As the title says I've installed Windows 10 TP on a Chuwi vi8. Easy enough to do, iso on to USB stick (fat32) with GPT part for uefi, then just hit escape on startup and go to boot menu, even added Wifi drivers to usb and loaded them during install which worked. Upon finishing I had to load a lot of drivers manually but managed to get a clear device manager. Had to manually install Intel HD drivers as it sees the MS drivers as newer, until you do this it's at a snails pace.
Anyway, the one problem I have is the touchscreen. It's recognising touches, just nowhere near where I'm actually touching it. Ran the calibration and having no luck. The current drivers are 'KMDF HID Minidriver for touch I2C Device' and these are the ones I found for W8.1 .
Anyone know of an alternative/fix or is this just a W10 TP problem? TIA
That's weird. I just went back to 8.1 but had been running 10 for weeks. I just installed the 8.1 driver, it complained initially (exclamation mark) but cleared after a reboot. No touch accuracy issues for me on 10074, 10122, and 10130. I think I got my 8.1 drivers from a link on techtablets.com.
BTW, the only issue I had was constant battery drain, even on standby. Are you experiencing that?
I also have the dual boot VI8 and wiped all partitions before installing 10, if that matters.
Edit: I've pretty sure these were the drivers I used: http://techtablets.com/download/Chu...ivers/Chuwi Vi8 Win8.1 drivers April 2015.zip
Hi my2sense, cheers for the reply. I used the same drivers, mine's the single OS no hdmi version. I found another set on a Chinese web site last night, I'll try them out today. After a lot of searching it seems some people are having the same issue after reinstalling 8.1. So maybe the drivers have been updated and are to blame. I may try pulling the old drivers out of the recovery drive I made, see if that helps.
As for the battery, yeah it's on constant drain when in use. Before I installed the drivers it seems to have charged as I was on 40% when I started in 8.1 and 75% when I finished in 10. The brightness levels also seem off in 10, just nowhere near bright enough. I'll probably head back to 8.1 after I have it working and wait for an official version. It's a shame as windows 10 has a much smaller footprint than wimboot 8.1 + recovery drive and seems like a nice OS.
Try regoing to 8.1 and hard reset for best results

any solution ?
Hey,
I've ran into the same problem. I'm waiting for the tablet to reset but its taking ages.
Either way, I'm going trying the following;
(Just google "Chuwi Vi8 Windows 8.1 Reinstall Touchscreen Calibration Problem: Resolved" first link)
I'm not allowed post urls yet with my low post count
Seems like it might be worth a shot at least. I'm assuming the drivers work with Windows 10 however.
Jim
Just to note that following the instructions exactly as indicated in the post referred to in my post above leads to a correctly functioning touchscreen on the VI8 in Windows 10
i had the exact same problem with my vi10, just download the win 8.1 touchscreen drivers from somewhere and restart your tablet
Open device manager - human interface device - right click KMDF HID Minidriver for Touch I2C Device then choose Uninstall (tick delete the driver from þos device). Download this driver ht tps:// drive .google .com /file/d/0B8WYoM0IL-EHX1lMV2FZcUdibkE/view?usp=sharing
On device manager right click and scan new hardware. You can see new hardware found. Use the new driver.. now restart the device.. hope this can help

My problem was the same after installed Windows 10 on chuwi vi8 (single boot version), the touch was comepletely inverted: when i touched left bottom corner the touch showed at the top right corner and so on. I remembered that on Android when i ported roms from different devices i had the same problem.
How to fix it?
1. remove the touch driver (KMDF HID Minidriver for touch I2C Device).
2. The screen rotation is disabled by default on Windows 10, you need to enable it. After that you did that, rotate the tablet upside down: with the tablet's Windows logo at the top of the screen (IMPORTANT!).
3. install the KMDF HID Minidriver for touch I2C Device driver again. The driver will take the initial directions now, so be sure that you dont rotate the screen during this step.
4. reboot, and its fixed!
Hope it helps....
Just Thanks!!

I followed your simple instructions and finally, this really worked for me after a lot of time having issues with the touch screen.
Hope this works for most people too.

