Hey all I don't have an LG G4 but I have a G3 which just got a security update yesterday (trying to block root) which I rooted. I'm thinking that the two phones are pretty similar so it is worth a shot to try the same method on both. Is anyone willing to try my root script on their G4. Worst case scenario it doesn't work. But it won't brick anything. It is based on the LG one click root tool. If anyone is interested you can check out my post in the Sprint LG G3 forum here on xda. link
Thanks for the help.

Did you put your phone in download mode manually? It takes a minute after you enter download mode. Also if you enable daig mode in the dialer ##DIAG# or ##3424# it should automatically put you into download mode when running the script however you may need your SPC/MSL to enable diag mode.
Yeah, exactly as the script told me to. Hold the power button up and plug the usb cable in. Download screen pops up with a progress bar and nothing, all the while the command prompt says waiting (for the download to begin I assume) I left it like that for appx. five minutes so I popped the battery back out. I tried three times and
always the same result. Should I leave it longer?

No sounds like you did it correctly. You may have to unplug the device once it enters download mode and plug it back in.
Did you check device manager to make sure that your phone is detected and what com port it is on?
If you see your phone in device manager try opening cmd and navigating to the directory where LG Root Script.bat is and run the following replacing the # with your com port number.
Code:
Send_Command.exe \\.\COM#
If it works it should show a # prompt. If that works then we should be able to root it. It is just a matter of playing with what commands we can and cannot run in download mode. When you are done you can type
Code:
LEAVE
and your phone will reboot.
As I mentioned earlier I don't have a G4 so things might be a bit different but not that much.
Its listed under portable devices.....not sure how to figure out the port thing though.
---------- Post added at 11:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:12 AM ----------
Ok, my COM ports are 0004 or 0003 how do I enter the text into the command prompt? I copied and pasted the send command and after I put in lets say 0004 it will throw back "special command: Enter, Leave" and it sends me back to c:\ If you can walk me through this final step, we may get this.

It should be listed under "Ports (COM & LPT)" If it isn't then your computer isn't detecting your phone correctly hence it getting stuck in download mode and not rooting.
OK just got your updated post. Use COM4 in the command not COM0004
Should look like
Code:
Send_Command.exe \\.\COM4
If that works do a ctrl+C to kill the command and run the following.
Code:
Send_Command.exe \\.\COM4 < installRoot
You should see about 4 or 5 hashs (#####) and then just wait about a minute or two, it will say a bunch of things and then tell you to reboot.
I also added enter after the COM#0004 then it threw up the "Enter/leave" as well as "USAGE: SEND_COMMAND.EXE [PORT]"

get rid of the # and the 0's should look like this
Code:
Send_Command.exe \\.\COM4 < installRoot
This is a bit too advanced for me. I'm running windows 10 and I'm spinning my wheels here because there are no ports listed in my device manager. I keep copying and pasting but it does nothing. I'm Not sure what to do now. Maybe someone else with a bit more experience can help.

Windows 10 DOES NOT recognize LG devices properly in DL mode. I was just restoring a G2 to stock with LG Flash tool, it wouldn't recognize properly in 10. Went to 8 and worked beautifully. =

And that comes after everything, fastboot or download mode or white screen. Windows 7 cant recognise it, I installed drivers before connecting G2 but under SM buss controller there is nothing recognized.
I would try to going back to stock but I dont know how and I am afraid that that will be hard without windows recognizing G2. Sry my english is not so great. I am from Croatia. Thanks for very fast response.

I tried few way to go back to stock but nothing works. G2 is recognized like Android phone but like USB Modem Phone ADB so I am stuck. I am not even sure that battery is charging and I could end up with paper weight soon.
I get in download mod for like half of the second and then Fastboot mod started takes over. Two big problems no download mod and G2 in windows 7 64. Hard reset doesn't work neither, Fastboot takes over again. How stupid i was not to look what file is downloading, first is the newest I thought in my stupid head.

