Anyone know how to enable text notification sounds while the text window is open?
It makes a sound when it's closed, but if I'm talking to someone and I leave the SMS window open, the texts arrive but there is no sound to tell me
Using the Stock Lollipop SMS app

I have lost the sound notification for incoming text messages. All the boxes are ticked in the settings - sound and notifications - notification window but nothing happens, it doesn't even vibrate.
Works OK for incoming voice calls, Anybody got any ideas please?
Is there any way to edit the sent notification of text messages as with the sound it plays? I am starting to get aggravated putting my phone on vibrate or muting all notifications Thanks.
Click on Start->Settings->Persoanal->Sounds & Notifications. Choose the Notifications tab then choose the event you want to change from the drop down.
Is there any way or a tweak that turns off the notification sound and vibrate when you receive a delivery notification in text messages? It's annoying to have the sms notification tone sound every time a sms delivery notification is sent in reply to me texting someone.
i looking for it too
Settings>Sound & Display>Rings & Notifications>Notification Sounds>New Message..then simply push the switch to off.
Note: this will switch off the sound for all sms, whether its delivery reports or plain messages.

Any idea how I can turn of the delivery sound alone?
I have found this application by JGUI. But sadly it's not freeware if you want to move the report to a folder instead of deleting.

hey guys,
my girlfriend has a slide and she changed her messaging ringtone. but now, whenever she receives a text message it makes the sound she changed it to, then a second notification sound goes off after it.
It might be asking the obvious, but has your gf installed any other app (handcent, chompsms, smspopup, etc.) that might give a secondary notification?
Anyone else have this 'problem'?
Whilst viewing an sms conversation, if i receive an sms the notification tone just keeps sounding and there is no way to stop it unless you force close the messaging (or swipe it away in the running programs list)
I use the 'hangout' tone as ususaly it keeps sounding until you pull down notification bar or go into messaging app.
Cheers
That's because hangout is a ringtone and not a notification.
