Well you can but you won't be able to use your device as a phone. The sim won't work. Different modem hardware and software. It will work with wifi though so if you dont use it as a phone then you'll be fine

No, since the ROMS are designed for use with specific devices along with the device drivers.

Hi guys, my dad is bring a n9008 back from China. It has the qualcom 800 cpu onboard. I have done alot research on this phone, and only found the guide to root and flash recovery. So my question is: is it possible to flash roms made for other variants( such as n9005) onto n9008? Since the n9008 won't support the wifi calling from TMO, i would rather put a CM or AOSP on it.

as always, you got your phone from china, get help there, in other words, if you want support, get yor phones in your own country, imagine this, you will get a warranty also, is not that amazing?, yes you save some money buying overseas, or from a no one knows about seller, but, at the end, you get no support, think abot that in the future,
Pray its not a fake

well i got the phone as a gift. so its not my choice at first place.
so far i'm able to install all of the n9005 roms(x note, omega, lidroid) and everything works flawlessly.
the tmobile rom can be installed normally, but i just cant turn on the wifi( it stucks at turning on screen)
anyone got a solution to that?
Now you can install a CM11 ROM!
I too have been given a GN3 as a gift but it's the N9008 model.
I tried flashing the latest N9005 KK stock firmware, but I had no luck.
Do you know if there's a possibility of "changing" the model to a N9005? Hardware wise I believe they are exactly the same?
I imagine LTE is also not on this particular model? Am I correct to say that all Snapdragons are capable of having LTE? Would it be the firmware that "enables" LTE?
I don't really want to be on the Chinese firmware.
I've rooted the device and got gapps on their, but I'd rather a proper international firmware.
If anybody can help, it'd be great.

What difference between these models? Differences are just supported networks?
Can they exchange both ROMs? (ex. N910C XEO overwrites to N910U models)
i want to know too.. can anyone confirm if we can use any exynos rom on models n910 C,U,K ?

As what u quoted from your post, it shows clearly about those versions are different between the network frequencies that they support. Sorry for my bad English....
At the moment, I think 910U can support most of the networks.

No, you have to use or better use the rom that is exact the version u are having. Or u may lose your network connection.

The u firmware is what you want. Just download the latest one... maybe pl2? It will unlock all radio bands. You may have to sim unlock it too. Root is unstable and still won't give you the all of the bands. The hardware is there, but the software controls them.

I don't think the U firmware supports wifi calling , I think with the modding of some files you can get it to work but being that your on a European carriers i wouldn't know which way to steer you

Why are you trying to do this?
If you are trying to change the radio bands (like enable new or different LTE bands) just changing the ROM or modems doesn't work, it is embedded deeper in the system.

They are different HARDWARE versions. Different RADIO hardware to be more precise. This action is very likely to result in the radio not working anymore, and you might be left wit a small tablet, that can't make phone calls or connect to cellular data...
Thanks for your information.
There's no specific firmware for each variant. All firmware are universal, so any would adapt to your hardware (NFC, Compass, TV).
So, flashing any firmware will work on any potter
And yeah, model, and radios are on other partitions, so, they won't change on fastboot, or through TWRP

Is this confirmed?
If so, what are the partitions where model and radios are stored (and other model specific stuff)? Are there any other partitions that you should never flash with a copy of another model?
The thing is if i flash any kernel like custom or other than stock default kernel. I get emergency calls only. It does detects my carrier but no signals. Signals only work with stock rom which came with my cell. Even if i flash other stock firmware, no signals there as well. I noticed the problem is in the kernels.
Any one knows what is the issue ? Model is G950N LUC.
TIA.

yeah maybe. IMEI is ok. signals wokring fine with rom came with it. SD1 PIE.
Have you tried flashing kernel of other S8 variants?
Maybe your model is not exactly G950N?
Just to make sure, try of othe variants.
And probably you know that older operating systems may have problems cause of modem version, right?
