[BOOTLOADER UNLOCK] G4 H815 only as 6-2-15 - G4 General

Note directly from LG: "Once your phone is unlocked, it will no longer be covered by LG warranty.
As we cannot guarantee the proper operation of our hardware with custom software, we are not able to maintain the full scope of warranty for your device after you have unlocked the bootloader.
Because of that we have a responsibility to let you know that defects which may result from, or were caused by custom device-software may not be covered by LG warranty."
For all the G4 H815 (European variant) owners you are the lucky ones that start the official unlocking only based on the site. Hopefully LG decides to also make this possible for the US variants as soon as possible.
To any devs that can make this possible for the Verizon, AT&T and other carriers we look forward to all the possibilities this opens. All we need is root and custom Roms and we are as good as gold.
Thing are looking very promising out of the gate with the LG G4 and I am thoroughly impressed by the level of maturity and respect LG has given us in this regards.
Enjoy!

Us t-mobile giveway to developer

I am giving away a new S7edge to a developer of my choice to work on and create root/unlock for the snapdragon version.
If you feel you are competent enough to provide root for this device then send me a PM.
If you feel you know a dev that can do it if they had the device in hand then post their name here in this thread or send me a PM. In the end I choose who gets it based on their background. I will pay for shipping, etc for the developer of choice. All I ask is for you to work diligently on this device.
This device is the future of locked, unrootable devices. The sooner we get through this barrier the better for the sake of all future devices. This isn't the end, only the beginning.
There will be no developer bashing in this thread and will have this thread closed immediately if it happens.
Good offer! This giveaway plus the bounty would hopefully entice someone. It's a good chunk of $$$!! I really hope someone with enough time and smarts would find root. I can live with TW as long as it is rooted (I'm a rooted 930F user). See T-Mobile Galaxy S7 Edge and AT&T forums for the bounty threads. I think there is another thread on the Sprint S7 forum as well.
OP's giveaway is for an SM-G935T, Qualcomm SnapDragon SD 820 Galaxy S7 Edge. All US variants are the same (SM-G935T/A/P/V) . A root for SM-G935T should work on the regular US S7 as well (SM-G930T/A/P/V). It is bootloader-locked and it will remain so unless Samsung releases an unlock, but due to the way the BL was locked, it would be near impossible anyway. So, no custom ROM.
It may be rootable if a stable exploit can be found. Folks have been comparing the US SnapDragon to Chinese SnapDragon S7, but it is not comparable. Here is a good summary regarding the bootloader situation:
mathieulh said:
The CROM lock does not exist on non-Chinese bootloaders
Samsung's Chinese handsets bootloaders have in 3 types of bootloader locks, the carrier lock, the CROM lock (which is enabled if the Chinese bootloader does not find the "KIWIBIRD" string written in the STEADY partition), and the reactivation lock, they are not carrier locked.
U.S. variants only have the Carrier and reactivation locks, there is no CROM lock to unlock on these devices (or any international variants either), U.S. variants are however carrier locked, the lock is hardcoded in the bootloader code (there is just no execution path to load an unsigned kernel on the consumer carrier locked variant bootloaders, there is no "lock" Qfuse anymore, the bootloader itself just has no carrier unlocking/locking support, it is always locked by design) and the bootloader is tied to the device ID, for example SM-G935F (which is One Time Programmable) and will refuse to run on anything but the device id that is hardcoded within it, obviously the bootloader is signed so you can't modify it, there is also a revocation mechanism involving Qfuses to make sure you can't downgrade to a vulnerable version (should one exist).
There are presumably Engineering versions of the bootloader that allow running unsigned kernels but those have not been leaked and they probably won't run on devices for which the production mode Qfuse has been blown (the device is in Engineering mode when that Qfuse is not set).

Unlock LG V20 H910c

Hello Everyone...
Please let me begin by saying thank you to you all on XDA what an amazing resource for one another and especially idiot novice like myself...lol...also I am sorry if I am going about this question incorrectly, I am not sure of the decorum. I have tried and failed very badly in the past to unlock and root several models including my lasy V10 H901 (now useless as a result) and now I have a LG V20 H910 from AT&T...I desperately need to unlock the phone so that I can use it with another carrier while I am at home in Canada for the next month on family business...I have LGUP and simply need idiot proof directions and the downloads...can anyone help PLEASE...Thanks in advance for your time and consideration...