I followed your instructions, the device is recognizated but the touch present multi points on the screen and the miviments is inverted.
I have the same problem.
I had it windows 10 out of the box, however I had to reset it to defaults recently. Upon booting up I'm on the page where you choose your time zone/keyboard layout/language/country..etc, there is a next button on it too. Its part of the windows steps before it actually boots into Windows for the first time, unfortunately the touch screen isn't working on at all on this page. So im unable to even get to device manager or reload touchscreen drivers.
So for me, What are my options?
Could I use a micro USB to USB converter and plug a mouse in the tablet???. Im not sure if the mouse would get recognized or not though... I cannot think of any other way to solve this??.

Just installed Uniblue PowerSuite 2010 and updated all my drivers.
Unfortunately the touchscreen now isn't - at least in Vista, it still works on the SnapVue side - so it's not a broken hardware issue.
I tried to go backwards with system restore, but it just comes up with an error.
I tried downloading and reinstalling the touchscreen driver from HTC. Reading the instructions pdf, item 1 requires the ECDriver to be installed. So downloaded ECDriver and reinstalled that as well. But I still can't see the ECDriver on the Device Manager.
Any suggestions anyone?
OK, got the EC Driver re-installed with help from HTC - evidently they have changed the files on the driver download without changing the installation instructions pdf.
Now I've tried reinstalling the touchscreen driver.
It didn't install as per the explanation, as in the calibration screens didn't come up. However I can start the "click on each corner" calibration programme through the Tablet PC menu and it accepts my clicks on the corners so I assume something is working.
I can't even find the entry for the touchscreen on the device manager to de-install the drivers to try re-installing them again.
I am a little stumped now.
Any suggestions???
Hi all,
I just installed a fresh copy of win7 ultimate on my HTC shift and installed all drivers because the old install was getting sluggish. Everything works except for two things: interpolated high resolution gives a blue screen crash when aero is active (no transparency) and the windows basic theme is UGLY. And the second problem: after I install like 85 windows updates shag control center crashes and have to restore a system recovery point. Do you know what update causes this so i can hide it and install the rest?
Many thanks,
Pelle

Which drivers did you use? I hope you are not using the Windows Vista drivers. Download the Shift Windows 7 drivers from this link http://azsharing.com/yvex8pwmz01j/SHIFT.zip.html. Install the Windows 7 drivers discussed in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=590009. The sequence of installing them is precise including those that you need to install in Vista Compatibility mode and with Admin Privilleges. As the OP stated some of the drivers will be installed through Windows update but check which ones. Follow the recomendations in that thread and all will work like a charm...
I believe your Shag Control problems and all display problems are related to the drivers and not Windows update. Mine is on automatic updates and I have not excluded any updates at all save for the Language Pack that I do not need....
Re-install the drivers and lets see what happens after that. By the way DO NOT ENABLE AERO BEFORE INSTALLING THE GRAPHICS DRIVERS otherwise you get BSOD....... That advice is shown as Important in the thread mentioned above. Enable aero theme as the last thing you do with all drivers installed to avoid any problems.
I hope you get sorted and enjoy your Shift with Windows 7......
Edit>>>> There is a way to disable Aero when facing your current BSOd situation through Screen Resolution Settings but I dont remember the precise steps. I can retrace the steps on my Shift once I get to it after work and see whether that will help you. But let me know whether re-installing the drivers will have sorted you out>>>>>
Hello,
I used the driver sequence at gadgetmix (sorry, i can't post links yet) because it worked fine a year ago and the drivers from the HTC website in vista compatibility mode and run as administrator.
With reinstalling do you mean that I have to uninstall the old driver and install the new one or can i just install the new driver over the older one?
Thanks
Pelle
EDIT: had aero off the entire installation

Best is to uninstall and then install afresh using Windows 7 drivers..... Perhaps even check box to delete the old driver as well. If Aero was off during installation you dont have many problems. Aero on during 7 upgrade especially before graphics driver update causes Bsod or boot loop.
You should be ok when you install the windows 7 drivers. But the sequence of driver installations is important.... All the best
Have been fiddeling with the drivers for a while now and given up. just started Windows 7 setup again. After that i will use the windows 7! drivers and hope for the best.

