Hi all, I'm a long time member here at XDA. First time posting here in the M9 forums .
Over in the Sprint forums (as this is the device I have) I have created this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-one-m9/general/sim-unlock-thanks-to-ftm-t3134003
Trying to see if it is possible to Sim Unlock using the new FTM mode (volume up + power button combo) along with the config.dat that seempi has created.
It didn't work for me (it read the file though) as my device is Sprint and the Unlock process is different.
FTM mode can also change your CID, IMEI (PROBABLY NOT LEGAL IN YOUR COUNTRY, DO NOT DO IT) and SF (whatever that is???)
Anyway if you care to check it out and test it, that would be greatly appreciated.
If you can post a logcat as well with the relevant info that would also help. (ADB is avaialable in FTM mode, you may need to reinstall driver from device manager though)
Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Stifilz
I did this other day, but have not verified if it either or not. And no logcat, but I will check within the next few hours if it actually unlocked my phone.

Thanks for your feedback. I will add you to the credits when results are in. :good:
Well it looks like it didn't work. I'll try again sometime with international firmware an software. I have a T-Mobile phone with T-Mobile firmware and viper m9. Idk if that makes a difference or not. And no logcat still.

Hmmmmm, that could be it. I know for normal T-Mobile unlock you need to change from T-Mobile FW.
As for the logcat, does 'adb devices' work in FTM? I had to manually install the driver in FTM mode
Thanks again

unlocking is different than putting a custom rom on it. You can change any ROM you want but if the phone is locked you can only use at tmobile.
unlocking will give the ability to use it across the carriers

yes , my device use out of t-mobile.
but what's different with security unlock ? because my device if I go to 3 colors screen get PB81*** not PB81120 or PB 81110 (if for int version) with text 'security unlock' in top screen.
My life would be better if I could get a copy of this ROM
Can you please make this (3.14.531.1) available to me?
Thanks,
Kevin
Hi Guys hopefully someone can help me with this. I wanted to switch carriers today and found the phone not getting a signal even though I know the SIM works. So i ran 2945#*802# and it comes up with the message "this phone is permanently locked and can not be unlocked". It doesn't prompt me to type in any unlock codes or anything. The only option is to dismiss the message. When i turn the phone on the only code it prompts me for is the SIM card pin.
I called up the carrier and it turns out none of the carriers in our country are allowed to network lock phones ( our country communications act) so they wouldn't be able to help me
Has anyone dealt with this recently? Please help.. thanks!
The phone is the D802 (int) variant.
Where did you get the phone? Have you tried flashing/restoring the phone?
got it from a local carrier, was switching from them as their signal is terrible. I did try flashing the stock rom but no luck :/
What country be more specific so people can help you.

Got same on 802 int from uk talk talk.
Any ideas?
I have same problem on O2 uk o2 say I must have entered wrong unlatching code several times! But I have never had oppotunity to enter a unlock code because I can't get past "phone is permanently locked and can not be unlocked". Only thing I can think is O2 sold me a refurb and fobbed me off with it being a new phone I paid over two years for fone on refresh and cannot now unlock to sell on although they will offer me £30 for it on there recycle plan. Wish I had not upgraded with them now #rippedoff
Dear HTC J One users,
Unfortunately there are not enough users of HTC J One (also known as HTL22 / M7_WLJ) to lobby a dedicated thread, so I decided to post this info thread with information about the device, root options and custom roms available so far.
The credit goes to all the devs who made it possible. I will provide links and credits, but please let me know if i missed someone.

I am not experienced so muchg with bricks unfortunately. Seems to be hard brick from what you said. Can you take it to AU shop? or are you outside Japan?
Try to look for info about normal (non-japanese) HTC One brick problems - they are 99% same phones - so it might help
Hi people. Nice to see some information about this phone.
@umka83
What ROM did you use from the list in your first post? Can you confirm, that sd-card working.

