What is this obsession with wireless N lately? What possible use is there for a faster local area network connection on a smartphone?
What am I missing?
Good point for me its just the fact that I can turn my router back to N only mode for my computer etc. Had to have it on both N and G just so my device could use it.
That and I guess for the added range you can get from it. not something I need but could be a reason.

Okay, I guess range is a reasonable reason for N on a smartphone. Being able to run a router in N mode only seems like it should be a silly reason but since some routers seem to have trouble in G/N mode, that's legit as well.
So it's not about transfer speed so much as connectivity. I was missing something.
I can connect to my N router in N only mode just fine with my Nexus One as is...

Hello guys.
Is there any development going on for the gpad 7?
Thanks!
I'm thinking about geting an G pad 8 LTE, is just 199,99€.
But, is there ( or in the close future ) any option to root? Nothing until now? ( 2 months since it was released ).
A few years ago I bought Galaxy S Wifi 4.2, it was good but without dev support.
And who have Pad 8 LTE, can share some infos with us? Like, battery life...
Thanks

Hi Guys,
has anyone problems with the first launch of Qpair and the P2PCallBtService providing the calls from the phone on the tablet?
I always need to stop and restart it to become the calling popup on the display...After that all is working fine. No problems with the sms, they are working fine since the first launch..
Can it depends on the custom launcher, at the moment I am using SmartLauncher.Never tried with Nova..and dont remember if the problem was existing on the stock launcher.
thank you all

Mount DataOnExt4
Hello everyone,
I was tinkering with my v400 the other day and got the message that the storage was running low.
Then the thought occured to me that on the HTC HD2 there was a technique to mount my ext4 partition as internal storage.
Now i got the idea to use the same technique on the v400.
I tried using Phoenix's zip file, but unfortunattely this did not work.
Is it possible to make it work somehow?
Im gonna try and rebuild the CM12 rom with the instructions in the HD2 thread.
If someone knows of a better way i'll be glad to try it out.
Kind regards,
Alex

I had this issue with a wifi usb dongle & I had to go into the profile and manually add the device to have it be seen. But I couldn't get it to connect to that pc for some reason.
Its worked so far on the other 3 tablets I tested it on though. Are you using a cheap/ebay usb dongle by chance like I did and it wouldnt work?

Thanks for the confirmation here... I can't find my Micro-SIM adapters anywhere so I haven't been able to test anything that requires a SIM in my N7000 lately.
(The 4210 family is probably going to be getting dropped with L due to lack of maintainers.)

CyanogenMod Forum → Device Req Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

We know there are work in progress to port CM 12 on T810 and T710 but none for T815 and T715
So those like me with T815 or T715 or ... that are looking for CM for their device can post their request in CyanogenMod Forum request page
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/116361-samsung-galaxy-tab-s2/
Yes; even without phone fuctions is ok for start. I see note 4 exynos got decent cm13 now; I hope no impossible to give it for tab s2 lte. Would be great
Hey, I'm new to this, but I want to give it a shot to try a port for the T715.
I think it should be no problem to make a build without modem support.
So my plan would be to use the source of the T710, if @CTXz allows me to use his sources.
Next I want to try to integrate the modem/ RIL sources, but don't expect too much! I'm completely new to android development and this will be my first project doing myself.
Just did some compilings and ports, but never to new unsupported devices. Maybe with some help it will be possible for me.

It seems the main issue is battery and camera (quality).
i think i messed my t817v. i rooted using odin, and cannot figure out what to do next. it tries to install but gives error message, also my tab wont charge, and when hooked into odin it keeps "adding then removed" over and over again... now i have a tablet that does not work.
any help on this would be awesome.

I would love that!
I also posted a device request at the CyanogenMod Forum.
What you always lose with CM is Bluetooth aptX support for higher quality Bluetooth audio, since they have no licence. And since now there is official MM for the S2 and it - with enough free storage and 3 GM of RAM and root available - really doesn't profit any more from a "slim" ROM than earlier devices did, can anybody point me to a real advantage of CM?
For me CM was never about storage, but about control. As far as possible (for I am no programmer) I want to decide about the rights apps have and don't. It starts with being able to delete them and goes on with being able to restrict their access rights. As far as I remember such privacy guard things are much more easier to accomplish with CM.

