Thanks to pershot and shep211 for helping getting us rooted. I knew it could be done with that 10.1 i/o boot /recovery from pershot!
next order of business i think should be getting a new kernal. For those of you having issues connecting to your PC or not wishing to use kies this would just turn your SGT into a flash drive. check out USB mass storage watcher by dinomight. hopefully one that supports OTG host functions. Tiamat may be of some assistance.
kernel source has not been released for this tablet.
i already spoke to samsung regarding this. they are working on releasing it.
Well, I can't wait!
Enabling the old USB drive style mount would be nice. I'm not quite excited to have to set up all the mtp and driver stuff on my system.
EDIT: Would custom kernels be possible yet if the bootloader isn't unlocked?
I need some custom kernals maybe
Hi guys ,
i just purchase a nexus 4 and i have a question about it.
if i want my nexus 4 "behave" like disc-on-key,
it is possible ?
I want to connect it to my xtreamer and play movies from my nexus storage , or to connect to my usb stereo in my car and play
music...
Of course i have OTG cable...
I supposed I need to ROOT my device... but i am willing to do that (another question - can i update android version after I root my device?)
thanks guys.
its very important to me
Hi someone can help me?

If your device supports MTP then yes, it will work.
However, you cannot use the Nexus 4 storage like a regular USB drive. The memory isn`t "mounted" that way and there is no way to do so.
Unless you can somehow partition the internal memory and then remove the MTP function. Which nobody has done...
So, in summary, if your device supports MTP or even PTP then yes it will work. If it needs a proper USB thumb-drive / hard drive / key, then you are out of luck my friend.
Sorry!
EDIT: To your second question, yes you can update after you root. Unlock the bootloader and flash away some different ROMs with additional features to the stock software. It`s why you bought a Nexus right?
thanks man!

Well, if you used a custom rom, just flash back to stock and go into settings/infos about phone/check for updates, and use the OTA update.
I guess. I've never made it before, since it's my first nexus, and I had it shipped with 4.2.2 :/
However, that is how I will do to update.

Hi yesterday I get android 4.3 to my device and get
bricked, I think that's bricked couse I have open
bootloader and root, but not sure.
My question is actually I can go to TWRP, I see an
option who can use usb otg. Do anyone's think I can
get a flashable ROM in an Usb and flash it by TWRP?
I'm on holidays and not have a pc to do the process
by nexus tool kit.
If anyone can help me...
And wich one is the best ROM to flash to the nexus7
3G?
Ps: sorry for my English boys! thanks
Just flash anything, when you got this lucky flash whatever you find first, you might want to try stock or if you want there 2 aosp 4.3 roms in the 3G forum
And yes, transfer of through USB otg on the device and then flash it

Thanks!! I'm writing now from my N7 !!
Hi all,
I picked up a TN7 with a damagend usb port and im wondering if it is possible to flash cwm and roms using an sd card only? I have soldered a usb cable to provide power and plan on fitting a wireless charger in the future.
I installed the ota updates to 4.4.2 but im now having rapid battery drain (1% per 2mins) so wanted to try 4.3 etc to see if it is any better...
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Zeph
Hi again,
Does anyone have any advice on this? Previously i've installed custom roms on an old hannspad which I was able to do by placing CWM, the rom and kernal all on an external sd card and could then flash them in order through the bootloader. Does anybody know if this is possible on th TN7?
Cheers in advance,
Zeph.
Yes you can. I think it depends on your recovery though. If you can find a way to upload the TWRP recovery though the SD card then you're all set.
I had issues with my device and I used a stock 4.3rom and uploaded it though TWRP. In order to get TWRP though I had to unlock the bootloader and upload it through the fastboot menu which is all done through a USB cable. Sorry if that doesn't help but that's how I did it.
I think your first step is to find out if you can unlock the bootloader without a USB connection and or attempt to upload a custom recovery like TWRP.
Hello,
I have spent half the day searching with no luck.
I have a Nexus 7 2012 running Blisspop.. But I am willing to change that.
I plan to use this as a dash mount tablet, to hook up to my MegaSquirt ECU using MSDroid.
I need it to connect with OTG. I bought an OTG cable, but I cannot get MSDroid to recognize it. Nor does OTG Troubleshooter.
So, Can anyone help guide me in the right direction? If there something I need to enable? If there a better CFW I need to run?
Thank you,
Randy
Try another otg cable. Not all cable are the same.
