[Q] Will flashing a different region ROM change the CSC? - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My parents bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 LTE few days ago to replace my broken Galaxy Tab 7 Plus (ghost touches). It has XEF (France) CSC and ROM, and it has built-in French apps (which I promptly disabled due to irrelevance).
I've downloaded the XSP (Singapore) ROM to permanently get rid of it. Since the regions of both ROMs are different, will the CSC be changed? Having all PDA/Phone/CSC regions match is required by OTA and Kies.

Yes it will change the CSC, but it should be fine as long as you do a factory reset first; I assume when you say ROMs you are in fact referring to Samsung official firmware builds and flashing them through Odin. OTA is unnecessary because you can just use Odin to update if Samsung ever decides to update the 7.0 and/or 8.0, and using Kies is just counter-productive in my opinion, I've heard of all sorts of problems and Odin is far superior anyway.

Does this mean I have to factory reset in advance, or do I reset it during or after flashing? And what happens if I don't factory reset it?

Factory reset it before flashing. It will probably be laggy and some apps will force close a lot if you don't

Kies 2.0: "This device's version cannot be updated"

I bought my Galaxy SL from Egypt; however, I've lost my original ROM. I've tried both I9003JPKD1 and I9003JPKE1 (Both are Arabic), yet kies still complains it can't update the version. I've problems with these 2 ROMs. The perfromance is sluggish and the camera hangs a lot. I need to use Kies to update to the original firmware my phone came with. Is there anyway to do this?
Kies wont update the version as Samsung has not officially released any for this phone.
you will need to flash other ROM using the Odin and all info about that is already available just check the flashing guide and be careful as you might loose your warranty.

Yes, I flashed the only 2 Arabic firmwares available on samfirmware using Odin; however, it seems both of them were signed in KSA and not Egypt. Where can I find an Egyptian ROM?
I have the same problem here

[Q] Help with latest stock firmvare for my S4, UK, BTU. Confused what is what...

Hi, I got S4 I bought it in UK 3 (three) network.
I am trying figure out what firmvare I am on, is it stock or three modified.
And if I can flash phone to any better never, so I can get updates faster.
Phone is simlock free
GT-I9505
4.2.2
I9505XXUAMDM
I uploaded screenshot from about menu.
Phone region in Kies says BTU
What I found and I am confused is this :
http://droidviews.com/2013/the-latest-xxubmea-firmware-update-for-galaxy-s4-gt-i9505-brings-major-improvements-features/
On that webpage its "United Kingdom (H3G): H3G-I9505XXUBMEA-20130601113653.zip"
where H3G is three network however I cant update by OTA or Kies, mine says I got latest.
So would it be safe and worth it to flash to "United Kingdom (H3G): H3G-I9505XXUBMEA-20130601113653.zip" ?
or better wait for OTA update, may b when three release it??
the other thing is, I dont see H3G-I9505XXUBMEA-20130601113653 on http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9505&details=Galaxy_S_4
why it is not on there ?? official samsung firmvare web?
Please someone explain me, and advice on that (H3G): H3G-I9505XXUBMEA-20130601113653.zip
safe? better then my current? is it official? and why I not get it, if my phone on three?
Thank You
Kris
Right Kris your phone is simfree and it's currently got the latest firmware for simfree S4's in the UK
3's early S4's came simfree before they brought out their own lock branded one's, you won't get updates from 3 but from Samsung which will take longer to get.
3 have their own branded firmware which is MEA, which is currently the latest firmware out atm in this country.
If you want to get updates quickly but don't want to root or go down the custom road then you need to flash your S4 with 3's branded firmware like I've done, your S4 will still be unlocked, so no need to worry on that front.
But remember once you've flashed 3's firmware you need to wipe & reset so that it installs 3's csc so you can get updates from both 3 themselves via ota, or by using Kies.
This is a link to the latest S4's 3 firmware, if you wish to flash using Odin.

