Simple answer - NO.
When a new software release is made for an OS, all the developers would have done is test it on a very few devices within the developers and then roll it out to testers. And after analyzing the bugs identified from these testers, the developers sit on fixing it and finally come up with a release. Now would this release be bug-less? Absolutely not! Remember, its only been tested amongst a very few number of people and the rolling out happens to thousands residing in different parts of the world. If you think about it, what these updates are gonna deal with is a varied number of users, different carriers, sim make etc etc.
Take for example, for Indian users, the 4.4.2 update has been rolled out for quite a while. Lots of bugs were identified since then and the forum managers have been collecting data from the subscribers for quite a while now (Almost 4 months). Still the fix has not happened. And now 4.4.4 is out and issues persist.
I hvae been using 4.3, 4.4.2, then CM11, Mokee ROM etc etc, and now Im finally back to stock 4.3, coz thats the most stable version. So if you are someone who is interested in trying out new releases, please go ahead, but if you are someone who needs a stable ROM with no signal drop issues, please stick to 4.3.
totally disagree. I have european version Moto G with stock 4.4.2 and everything is working perfeclty. Try to wipe you Moto or flash any other rom.
seems like pebkac not buggy firmware . otherwise every single guy would be facing same problems and that's not happening .

Just to clarify, did you receive an update package sometime after the primary update?
4.4.3 works fine on my US GSM moto G. But it might be different for others.
Also, add a warning to the OP that if you're already on 4.4.3+, you can't downgrade anymore. Motoboot from 4.4.3+ doesn't seem to like downgrading anymore, unfortunately.
4.2.2 works great, no signal drops or anything. Waiting for eupean 4.4.4. :good:

Question is whether downgrading is possible from 4.4.4 ?
I totally agree to ovitz. Updates are supposed to fix issues with older versions of the software. My moto came with 4.4.2 and i never had issues with signal drops. I am from India. Btw it's always better to reset phone after the update.
I agree with you OP on some extent. I also recently downgraded to 4.3 from 4.4.2 just for the lulz, because I was getting "image is too large" error but surprisingly today the flashing was successful. The battery timing has improved, dialer app is cooler than that of the 4.4.2. I'm finding these changes quite interesting because I didn't stay with 4.3 for too long; my Moto G received the KitKat update the moment I powered it on for the first time.

While I do agree with you for most of what you said, not everyone has bugs or issues with their phones on 4.4.3/4.4.4 upgrade. I myself has had one bug that came with the phone since 4.3 and it's worst now on 4.4.3 and ironically, I've gotten all the bugs on the 4.4.3 that others were getting on 4.4.2. I ended up putting on CM11 because it was getting to me.
P.S. It's impossible to downgrade from 4.4.3/4.4.4. I would love to downgrade back to 4.3. Never got the chance to see how it behaved on my phone because I updated to 4.4.2 the moment I booted for the first time.
Did I mention the "Sign in to WiFi" error on the 4.4.2? That's annoying as hell.

It is possible!, download the 4.4 official ROM and do a fastboot and install all the IMG files.
Thats how I did it,

but you can't downgrade the bootloader, so didn't you get any errors?
Not that guy, Don't touch the motoboot and you should be fine
There's no point of updating your phone unless youare receiving it over OTA. Doing it manually is risky. The only thing that you'll get is new AOSP dialer and few security fixes. There's no reward..no improvement in performance as well as in camera quality. People are reporting bugs all over the globe and they desperatly want to switch back to 4.4.2. Few have them are also facing downgrading issues.
And you want to go through all this for just a minor update? Android L could be a good reason as it is worth updating even after bugs. But a minor update is definitely not.
If some one will ask me which is best ROM for my moto g? I would say Stock 4.4.2. I tried all custom ROMs but no one was as smooth as stock 4.4.2.
Consequences be damn'ed.
Simple answer- yeah, well, that's just like your opinion man.
Indian user. Unlocker my bootloader, Converted to GPE while on 4.4.2. The GpE move was made partly because I had jo desire nor the use if a second sim and mostly because I wanted a clean OS. Period.
Got instant OTA update to 4.4.4 to the day it was pushed.
No issues so far, None in fact and it's been over a week or thereabouts(I admit to the likelihood of me being an isolated case)
Lastly, to each his own.
Android is meant to be taken care of AS WELL tinker every single detail or option if you have the cojones for it. Ciao.