I need some serious help guys. Phone is stuck at boot logo and wont turn on. IT wont enter recovery mode. it wont hard reset. It wont enter download mode.
The phone was completely stock originally. So i rooted using towelroot and ran the 'AutoREC' program. That did its thing and restarted and got stuck in fastboot mode. couldnt get out of it. Eventually managed to reflash all the original stock ROM partitions and it started to boot again... only to get stuck at the LG logo. I need some serious help.
PC wont detect the phone at all and its as if there is no OS on the phone. I have the D802 variant 32gb.

Push PWR + Vol Down till you see the LG Logo then release and press both again
Push PWR + Vol Down till you see the LG logo then release and press and hold the volume up and volume down buttons until reset screen appears.

You may want to check your internal hardware to be sure it's marked as a D802. Typically the feint white stamp in the lower center/left of the phone with rear cover removed is the true model number. It's also stamped on the board and on the ribbon cables going up eithe side. Your device is showing the signs of a false d802 which has become sadly common in recent months.
If it's legit d802 then flash aboot, boot, laf and power it off.
Then hold voume up and connect to pc while still holding volume up.
Make sure you have the drivers installed, fire up lg mobile support tool or the lg flash tool 2014 (you need your kdz file now - find it using your imei and lg-firmware site)
Okay so I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/lg-g2-unbrickable-fix-real-hard-brick-t2904404 to get it to come up as a device in Windows and Linux. I already have a Linux installed and I'm going to try today. I'll update with a guide for you only if you need it and if I succeed. I just need to remind you. You CANNOT mess up on the second guide... Well as far I can tell. But if the first guides label is actually true then maybe I'm wrong.
ok so ive ordered some tools to open up the phone and check the internals. Hopefully its a legit G2. Meanwhile every single possible combination of the power and volume keys does absolutely nothing. If all else fails ill try shorting the capacitors as ive seen on a guide from here and hopefully that will be the end of it. Thanks for all the input guys. Ill keep you posted!

Plug it into a windows machine, open device manager and look for Qualcomm qhsusb_bulk. If you get that, you're already in bulk and don't need to worry about shorting capacitors. If it's not being recognized in any way, you may be forced into that as a last resort.

All you really need to open it up is a guitar pick. It pries apart make sure you take the sim card out. After that it's going to take a little swipe around the edge and it'll pop open no problem.

so ive poped the phone open and guess what... its not a D802.. its a D800.. the at&t version... wtf.. no wonder i bricked it. gonna see if i can use the unbrickable method
did you checked the IMEI?
nope its says on the speaker grille after you remove the back cover. "D800"
how is that possible? did phone information apps showed your device as 802 aswell? did kernel info and phone info in system settings lied too?
Hello All,
i am tired and done everything to fix my lg g2 download mode. i've done all adb and fastboot methods but when i write "fastboot erase recovery" it stucks and nothing happening. In my device manager Android ADB Interface driver installed but when type in cmd "adb devices" its not listed. im using windows 7 and im done everything.... if anywhere im doing something wrong plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz tell me or guide how to fix my lg g2 d802 fastboot issue...
in fastboot it showing me
1400 - fastboot mode started
1530 - reset -
1540 - portchange -
1800 - fastboot: processing commands
i will be really thankfull for your guidance...
Thank u jessica but still stuck
Thank you miss jesica for response.
I tried that adb drivers that u mention in link but same issue facing device not listed when i type adb drivers.
There are no official lollipop kdz to install in Lg g2 D802, so is that necessary to download that drivers one u mention in link?
When 1st time i face this problem, device manager showing me only android (no qhusb_xxx or qualcome whatever name it is) only showing android in unknow device.
Then i install lge adb interface driver from lg universal drivers from their extracted folder then lg g2 start giving fastboot and process commands in smartphone but when i try erasing recovery and laf its stuck or nothings happening.
And how do I disabled driver enforcement?
Thank You
And also there no yellow mark or any unk device.
Jessooca said:
A few questions, in device manager what does it show with your device? any yellow question marks in device manager?
Did you install fastboot and adb? Did you make sure any other drivers were uninstalled first? Including your LG driver if you have the LG PC suit software installed, remove it.
-- Typically the fast way to fix this issue is to remove all the drivers and reboot your computer, definitely reboot the computer afterwards.
Keep your phone disconnected from your computer during the following:
Then install this: ADB&Fastboot installer
Again, make sure you right click and run as administrator and Select Y(es) for all.
It has the newest driver for Android 5.0+ After you install it, install the latest driver from lg here:
Restart your computer, plug in your device and let it install any drivers.
Make sure you've enabled USB debugging on your phone. Power off your phone, reboot into recovery and plug it into your computer, if any drivers install, allow them to do so.
Go ahead now with what you were going to do, IF you still have problems let me know.
-Have you disabled driver enforcement from Windows? You may want to do that so youll never have problems with that doing anything on any device.