Carrier unlocking your device is fairly easy. You can submit a request on AT&T's website (att.com/deviceunlock) - and you should receive a unlock code you type into the dialer. (At least that's how I remember I did it last time I did a carrier unlock on my device)
Note this is not the same thing as rooting/bootloader unlocking. Carrier unlocking simply lets you use your device on other carrier's networks.

Purchasing advice regarding variants (MEGATHREAD?)

I am coming from the Samsung line, Note 4 to be exact. I know I will be purchasing the v20, as it is the spiritual successor to the Note 4, to me.
I have been browsing the forums here and doing some reading, I see that the v20 is in it's infancy with root/developers breaking into nougat.
I try to find some answers, and I am unable to fully relinquish all my questions.
From what I understand the American models have unlocked bootloaders via Dirty Santa method, and two korean models if I am correct.
My questions are, which model should I buy? I want to have the model that has the MOST developer support. As I have the Exynos Korean model of my Note 4, and the development/custom roms and the like for my model are pretty non-existent, and it sucks.
From what I've read so far, if you want root, unlocked bootloader and the like, to steer clear of Dual Sim v20's. If this is true, what is the reason?
I was looking on the LG site and saw they are offering the US996 (unlocked) with a 200gb SD card.
Does 'unlocked' mean that it is SIM unlocked or Bootloader unlocked?
If it's just SIM unlocked, is there ANY model that has Bootloader unlocked from the factory? (and will it have the support of developers, with custom roms and the like?)
Or is the US996 my best bet at unlocked and most widely supported v20.
Lastly, I see there will be a Turkey model release, international sim.
Should I wait around for these other v20's to pop up before purchasing? (I am in no rush to upgrade from note 4, but excited for new v20.)
Thank you everyone for your time in reading this.
I hope this thread helps all newcomers who want to hop on the v20 train.
TL;DR - What is the best model phone to purchase, that will have most DEV support?
The US996 model can be bootloader-unlocked directly from LG.

Right, I saw that! It says it voids manufacturers warranty though. So what if I purchased another variant and unlocked bootloader and sent it in if I messed it up. Would it be a possible gamble of them fixing it vs them knowing my phone is bootloader unlocked because I officially unlocked it via website?
Or should I just purchase based 3rd party warranty, (such as square trade) and not worry about it?

Question about root timeframe

So now the v30 is announced now and will soon be available to purchase my question is in regards to LG root time frame on new devices. I know each device can have it's own time before root can be achieved, Based on the V10 and V20 root method how long generally does it usually take to find out if root is even possible?
1) in past experience between V10 and V20 how long was it generally from release date to root method? few weeks, months?
2) has G6 been rooted at all? gives kinda an indication if root would be possible in V30
Thanks for the help, again, not asking a ETA or anything like that, just want to know on past experiences with the V10 & V20 how long it took before root was possible and if root is even possible or not.
If you get a V30, you might want to get the carrier free model straight from LG. No carrier branded LG G6 has been rooted yet, and since even T-Mobile no longer allows the bootloader to be unlocked, even if a kernel exploit is found (like dirtycow), you will also need someone to leak a engineering bootloader like they did for the V20. If someone wouldn't have come up with the eng. aboot, the only two V20s that would have root are the H918 and US996.
Have a look-e-see yourself: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/development
The only model that has root is the US997 carrier free version that LG allows for the bootloader to be unlocked.

Get used to the idea root aint happening. If it does, its a bonus. You are looking at it wrong.
Or, get an HTC.

Make DirtySanta unofficial unlock work on LG G5

Hi!
Since LG shut down their services to officially unlock boot in December 2021, we have to deal otherwise.
In the past DirtySanta was able to unlock LG V20 H990 independently. We need to expand this method for ours LG G5, including H850 and others. These phones are similiar and comes from the same period, it might be possible.
[ROOT] DirtySanta comes for the H990
Took a while to work things out, but DirtySanta has been successfully extended to international versions of the LGE V20. While I have tried to ensure this works for anyone, this may fail. I also do not provide any warranty! The result of a...

For now this seems as the best option.
It seams it was already adapted to branded versions of LG G5, can it be used on rest of them?
[GUIDE] Full ADB Root, System RW, and DM-VERITY Off for Sprint LG G5! [ZV4]

Good to know someone did it !
I'm stuck with locked bootloader and from my searches, LG does not want to deal with only a few people asking stuff about a 5 years old devices.
Keep me informed if there's some news !
I like this idea and would really appreciate bootloader unlock for H850 international models
I would love that as well, I'm trying to get a G5 H850 refurbished. It makes me reallly angry at LG, because without custom ROMs this phone is just landfill material.
Please kind developers,, help us save this phone from the trash!
