I was bored of .apk files either having Winrar icons or simply being a blank slate. This quick little guide changes said icons to anything of your choice.
1) Download FiletypesMan - 32bit, 64bit.
2) Extract this download to another folder and launch FileTypesMan:

3) Download your preferred icon (.ico files only) which will represent all .apk files. I personally use the following:
.ico version download
4) Note: A majority of the images you will find will be .png, I used the following website to convert it quickly: http://www.convertico.com/
5) While in FileTypesMan go to Edit - New File Extension or press CTRL + T:
6) Enter the following, making sure to choose your required icon and press OK:
7) Verify apk entry, the quickest way being CTRL + F and typing apk:
8) The effect should be immediate and can be tested by viewing any apk file:

Yes, there is a way !!! if you have root explorer, you can just copy your 'bootanimation.zip' into the data/local/ folder of your phone and set the permissions to 644.
There is an other way, you just have to download this application on google play : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simproductions.bachanger&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zaW1wcm9kdWN0aW9ucy5iYWNoYW5nZXIiXQ..

hello this is my first tutorial explaining how to create and modify the feature-other.xlm for GT-9500 before start you need something know about this files so I quote to kkoolpatz its explaining why if we dont find feature.xlm we can use other.xlm "These features can be found in /system/csc/feature.xml Some users have reported on being on a rom that does not have feature.xml. If you are one of these you may try adding the code to /system/csc/others.xml (same directory)." if you find some one of this your way end here because only rest mod code into xlm and you are ready to go but people didnt find any file even none csc folder this maybe help you.
s:cyclops:
Requirements
1. Be root is mandatory or at least Pre -root(i)
2. Root Explorer
3. Read/Write mode on root explorer
4. Have features codes to mod or customize (xlm)
5. Some knowledge about edit text and other things
After this we are ready to go
1. Open your root explorer and find this route in root/system/
2. Create folder csc
3. Search default_feature.xlm and copy to csc folder created before so now you have this /system/csc/default_feature.xml
4. Change the name to Feature.xlm or other.xlm depends of your device from (gypsy214 says "In the US is on Feature.xml in Canada as well as
international is on Other.xml"))//Note: if you are using a debranded rom you need try both names and look which works////
5. after this save and look the back up xlm file created by RootE keep save who knows when we gonna need it
6. Now you are free to go and unlock some hiden features i recommend this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2456683) made by gypsy214 to activate great nfc icon on status not
i left the image of my Gt-i9500 running custom feature.xlm

BootAniChanger
If you like to frequently change boot animations, then this is the app for you.
This app allows you to instantly change boot animations by simply selecting it from a list of zips that you have previously saved.
FEATURES
Easily switch between custom boot animations
Easily switch between custom or stock boot animation
How to use:
Download and install app
Download you favorite boot animation zips (@JT1510365 has a great collection HERE)
- I recommend saving all zips in a folder named BootAnimations on the internal or external sdcard (but a custom path can be used)
- Ensure your zips are just the boot animation and not a recovery flashable zip.
- Ensure you zip file name doesn't have spaces (use underscore instead)
On first use, you should click the "Request root access" button and grant access on the SuperSu popup.
Select the folder where your zips are saved
- This will populate the list with the files in your directory
Select the zip you want, then hit "Execute"
Don't forget to leave feedback here in this thread.
You must have a rooted T210, T210R, or T211.
Switching between Stock and Custom Boot Animations
This feature was developed using the binary files from 4.4.2 roms, so it will break boot animation on 4.1.2 roms.