--I can get whatever LG tot/kdz is needed to fully return you to stock which will give you the recovery back etc....
What are you trying to do exactly, return your device to stock? is it just stock recovery that's your issue?
How are you running the adb command exactly? right click run as administrator on "command prompt"?
Download this and extract it

As for the drivers and everything I said to install, always install the latest drivers etc, so I would install the ones I suggested and uninstall yours first. Mine is adb and the fastboot drivers, so install the one I suggested and be sure to restart your computer after and try the adb list command again
From device manager uninstall the device, it should give you the option (a checkmark box) to delete the driver as well, do this then refresh device manager. Now right click your phone in device manager, select update driver software, Select "Browse my computer option", then select "browse" and find the driver you just downloaded. Install that and you should be good to go!

---Do the following steps exactly as follows, this should work.
Lets start over, sorry. I am going to simplify this for you.
Unplug your phone. Fully Power off your phone {just because the screen is dark doesn't mean it's fully powered off, which is why I say wait a few minutes before the next step}
Now with your phone powered off, plug in the usb into your phone. (do this first, dont plug it into your computer yet)
-Hold down the Volume UP button and while still holding it down, plug it into your computer. Do NOT let go of the Volume UP button. You should see download mode, if you still see the same screen you've been seeing, lets continue....
Looking at your "C" drive or whatever your hard driver letter is on your computer, when you open the C drive so you see a folder that says "adb" (not in program files or program files x86)?
IF you DO see a folder that says "adb" look in that folder you should see fastboot, let me know if you do or do not have it in there.
--Download this and put the file into the adb folder. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952614130 (Do not rename the file, leave it as "recovery")
- If you do have the adb folder with fastboot in it, do the following:
go back into the C drive, Hold the SHIFT BUTTON (dont let go), now right click on the "adb" folder {do not open it!} and select "Open Command Window" once the black box appears, let go of SHIFT.
--type the following items into command: fastboot erase recovery
-- type: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and finally type: fastboot reboot

This guide will prepare you well to battle against all the Fake/Refurbished LG G3's present in the Market.
I recently upgraded to LG G3 D855 and was faced with alarming numbers of Refurbs.
In this guide, i'll explain each and every step that I produced to avoid any refurbished or Fake G3
Q.What the heck is 'Refurbished'?
Well, you already know its basic meaning but i'll ponder upon the Refurbished G3 D855.
Refurbished G3's typically show D855 in the 'About Screen' and even you can put the Hidden Menu Code i.e 3845#*855#. Almost all assume that its an ORIGINAL/GENUINE D855. In most cases, that's not true lad :crying:. All D855 Refurbs got D850/VS985/LS990 mobo and thus you will not be able to mess with it or even install a Custom ROM on it. Above all, it's a Fake one Dude! That's not what you paid for.
Now if you follow each and every step carefully, even if you are a noob, you'll eventually end up with a Genuine D855 :good:
Things you need BEFORE buying..
1. Laptop/PC
2. Attached adb files within this thread.
3. Data Cable.
Instructions:
1. Enable Android Debugging by hoping into Developers Options.
2.Go to Setting->General->About->Software Info->Build Number [Write it down as you'll need this Later!]
3.Change the Connection mode to MTP.
4.After extracting the attached folder, Right Click on it WHILE holding the Shift key. Now click on "Open command Window here" and type the following commands.
adb devices
[Now you'll see an Authentication Box on your device, check trust this computer and hit OK]
Now Type,
adb reboot recovery
Here comes the moment of truth
At top of the recovery screen you'll either see D850/VS985/LS990 or your Build Number. It's quite obvious that if your Build Number appears, you got a Genuine D855. If you get some other crap written there then all my apologies with you mate!
PS: I didn't include the IMEI check as all these Refurb phones come with Original D855 IMEI. Never Trust the IMEI check under no circumstances!
Troubleshooting:
Q.'Device Not found' Error after following the set of adb commands?
Make sure after typing 'adb devices' you get the 'Android USB Debugging' Dialog on your device, else you can try reconnecting the cable or even using another port on your Laptop/PC.
Q.My Phone booted into TWRP/CWM?
Well, that happened with a friend of mine and now it's quite tricky to check if it's a D855 or any other. You can try making a backup of EFS (or any other partiton) and reboot your device after that. Now browse into TWRP folder and hop into Backups folder. If you see a LGD850xxxxx (or anything like LGVS985xxxx etc) then it's a refurb set else if you see LGD855xxxxx, you can calm down now as it's a D855.
Good Luck, Hit 'Thanks' if this saved your a**[emoji14]
I got mine refurbished, but it's genuine! Thanks for the guide, saved my butt, haha!

