I rooted .242 via Kingroot but i run the Nut's recovery installer no prompts appears on my phone at the stage where it says grant permission.
Which option did you choose to install the nut's recovery ?
Quote from the recovery installer:-
1. Installation on ROM rooted with SuperSU
2. Installation on ROM rooted with SuperUser
3. Installation on unrooted ROM using the TowelRoot method
4. Install ADB drivers to windows
really working on .270?

Hello
I just installed Lollipop 5.1 and my problem is that when installing SuperSU and asks me to update the binary, I click on Normal and I get this error:
Error in installation!
Reboot and try again, please.
What do I do?
Then why don't you use recovery installation?
And second, almost every 5.1 is already pre-rooted ...
Have you changed SU too a system app? Then it's often normal that you must install over Recovery or Odin.

Have you asked over on the SuperSU thread? You're likely to get your answers there, once you provide Chainfire with a logcat.
Whether it is solved , I installed SuperSU with recovery , and it works properly.
Thanks!! :good:
MOD EDIT by @gregbradley
USER WARNING This root method sends your IMEI number to an ip address in china during the process. Only use this root method if you are aware of this and accept the risk.
Read more here.
You have been warned
This method will work on all Xperia devices running Lollipop , KitKat or any other older version.
This will work on both Locked Bootloader and Unlocked Bootloader.
1. Download KingRoot v4.1.0 and install it in your mobile - http://d-h.st/34c1
2. Root your phone using KingRoot app. ( If it fails try again it will succeed )
Now To Replace KingUser with SuperSU :
1. Download the file - http://d-h.st/ZxN8
2. Extract the file and copy the mrw folder to the root of your internal storage.
3. Download Terminal Emulator for Android from PlayStore - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en
4. Open the Terminal app in your mobile , enter the command " su " ( without quotes ) . Allow Root Access in your mobile.
5. Now run the command - " sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh " ( without quotes )
6. The SuperSu app will launch automatically , it will ask to update binary , click on CONTINUE , then Select NORMAL method. After the Binary is installed it will ask to reboot your device.
Thanks MrW0lf and @Kingxteam
I wouldn't use it fella, you do know it sends the imei no of every phone it roots to a unknown ip/server address in China. And doesn't always give full root

Thanks for the detailed steps.. Last week i had rooted my XZR with Kingroot. But i couldn't install SuperSU. Then i followed other method to get root. This is a very easy steps. I will definitely try next time..
There is a way more easier way that I would like to mention here too (at least it worked on my Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact).
So, after gaining root successfully with KingRoot you install XZDualRecovery via the 2nd method. Then you have recovery and you should flash the beta version of Supersu which is version 2.49. With this Supersu you can remove KingRoot apps and stuff. Then install binary via normal mode, reboot and KingRoot should be gone leaving only SuperSU behind. But I'll recommend to flash back the stable version of SuperSU (2.46) again.
Using the TMO Z3 D6616. Followed ur post in detail but getting an error near the end. Looks like Kingroot is gone and SuperSU is installed but it will not update the binary. Keeps failing to update binaries. Any ideas?
Try the Sony ric killer script or install nuts recovery.
D2303 18.3.1.C.1.15 kk deodexed, rooted, philz touch recovery, xposed, z1 bravia engine 2 + x-reality+ z3 super vivid, viper audio
Root "any" Xperia is somewhat of an exaggeration. Doesn't work on the M4 Aqua.

if you are using SuperSu 2.49 then downgrade to SuperSu 2.48 or 2.46 should solve this.

Finally... i made it WORKS
Thats the way i ROOT my 14.6.A.0.368 firmware with LOCKED bootloader.
1. Installed KingRoot V4.6.0 128 and rooted with it
2. Installed Super-Sume Pro v9.1.9 and this program replaced KingRoot with SuperSU
3. Downloaded Z1C-lockeddualrecovery2.8.22-RELEASE.flashable.zip <- This is not mistake, you need FLASHABLE version... yes i know you don't have active recovery to flash it.
4. Install Flashfire from http://flashfireapk.com/ and flash the recovery zip with it...
5. Enjoy
P.s. may be you will need RIC Disabler/Killer also... i have installed it before, but doesn't noticed it do something
Please thank or just write something to approve this works for you

If you are rooted you cannot OTA update. You can update via PC Companion without losing anything (I'm not quite sure though) than root with Kingroot.

