Imperium rom, lock screen problem, update just the bootloader? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm new to the whole custom rom scene so far have tried cyanogen mod and wasn't happy with the battery life, so have tried imperium rom, and I'm happy with it other than the fact I can't set a pin on it, I can only lock it using a pattern.
If I try and set a pin it either doesn't recognise it's been set and just unlocks the phone as normal or it unmounts the sd card. I'm sure I read about updating the boot loader solving it, and this may sound like a silly question, but is that not part of the custom rom anyway? If not how do I go about updating just that?

Unique problem !

hello everyone...its been a while
i recently downloaded cm 12.1 for the 1st time just to give it a shot because i was tired of stock 4.4 performance. i decided to encrypt my phone and i opted for a 6x6 pattern on my lock screen and also when restarting device. after using cm for a few days i noticed i did not have the option to decrypt my phone which i knew was strange and also my gps was not locking onto locations, so i decided to revert back to stock firmware which atm is 5.01 for tmo...i flashed through odin and when i restarted my device it's asking me for a 4x4 pattern unlock instead of a 6x6 so im stuck....i need advice on how to wipe internal hd as im guessing thats where my problem is located. so for the time being there is no way for me to use my phone smh
thanks in advance and i hope someone can give a helping hand

Can't replicate. I'm not sure, but maybe try this:
Revert back to cm12 -> remove lock screen pwd -> odin stock?

Fingerprint after reboot for aosp?

Hey guys,
I just installed an aosp rom and I use my launcher to lock the screen as a device admin. On my touchwiz based rom there's a mod that allows fingerprint to be used even after a reboot so whenever I lock the device using the device admin I can still unlock using the fingerprint.
However I couldn't find something similar for aosp, it constantly requires me to put in the pin and that's a little irritating. Is there a mod that I'm supposed to install because I couldn't find it.
Thanks guys
Edit: got root

Fingerprint help on custom ROMs

Maybe I could get some help, long shot but maybe. I have been flashing roms for quite awhile, on 5+ phones to be exact. I can get EVERYTHING to work and run perfect except fingerprint only worked on first custom ROM flash, now none work. At all. When I try to add a fingerprint, It brings up the fingerprint image on screen and even reacts to me pressing but it will not register a fingerprint. No errors like, "partial fingerprint" or "Fingerprint not recognized" nor any confirmation. I've fastbooted back to several versions of OOS(9.0.11,9.0.12,etc.) on both partitions and tried and tried. Nothing. It still works 100% on stock. The weird part about custom now is when it tells me to setup a fingerprint, it says its located on the back of the phone but I remember my first custom flash said it was on screen.
I know the support is still new for custom with FP but nobody seems to be commenting these issues. Is it normal for right now?
Any support appreciated!

Did you solve your problem?
Which custom rom are you trying?
Did you flash the stock rom from the fastboot Rom Zip with the flash_all.bat way?
Before you flash a custom rom you should check the features lists/search the thread.
Most devs post in the OP if fingerprint works or not. And 9/10 the question has been asked and answered in the thread a few times.
I've done the flash_all_partitons.bat to go to complete stock. And nah it's not fixed, just living without it for now. I'm on luisroms RR build. I've tried I think just about all of them, no go.
And I have checked features and comments, why I'm posting here in questions, not in rom threads. All custom roms support FOD fingerprints now. Just not my phone it seems.
Weirdly TWRP can't decrypt my data on custom roms at all even though they support it. Thinking something the fastboot flashes don't touch is messed up somehow. Idk
I am having the same issue on the current Candy ROM. Screen flashes as if capturing a fingerprint but never does. FP is supported according to the dev and no one that I saw had this issue in the ROM thread. FP reader did work with OMNI and stock, of course. Thanks in advance for any help!

Rooting Galaxy S7 SM-G930T Oreo Help

I'm having trouble finding a root that works, unless I'm just doing something wrong. I have dev mode enabled with OEM unlocked and USB Debugging but it just keeps failing. I don't really want any custom features or roms at the moment, I'm fine with stock oreo. I just want to be able to move my apps onto the SD card and to use titanium backup to be able to properly back everything up. Though, I wouldn't be opposed to a custom rom as long as there's no major features that are missing like wifi calling n' such. I mainly want the phone to run smoother until I can replace it and using stock oreo feels pretty sluggish at times for no real reason and battery life sucks pretty bad, though that could just be a problem with the battery.

Same, I got this crappy update.
This might not be much help If you already known about this option since I'm in the same boat searching for the root solution on my device, but you could use Samsung's Smart Switch app to do the job somewhat.
Basically creates a manual backup on your phone to restore whatever you need it from it. Then you can just move to a newer phone & keep what was saved.
I'm unsure about deep drive of files being saved since I'm trying to do a recovery on my own.
As for the SD card you should be able to put them on It; if you selected the merge with internal memory card, but you have to keep the SD in for It to function right.
As for the battery & sluggish you could have less apps opened up, reduce screen brightness & reducing live notifications etc.
Replacing the battery will remove NFC function as well because it's attached to It.
Best of luck working with what is available.
Hey
You got a B Rev firmware, I think it's not possible to root from what I've read on other threads...
Did you manage to root it?? If so I'm interested in how

Password and decryption issue

For starters, ive been using the same lockscreen pin on ALL of my devices for the past3 years, I know im using the right one. I recently installed the Evolution ROM and set it up with fingerprint and PIN. Fingerprint was working just fine, I rebooted the phone after installing a magisk module and now its telling me the pin for the lockscreen and TWRP is wrong. Again, I only use ONE pin and its telling me its wrong. Tried deleting the locksettings.db file to take off the screen lock and that worked but now phone just stays on "Phone is starting" and TWRP is still excrypted but lets me see all of my files, correct storage amount, and install zips.
When you installed did you format data?
I know this says Lineage, but it works for most custom ROMs, post #2 has the cliff notes version: [Guide]Installing Lineage
As for the locksettings.db, this isn't like older Android devices. You can't just do that, it doesn't fix the problem here.