So, basically, you just entered recovery mode, yes? Can't we just use hardware button combinations (power vol down) to enter recovery mode instead? Does it had any differences?
I am planning to buy a second-hand G3 and I need a LOT of fake checks to test...

Technically, Yes! You just gotta enter Recovery Mode. I didn't check if Hardware Buttons work or not on Stock KK Recovery.
Can you post the Results? I'll update the guide then.

Exactly, Hardware Button combo would let to a Factory reset. The only solution is to access Recovery via adb.
LG G3 D855. Can't upgrade KK to MM
Hi,
I recently bought a "LG G3 D855 32GB 4G LTE Unlocked" from amazon which came with Android KK. Everything looked genuine. But for the life of me, I just couldn't upgrade to MM neither with LGUP or LG Flash Tool. I checked everything. TWICE ! Made sure I had the right USB drivers, run the tools as Administrator, redownloaded the kdz file a number of times. Nothing. So I suspected it might be either fake or refurbished. I tried what was suggested here and I couldn't get to what I was expecting to be the recovery mode. The phone just factory resets and boots up, or if I use adb shell as advised it just reboots. What am I missing ?
Thanks.

You can get Lollipop OTA upgrade to make sure you have got the genuine version if the lollipop OTA works on your device.
and
Also have you downloaded the correct drivers, have proper USB cable and booted phone into download mode to apply KDZ update. If it still don't work then give a try to tot method.

Well the procedure i produced worked on various genuine/fake G3's. Hardware Button combo would definitely let to a factory reset so *The Only* way to access Recovery is via adb shell and make sure you type the whole command i.e "adb reboot recovery"

For now, I have sent the phone back to amazon. Hopefully I'll be getting a replacement in a few days. I'll try again and report back here. Can you confirm if i don't have to root the phone and install a custom recovery tool before running "adb reboot recovery" ?
Thanks,
I'm confused
I was under the impression that refurbished phones were the exact same thing except they have to go through more checks after they have been fixed. What am I missing?

