PIT file for 16GB i9505? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Would really like to reduce my system partition from 2.5GB to 1.2GB, cache from 2GB to 1GB and remove the 500MB preload altogether. Is there a PIT file anywhere that covers this or how can I create it myself?
Thanks

Not possible.

Why?

Because you can only flash signed .pit files. Thus only Samsung can create them.

No worries. I did suspect that, hence I threw S4 in there to confirm. I9505 model as per thread title. I used to do it with no problems on my old S2.

How To Fix The E: Can't mount /dev/block/stl10 (invalid Argument) Error

I personally have semi-bricked my phone (SGS) a considerable amount of times and each time i got this message E: Can't mount /dev/block/stl10 (invalid Argument) Error. Then i got very frustrated and found a fix. So here is how I fixed it. This might work on the Original Galaxy tab
Things you are going to need:
1. Odin (any version) maybe Heimdall haven't tested yet
2. dbdata.rfs.tar (included in post)
3. semi-bricked phone
Flash with repartition off i repeat do not flash with it on. sometimes works with repartition.also pit is not needed put file in pda in odin
After you are finished rejoice and tell me how happy you are in the comments and how you found my thread
P.s if i helped don't forget to donate so i can buy pizza. and also hit the thank's button and rate this thread for me

If you remove all these offending fonts, big size and colour, your topic could draw some interest...
Anyone who wants to go back to a Stock Rom from a modded 2.2.1 Rom needs to first flash a Stock 2.1 Rom. Check my ConvergeROM thread for instructions.

good job, much better now
i'm sure this will help a lot of people that bricked their phone with that error
good info, already had that problem but i solved in a more timed way, your way is faster
I had the same problem once also. I ended up flashing jpu package from samfirmware with repartition ect. I was then able to flash back to my stock firmware, jl2. Good to know there are other methods in case of another disaster.

Hey man I tried this and now the phone doesn't turn on. Just sits there with a black screen. No response to 3-button combo either. Any ideas?
Samsung SCH-1500 (fascinate) running EB01 Froyo with SC 2.8.
When I try to flash using ODIN, it gives me:
Can't open the specified file. (Line: 1455)
it failed. How do I fix this? I really need to know, thanks
By the way, both SCH-1500 and the internation version have the same way of storing files, so it doesnt matter im on fascinate
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953339
Soft-bricked may be the correct term, either way I would always recommend flashing with a full/low level rom that contains csc, pda, modem + repartion with PIT.

Managed to fix it by flashing JPU. Do NOT tick repartition while flashing dbdata.rfs. that's what got me into this issue. Also, .pit is not needed.

you need a clockwork mod partition of 445 mb with a 5 mb partition size. if you download the handy program called hd2 toolkit the process is very easy. enjoy

Thanks for the clarification!
basically its
5meg boot partition for the boot files
445meg for the main rom files
5meg cache although this number can vary and some roms require a 44meg cache partition

I forget exactly what the bootloader file was called but your zipped rom should contain boot.img and a few folders like system, bla bla bla. To make sure, be sure that in your updater script, contains the correct mounting points/partition points so the zip rom can flash the stuff into the right areas. As long none of those mounting/partition stuff isn't leading to the bootloader. I would ask an Dev regarding those mounting points. I assume you ran this through a kitchen correct?

M,
create an account at androidfilehost and apply for developer status so you
can upload there, or upload it to google drive or mega. I'd need to see what it
is you are actually working on. @sub77 makes a good point, if you won't
test out your own work then why get into it? You would be well served, as emoboy
does a lousy job of getting across, to suspend further question and do more

dumb questions, insightful remarks, astute observations, bad spelling, and even
worse language in some situations ! xD

I would imagine because the filesize is too big, XDA has filesize limits for different file types, and I can't imagine an entire rom zip being smaller than the cut-off. Moonbutt74 is right (protip, he always is and even on the rare occasions he isn't he's still much cleverer than you or me), upload it to android file host (you do have to request developer status, but they should approve it within like an hour or two max iirc) or google drive if you're really too impatient to wait for android file host

Assuming you've already made an account and are logged into it, there is a drop-down menu on the upper right-hand corner of the page that should say, "Hey, <yourusername>" Click it and select settings. You need dev status for android file host, not google drive. When making posts use the Insert Link button to link to your upload links. Any file uploaded to your google drive that you allowed to be shared with the public should have its own URL. Any file you upload to android file host will definitely be given its own url. You can copy/paste that url into Insert Link into your post/thread

Have you done a backup for TWRP and did you notice?

Is this a complete image of the phone's base setup so when things go south we can use this file to go back to? Or is it something else??

I would think that big image file would be the image used for a factory reset with all the program, system file and such so they can just reset it quick and easy. And if that is the case, wouldn't that be what is needed by the devs?

I'm pretty surprised that such an important file isn't already widely available. I expected easy unlocking/rooting and custom ROMs at this point. Has this phone not been available for a while now in the US? What's holding everything back?
Anyway, if you could somehow make that file available again I'm sure I wouldn't be the only grateful one.

I do have the file. However my dropbox cancelled my public shares due to excessive traffic.

Any other place you can upload it to? It might be the only way for the bootloader unlocked group to get future updates (if it was captured without b20_boot).