How to Root Xperia Tablet Z Android 5.1.1 and 5.0.2 Without PC and Get SuperSu
Hi Guys.I will show you today the easiest way for Rooting your Xperia Tablet Z.I have prepared this video for you.I hope you like it.
Steps
1.Install latest kingroot.apk from attachment(if you have problem with v4.6, try v4.5) and install it into your handy
2.Open the app and click "try to root"
3.Let It Settle (it can be take 2 min or more according to your internet connection)
4.After 3.Step;install Super-SuMe from attachment
5.Open SuperSu me,give the app permission and click to Blue Button.Let It Settle
6.Now Open SuperSu and update his Binaries (via normal)
7.Thats all.It is very easy. Now your handy has root and SuperSu app.
Note:
1)Kinguser app (after 3.Step it creates a app like SuperSu) is enough for rooting but If you want to use SuperSu app on your handy, you should follow the other steps.
2)After Reboot Kinguser app comes back.Don´t give a permission to Kinguserapp
Solution
-Go to root/system/app/Kinguser
-Delete the FOLDER of Kinguser(include kinguser.apk)
-Reboot

kingroot v4.6
This is great news. Might be a silly question but does this unlock the bootloader and if so should we backup the DRM keys?
No it will not unlock the boot loader, no custom recovery required, just root the stock rom for me.
Problem: I already had SU installed before I did the update to 5.1.1. After I did the update, I got thru step 3 and tried using the already installed SU I already had installed and it would not update the binary. So I installed the SUME and tried it that way. Still SU would not update binary. Tried it several times after several reboots and nothing. Uninstalled both SUme and SU and rebooted then reinstalled SUME and it doesn't seem to work and now SUME seems to freeze up and just sits there. I am not sure what to do. I can't get any of my apps like titanium backup root access. Any advice?
Thanks

I followed all steps but superSU says that it can't find the su binary.
It is in the system/xbin folder though.
Kingroot 4.5, 4.6 (and 4.65) doesn't show any error, it roots the tablet correctly according to root checker.
Super-sume doesn't show any errors neither, only SuperSU.

Reflash with PC Companion fixed the bootloop.

Ya i have an idea.. Happened to me as well. I tried almoat everything but system won't be accessible anywhere.. I followed the same tutorial and installed magisk 13.4.
The only solution i could find was flash the latest factory image, and root again using supersu. I used the AIO tool by ghpranav and have got my phone rooted with xposed working without any issues.

You need flash back stock boot image first, due to some limitations you can't have TWRP and SuperSU root at the same time. If you don't have the stock boot image. I suggest download the ROM from MIUI and then flash it. You can choose "flash_all_except_storage" option, this will keep your data.
http://en.miui.com/download-333.html
After flashing. Reboot back to fastboot and then:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
After that just run root.bat from the cf-auto root folder you downloaded and wait for it to automatically reboot your phone. You should have root now, if you wish you can download SuperSU from the store.

I actually tried before, and I tell you the results:
Option 1 TWRP installed + Rooted with Magisk
= Pretty much useless as /system is read-only. Every root app doesn't function, unless it is system-less. But system-less modules nearly all doesn't work as the Magisk version too old. And this method won't trip safetynet
Option 2 no TWRP + Rooted with SuperSU (cf-root method) -- Currently using this state
= Got proper root access, Xposed works but will trip safetynet
Option 3 TWRP installed + Rooted with SuperSU (cf-root method)
= Don't try this, will cause your phone stuck in boot loop

No, it will cause your phone stuck it boot loop if you try to flash the SuperSU zip directly from the official ChainFire site. I think probably is the AB partitioning problem or some sort (unsure). As I said you need to run CF-Auto root to get proper root access, otherwise flashing Magisk through TWRP will makes most of the root apps does not work properly unless it also uses system-less root function.

No if you want proper root with CF-auto root you must not have TWRP installed. You either choose TWRP + Magisk (non-working root) or no TWRP but with SuperSU (working root, Xposed works too).