Hi. I am now visiting relatives in Japan, and was thinking of changing my old Samsung Nexus S...
I like the quality of service here, and I guess I can buy a used keitai with much confidence.
So I was thinking about this one,as I can find it here for about 25.000 yens, but I am wondering if I will be able to use it normally abroad, with almost all the features.
For example, can you run the 4.2 rom in english ? is it convenient ? One-seg feature is exclusively for japan I guess, right ?
If you think there is another high quality phone that can be bought here, please advise :fingers-crossed:
Thanks.

hello,
I have this phone HTC J One (htll 22) and I use it everywhere in Europe witout problem. To answer your questions:
1) You can Run 4.2 Rom in English, French, German, Ukrainian and many other languages. You can swith to English easily via Menu>Language and Locale > English, to swith to other languages, you need MoreLocale app and root.
2) One-seg is Japan only. No other country has this type of waves.
3) You can wait for Samsung Galaxy s5 which is coming in 3-4 month (it will be quite expensive at first). Otherwise, i beleive HTC J One is the best phone on Japanese market right now. Maybe Nexus is worth a look.
4) Yes, you can buy a used phone from Yahoo auctions for about 25000 or you can buy from http://www.Zenmarket.jp, even if you are abroad. Also, I have a slightly used rooted and sim-unlocked spare phone (PM me if you are interested)
5) to use the phone abroad, you need S-OFF, Root, and Sim-unlock. it is a pain, but it can be done if you are familiar with ADB and other stuff.
6) Is it convenient? I did not like the BlinkFeed thing. So I installed another launcher. Otherwise, it is a great, durable, very good looking phone. I am not going to change it for now.
HTL22 Sim Card Not Detected
I have HTL22 (HTC J ONE) and I've followed this forum to unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, install custom mods, S-Off and all, but I've had problem with phone not detecting a sim card.
I've tried many custom roms, and none have worked and i even bought a sim unlock code from one of the websites, however I couldn't figure out how to put that in as the roms do not ask me to enter a code.
Any kind of help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Are you in Japan? Did you buy your phone from auctions?
if answer to both questions is yes - you might be a victim of IMEI - lock by AU. This happense when the first owner of the phone is not paying for the phone, and thus phone becomes locked.
Your phone will work ust fine outside of Japan, but in Japan IMEI number is blacklisted. Changig IMEI in Japan is legal (unlike in many countries) but there is no easy way to change it. And it is not allowed to discuss methods for changing IMEI on this board
How to root HBOOT 1.54
Is it possible to root and install custom ROMs with HBOOT 1.54?
There is reference to in OP to use rumrunner. Is there any guide how to use rumrunner to root v 1.54?
Thanks in advance.

wow.. this is news to me.. i was planning to buy HTL22 or Sc-01F from Amazon.. After reading abt IMEI lock, i am rethinking again..
how can anyone know beforehand if the phone is IMEI locked or not??
1) ask the seller what is IMEI number. If they do not give you the number, most likely it is blocked already
2) when you have the number go to
https://au-cs0.kddi.com/FtHome
http://nw-restriction.nttdocomo.co.jp/search.php
https://ct11.my.softbank.jp/WBF/icv...tmctr=(not provided)&__utmv=-&__utmk=79683988
3) input your IMEI in the search field and clik on CHECK (KAKUNIN)
4) if the result is ○ then no problem, if the result is △ There is a possiblility the phone will be blocked if the user stops paying the fees, and if the result is × - the phone is already blocked.
No news for 1.54 hboot? Im on Mexico and ther would be a lot of problems with duties to send and receive feom Japan.

Had a fallout with my mobile provider (EE UK) so more or less basically my phone well my sim card with them is dead. I've signed up to Three Mobile (Forgive my terrible spelling) I have no idea if the phone is locked to EE though and no way of checking it currently (I'm going to flash it with a Three mobile firmware soon) even if it is locked which I fear it might be is it possible for the phone to be unlocked?
Already it's not started well. Tried to flash the 3 mobile firmware via odin and the thing failed! Help
can you let me know if you manage to get it unlocked im with ee and there customer service is rubbish,,,
This I have NO idea if this will work I can't verify just now but apparently this is a code to unlock S5'S:
http://autoomobile.com/news/samsung-galaxy-s5-unlock-code-leak-came-from-the-inside/1006249/
I need to get my phone up and running a bit first I will let you know of course if I get anywhere
There are no free SIM unlocking methods available. In particular the method in the post above will not work on any S5. You can pay an unlocking vendor $10 - $40 to unlock your S5. And a few carriers may give you an unlock code if you have been a customer for a minimum time period and have an account in good standing.
It's good practice to do a search before posting a question. Most questions have already been asked and answered and there is a wealth of information in existing threads. Anyone who had tried searching for this question would already have their answer as there are dozens, if not hundreds of existing threads about this.

