N910c banking apps when rooted - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
Had my 910c for a few months now and considering rooting. Android 5.0.1
Sad to see There's no way to avoid tripping knox yet and if I read correctly it's not likely coming soon. [emoji27]
Before I take the plunge and root anyway I need to run my banking apps for UK nationwide and bank of Scotland (Halifax )
Does anyone know if any of the root hiding methods do work ?

Will the banking app not work if your phone is rooted?? If I remember correctly, they will still wotk. I use hsbc and bank of america on my rooted S4

Both nationwide and Halifax banking apps look for root and refuse to work. So some method of cloaking needs to be used I assume

You need to install Xposed (with twrp or cwm) and install Root cloak.

Information seems a little sketchy on compatibility.
Xposed for n910c on lollipop 5.0.1 exynos is it working.
And does it work on a standard rom rooted with cfroot or does it need a custom rom . Odexed or deodexed

requires a deodex rom of any kind

[Q] n900 root

Hi, i think a lot of n900 users which are gonna be extremely happy if they can root their N900 without using CF-Root (No offense to Chainfire, he is one the best dev) since it will trip that stupid KNOX warranty bull**** (i would love to use custom kernels and don't even bother to trip the knox, but hey the parts for this phone aint cheap ).
I was thinking of downgrading to an earlier version of kitkat built before June. Then using towelroot to obtain root. Any ideas if it will work?
And yes i've searched the entire web for a way and this is the only possible way i can think of. The N9005 is rooted with the same approach, except instead of downgrading the whole phone, they downgrade the FW, root it using towelroot, and then upgrade to the stock FW.
Since i'm a noob in extracting the FW, on behalf of N900 users, we hope a dev can help. Btw i know most dev's out there need some coffee or beer (willing to donate)

[Q] GT-i9506 Safe root

Hello
My S4 got lollipop this weekend, (I9506XXUDOA6) and i want to root it without tripping knox. Is there any way to do this? Ive tryed towelroot or kingoroot but nothing worked
thanks in advance
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't believe you can downgrade the Android 5.0.1 modem to an earlier version and root using Towelroot. CF Autoroot still works, but it will trip Knox.
Yes thats the case.. I dont want to trip knox and i wont try to downgrade the modem.. Ok maybe patience is what i need
Im just facing some curious lags on my phone that have no sense... For example in the recent apps, on facebook, on messenger, and on swiftkey keyboard.. But i have to admit that battery is at its best. On kitkat with normal use, the phone was dead for about 20 hours, and now on lollipop for about 2 and a half days i guess? Does anyone know how to fix those lags or minimize them?
My main concern, and something I'll have to do further research into, is whether I'd lose my SIM unlock on an upgrade. I used RegionLock Away to unlock my S4 after repairing it. The unlock survived the restoration of Android 4.4.2, but I have my concerns as to whether it would survive an upgrade to 5.0.1. Especially as downgrading the modem apparently is not possible.
It might simply be easier for me to find a custom Touchwiz ROM and install it instead, but there aren't many of them as of yet.
Can anyone confirm that there is no way to saferoot a s4 lte-a with official lollipop?

[Q] Upgrade to OC4 from KK ANI2?

I'm way behind. Still on ANI2 ( KK 4.4.4 ) with root, tether mod and no knox tripping and using Xposed.
I would like to update to the latest OC4 ( 5.0 LP ), however I am unsure how to even go about it.
I know I can just remove root and restore the phone to factory. However my issue comes when I update.
Can I root easy without worrying about Knox?
Can I still use Xposed ( I read info saying I can, but doesn't hurt to double check).
Do I need a flashed file for tethering or can I use Xposed?
Lastly...SHOULD I update?
I've read the views and people trying to downgrade because of the battery life, freezing or slow running apps.
Thank you

Here's instructions to update to OC4 and have root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3068546 . Knox won't be tripped and Xposed doesn't work on Samsung Lollipop devices yet. There's also a link in the notes for native tethering.

[Q] Rooting Canadian Note 3 Lollipop 5.0 N900W8 (N900W8VLU2DOC4)

Hi guys,
as the title says I need to root my Canadian Note 3 Lollipop 5.0 N900W8 (N900W8VLU2DOC4).
So far I saw this post, do you think it will work before I even try out because I am scared to brick my phone.
Any help with files links are appreciated. I know chainfire haven't come up with 5.0 for Canadian note 3. Please help if there is any other alternative to root it.
Thank you all!!!
I can confirm that I flashed TWRP on a stock 5.0 N900W8 (Bell) via Odin, but I did not root. I tried, but the SuperSU I installed didn't take. If I had seen the post you linked to, I would have tried that file, though.
For me, without Xposed, I don't see a reason to root. Maybe once they get a functional non alpha version up and going I might go back. I just disable and hide the bloat.
I used Xposed before too, so you saying Xposed doesn't work with Note 3 Lollipop rooted ?
Moreover I wish someone can input more to this thread to atleast I can root it for now and then when Xposed become compatible I will install that.
My main reason to root is to install Adblocker via Xposed framework.
Thanks

According to the official Xposed thread:

"Known issues:
- It seems to boot loop on Samsung stock ROMs"
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... But they are working on it. If it's that important you can always try a different ROM
Thanks for the reply!, I guess after rooting I can always goto another custom ROM, but will miss touchwiz.
All I want to accomplish is good adblocking, which I found xposed did good job.

So, there isnĀ“t a safe way yet to root the n900w8? I have this version, but I'm from Mexico, my bootloader is N900W8UBU2DOE4, I don't know if this makes a difference about the rooting process...
Hope you can help me.

I had some memory issue and had to do an update, which took out my root as well. I can't root it either. :crying:

Rooted S5 on 4.4.2 - where do I go next?

I haven't touched my S5 (G900F) since I rooted it 3.5 years ago. At the time I was careful to retain KNOX.
Now I'm looking to upgrade - found a thread allowing me to put Android 5.0 on it pretty easily but it that the latest I can safely use?
Also, I assume that anything other than flashing a Stock Rom will result in the loss of KNOX - is that something I should worry about given that the warranty on the phone is long expired? Do any apps check KNOX and refuse to run if broken (e.g. Paypal and other Banking apps)?
If I should retain KNOX, what ROM should I be flashing?
If KNOX doesn't matter any more, then is there a debloated Stock ROM available for the S5?

If you are already rooted, a custom OS shouldn't affect it, if the OS wants you to update SU after installation, you may want to look at magisk when you run the OS. Do a nandroid back up before you do this.
OK - thanks for the input - a few things to clarify:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-root-triggering-knox-2nd-method-t2843044
Suggests that to FLash Android 5 WITHOUT triggering KNOX, I need to see https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/rom-ane4-kitkat-4-4-2-multi-csc-t2813628
The link is clearly out of date though as the latter is now at Android 6.01, but more importantly, the latter states that Installation is via CMW/TWRP recovery and KNOX is triggered.
Presumably I need to flash the new ROM from within the current ROM - what's the best software for that - I found Flashfire, but it was a post dated 2015.
