I know there is no permanent root for the n910v note 4 but people have said that they can get temporary root with kingroot. I have the newest English version of the app and it won't give me temporary root. Does anyone know what version of the app that will work

Is there a preferred root method for the Verizon Galaxy Note 3 that will not trip Knox? I'm new to the root/dev scene, but I would like to root my device for mobile hotspot (I find that apps like FoxFi just don't work well). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Everything you need to know about rooting is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543386
Of you just want a hot spot then you can already do that without root without Verizon charging you if you are NOT on an unlimited data plan. If you are then follow the link above to root.

So I ended up having to go the Vroot method to root because Kingo wasn't working. The root was successful, and I have SafeStrap installed. The Vroot software installed another app that I can't seem to remove (all in Chinese characters), and it posts notifications every time I download something. I think it's some kind of superuser app, but I'd like to remove it in favor of one I can read. any thoughts on how to remove the app?
So in the Note 4 Dev page "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60610290&postcount=173" they have achieved root on KK (4.4.4) by using King Root. Unfortunately due to the status of the locked boot loader on the Note 4, it is only temp and will unroot the phone after a reboot. Has anyone with a Note 3 tried using King Root yet? And if so, do you only have temp root like the N4?
King Root works on generic 32 bit phones. Note 3 is a 32-bit phone
Instructions w/APK from another post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60612907&postcount=183
It failed on 4.4.4 NK1.
After the reboot, the app ran again automatically but failed again.
Now I'm uninstalling the app.

I have been reading up on the Note 4 forum on Xda and people are saying that it may take couple tries before root access is granted. *Must be online for the app to work, as it connects to their servers to see what exploits can be used to root the phone.
I m on 4.4.4 NJ6, i tried to root with kingroot but it seens that doesn't work
can also confirm that nk1 it did not work. I've even gone as far as trying the pingpong root and the root that the xperia recently got. We are all desperate.
Have any of you guys try opening king user after using kingroot and grant root permissions to something like root checker or does the app just fail while trying to obtain root?

I've tried using root checker after multiple root attempts and reboots and it always fails to verify.
I've tried King Root v4.1. Didn't work on NK1.

I can second that.
I can third that
kingroot wasn't able to root it in either attempt I made, 4.4.4 or 5.0 . I tried with both the android apk and the pc version. Its possible that it requires multiple attempts (its all in chinese so who knows what exploits it is trying)
I just got a replacement device and it came with 4.4.4 so I am hoping to find something to root. there doesn't seem to be anything that works yet.

Thanks for the update on your attempts, ACalcutt.
That's right, it is in Chinese. Who here can read it? I, for one, am curious to learn which exploits it is attempting.
Any updates on this? I have an opportunity to get a Note 3 with NJ6 on it for free from a friend... will Kingroot work? I've kept my finger on the pulse of the Note 4 forums, and I'd do kingroot and then supersume, if it would work.
Thanks!

Ha... thanks for the update on root. The phone is going to my wife after she dropped her G3 in the tub... but thanks for the offer.
Or at least a way to install a custom rom on a galaxy note 3 running 4.4.4
Simple asnwer, nope. If you check this forum people already established that...
I know a guy who change the language it means he have a way to root the note 3 Verizon and I have a friennd how have a rooted note 3 sm-n900v 4.4.4 .But he get it from china so they can root it in china . So why there is nobody can do it here in xda or just try to figure the method to do so.
Note: he change the language for the note 3 that it is not built in with the system.
Plz somebody findout a way.
Well you should ask this friend then and share with everyone instead of asking here because if someone on here knew how I'd be out their already for all of us to use but noones cracked it yet..it sucks

Because this is the Verizon version. The bootloader is locked and can not be unlocked.
As far as I can find...there is no root method for the Verizon Note 4 or Note 5.

Root is over for this device. If you buy this version of the Note with 4.4.4 & up you will lose any ability to root, permanently. If it's that important to you search on Swappa or Fleabay for a model that has 4.4.2 or lower OS.
There really should be a sticky note with this headline as it seems this question keeps getting asked. I think some hope the more the question gets asked, sooner or later the answer will change.
im on nc4 (4.4.2)
i didnt know there was a android 5 out.
if i want to manually update from 4.4.2 rooted to 4.4.4 where do i get the verizon 4.4.4 tar at?
Note 4 6.0.1 N910A (AT&T)
Has there been a way to root this yet? I dont want to end up bricking this phone. I dont exactly have enough to buy another at the moment.
I remember that you need to go back to 4.4.4 - and there is root possible. NOT SURE ABOUT IT!
Edit 1: try to read this - https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/supersu-please-t3110954

No root for At&T if you are on.lollipop or higher.
Only for kitkat you can root.
Best suggestion will be Just sell it and get Tmobile/verizon/sprint/international any 1 of these you can root easily
