT&T logo (so a soft brick right?). So, I freak out cause I'm a noob and I din't expect a font change to soft brick my S4. Luckily before rooting I backed up photos and music but anyways I ended up booting into recovery mode and wiping data and the partition cache.
This ended up working (can't remember if it was multiple tries) and I got back to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop but was greeted with an "Unfortunately, Samsung Keyboard has stopped working." I thought this must be because of the font change so I maneuver to settings (with the error for the keyboard popping up every time I close it by tapping "OK") and change the default keyboard to Swype and that stopped the error from popping up. I then go to change the font and it says "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped working." or something like that and kicks me out of settings. So somewhere down the line I restart my phone and the process keeps repeating so I have to access my phone by factory resetting it in recovery mode and clearing the partition cache or whatever and then I can use android but the keyboard error keeps popping up every time.
I guess you could say I'm freaking out and I definitely guess you can say I'm a total noob at this.
BTW: I have no recoveries or anything so basically stuck with what I have. Also I tried a program called "_Hovatek__Auto_Font_Unbricker_V1.0 " and that didn't work even when I got the green text running in the program or whatever.
Please help! This is really bad I know!

Can you do that with android 5.0.1? I don't know if I can downgrade in order to restore to stock.

The last full firmware release for AT&T S4 was NB1. After that, there is only incremental updates (OTA) to lollipop. There is no full firmware release for android 5.0.1. As such if we screwed something up, we all have to go back to NB1 and start from there.
So please follow the guide mentioned in the previous post.
Wow! I can't believe that solved it! I had tried other solutions that I saw using Odin (kind of a mix mash of all the stuff I read) but that guide takes the cake! Seriously the best solution, thank you for the responses!
I was stupid and uninstalled Swiftkey on my rooted XC without installing another keyboard app as system app and now I'm stuck at the password inquiry to decrypt the device.
Do I have to flash the whole ROM and TWPR again or is there a faster way to get it working again?
Thanks a lot in advance
You can flash only swift key. Just search for Xperia+Keyboard+7.3.A.0.28
