New Update 2.19.40.22 (2nd July) - Release notes Added

Today got new update 2.19.40.22
30mb Package
1 Add kill switch (Anti-theft) function for US and Canada regulation.
2 Improve modem capability in India
3 Fixed the issue that cannot phone with Tailand True Provider SIM1.

Just updated to .22 from .20 and now I am having bootloops.
What I did;
1: uninstalled Busybox
2. Left root on
Bootloop.
Tried to clear cache. Still bootlooping.

downloading now! Hope they continue making the phone better and software optimized.

Why did you left root on? You know, for sure, that yuou have to unroot first before updating.

arrrgh. laziness.
I am sideloading the original FW ver. 2.19.40.18 (1.15GB) now. So now it is unrooted. Then update to .20 then to .22, then root again. What a waste of time. Should have unrooted first. haha.

How do you sideload flash? So is it like flashing stock?

Yup. Something like that.
In order to fix mine and bring back alive.
1. Download the latest FW for the ZE551 from the Zenfone 2 support page of Asus India.
2. Install TWRP
3. Format /system and /data via TWRP
4. Flash the latest firmware .20 downloaded above.
Back in business. Bootloader still unlocked. I will try to update to .22 later. Hope everything goes well or else back to square one.

I found the update summary on asus Chinese site. Translating it into English:
1. The United States and Canada software get new security feature Kill switch
2. Improve India's 3G signal data Capability
3. Fix Thailand Provider True SIM1 not able to make call

Yeah, and now everyone will have to in the future. When it comes to California, any such law they pass ends up standard...irritating.

Try putting your imei in here : http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/
And see what firmware version it reports

At 66% now. Will confirm back once update. Surely just an interim update though.

That could explain it. I've never bothered to check what version it was on, assuming it to be 5.1, but it's only 5.0. Seems GiffGaff are a bit slow maybe.

The update actually broke some things
For me the update broke the System Panel (essentially a task manager) app. The list of running processes now contains only the System Panel itself, which is frustrating to say the least.
Generally it fixed some things and it broke others. LG is really bad at software...

Is there any point letting this install? It download (very slowly) last night. If it's going to break things there doesn't seem much point. Just wait for MM... (or will MM only install if the current installed os is up to date??).

It is impossible that you were on 5.1.1 with the D855 model.

You need to update it otherwise when MM comes you need to do all the updates which were released before MM

Are we sure that the G3 will get MM?

Just got this ota myself. Very weird as 20b was, until recently, offered via LG Bridge.
What a mess LG

Strange they are actively working on both versions.
The battery improvements would apply more to 20b than to 10e.

Have either of you installed the update yet? I assume from the version number that it is still LP but can you confirm?

I also received V10F this morning for my TWN.

I just downgraded to V10e from V20b just now. Wow. Okay. A 400mb update.

First impressions are very promising on my device..........who needs Marshmallow?

Same. Amazing battery life.
Screen on for almost 2 hours. It was at 80% and I updated to V10f and now it's down to 50%.
That's mind-blowing.

EDIT: Nvm, told me my device is suspected in rooting and won't run. Guess I'll have to wait for the img and use FlashFire. Where da Scotsman at?

Has anyone had any luck pulling the system image off the phone? For me "send_command" is returning immediately and not doing anything. I could try cracking open the kdz to get the image and inject root but I expect the same problem that's preventing me pulling the image will also prevent me flashing the rooted image.

Hmmm interesting. Immediately after starting "send_command" I can run simple commands like "ls" without any problem. As soon as I try "dd" it returns without doing anything and "ls" no longer works. Something crashing maybe?

Huh, maybe everything is ok afterall. I left the phone alone while typing that post and for the hell of it decided to try "ls" again and it worked. I was sure "send_command" blocked until it had completed? If not that's a bit of a trap. What are other peoples experiences?

Should be fine. I've tried European kdz's on my TWN device without a problem so doing the opposite should be ok.
You always have an escape route with LG up and the correct kdz of course.

10f TWN successfully rooted. Here you have both H81510F_00_0113.kdz and rootedsystem.img for it.

They first released V20B and they removed it.Now LG is releasing V10F?

Okay. This is beautiful. After a whole day, my phone has given me 4 hours of screen-on time. My battery is still at 35%.
V10f is the best firmware for this phone. There's hardly anything new in Lollipop and I won't be updating as I am very satisfied.

You do lose everything when you downgrade. In the LG Up thread it says you can use LG Backup in the current version and Restore in the new version. My experience was files and apps got restored but no settings (restore refused to restore settings because of the different Android versions). Also, my multiple recipient received MMSs came back as single recipient (as sent only to me and not the group).

update to marshmallow or stay on lollipop?

I have a factory unlocked g3 d855(32 gb).I wanted to update to marshmallow, so I've done some searching, and people reported a lot of bugs. They also mentioned bug fixes to some of the problems, but it doesnt feel worth it. Can anyone who has experienced the official marshmallow update please advise? Is it worth the update?

Its really worth it, trust me.
And if you don't like it, you can always downgrade.

Yes it is definitely worth it. There are some bugs but the improvements over lollipop outweigh them for sure!

I would say not for the moment
I have 2 phones both with 30b stock firmware, wi-fi is driving me nuts, once the screen is off, wi-fi is off, also wi-fi disconnects randomly when using the phone; new graphics and menu are nice, but wi-fi problems are a major bust (I have tried a major of tips and tricks for this problem but still no solution)
I will try the new 30n stock firmware and see if it fixes the issue, if not, I am back on lollipop

From (D855/32G) Lollipop V21a to MM v30A / Limitless ROM 10.3.
Very much better battery endurance !!!!
From my side and my usage ... no bug - just one about audio record feature but as usual a guy in XDA gives the solution : how to solve audio record issue: HERE for how to do and HERE to download needed files

I request all developers who are working for ROMS to consider H990DS also..... please please please try for H990ds models

I have been keenly waiting for custom roms too and a kerner that doesn't changes my phone model so that I can come back to stock and update. Stock rom sucks as it lags and freezes quite often

Maybe you should try a factory reset to refresh your device. I'm on a H990DS with the stock TWN ROM, un-rooted. Absolutely no lags, freezes, etc.

You should see an oreo update from LG or carrier. But don't hold your breath waiting for a custom rom.

Here's a screenshot of the software info page on my device. Apart from a few software updates early on this is the software my V20 came with. A factory reset really helped improve performance

Twn v10i is flawless except for i am having a issue
May be one carier i am using is having a diffrent frequency
I get gud signals with vodafone but with airtel it suffers in closed locations signals are weak
Any idea if separate indian radio can be flashed in stock?