Hi everyone, similar to the previous threads for
OP3, OP3T, OP5, OP5T, OP6, OP6T, OP7, OP7PRO, regular OP7T, T-Mobile OP7T, regular OP7TPRO, T-Mobile OP7TPro 5G, regular OP8 and OP8Pro here is the EDL package (also known as MSM tool or unbrick tool) that can revive a bricked OnePlus 8 bought from T-Mobile.
It will only work with T-Mobile variant IN2017
You should also be able to rollback your phone to a previous release of OOS with them if for some reason you want to go back to an older firmware
You can download the following versions:
ANDROID 10:
OOS 10.5.7
OOS 10.5.20: Gdrive - AFH (credits to @rzracer2 )
OOS 10.5.21 (credits @LLStarks for finding it)
OOS 10.5.22 (credits @LLStarks for finding it)
ANDROID 11:
OOS 11.0.5.7
Mirror for first and last MSMs: https://onepluscommunityserver.com/
Instructions:
Launch MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe.
On the login prompt select "Other" in the dropdown menu and click on Next.
Wait a few seconds until main window shows up.
Click on Target button and select TMO.
Press Start button so that it waits for your device to be connected
Power off your device
Maintain volume up and down buttons to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Plug your device to your computer.
Should you not manage to do that and have adb access, you can use adb reboot edl instead
Wait ~300 seconds.
Enjoy your brand new device.
FAQ:
Does this work on Mac or on Linux?
Unfortunately no, tool is Windows only. You should need at least Windows 7.
Why is my antivirus freaking out when unzipping the archive or running the tool?
In an effort to protect reverse engineering from being done (and by extension prevent conversion process like it was done on 6T and 7Pro), OnePlus now use VM Protect V3 in their MSM tools. As this tries to detect debug environment, this is seen as malicious behaviour by some antivirus.
My device isn't detected
Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK, it means Qualcomm driver wasn't installed automatically by Windows Update. Download the latest one from Microsoft website at http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab (source https://www.catalog.update.microsof...updateid=8ee52ba0-bdef-4009-88cf-335a678dd67a ) and install it manually by right clicking on QHUSB_BULK and selecting "Update driver software" and "Browse my computer for driver software" to where you downloaded CAB file.
If you can't get into EDL mode by hardware keys, you may use adb reboot edl (will require your phone to still have ADB access)
MSM tool is stuck on "Param pre-processing"
Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked above.
MSM tool is stuck on "Sahara communication failed"
Unplug your phone, get in fastboot mode, turn off phone, wait 15 secondes and get back in Qualcomm EDL mode. You can also try using a USB 2.0 port instead of a 3.0 one.
What is SMT Download mode?
Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.
How can I fix "SMT config not found" error?

@sameog this sounds to be an issue with AFH as otherwise it wouldn't have given a link.
Please try the alternative mirror I linked to in OP (password for it is at its bottom)
Additionnaly, even if executable is named MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe its version is 5.1.32 if you go to file properties->details.
Patching executables is way beyond my knowledge, so I cannot assist with that.

Download works fine for me (I'm in Europe and mirror is in Europe as well), there may be an issue with your ISP in regards to peering agreements to Europe.
Unfortunately I cannot do anything for it. As odd as it seems, you may neeed to VPN to Europe to prevent that issue from happening.

How are you getting into edl? are you using button combos? because when I was testing this it took a lot of time and effort and I got into it by chance in the way that is explained in the description. Even on my replacement OP8 I tried to get into edl with numerous button combos with ZERO luck.

Yes, it's the T-Mobile version.
These are files I have in my system to "unbrick:" my device:
1. OnePlus 8 T-Mobile 10.5.7 -- unzipped the file before you proceed (you all knew that)
2. QUD.WIN.1.1+Installer-10037.3+Setup -- this is required. If need this, copy and paste this in google. These drivers were hard to find at first. Unzip the download.
3. OnePlus_USB_Drivers_Setup -- I thought these drivers were unnecessary but they are VERY necessary. (caps for emphasis)
4. When you have unzipped the QUD.WIN.1.1+Installer-10037.3+Setup file and the OnePlus_USB_Drivers_Setup, go through the setup wizard. NOTE: Oneplus will ask you for something like "Wincom" for something of that nature, click next. It threw me as well. When the drivers have all been setup up and installed, perform a reboot to refresh Windows (it's good practice especially when dealing with drivers.
Guys who are having trouble: This is what I did. I powered off the phone completely. Launch the msm download 4.0. When the dialog box comes up, get your phone ready. When the phone is completely off, press and keep the volume up and down button pressed. Plug the small part of usb into the phone. While holding the volume up and down buttons and phone steady, I plugged in the fat end into the other usb port on your computer since we're dealing with unbricking our phone. You will know when connection is made when you hear the windows "attached" sound and you will see a "connected" text in the field on the top in the msm download tool launch box. Click on the connected to highlight this and click start. Do not play with your phone during this time. Let the program do its thing and your phone will automatically reboot when done.
I hope this helps guys. Wordy yes but it beats being confused as hell....
