I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S ii, coming from the captivate im cofortable with the phones menu layout and everything. I live on a borderline 3G / Edge area and it always likes to change on me. I get full service with edge but it usually likes to sit with one bar of 3G instead of full tower edge. This is only an issue at my house cause im on wifi anyway and dont need the 3G internet here. On the captivate I had a toggle where I could use GSM only or WCDMA only and it seems not to be here on the sgs2. Is there a way to get around this and toggle 3G and Edge when I want to?
Settings>wireless and networks>network mode.
Don't know if it does as you want but the option is there

Yes, as rasinell says... Just choose GSM for EDGE.
I have an S4 i9505 and for some reason, it will not see the 2G data network. SMS and voice are fine but I don't see the "E" appearing in the top bar and data services aren't available.
The 2G network here runs on the GSM1800 band which should be compatible with the i9505.
I've added the necessary APN also.
Hi...
I have Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE which is international version (GT-i9505), my device going mad that just have EDGE connection. I live in Indonesia which dont have LTE access. but my phone can catch any 3G/HSDPA/HSPA network just stuck on EDGE. im also use XL AXIATA provider that provide HSDPA on Band 2100MHZ, i have read all specification of my phone that its have possibilities to access UMTS/HSDPA network. but its nothing with me. i also have other LTE device which is Galaxy Note 4G LTE Korean version. it has HSDPA network and little similar network properties with my S4.
how to make my s4 can access 3G network ???? please help n sorry for my bad english

Hello,
i want ask if its normal that LTE Only mode on my Samsung Galaxy S5 disables ability to use calls.
I have problem because my S5 is using mostly H or H+ connection in locations where LTE is available. When i choose LTE band preference it connects to LTE but voice calls dont work. When i choose LTE/WCDMA or LTE/GSM voice calls are working but after call its conneted to H or H+ again. It never prefer LTE.
What's wrong. Do you have same problem?
I've seen this kind of posts a few times already but there is not actual solution for that. Probably the problem is ( and there is very high chance of that) that your carrier says it is enabled LTE but they have bad infrastructure. And phone is always trying to connect on more stable connection and that's why you see LTE for a short period or whatever it is.
Hi,
LTE is actually only for data so if you had set LTE only mode wouldn't be able to make a call.
Thanks, any other questions?
