[Q] Whats Rooting

I have recently moved from a HTC Kaiser that i loved to the Wildfire. I have seen lots of posts about rooting but nothing explaining what it is. Can somebody gove a quick rundown please.
In one phrase, gaining complete access over your phone.
This article at Wikipedia should help:
Rooting (Android OS)
If you wish to root, you can refer this extremely detailed guide here:

Asking about root for Lollipop (a small community rebuke)

Hello guys,
at first I want to say that I am really happy to be a member of this community, where so many users from different countries with different devices come together
and conducting experience exchange. This community is really important for every G3 user, especially to be updated on latest software or to solve problems.
But what really drives me nuts is the ongoing asking about how to root Lollipop in every possible thread.
The answers are mostly the same, what makes this question (let it be a post or a thread) almost useless.
Not only that it annoys me if I am continuously reading the same things, it also makes the whole forum confusing and relevant informations may go missing.
Why we cant create a seperate thread for rooting Lollipop whereto all this issue regarding threads will get removed?
And let us be honest: If you are not able to collect knowledge about rooting from the already existing threads, you shouldnt do it anyway.
Sorry but that had to be said
Just my 2 cents!

Wrong section for your REBUKE. We have Mods who determine whats right or wrong to post and they delete or move threads accordingly.
This rant is a waste of time and space. IMO should be in the Q & A Section but thats for the moderators to decide.
The next big thing will be to ROOT the G3 in its Lollipop/ART state which is why you see this question asked everywhere.
whoever comes up with a way to do this is worthy of praise.
I think the hardest thing to do is 1) Tell everyone at once that it doesn't exist yet, and 2) Tell everyone once it's achieved!
Sticky's do not work, in this day and age where information is so readily and quickly available, most people will not read pages of Q&A, no point discussing it it just will not happen.
Would be nice if once root on stock is done, that a message could be sent to anyone who's posted keywords 'root' + 'stock' under the LG G3 forums. Maybe that's an app in itself. IFFFT + Pushbullet etc etc
I second that my man. RoOT me stock G3 xda
we want to do something about the root Lollipop, please let
Hey guys, I'm using the d852 variant , upgraded to lollipop recently via the OTA, and obviously lost root because of it. Can anyone PLEASE help me get root back?! I've skimmed every post on XDA and not a single one mentions root for lollipop . thanks in advance

Hi Friend,
Please try this thread that I just created: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-update-to-lollipop-root-bumpd-twrp-t3048845
...it's tested to be working fine for my LG G3 variant (D858HK). The steps are from this original thread; I just added an extra manual step (and my thread looks long because I tried to detail the step, with pictures).

Sony Xperia Z3c 5.1.1 root step by step (easy)

Hey folks out there... I have made a step by step tutorial video on how to root 5.1.1 of our z3c... Hope it will help everyone
Actually I would not recommended to use KingRoot!
There are tons of negaive reports for it...
I would try this one:

Tested Guides - Root, Unlock Bootloader and Tethered TWRP On ZE500CL

Hello there!
I've noticed the resources for us using the ZE500CL variant of the ZenFone 2 line of phones are few and far between, so I decided to make this list of methods I personally tested for rooting, unlocking the bootloader and temporarily flashing TWRP (tethered recovery).
I apologize in advance if I'm breaking any forum rules, but I'll make sure to credit everyone who's guides and files I'll be presenting here. I am only posting this to help fellow ZE500CL owners in finding all the necessary tools and methods for various things they need. None of the tools and guides below are my work, all credit goes to their original creators.
I'll update this when I test more things, so keep an eye on this post in the future
NEW: Untethered (permanent) TWRP! You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-twrp-2-8-7-0-custom-recovery-t3328155
Root
Both methods worked for me, but I'd still recommend the second method in combination with temporary (tethered) TWRP in the last guide. Credit: @Chinaphonearena
Guide:

Unlock Bootloader
Please note: Only do this is you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing. Your warranty will be void and you will not receive further OTA updates. There are also NO CUSTOM ROMS for this phone. I am not responsible for damage to your device.
So, we've finally officially got the Bootloader Unlock tool from ASUS. It was uploaded in the "Driver & Tools" section on the ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE500CL official page just yesterday (I've checked it two days ago, it wasn't there, so it was most likely yesterday). I've got the information from this ZenFone 2 ZE500CL ZenTalk Forum post. I tried it, and it worked perfectly!
You can download it from here:
ZenFone 2 (ZE500CL) - Support
Temporary (Tethered) TWRP
This works like a charm tethered, but I didn't try flashing it. When I find one that works, I'll update this post with new information. If any of you find one before me, please notify me This one was, after all, not built specifically for the ZE500CL. Credit: @TheSSJ
Guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/development/alpha-tethered-twrp-asus-zenfone-2-t3123532/post61076508
Xposed Framework
I've attempted this one, and it worked. Use the tethered TWRP to flash, and be sure your phone is rooted and has BusyBox installed. Credit: @ansebovi
Guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-to-install-xposed-installer-t3116476
I hope this was helpful. Again, the only intention of this post was to help out fellow ZE500CL users, since it's hard to find necessary tools for this device.
Thanks to all the wonderful people of XDA for working on the projects and helping out in the forums!

Help to Root Ze552kl Oreo :)

Hello everyone
I tried installing android Oreo on my Ze552kl, but the installation was not finalized successfully.
So I decided it would be smarter to install the rom along with a Recovery and do a Root Direct.
Does anyone have a Tutorial, or any indication of Rom with less bugs in Oreo?
thankful

Did you even bother to look? There's already a thread about this here.
Thanks, I had searched, but I found only a few comments on the subject, I could not find the topic
