Hey guys.
Anyone have any ideas for something different for the desktop?
I'm kind of bored of the usual weather at the top and the apps ect underneath.
I was thinking of the Windows mobile style launcher, but it's just tiles with what ever you want lol.
Anyone got some ideas for a change?
There is already a Windows Phone 7 style launcher called "Launcher7" however I believe it's just a concept - it looks OK but not great.
If you're looking for a cool launcher that's customisable, I recommend Go Launcher EX, it's the nicest one I've tried (I prefer it to LauncherPRO). However, personally I'm fine with the Touchwiz launcher.
If you want to do some cool stuff with your widgets, maybe have RSS newsfeeds of your favorite sites? For that I'd recommend a widget called "Pulse".
Yea I usually gey bored that's why I rooted my phone to cm7. I saw they came out with open home 6 u might wanna check it out

While i haven't used it on the SGSII, only my atrix, SPB shell 3d was pretty sick. VERY fast. But still kind of the same setup
Circle launcher looks interesting.
Oh i like circle launcher.
i cant believe nobody mentioned SPB Shell 3D. just watch some videos on that and be blown away if you want something "new" and different on your android device.
If you don't care for Touch Wiz, try LauncherPro - I found that it is way smoother on my Note than either ADW (which I use on my SGS) or Go launcher.
LauncherPro is the only one i never tried... i'm sure it's still zippier than TW
SPB Shell 3D in tablet mode works great!

Yes..but I found the icons is abit "shrunk" as compared to other launchers...Is there a way to increase the size of the icons?
Regards..
Go Launcher Ex is possibly the finest.

I agree to that. Could get snappier though.

For some reason, SPB Shell 3D defaults to tablet mode on the Note. That's why the icons and widgets were so small. Once you change to the smartphone interface in "Experimental Settings," everything will become normal-sized.
SPB Shell really shows off the power of the Note. I had to use Launcher Pro with my Dell Streak because it just wasn't able to handle SPB Shell.

Just switched to Go Launcher! Wow! I can't believe this is free! It's an excellent replacement launcher. Thanks for the heads-up!
Not many people use LauncherPro nowadays, it seems. I do like the ability to set 15 shortcuts on the bottom quicklaunch bar. How does it run on the Galaxy Note, given that Touchwiz is GPU accelerated?
Neither Go launcher nor Launcher pro accept S-memo notes as widget. When you try to send the note as widget, it gets attached to tw anyway.

VTL.Launcher
VTL.launcher is what I've been using on my note. This launcher is based on ADW but optimised for tablets, which will add allot of useful option for use on your note.

Am I the only person having issues with ADW EX and Go Launcher EX?
ADW EX: Layout is tablet, lots of overlapping, menu at the bottom is cut off in portrait mode.
Go Launcher EX: LAG LAG LAG when flipping through homescreens in 5x5.
Yep I tried all of them and they all sux on Note. Who cares about Launchers since we will have ICS

To be honest, after a while I have noticed the lag, which is quite annoying on Go Launcher. I'm up for trying something else now me thinks...

He said "will have" (ie: future tense). Theres been confirmation that the Note is indeed a device getting ICS... As for when that is, who knows. Samsungs firmware update schedules are always a laugh. I figure by the time ICS rolls around the XDA community would have provided about 40 different custom ROMs based on it anyway.

I just hope that the wacom digitizer drivers and custom behavior related to the stylus won't turn out to be too problematic to put into custom ROMs. it'd be a shame to choose between ICS or pen functionality, or wait for Samsung to release a touchwizified ICS.

If I had to give up my wacom stylus, I would have just stuck with my SGS2.
Just wondering which launcher the top guys use,or even major users who like myself are always using their device? Thanks.

This was the worst launcher I have even used. Don't know if new features have added with recent version or not, but when I tried it it was simply pathetic.
My favourite is Nova Prime. Have been using it for over a year now and have no interest/need to move to others.
Apex.
It's the very first app I install after I buy a new device, even if I have to walk 4 kilometres to the nearest Extrablatt to use their WiFi
Nova launcher Prime. Since forever...

Next Launcher 3d Shell has the most vissualy impact on you so try yorself and stay with it for life :good::good:
so there are a lot of third party launchers out there, what do you vote for as the best and why??
i currently use nova launcher but i want to try another launcher for my s5
Opt for launcher x
Latest Nova Launcher beta with Pixel style icon pack.
I like stock Pixel look better than Nexus look.

I am currently using CM 3d launcher. I have grown accustomed to using. I like when someone picks up my phone to try and find stuff it's hard cause they don't know where to look.
I'm using evie it is similar to ASAP launcher, I like the intuitive design compared with other launchers out there

I tried to change my lancher to the stock luncher, but when I went to my settings --> defualt apps --> luncher
I have only MiFavor. How could I add the stock luncher?
edited:
I would like to add an app drawer, so if their any option I will happy to hear about it.
Just download an alternate launcher in google play. If you want it mostly stock android stuff, take a look at the google launcher.
Don't know what a luncher is?

any suggestions for a good, basic and unheavy one?
After using Nova and Holo launcher for years, I have found one that suits me very well, it is Action Launcher 3. It has several ways to open an app/folder, it is fully customizable and it is lightweight. However the lightest one is the Google Launcher.

I've been using Nova (Prime) for 4 years now. Best launcher with a ton of available customization! You can make it look like Android M, L or none of them and give it it's own look. There is a free version, and a paid version (Prime).
Google launcher is a really good and free.