I have just upgrade to 4.4.4 XT1033 (Malaysian), noted the missing 2 empty simcard icone and new rather flat dialer! nothing much has changed and certainly hasn't noticed any issue mentioned herein!
If one were to go by op opinion then they would be using 4.3 for the rest of the devices life ! I wonder what his comment would be once L comes to our device.
I have to disagree the OP as an xt1033 owner since march 2014.
Android 4.4.4 OTA for moto g helps fix various sw issues and increased performance, new baseband to aid the radio issues. Media playback is improved. The device is more of a swiss-tool now.

Hi all,
I got a notification on my G2 D802 to update to 5.0 lollipop a while ago but wondering if its safe to do so. I goggled it and found out that some people had some major issues with battery drain and bad wifi performance. Anyway I proceeded to download the LG PC suite to still give it a try however I got this message on startup. " Android 5.0 Lollipop guide
Date : 2014.11.27
For phone or tablet with Android 5.0 Lollipop or later,
phone or tablet will not back up or restore properly due to security on Android.
Refrain from use.
"
Now I am really thinking twice lol.. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is it safe to update? Can anyone did it before can advice me?
Q&A not dev section
Crap. Sorry didnt realize.
It's OK go and update it. But if you are happy with Kitkat then don't update it.
Even i was in same situation but then i went n tried updating using pc suit. Cudnt be successful as it started showing error while downloading multiple times.Any advice?
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Free mobile app
Hmmm. You tried doing a factory reset before updating?
I had recently bought LG G2 D802 phone this month and I wanted to upgrade it to possibly Android 4.4 Kitkat from Android 4.2 Jellybean So, I went to 'Update Center > Software Update in phone settings.
The update is known as:
"v20a-MAR-07-2014 (534.84 MB)"
Firstly, I would like to know whether this Kitkat or lollipop or whatever update it is?
After a few megabytes of downloading, the native download manager reports an error "Cannot download" and there's no way to resume it from where it left. I have tried this process many times and every time it failed and I am sure there's nothing wrong with my Wi-fi.
While I was looking for an alternative way to manually grab this update via PC, I tried "LG PC Suite" to check for updates which said that: "2 upgrades are available" and the latest version is lollipop as the picture in attachment shows. but I only wish to upgrade to Kitkat OS. Is possible that I just disconnect my phone from PC Suite after it finishes applying only just one upgrade and not the lollipop upgrade?
Most likely it's Kitkat. Lollipop for G2 is named like V30A, V30B, V30D and so on. You can download KDZ file for your device and flash it.
URL: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=123123123
You have to replace 123123123 with your device's IMEI.

You can only download the newest available KDZ on the linked page. Probably not KK, since it's not the newest available for the D802.
Search around a bit. You should be able to find the KK KDZ for the region you want linked somewhere on xda. Just refer to the sticky post regarding flashing a KDZ.
And no you shouldn't disconnect your device during the update. Also the DL is failing because KK isn't available through LG servers anymore.
Happy upgrading

It sounds like a bad news that they have taken down the link from their Official website. So far the phone is working just fine and I am not sure if I should even update the phone to anything since many of the users from the forums all over the internet (as I have read) are complaining about how the updates ruined their phone (I assume especially the G2) and brought so many disappointing bugs to deal with.

