My son has a Note 3 on 4.4.2 and it has developed a weird problem where downloads from Google play halt. Things like Spotify install successfully but other apps are intermittent and they just hang during mid install. e.g. We just pulled Google Translate and after 10 minutes it is still sitting at 66% using Wifi.
Suggestions????
So I've woke up in the middle of the night on 3 separate occasions in the last week and I've noticed that Android with a chest open was on my TV screen this morning as I'm getting ready for work I notice that my next play it was downloading an update and then went to try install the update and ended up going to the android screen with the robot and his chest open which mean there was never with installing the updates my Nexus player rooted and has stock recovery anybody know what this is about or how I can fix this?
To start off, this is happening on my rooted & bootloader unlocked Lollipop v5.1.1 Nexus Player, btw...
But anyway, just all of a sudden today, I started having issues with the Play Store sorta freezing up and displaying/getting stuck on an all black screen(the entire tv screen would go solid black) after choosing on the "Update" button within a couple of different app listings. It wouldn't go past that black screen unless I would back out of the Play Store all the way back to the home screen, and from there I could re-open up the Play Store app again. After finally trying and trying over and over again on several different apps, a couple of them DID manage to properly update via the normal Play Store updating mechanism. After a couple of successful updates, I opened the Play Store back up again and NOW it won't even open up at all...nothing at all! As soon as I would try to open it up, there would just be a little swirly thing on a black background and it would then display "Server Error - Retry." It seems to be stuck on this crazy error now and the Play Store won't even open up at all. I eventually got fed up and just cleared the Play Store app cache and data from the main Android->Settings->Apps section, but that didn't clear up any of my issues with the Play Store, so I just rebooted and then reinstalled the app. Reinstalling the Play Store from the apk downloaded from apkmirror did nothing at all to clear up my issues either. Sooooo...I'm stuck wondering what to do next? What could the problem be, and is anyone else experiencing this? It's not my network because I've tried running the play store from a wifi connection AND my ethernet connection, both with the same negative results. And this may not be related, but then again, it may, but the Play Store opens up just fine on my Note 3 and other devices I've got here at the house. Any help would be appreciated!
I'm having the same problem, NP updated to 6.0.1 and latest play store.
Did a factory reset and play store is just showing games , and it won't even show any apps in "my apps"

2 or 3 months ago, probably after some update my phone stopped updating the list of apps in the play store. Force close helps, but usually the next day I need to force close the Play Store services again to check if there are updates to my apps. Sometimes I see a big drain in sleep state. I suspect the Play Store, but have no proof.
The phone is not rooted and still has the original firmware.
Any ideas?
So I recently returned to full stock to dump the latest partitions and I came across a problem I had forgotten about. Sometimes when switching tracks or multitasking with Google play music in the background the music suddenly stops. After this the music app refuses to open and I get a weird dialogue message warning me "Google has stopped working". The warning literally just says "Google" not Google play services or Google play music. This causes crazy amounts of lag. Then it hot reboots (att logo and then to the lockscreen) and all is well. Comes back once every few reboots. It was the main reason I rooted originally back in January. Never once occurred after I rooted it, but as soon as I returned to full stock it reoccurred. Figure it can't be hardware as it would occur while running custom ROMs, and I'm not sure how to take a bug report without root. Wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this using Google play music. It's the only app that causes this issue. Very weird problem.