EDIT: windows just installed. Turning off Aero and starting drivers... Fingers crossed
Drivers just finised and now the sond doesn't work
Tried rolling back/ updating driver, reinstalling driver muting unmuting in windows and shift control center but no luck...
And when I press the resolution changer I have to reboot to switch resolution.
shift control center has to be selected from start menu to start
This is a lot worse than when i did it using the tutorial at gadgetmix
Any idea how to fix this?

Sorry to hear about the problems you are facing. I am surprised coz I did the Windows 7 installation just a few weeks ago after reviving my dead Shift and everything is working perfectly for me. The only thing I havent fully sorted out is Finger print thing but I know I only need an hour or 2 with it and all will be well.
Incidentally did you do a clean install of 7 or you upgraded Vista?
Since you have just done a fresh install and you dont stand to lose much I would advise that you re-install Vista (F3) which will install all the drivers then Upgrade Windows 7 from the freshly re-installed Vista. You can then install drivers for any device that will show not to be installed after 7 upgrade.... Of course following the sequence and allowing Windows Update to take care of the rest.

The problem is that i once had to replace my HDD because some idiot dropped my shift and for some reason the accelerometer didn't kick in and trashed my hard drive. So pressing F3 won't do anything. Are there any other solutions?
DID IT! It was in my windows 7 install disk. Downloaded and burnt one (it should be legal because I have paid for it) installed, installed drivers an BOOM! everything works! aero, HiRes in aero sound, its nice and responsive battery life on power saver 2H and 45 minutes, havn't tested modem yet as my sim card is in my smartphone but will do that. Thanks a lot for all of your help! I will be hanin round here to help others. I AM SO HAPPY EVERYTHING IS FINE WITH MY LOVELY SHIFT! Updates Sucseeded and everything works perfect!
Only one more question: is it safe to install sp1? Or will that give problems with some of the drivers.

Glad you finally managed to get your Shift up to speed. I always felt that your peculiar issue boiled down to bad install which is confirmed by the first software you used. What type of disk did you use for the Hdd replacement - Hdd or SSd and for what capacity. Been thinking of upgrading but Ssd costs are still up there in teh skies and might not justify upgrading for the ageing Shift....
You can update to Service Pack 1 no problem. I have it and no issues at all.

I Bought the exact same drive on ebay for $30 or so. I solved the hard drive light staying on by just running CHKDSK but now the same programs just crash...
It now happens when trying to do a system score, when changing my network to public and when uninstalling a program using control panel. The rest all works fine.
hello my windows failed to boot after a removed recovery partition (only 16gb storage in these things) and ive had to reformat windows but i am missing one driver and that is the touch screen driver i have the hardware ID which is mssl 1680 ive had no luck up to now someone please help me
narrowed it down to silead gsl1680 but i can only find the linux driver but i need the windows driver if anyone can help me
I have the same problem, found an option in the bios for several different touchscreens but cant seem to get any to work, though i have got windows to recognise a limited multitouch display is available with one set of drivers?
can u send me in the right direction of these drivers ? please
https://www.dropbox.com/l/zpGVxajqWyXsohu4UewERr
In the TP folder. These are for the Linx 7" tablet from another website. I changed the touchscreen setting in the bios from mssl to goodix and installed these and now the pc info says limited 5 point multitouch available but i cant get the screen to register any touches. Im assuming there must be a controller driver missing or its the fact the screen is recognised as a generic pnp monitor that its not working?
dont suppose youknow how to clear cmos do u
No i dont Do you think that would help? I cant get the touchscreen to work for love nor money!
I'm sending my device into hipstreet but when I get it back I'll send u a full driver back up or I'll just buy a new one new week
That would be good of you, i'd be most grateful!
Does anybody have a solution for this?
yes i think set the screen to goodix and install the driver you can get it from hp