AFAIK most bugs plaguing KK got fixed in the end. I remember downgrading from KK to JB because of some audio issues. They are now not present anymore, and KK is as stable as it gets. It even performed better than JB (the ui used to animate way too quickly so it looked laggy, and fixed the microstuttering in most apps).
I would personally recommend KK. Have had some problems with LP, where it wouldn't run as smoothly and the battery life was a tad worse, so now I'm back on KK.

Just tried and it dosent work. Now there are two options:
1.Use Kingoroot
2.Wait for exploit that works with Android 6.0
The second option seems to be more logical since the Marshmallow update was released 2 days ago.
i don't have any update yet, on lg bridge too :/

I think Play will be the last carrier to release Android 6.0 for this phone. You have to wait. If you are rooted then dont update or else you risk bricking your phone.
if it is true, pleake post screenshot with marshmellow on k420n
Guys, I don't suggest you to root your device. Marshmallow has Android Boot verification. What's it? It checks the all partitions if anything changed from stock. If it sees somethings has changed, might block your device. I just warn you, be careful and know what you'll do.
Yes I'm with 'berkantlz'. Chainsfire has developed a new way to successfully root Android 6.0 by not modifying the /system partition, but this is only for certain devices.
If anyone want to update to Android 6.0.1 on LG K10, it's OK. But by now DON'T TRY TO ROOT IT.

I forgot to mention but Android 6 is only available (by now) por certain phone companies, not all, even if you bought the same model.
But you have available to download and install Android 6.0.1 KDZ file from (Orange = Spain and Plus = Poland) companies, that if is not the official LG firmware (without phone's companies bloatware), you could install the last android version for it phone model.
For links, visit the LG K10 WhatsApp Group.
When called in to lg netherlands cust support today to ask for the carrier-free update status they told me the guys in seoul still had to test some things before they flip the switch. So lets hope the korean todo list is not too long...

LG K10 (K420n)Poland Plus , yesterday received 6.0 (778mb ota) V20B
see screenshot
Play (Poland) have got the v20b too
K430TR Turkey model has got V20y yesterday. It's already shipped with 6.0 but yeah
I have a marshmallow for about a week and i can say something about that
The first is battery, it's working shorter (Screen-On-Time 3h 30m) but Doze mode is perfect
I have got themes option and SmartWorld (i know it was in LP already but my carrier turned it off) and many new functions.
Light sensor and VPN works better.
Now On Tap worked good too but it turned off and i don't know how to turn it on back.
What about performance? The same like in LP, but it seems to me that animations is bit longer than on LP (just longer animations, no lags). Antutu? LP - 28k pts, MM - 27k pts.
After update i had problem with refreshing available wi-fis list and bluetooth just turning off after trying to connect with a speaker but hard reset helped and i haven't this problems now.
On LP i had lags on opening notifications panel with the navbar button, on MM it works perfect.
When I poweroff the screen and poweron back, i had about 1-2% of battery less. MM - no problem with this.
Don't Disturb Mode is quite difficult to use but works fine.
If you have questions ask here.
@edit my friend with nonbrand K10 (Poland) said that his phone is getting charged faster

Hello,
I would like please to upgrade my advent tegra note 7 from kitkat to lollipop.
Iam actually on Kitkat 4.4.2, i really don't know how to begin. I maked different research but i didn't find clear toturials on that subject, only ressources files like OTA, firmware ,Rom ..etc but i don't know how to use these files .
Please if someone can help me on that , iam open for all solutions ..
I have a file named "Stock-5.1-3.0-TegraNote7" and i think it's to main file i need to upgrade to lollipop , but i don't know how to use it .
Thank you !!
Why can't you OTA upgrade? Also, there have been many issues with 5.1 and you loose the built in screen casting as well as the power controls. If 4.4.2 works good then don't bother upgrading, at least not to the stock 5.1.
A bit late in the day but.....DON'T DO IT!
I did much to my regret a few years back and, if you did and like me consigned it to the back of a drawer... or the attic.. Fear not.
Dig it out the drawer and do this;