Anyone heard about M9+ S-Off method in development?
It would be very nice to have that so we can change carrier ID.
At the moment we can't change from chinese to asia wwe or Taiwan etc etc firmwares or just CIDs, and thus who has a chinese CID in the aboot partition is bound to get Chinese news on blinkfeed. (I've gathered some information and this is the situation: blinkfeed is working with carrier id of the phone and other language resources. Read about this on E8 and chinese m8 phones, but now there's a solution for this with custom rom and mod, look up in this forum, CleanSlate or Mod Sense Home...)
I'd be willing to donate if S-Off would become possible. Of course we don't have the kernel sources yet, so it's very improbable that someone would be working on it already, but let's just start a discussion about this.
UPDATES:
So what we know so far,
- there's the JCard method possible which needs a service or a JCard at home
- the bootloader is type ABoot
- no method yet for s-offing without JCard
- no kernel sources out yet for the phone
J card works.
so far, only java card works
Thanks good to know about JCard thing!
Hopefully when kernel sources will be out, some brute force method can be found to access the protected partition and flip it to S-Off.
It would be nice to have a method that can be done with only software and PC.
There's been a recent dump of kernel sources yesterday on http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads but not the m9pw yet. Hope they release it soon enough, so someone can look at it. Hopefully a hoard of M9+ users would be willing to donate for the one who brings such method. I'll be first in line to donate.
Maybe there's already a similar device with MTK and similar boot loading mechanism cracked?
Do someone know if there were any other HTC device with MTK chipset S-Offed without JCard, like S-Off with revone and such methods?
Not sure if the sunshine boys are going to be working on s off on the plus but those guys would probably be the ones who do it, their stomping ground is Qualcomm however
I have access to HTC Authorized service in my City. These guys already have J Card but unfortunately the don't have detailed guideline how to deal with M9 +
They said that in another MTK HTC devices there is a option in the bootloader mode (Sim lock) and they are doing official S off in this menu, but there was no Sim lock Menu in M9+ bootloader.
If someone knows how to deal with this issue I will continue my attempts for S Off.

Nice! What's your intentions? Do you want to try to convert your phone to another region's full firmware? There's some risk in that, we don't exactly know if the hardware from China and the other regions are fully the same and compatible, like the radio unit. I guess they are, I didn't have any issues running the phone on Asia WWE firmware or European, but I didn't (and couldn't because of S-On on my device) try a full conversion with all the S-On protected partitions of the phone. I only could flash boot/recovery/data and system, but there's a lot more of different partitions related to the hardware functionality.
Practically with s-off you can overwrite the CID (carrierid) to supercid (1111111 or something like that ) of your phone and thus you can convert flash any other regions full RUU firmware zip from 'fastboot oem rebootRUU' mode. Then you can receive OTAs of that different regions.
Otherwise being s-off means nothing much more than that opportunity.
Also probably you could unlock the sim lock to a certain phone company if your sim is bound to a phone company, on an S-Offed device you can do that. But I'm not sure how that's done.

Please give us some more details.
As far as i understand - you connect the jcard, reboot in bootloader, and enter that command?
Thanks!
I have one from UAE. I did everything to s-off this device but no luck until now. It did not work with jcard. I have version 1.61.401.6 installed. Now, I see some people had luck with m9+ from other regions. I mean is it region related or something? I even did unlock my bootloader, installed twrp and rooted my device just to try that sunshine's method. Unfortunately sunshine's method did not work either. Now my question is,, If Taiwanese or Chinese versions can be s-off with jcard, how can I install their software version? Why can't I s-off my m9+ ? I really appreciate if people shared their s-off experiences.
Sorry for the ignorrance, but from where can I get Jcard? I see there a lot of people in here have it.
Also can a Java Card or Jcard be emulated on a PC?