My TAB s2 is my first Samsung device.... ( other android devices being nexus 7, xperia z2 / z3, moto g 4G ) ...... I love the tablet but I must say the draw of a supported CM ROM would be the look / feel of stock android and the way the system behaves. Whilst with a rooted device you can remove bloatware, the system itself does not change. All of my other devices have been stock or only lightly skinned....and basically stock once you swap out the launcher.... so I have come to like that. I do find touchwiz to be a little in my face and I do notice the system intrusions a little...... a personal thing of course and I am not complaining as I made the decision to buy it knowing full well what Touchwiz was... but the hardware in the tablet and the price was the draw-card (got the WiFi version here in Aus the first month on sale for $540 ... in comparison, the Nexus 9 was circa $700 and the Ipad Air 2 64gb was $730). My nexus 7 2013 runs MM with less and smoother than the TAB s2 runs LP. I could only imagine what it could do with an ASOP ROM once the bugs were fixed.
Could it be due to a defect usb-port?

Do u know the difference between WIndows Phone/iPhone and Android, that's the kind of comparison u can use between Stock and CM.
Stock is the cute "little" thing with mostly everything that u may need ready to go.
CM is the smaller in size, much faster and with options to do almost anything u could think in a device.

Why does the SM-T815 run in 32bit mode, even under CM13?

Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e T725N LTE root/custom ROMs current state?

What is the current state of rooting and custom ROMs for the LTE variant (full code of model sold in my home country: SM-T725NZKADBT)?
I saw some threads like https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s5e/help/root-samsung-galaxy-tab-s5e-sm-t725-t3926742 but they are old (but Samsung is releasing updates regularly) or closed or mix it up with the non-LTE device.
When will people learn that you don't buy an LTE late model tablet if you want to root and install custom ROMs. If I have seen this question once "Will this ROM work on my LTE tablet?", I've seen it a hundred times. And the answer is ALWAYS NO. I would think that 99% of the people who buy a tablet in the price range of the T720, also have a smartphone. So why do you need LTE in the tablet? Personally, before buying ANY tablet, I check the XDA forums to see what kind of custom ROMs are available.

Some people want or need the LTE functionality. I use a tablet for surfing and chatting while commuting (4 hours per work day, in winter sometimes even longer). The trains and busses in my region have no Wifi. Why not getting a smartphone? I'm visually impaired (glasses don't help for my issue) and everthing below 10" is unusuable for me. Additionally, I have some motorical problems and have issues hitting keys on a small virtual keyboard on a smartphone.
PS: I don't have bought it already. I ask before buying
Is there any reason why root or custom ROMs for the LTE variants are so rare?

They are rare because the devs don't own them. Many devs have attempted to create ROMs for the LTE versions of their wifi only tablets and have given up the idea because they have no way of trouble shooting problems.
As to your "commute", there is a simple solution. Buy a "hotspot" device. Even a cheap smartphone can be used. You don't have to be able to "see" it because it only requires being setup once. Then a wifi only tablet can connect through it when there is no other wifi available.

To each his own. But for the small inconvience of having to charge two devices, you are ostracizing yourself to the one percent and have to abide by the results. I'm just the oppisite. I had to have Amazon clear out my Kindle Unlimited device list but it had me down for having close to 200. Everytime I'd install a new Android version on one of my devices, Unlimited would log it as a new device.

Exactly. This is complaining why the dev community is not supporting a very very small percentage of he population who have no phone and only a tablet. The simple answer is as you said, use your phone as a hotspot. If you don't have a phone that's on you SMH

Hi guy, thanks Luk1337 for his help, i have built a rom for samsung t725 successfully, it bases on t720 and lineage-17.1 , I have modified the wifi model (source extracted from samsung official rom) and finally it works on my t725c . I only tested the wifi connection and have not tested the lte model because i have no idle sim card to test.
So if you need it ,you can build it by yourself ,with some special configurations. Or I can share you the rom I built yesterday.
I suggest sharing it for the public as I don't have time nowadays for tests and backups.
But a huge thx for the efforts

if you connect to a wifi ,google will try to connect to a websit to verify the quality of it. and if you get a prompt "Connected, no internet", it means that you need to config the captive-portal, use the command below:
Code:
adb shell settings put global captive_portal_https_url https://connect.rom.miui.com/generate_204
Note: https://connect.rom.miui.com/generate_204 is working for China area, you should replace it to your own country's server url.