CSC?
thx for reply
so u posted link to the same firmvare ver. as I did in first post H3G...
ok I understand
however I thought Its like samsung updates comes out first, then networks take them and modify and release, means samsung sahould be before three updates? why other way around?
so is it worth to update it? or I should wait
is it that firmvare three branded?
my other question is, what if I change CSC code, lets say to POLAND
then I get OTA update after reboot?
like they says in this article :
http://droidviews.com/2012/how-to-change-csc-in-samsung-galaxy-phones/
thx

Samsung have this tendency to update network handsets well before simfree ones, just the way they work to keep the networks happy in the UK at least.
Yes that 3 firmware is branded what you get is the 3 logo at bootup & you get 3 apps that it.
If you mix CSC ie change the BTU or H3G csc to polish csc you won't get any updates at all, as your in the UK your better off using BTU which you currently have or H3G which you get if you flash 3's firmware, and just change the language to polish, if you want Polish updates then your gonna have to flash a full Polish firmware.
As for updating or just sit and wait well that upto you
So I think best option is just stay on what I am on now, and just wait bit longer...
the one more option I thinki about is may b flash unbranded firmvare like polish or german if available
like from: http://droidviews.com/2013/the-latest-xxubmea-firmware-update-for-galaxy-s4-gt-i9505-brings-major-improvements-features/
not sure they unbranded
Thank You for explanation...

Yeah if you not to sure on flashing then it best to stay with what you have now and just wait for the MEA update from Samsung which should be due soon, the only reason I flashed 3's branded firmware is because i'm too bloody impatient.

are there any links to official stock roms that are quicker (not hotfile)

Can't restore to stock

Hi. I have done something stupid. First i installed omega rom v10 (XXUBMH1)
I did not like it and went back to my original rom (I9505XXUBMGA Nordic countries)
What happened after going back was that the phone offered me two updates. I accepted because it was official updates.
The updates took me to I9505XXUDMH8. And i discovered this was because the CSC had change to BTU (united kingdom), probably the Omega rom did that. The I9505XXUDMH8 rom has some nasty Samsung protection in it, but i managed to root it and change back CSC to NEE, but when i now try to flash I9505XXUBMGA again it just fails... am i stuck on a UK rom??
Well, for the moment, Samsung protections on the last MH8 firmware prevent you from flashing an older firmware version (MGA for example).
As you changed the CSC to NEE, it's not so much an UK ROM now, is it ?

Will i get the NEE updates when they release newer firmwares?
Once rooted and flashed, you can't get official OTA updates.
For older versions, there was a way to restore the official status of the device (triangle away), but it doesn't work (yet) for latest MH8 firmware, still due to Samsung new protections.

OTA android 7 update for g935fd not working

Hey guys,
The OTA update for android 7 has come up in my s7 edge duos. I have tried downloading it twice........it gets to 100% and says there an error and that it's the wrong version.
Not sure what to do.........any ideas
Download and flash the rom through odin.
Did you ever flash a different rom? Which brand is respectively CSC has your phone?
Never flashed another rom........bought the phone off amazon.com............it's zn international version, but looks like the supplier got them from UAE.

the supplier may have gotten from UAE but the csc may not be from there.
you can try downloading the Rom from samfirmware and flashing that way.
Thanx for the reply guys, how can I find out the CSC on the phone? Also if I flash with odin, Will that erase all the data on the phone? And will it trip the knox?
Why is it that the update doesn't work? How come the software on my phone doesn't match the update it's downloading? Is it something the supplier/seller has done to the phone? Like modify the software?
Thanx guys
Install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ and you get all necessary information.
If you flash with Odin Know won't be triggered. You can keep your data with the three following requirements:
- The firmware you flash must have the CSC included you use at the moment.
- You need to use HOME_CSC file instead of CSC file.
- You may not tick re-partition.
Keep in mind to only flash firmwares designed for the Exynos variant.
Sellers on Amazon sometimes get phones from a different market and flash then a firmware fitting your market. This is rather a replacement than a modification (since the whole system is still official) and Knox is not triggered. However, one effect is that OTA may not work or gives "phantom" update notices. There's no restriction aside of that and you can just use Odin to remain updated.
You can post screens from all pages of the app I mentioned and we can see what's going on.
Hey Andiling, really appreciate your help pal. Here are some pictures you requested. Thank you

Tried to change CSC from DBT to XSA, passes odin, doesn't change anything.

Hello, I'm trying to change my SM-G655F from Germany to Australia firmware for the sole purpose of getting Samsung pay to work. I've done this before, switched from XSA to DBT in order to get access to Oreo early. I want to go back, now that Oreo is available worldwide.
However flashing the firmware through Odin, the process passes but I don't think it really "passes" anything, the flashing process is instant, where it should take a minute. And it doesn't change the CSC at all. What's going on?
Both firmware versions have the same April security patch. I've tried other firmwares as well to test it out and I'm getting the same issue.
