Faulty Glass and Earphones - G4 General

So I was inspecting my phone properly and found these 2 problems.
1st one is Digitizer there are little dots on it best seen on stock weather widget undet the date on blue background looks like the glass is not completely clear and there defects on it... can barely see it but once i saw it i see it perfectly everytime.
Next problem is with quadbeats 3 earphones the sound is perfectly loud on the right side but left is like half a volume...
Has any of you found same things?
Im going to try warranty exchange today.
I can´t be single day without phone....

Mine seems fine. You may bring it back and ask.

SOS - Hermes works fine just that there is NO screen!

Really need help here,
My hermes suddenly decided that visuals are no longer needed.
That means the screens stays off all the time (yes even in bootloader mode).
It works, receive calls and flashes roms but in no situation can I see anything on the screen (pitch black screen).
I've got no warranty so I took it apart and checked each cable and connector - no issues were seen. I tried changing SPL-s, RUU, Roms all worked but left my tytn with that black screen.
Did anyone see this happen or has any advice?
This sucks big time :-(
No one? Oh man, I guess it's dead then :-(
Last bump before giving up and throwing it away - please?
send it to me if your gonna throw it away : - 0
I've given up on mine as well. It has white screen though. Where do I dump this thing?
If it is out of warrenty, I would take it apart as is sounds like the hardware, check the connections to the LCD. Does the backlight still work, or if you put it in strong sunlight, can you see the LCD working?
My Hermes had a white screen also. I found that if I squeeze the bottom right hand corner whilst resetting it would sometimes work. It seems there is a chip on the switch board that needs the right ammount of pressure on it. I think it was a design flaw as the herm200 and 300 are different. If applying pressure works and you are confident enough take the hermes apart and put a couple of small pieces of plastic or paper between the front buttons and the small square chip on the switch board. This worked for me.
The service guide is available if you google. Let me know if you need more info.
As for the black screen that sounds more serious sorry not seen that one.
what are you guys willing to sell your pdas for? Mine fell in a puddle and i need one for parts. The white screen might be fixable the first couple of times but then it dies off for good, the black screen i've never heard of.
So if you want to sell for a reasonably cheap price let me know, i can buy a new keypad online for $50. So around there would be nice!

I just tested this on mine and actually got some results.
mines the opposite though, it will NOT work with any pressure. I left all the screws loose for that board under the buttons, and left the LCD assemble screws out on that end and it works, But if I press the keys it whites out again and won't come back until I repeat the dis-assemble/re-assemble
I had a similar problem but this was after someone dropped mine on the floor. The screen would just be white screen, while everything worked. If I pressed the bottom right of the phone it would sometimes come on and stay on for a little while but would eventually always go to white screen.
I did manage to use the phone but had use a program called Net Control which allowed me to control the phone over WIFI with the phone screen shown on the PC. Got the phone replaced in the end by the people who dropped it.
i got the flex cable and my phone still has the white screen problem....wtf///

Echo for callers after screen replacement

OK guys looking for community experience. My defy took a tumble and cracked the screen, the only thing holding the glass was a screen protector. I bought a screen from eBay and replaced it myself. All went well till I started getting complaints that callers to me just hear themselves back, now the complaints started first call after replacement screen and with every call since. Anyone got any ideas what might be wrong?
The only logical reason i can think for this is that somehow you managed to put something out of place when you assembly the phone back... did you try to disassemble and try again?
Sorry that a don't have technical skills to give a proper answer, but that looks logical!
Good luck!
It might be echo cancellation mic, maybe contacts aren't set properly on the board. Try to call with headset, it should be no echo.
When i'm holdnig my phone on my ear with my shoulder people are telling me that they hear themselves...didn't investigated that to find culprit, but it is surely because echo cancellation mic.
P.S. And don't call me Shirley
Hello,
I have exactly the same problem. This was my second replacement. The first time i just replaced the glass digitizer leaving my old cover along with the original buzzer. No problems there. The second time though i decided to order the whole thing all together (cover, digitizer, buzzer) in order to same myself the trouble of unsticking the glass and removing all that adhesive glue.
Unfortunately since my second replacement every time i make a call, the person i 'm calling complains about echo and hearing himself. I 'll try to replace the buzzer with the older original one i have and i hope everything turns out good.
Do you have any tips for me, have you solved your problem @rydroid?
any resolution
Hi, did anyone get a resolution to this problem? I have also replaced teh entire front cover and digitizer and am noww getting the same problem. I have double checked everything is installed properly which it seems to be. i think that maybe the noise cancellation mic is being pushed too hard onto the back cover or something.
Anyoen get it sorted?
Cheers
Chris
Guys,
Here comes the solution for my particular echo problem:
I got the same trouble with my girlfriend's phone. Few days ago I replaced the digitizer and since then when I was calling her phone I heard my own voice in my phone back with a nice echo effect. I took the phone apart again to separate the voice of the speaker from the microphone somehow and in the meantime I accidentally lost one of the yellow rubber rings. It fall down to the floor. When I was looking for it on the floor I just found it and I also found another yellow part that I was most probably lost few days ago at the first round. When I put back all the yellow parts and tested the phone again this time the problem just gone. So the solution for me was putting back the yellow part that is located around the bottom of the phone that seems to be isolating the voice that is coming from the speaker. This part is only visible if you take the phone apart in a way the only the LCD and the screen is together in your hand. The mentioned yellow rubber can be seen on this picture (which I just picked by google-ing some random picture): LINK. It is the one seen on the part that is on the bottom left corner, under the LCD, on the left side.
I hope this helps other to resolve the echo issue.
Cheers,
Adam
end of my woes.
I had the same thing as adam in the end. its the little orange silicon bit that shields the microphone. it fits into the fornt cover near the microphone hole. I accidentally threw it away with the old cover and then had the problem. I had to buy a complete new casing in the edn but it is working fine now.
Chris
Hello,
I had the same echo issue.
I have to thank you very much Adam, because I also lost mic seal when I changed touch screen. And I had a big luck, because I found it on the floor after 1 week!
Once again thank you
I am happy to read that it helped you, Hark33. That was the exact reason why I wrote it down. :good:
Cheers,
Adam
hi guys
same problem here, i have a second hand defy plus (maybe previous owner replaced the screen and forget the yellow rings),
so where i can buy this yellow rongs??
really thank you
Hello,
same here, thanks very much Adam!!! :good:

Having a few problems.

Got my Nexus 7 a few weeks ago...
Here's my problems:
Rear casing creeks on the right hand side of the device (where the buttons are) but only slightly,
Lower half of the touch screen stops responding sometimes,
After exiting a game or app it takes me to the far left home screen instead of the middle one,
It has stopped rotating for some reason (probably an easy fix),
Sometimes there is the odd screen glitch, like flashing of lines across the screen for a split second,
And there is some white noise when headphones are plugged in. And i would have expected slightly better audio clarity, but its fine.
Other than that its great! The novelty of a tablet hasn't worn off yet
My tablet is running the stock JB and is not modified in anyway.
Maybe somebody could help me with some of these problems?
Thanks
To be quite honest mate, I would send it back with that many faults!
I've only got a bit of screen flicker and I'm still temped to send mine back.
Back to what you asked, you could take the back off and tighten a few of the screws up inside. (Theres a thread on here about it). But for the other ones, I don't think there are any quick fixes.
Glad your still enjoying it, personally I still can't put mine down after a month
Still having them problems, but they aren't that bad. Still using my Nexus 7 all the time.
If I open the device, won't that void the warranty?
Thanks

Replaced screen/digitizer, screen goes dark when making a call & earpiece is silent

Replaced screen/digitizer, screen goes dark when making a call & earpiece is silent
So as the title says, I cracked my digitizer 2 weeks ago on vacation and finally got around to replacing it. Having done so, everything works great, all touches register, wifi/lte/texting, no problem. Had to make a phone call today and came upon the issue that the screen goes black and nothing will bring it back. My microphone works but my earpiece (speaker) does not. Once the other party hangs up, hitting the power button brings the screen up like it was sleeping.
As I've gathered from other threads, I'm going to have to tear it down again and make sure the proximity sensor is properly set up and check my cable connections for the earpiece.
Is there anything I should look for specifically while I'm back in there? Thanks all - I've only had it for a month and haven't had time to install a recovery...although I think I rooted it. Don't even remember! But first things first.

No sound after screen replacement (solution?)

So my poor Moto X is now on its 4th screen (dropped and cracked, split screen static thing, etc. ) and I ran across something tonight that may help others.
I have taken the phone apart many times now, what with actual replacement of the screen and trying the old ribbon cable adjustment trick. (which rarely helps).
Tonight I popped in the new screen and was pleased that it fixed my static split screen issue. But a few hours later I noticed I had no sound! Practicing my Google-Fu I found several instances of screen replacement killing the sound but no solutions. Searching the forum here I couldn't find any help either. WTF?!
After taking the phone apart several times with no success I put on a long You-Tube video with sound and started squeezing and pressing on the back of the phone and I got a small squawk from the bottom speaker. I continued squeezing and put in a few screws on the ends and as I tightened them much more than I normally am confident in tightening I got crackling sound from the top speaker. I put all the screws back in and tightened them as much as I dared and now I have sound, better sound than I have had for a while.
I think most of the eBay replacement screens are probably factory seconds and maybe the threaded post inserts on this one and others are a gnats ass longer than they should be or something.? So if you replace your screen and the sound stops, try tightening the screws a little more.

I remember getting the same problem when I replaced my screen. I don't know if it was a fluke or not, but those black speaker screen covers block the the magnets from the screen. I think the speaker magnets and the screen interferes somehow.
I forgot to place those black screen covers, and it didn't work. I reopened and put them on, it worked. Give it a go, doesn't hurt to try
