[Q] Can't flash stock ROM InnJoo i2s - InnJoo Devices Questions & Answers

Hello, I have InnJoo i2s with Android 4.4.2 and CWM based recovery and when I try to install stock recovery.img extracted from stock ROM zip and compressed in it's own zip it starts flashing and then it says installation aborted and now I have a bootloop and I can't flash stock ROM again
Can you help me? :crying:

Actually it's not a bootloop but as soon as the boot animation starts the screen blacks out. I think it was caused by trying to format data and factory reset the phone through recovery but it froze. Also, I'm not able to flash anything through the recovery and I can't restore a backup created with the CWM based recovery. Thanks again

Best way out is reflash the entire stock ROM as it is.
Format cache and delvik and reboot
Once the system boots up, reflash the CWM or TWRP and get back your backup to work

You may use flashify app from thegoogle play store

[Q] After flashing custom rom, N7 gets stuck on boot screen.

After rooting my N7 a few weeks back, I have tried flashing at least 3 different grouper custom roms through TWRP 2.4.2.
After flashing the rom, when I reboot from TWRP, the N7 gets stuck on bootscreen logo of the respective rom. I have to use Nexus Toolkit 1.6.3 to reboot into TWRP and restore from nanroid backup of stock rom, and everything works fine.
Why are Custom ROMs not being able to boot past the bootscreen logo?
I would appreciate help.
Thanks in advance.
You should give us more info... What's your device, which rom you want to try, what steps did you do to flash the rom in recovery?

Nexus 7, I have tried flashing simbean 4.2.2, latest XenonHD and another which i have forgotten the name (all latest grouper versions).
I downloaded ROMs on my PC from XDA.
Copied zip file into nexus 7 via USB cable.
Rebooted into TWRP 2.4.2.0
Wipe System/ cache/ dalvic cache
flashed Rom (indicated flash was successful)
Rebooted from TWRP
bootloop (getting stuck at the bootanimation of the custom rom)
Used Nexus Toolkit 3.6.1 to reboot into TWRP
Restored my stock rom from backup.
Stock Rom working fine.
Ive tried flashing faux kernel and an aroma installer for boot animation change, which has worked fine both times.
When you are in recovery, first go in wipe menu and do a factory reset, wipe system (optional), install the ROM and reboot and all should be fine.
Maybe try flashing with a more recent version of TWRP, 2.4.4.0

--------
Fastboot flash the latest recovery image from here...
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/grouper
...and then try again, flashing your preferred ROM in recovery.
--------
Don't know if it will work... but it's got to be worth a shot.
What is odd, is you seem to have no problem NANDROID restoring back to stock...
Anyway, hope you get it sorted.

Ged.

Lulz. The reason why this is happening is because stock nexus roms will ALWAYS try to flash back a normal recovery.
You need to try and find a way to flash back a custom recovery (ahem, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img)
and there should be a notification when you're about to reboot that says something like disable stock recovery?
Not sure if that was TWRP or CWM.
stock rom will replace your custom recovery with stock recovery.
Use Flashify app to flash img on phone

Custom Recovery not working

While starting to upgrade from CM10 to CM10.2/10.3 on MB526, I flashed TWRP zip file downloaded from Team-win website.
steps:
1) downloaded recovery and copied to SDcard.
2) reboot into custom recovery (CWM)
3) Flash zip of TWRP recovery
Since than, I am getting black screen after clicking on custom recovery from Bootmenu.
Device is working fine,
but with no custom recovery, my hands are tied...
can't restore backup, can't flash rom or do anything..
tried installing zip from stock recovery.. Installation aborted appears
Is there any solution to get recovery working without starting from scratch (flashing SPF and 2ndinit, and so on.... )

I think stock recovery can't help you now, you should start from scratch...
It isn't so hard, just takes time...
From CM10 to CM10.2, you don't need to change recovery, just install it. From CM10.2 to CM11 you should install update-recovery.zip, reboot, install CM11 + GApps.
Hope it helps... :highfive:

I think my system portion is corrupt... Any chance of saving it?

I have a 2012 Nexus 7. At the time it had a locked bootloader but it was rooted with cm11 & TWRP on board. I downloaded the Nexus toolkit & tried to upgrade to lollipop when it was officially released. Somewhere along the line, I think the system partition got corrupted. I can manually flash all IMG files except system. I can get into bootloader & recovery. I even tried flashing TWRP again to reflash cm. TWRP took but cm failed to install. Anyone else have this issue? The tablet appears to boot but it just gets stuck at the Google screen with the lock at the bottom. Never goes past that point. Any help to revive this tablet would be much appreciated.

Can you enter recovery or fastboot mode? If so, use either to attempt and repair (format) the system partition, then reflash the ROM of your choice.

In Twrp recovery,
1. go to wipe menu and advanced wipe.
2. select system partition then tap repair.
3.Flash your rom

Ok so that worked to flash cm but will this continue to happen if I try flashing the official lollipop update? I'm trying to return to stock so I can give the tablet to my nephew. I don't want him jumping into recovery or bootloader & wrecking it for good

Lack of recovery

Hey guys, I'm a longtime XDA browser but hardly ever post. I have the MXPE rooted with the newest TWRP build and has been running great since I got it. last night flashed the Deodexed 6.0 build from AICPs 5.1.1. I had some issues with the SD card being mounted as internal storage and erasing something so I tried to flash back to stock as my nandroids weren't seen as usable.
Long story short when I flashed back to stock, the recovery would never take. I've flashed the stock recovery and twrp to no avail. For some reason it wont actually stick. Everything else is back to stock but that. When I used the win toolkit and tried to flash twrp again it said something about the folder locations so I'm wondering if I messed something in the partitions.
Question is, have you guys ran into this issue or have any insight on where to go from here? I've looked around but I couldn't find a post that the same as this issue. As a side note, I can get into the bootloader just fine.
I appreciate any info that someone can provide.
Flash twrp. Reboot back to recovery from recovery. Reboot system.
Hopefully it's that easy. Stock os flashes stock recovery on boot. Rebooting recovery from recovery prevents that from happening.
From TWRP:
"Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot.... Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install."

Thanks for the info ffejy462. What happens when I try to flash TWRP and it doesnt stick? I know for a fact that I can boot into it temporarily with fastboot boot and the recovery file. Should I just flash it from there?

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. Flash recovery with fastboot. Boot into recovery. From reboot menu in recovery, select reboot recovery. Twrp will patch so recovery isn't lost again.

That did it. thanks alot ffejy462!