Is there any way you might be able to provide a recovery image/system restore point? Not all the drivers are installing for me. I get an error message that says:
"Information about devices is missing or damaged." Not sure what that's all about. It'd be awesome if you could create a restore point I could restore to.
EDIT: Update
So the HP Stream 7 Tablet has almost identical drivers. They all install very nicely and make my Hipstreet W7 run almost perfectly.
Those drivers can be found right here.
I highly recommend the first two things you install (in this order) are the Intel Chipset Driver, and Trusted Engine driver. Both are available from that link.
These two drivers seem to wake up/discover a bunch of hidden/inactivated 'devices' in the device manager list. It also give you your battery meter back and starts treating your tablet like a tablet again.
If you don't do these two first the other drivers from the HP Stream 7 page probably wont install correctly..
Funny enough one of the drivers from the HP Stream 7 page is the Goodix Touch Driver, but that alone isn't enough to get your touchscreen to work. (I've tried with both MSSL and GOODIX active in the BIOS). We also need something known as the 'KMDF HID Minidriver for Touch I2C Device'. I'm pretty sure this is the driver that is keeping all of our touch screens broken. I can't seem to find a Windows version anywhere and jleech1990's driver back up INCLUDES it but has no idea what to do with it. After installing the rest of the HP Stream 7 drivers there aren't any unknown devices left so I'm not sure where this goes without an executable package to install it with so this is where I'm stuck. I hope my update helps somebody get a little further. I put a few hours into this the past couple days.
jleech1990 if you ever do have the time (or even come back to read this thread again) and you can make a recovery image for us all I still think that would work better than any of this driver nonsense if you're willing!
That's all I got guys, I'll keep an eye on this thread for the next week or so to see if any of you come back.

Hi,
i have the same issue -- the response on the right side of the landscaped screen is mirrored. Still looking for a suitable touchscreen driver or driver update for Silead.
Hello, I have a tablet with Windows 10 1511 and a touch 10.1 MSSL1680 and I am in the same situation, the touch done anything! Anyone found a solution?
my tablet also has this issue - genuine Windows 8.1 w/ Bing was fine, but after fresh install of Windows 10 - touchscreen is some kind of mirrored...
I tried at least ten different drivers or FW-files, always rebootet and fully deleted the not working driver before. no success so far...
Still looking for the Silead for my tablet, a Proscan PLT7064-B-K
I thought I made a backup of the drivers but sadly seems like the touch screen driver got corrupted (left half of the screen is ok except for a small offset and right side of the screen is mirrored horizontally ie right side edge touch register in the middle of the screen and right side middle of the screen register on the edge...)
I can't seem to find the drivers for my tablet but in my search I found other Silead MSL1680 & GSL1680 drivers ... one of those drivers might be the ones that MJ-Tech uploaded, sorry, renamed a few folders for better organization and have lost track from where I got some of them!
Hope it helps some of you that are looking for those!!
Hello everybody, i had the same issue (x axis mirrored) and solved it extracting data from the restore data following these steps:
-used these files: www . dropbox . com /s/x0tuibvuz0fqxle/silead_reverse.zip?dl=0 <-without spaces
-from windows device manager uninstalled the current driver for silead touchscreen (checking delete driver software for this device)
-copied the files in the "copy" folder (from the zip) into the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder
-now going back to the windows device manager right clicked on the device -> update software driver -> find in the computer -> selected the "KMDF HID Minidriver for Touch I2C Device" folder (from the zip)
-rebooted and the touch screen worked perfectly

I have tested some versions, but not working. Latest unsigned works for me and i download it from here. Microsoft update catalog: http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=Touch I2C Device
I've had to do a fresh install of W10 on the MOMO8W which went however it obviously wiped all the drivers, it currently has no sound and (more importantly) no touch driver!
Looking in the Device Manager there are no yellow warnings of driver issues and it doesn't even now it's a tablet so doesn't detect the above hardware to use for me to install a driver (even if I could find them).
I found some drivers here:
https://translate.google.co.uk/tran...ofiversion/index.php?t659103.html&prev=search (scroll close to the bottom) but have no idea how to install them if the tablet doesn't detect the hardware to begin with as they are .cat .inf and .sys files!?!? no .exe.
Can someone please assist me if possible if not this tablet is useless to me
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Have just tried right clicking the .inf drivers that I think are for the touch, sound and battery, Windows tells me it installed OK but nothing changes and it doesn't work!
